König tropes I want to burn with hell fire

sorry for this unprompted rant but some of you guys are starting to ruin my favourite comfort character (CW mentions of noncon/r*pe, mentions of xenophobia, mentions of n*zis, general problematic behaviour, mentions of bad disability/mental health representation)

-1. Casual xenophobia- I’ve lost count of the amount of content that depicts König as a n*zi and I kinda feel like I shouldn’t have to tell you why that’s not ok. These things should not be fetishised and doing this is overall just super ignorant. That’s probably the worst instance of this kind of things but there are a ton of examples. Like a lot of people seem to think that every German speaking country is exactly the same. And to codify him as a German speaker everyone seems to think they can just slap on whatever offensive stereotype they want. As someone who has visited German speaking countries multiple times and knows native German speakers personally, believe it or not not all German men are rude, humourless, cruel, alcoholic perverts who treat women like shit and have a bunch of super fucked up kinks and no understanding of consent. If any of you had ever met someone from this part of the world you’d know that in general they are very polite and friendly people. If you want to use a stereotype there are plenty that aren’t offensive and ignorant that could be fun character quirks (eg. Germans always having to have the windows open, having a sweet tooth, having three different drinks with breakfast (water for hydration, coffee for energy, juice for nutrition. Trust me it’s a whole thing lol), being obsessed with always being on time (also works because he’s in the military) etc.). Like please at least try to be a little respectful. And if you’re going to show him speaking German at least learn the basics. Duolingo is free lol.

2 mental health/disabilities- as someone who actually has autism I think it’s kinda cool that some people have written him as autistic or having adhd etc. but if you’re going to do this can you please just do a little research so you get the symptoms right and not over generalise. Like autistic people can in fact understand humour and sarcasm most of the time we’re not robots. It’s 2024 like can we stop this trope please. A lot of people write him having anxiety or ptsd, which again I think is super cool but it’s often used as an excuse for him being aggressive/violent. Like this isn’t cute, if someone is treating you like this regardless of if they struggle with mental health or not there’s never an excuse for violence.

3 r*pe/non con- this point is kinda about fanfic in general but I see it a lot with könig especially. People need to understand the difference between a cnc kink and just plain assault. Cnc is a consensual agreement with safe words and boundaries and aftercare and mutual enjoyment. What most of these fics say is cnc is literally just him being a sexual predator. For a lot of people this is super triggering and romanticising r*pe is just disgusting.

again sorry for the rant guys but I really just needed to get this off my chest. Like this stuff has gotten in the way of my own writing and is really starting to ruin the appeal of his character. Like I beg of you can someone please write something where he’s just a sweet anxious Austrian guy who’s kind and respectful despite his reputation? Like I really don’t think I’m asking for much.

Aka where I'll be screaming about the book. As a start let's just say that the special edition cover feels both beautiful and like this is going to be awful!!!!!!! This is andalucia according to a northerner or madrileño, which isn't really that weird since the author apparently romanticises Spain a tad too much and asked the author of the Spanish love deception for her input on the story when she's ✨️from the part of Spain that has nothing to do with andalusia/the Mediterranean coast✨️

Actually a mantilla is a type of headscarf made with lace (it's absolutely gorgeous) lol. It's not going to make you feel any heat. What the author's describing is a manton.

Straight off the bat, why's the author so fixated on oranges???? Like sure, sevilla (and many other cities like malaga and granada) is full of orange trees but you're not supposed to eat those nor smell like oranges at all times jdodnsisnsiwnsiwn

First Character You Wrote a Fanfiction About: - EASY…. X-men…back in the day not long after the films came out where fics were a mix of comic book understanding, 90’s cartoon, the movies, the NEW cartoons of Evolution… RP’s… fanfics were amazing as people just had HUGE casts to work with.   I even have the little hand written notebook that my first Fic started in.. (See Pic) it’s not elegant its clunky and basic and I love the OC that came out of it.. who went from being Jade to Emerald (sine a group I was using her in had an OC named Jade…) Emmy went from being rather 2 dimensional to a complex and very real person and her story in the OC group got 616 character complicated LOL and I will love her forever…

Yes... I went into my 'keep box' and found it to take a photo.. cos I'm that way..

