#personal #thank god i have my blorbos lmao #sooooo the other shoe has dropped on the math stuff at work #i have 2 bosses and. turns out they dont agree #one boss is really excited about it. other boss thinks it's gonna be a money pit #i did not know this until today's team meeting!#so when i mentioned that i was planning on setting up statistics software she immediately started asking questions #essentially putting me in the position of having to justify the expense of paying me to do this #they set up this fancy analytics dashboard but like. all anyone is doing with it is eyeballing things as far as i can tell #and like. thats fine. but she wants me to also use it #and it's like. if you want me to do proper stats i need the raw data #im not at risk of losing my job here but i am at risk of losing the chance to do math at work & get data experience #urgh. would like to lie face down for a while #im not politically savvy enough for this bro

what they don't tell you about open source software development is that sometimes people expect you to maintain that software after you create it

#sometimes i create simple one-off minecraft mods because an idea pops into my head and i make it #i really dont want to feel obligated to maintain them months later when the idea is no longer fresh/relevant in my mind #when i make software i make it for myself first #anyways right now im working on a mod that lets you configure the units different statistic types are displayed in #e.g. for “Time Played” and other “time” statistics you can choose between seconds/minutes/hours/days #making this because steam's playtime is displayed in hours and i want minecraft to display its playtime in the same way #but also all other stats because why not #minecraft modding #software development #software

going insane (again) i have an exam in three days and i wanted to start studying and i went through everything we need to know in an hour. AN HOUR. pathetic excuse of a class holy shit

#how do i 'study and dont go on tumblr' in these conditions #also (complaints incoming lmao sorry) this is for the statistics stuff again and they dont give us any extra exercises than the ones we had #to do for the graded tasks so like. cool. ive got 7 exercises i can use to practice and ive already done all of them and after ive done-#them again i will know all the answers so i cant redo them. great! this is how you teach a practical class yes thanks professor :))))#i can go on about this shit show of a class forever im sorry we didnt even have classes where they explained stuff we had to watch-#videos from the pandemic! which would be fine if the software we have to use wouldnt have had seven updates in the last years! we got-#feedback moments every other week *after* we had to turn in the assignment that *might* be graded for a bonus point (which i did get!-#take that!!) but like. oh you didnt understand the complicated stuff we never really explained? you can ask after youve been graded on the-#stuff you turned in - which is NOTHING because you didnt understand the first question because it was bullshit!#my friend was very funny i gotta admit because she very sweetly called the professor over and went im sorry sir :( but i couldnt turn it in #this time :( i really didnt understand the questions and the videos we got werent enough and the handbook didnt explain it any further-#either and i wanted to practice a bit before doing the POSSIBLY GRADED assignment but it seems there are no other exercises we could use-#will there be some in the coming weeks? because i just dont understand it with the very limited amount offered :((#and my professor got VERY awkward lmao because it turned out that this assignment was the one he graded because it was the hardest :) and-#many people didnt understand it so only 34 people out of the 170 taking the class got their bonus point :)) this is fine :)))))#snail speaks

I feel extra bad repurposing my old laptop I technically replaced five years ago for GC data analysis because every time it needs to integrate a peak that’s not entirely perfectly even it has to work so hard it almost crashes the programs running, but instead of loudly complaining and running the fans like crazy like my current laptop it just quietly suffers through it until it gets the job done.

a cool fact about working in the pickup order department in the grocery store! sometimes, the program that you use to scan in items takes you through the raw meat department right before it takes you through produce. do you have time to wash your hands in between? nope!

THANK YOU I APPRECIATE IT......god it's just. i wish the class had more homework to be graded on. we get one quiz once a week and the quizzes themselves are only worth 16% of our grade total and then we have 3 tests all worth 28% of our grade and that's it. so if you fuck up on the tests your whole grade is screwed. and i was keeping track of the questions i thought i missed vs the questions i thought i got right and my guesstimation is that i made somewhere around a 60 or so. which is enough to screw me over. and i just. sighhhhhh
