March 22 - Tongue-tied, Darcy Lewis/Stephen Strange for @meilan-firaga

“This one?” Darcy put a book down on the table in front of Strange. He definitely lived up to the name, she thought. An odd sort indeed, even if he was sexy as all get-out. She’d had more than a few dreams about that facial hair of his since Jane loaned her out to help Strange with his research.

“That’s the one.” He flipped it open, started rapidly scanning the pages written in a language she couldn’t read - she thought it might be Sanskrit. As usual he completely forgot her existence when he was deep in the books, so she quietly started picking up the ones he’d already discarded and putting them back on her cart to re-shelve. Thank goodness she’d taken those library science classes, even if Wong had a completely different way of shelving things than the Dewey classification.

“That’s it!” Strange startled her by jumping to his feet. “This is the enchantment I’ve been searching for! I know what to do now.”

“Let’s go!” Darcy said enthusiastically. She’d been ready for DAYS. The Avengers were out there fighting for time, along with every other hero Earth had managed to dredge up, and she’d been trapped in this library quite long enough sneezing over dusty old books.

“Not you. You’re not coming.”

“Oh, yes I am!” There was no way he was leaving her behind. No. Freaking. Way. Darcy’s eyes narrowed. She would use every tactic at her disposal to get her way. Even the really dirty ones.

Stephen drew himself up, narrowing his annoyingly deep blue eyes at her and gazing down over the nearly-a-foot distance in their heights. “Do you know who I am, girl?”

“An arrogant asshat with the common sense of a gnat?”

Stephen’s mouth opened and closed a couple of times with sheer shock, but he was damned fast, Darcy had to give him that. He recovered quickly and raised his finger to waggle it at her. She deliberately folded his arms under her breasts and watched his eyes drop.

“I am the Sorcewer Supweme!” Stephen would forever afterwards swear that Darcy had used some sort of enchantment to make the words mangle in his mouth. She would just smile and agree that her boobs were magical all by themselves.

Darcy’s eyes lit up.

“Sorcerer Supreme,” he repeated the words slowly and carefully.

Darcy opened her mouth.

“Mawwiage!” she declaimed. “Mawwiage is what bwings us togethaw today. Mawwiage, that bwessed awwangement, that dweam within a dweam. And wuvv, twue wuvv...”

“If I say you can come with me, please will you stop quoting The Princess Bride?” Stephen said desperately.

Darcy smiled and tucked her hand into his arm. “I knew you’d come to see things my way. Let’s go save the world. Wuvv.”

The Sorcerer’s Intern

Darcy Lewis arrives at the doorstep of the New York Sanctum and manages to befriend a reluctant Dr. Strange.

It has only been a few weeks since the chaos, since Doctor Stephen Strange died repeatedly to stop the world from being sucked into a timeless void. He is just getting his feet back under him and the Sanctums rebuilt when the doorbell rang on the New York Sanctum. He had not been aware he had a doorbell, given that his only visitors had been sorcerers themselves, who had a bad habit of showing up unannounced and letting themselves in.

A woman a bit younger than him with long wavy brown hair and rather attractive curves was standing on his doorstep. 

“Hi,” she said.

“Um… Hello,” Strange said. It came out almost as a question.

She cleared her throat and started speaking in a rush. “Hi. I already said that. Never mind. Stephen Strange? I’m Darcy Lewis. You probably don’t remember me, I mean, how would you. You were in a coma at the time. Which really sucks. I’m Darcy and I was the other driver.”

After everything he has seen in the last few months, Strange is not an easy man to surprise. This managed to stun him into silence. 

Darcy started speaking again. “I don’t know why I came here, especially after all this while. I mean, I checked on you a bit after the accident but it was all ‘family and close friends only’ and I mean, the police report didn’t blame me but I still felt bad about it, especially since I knew you were hurt so bad. And then when I tried to check on you no one seemed to know where you had gone, just that you had left the country. And I moved to London for a little while for my internship and life went kind of insane. And now I’m graduated and figured I should try to look you up again. I’m sure it’s probably really selfish tracking you down like this just to assuage my own… What the hell are you wearing?” she demanded, cutting herself off.