Last Character/Current Fixation: Bucky, but since Dangerous Notes went up.. BUT  I’m jumping between Steve, Buck, Loki right now with things.. plus everyone else I’ve covered.. It’s a little crazy.  

Fic You Are Proudest Of (shamelessly self-promote yourself): Hellcat! This idea was sitting in my head for a while, and I love that it’s the length it is, that it works like it does. I love what the story itself is…

Also I am pleased with Dangerous Notes since it’s giving me a chance to do something with external and internal conflicts, the fact it’s making me build things over time, pacing, growth.. all of that..  It is also something that will take a decent amount of time to actually finish.. I don’t know how many parts it will fully be, even though I’ve plotted out most key points. Just watch it unfold is fun.

Favorite AU Type to Write: Tough call between Mob AU and Omegaverse BUT that’s mostly sine that’s all I’ve really explored thus far… I do plan on branching out… There’s a whole  list of ones I’ve got ideas around..  What I enjoy cover is  power structures, dominance dynamics, and moral ambiguity—whether it's crime families or instinct-driven control. Stuff that allows for exploration around  obsession, control, VS reluctant attraction. Omegaverse I like the ‘animal/instinct . primal behaviour’ parts of it… I think the idea that it can explore that at our core people are still animals/beasts.

Favorite Trope/Type of thing to Write: Hands down, it’s “dark dominance with a slow unravel”. I gravitate toward possessive men who want control but often feel broken or monstrous—paired with women who responses vary to that behaviour - resist, comply, or fall in love in ways that are just as emotionally complicated. So:

This is coming from a different game I was tagged in about what fictional men make you feral. While going through them I realized I have a lot of fics that I've never talked about and I can't be the only one. Everyone has first fics, best, proudest, saddest, etc.

First Character You Wrote a Fanfiction About: Gaara from Naruto. Boy needed a hug. Murderous psycho but first thoughts were: That boy needs a hug and that's all he really wants.

Last Character/Current Fixation: Bucky Barnes. I don't think I need to explain this one.

Fic You Are Proudest Of (shamelessly self-promote yourself): Howling Witch. Not my most popular at all but I'm proud of it because I actually like how it's coming together stylistically. I actually feel like I'm doing something right with how it's developing. Not all the time, but some things. It's 3rd POV, named FMC, but I'm happy about it.

Most Popular Fic: Care. Period care fic with Bucky because I was in pain that day and wanted some care myself. Self-indulgent but it made me feel better and I hope it made others feel better, too.

Fic you wrote that you DISLIKE the Most: I know it's a hard one, and if there isn't one don't answer it. Personally I'm happy with what I have out right now. In the past, that hasn't always been true and I've had fics that I just didn't like when I went back to them. I had one where it was a Kili x OC fic and I just didn't like how the OC was going so I scrapped it.

Strangest Fic/People wonder where it came from/Why: I wrote several fics that were a LOTR/Hobbit crossover with Skyrim where the dragons were shapeshifting people and I made up an entire culture for them.

Strangest Thing You've Ever Learned For a Fic: Because of the last answer I became semi-fluent in Skyrim Draconic. Not Shouts. I mean conversational.

Favorite AU Type to Write: Vampires (even if they're bad in my current fic, I still have a thing for them) and Wolves.

Favorite Trope/Type of thing to Write: When the characters know they like each other and want each other but they aren't intimate or able to be together immediately for whatever reason. They may be flirty and kissy with each other, they may even have sex, but it takes them a while to get to actual intimacy. Don't know what to call it...Slowburn Express? I love the first flush of romance and writing that but I like writing what happens beyond that and the journey from that first butterfly sucker punch to being a truly, deep, and intimate relationship between two people.