“It’s a tunic,” he said. “And a cloak.”

Then it was Darcy’s turn to be stunned into silence. Finally, she managed “And why are you wearing a tunic and cloak?”

“Because I’m a sorcerer, the Sorcerer Supreme, actually.” He said it as though it were a relatively normal thing, being a sorcerer. “Would you like to come in?” The truth was, he felt suddenly guilty with her here. He had been so caught up in his own pain that the fate of the other driver had never crossed his mind. He stepped out of the doorway to let her in. 

“You’re a sorcerer? Like Loki?” she asked, as though being a sorcerer was only slightly odd.

“Not exactly. I protect earth from magical and extradimensional threats.”

“Cool. Was this a recent career change, or are you allowed to be a sorcerer and a doctor?”

“I am a doctor,” he said, a little sharply. “I’m not practicing medicine at the moment, but I earned a medical degree and the title that goes with it.”

“Oh. Right. Sorry,” she said, looking remorseful.

“And yes,” he said, changing the subject back. “Sorcerer is a relatively new career path for me, within the last year.”

“Is the magic house of magic new, too?”

“The New York Sanctum is at least several hundred years old. I am still learning the details of its history. But it is new to me.”

“So what made you decide on sorcery?”

“I didn’t,” he said honestly. “I think sorcery chose me. Would you like some tea, or something? I don’t have guests here very often. Ever, actually.”

“Yeah, thanks. That would be great.”

He makes the tea but the kettle won’t stop shaking in his hand when he tries to pour. She must have noticed, but doesn’t say anything, and he transitions almost smoothly into using magic and showing off. It’s frustrating that, after everything, he still can’t get his hands to do something as simple as pouring tea. 

“I never did find out how you were after the crash,” he said.

She shrugged. “Probably because there wasn’t much to find out. I was lucky. I walked away with two broken bones, which healed back stronger, and a scar.” She rolled up her sleeve to reveal a jagged scar. “Which I’m pretty proud of, by the way, because I hang out with some kinda badass people and it’s nice to have a tough looking scar. Besides, you had your own crap to deal with at the time, being comatose for example.” She took a sip of the tea and accepted his offer of sugar.

“I’m glad you’re alright,” he said. 

“You too. I mean, sure, I wasn’t hurt as bad, but you turned into a wizard, which is awesome. Anyway, I won’t bug you anymore, I just… I’m still not even sure, just wanted to check in, I guess. It was nice to meet you, Doctor Strange.” 

“You too, Miss Lewis.”

He never expected to see her again, but there she was two days later, standing on his doorstep with a box of cookies.

“Hi,” she said brightly. “I was in the area and thought ‘hey, why not bring some cookies to the good doctor.’”

“I don’t need your pity,” he said, but it was said with weariness rather than heat.

“Pity? Who’s got pity? You’re a wizard. You practically live in Hogwarts. I may have not told you the full truth. What I really thought was ‘hey, maybe if I bring the good doctor some cookies, he’ll give me a tour of his awesome magical house,’ but it would seem less planned if I just gave you the cookies and let you taste them and then decided to give me a tour out of the goodness of your heart.”

“A tour? Of the house?” Strange asked.

“Yes. It’s awesome and the closest thing to Hogwarts that I know where it is.”

He glanced back at the book he was reading. He almost sent her away but decided against it. There was something contagious about her enthusiasm. He flashed her a smile. 

“Well, in that case, come in."

Hi friends!

I really hate to ask for things and I know that with the holidays coming up some of us are a little tight, but I haven’t yet heard back from my dean whether I’ll be teaching any classes this spring.  Adjunct professors don’t make much to begin with, but without a class at this college, I won’t have ANY stable or foreseeable source of income.  The family also isn’t sure when social security and/or worker’s comp will end to compensate for my dad’s passing, so that’s something that’s always on the back of our minds as well.

March 29 - “Thank god I’m wearing gloves, because you’re too hot to handle.” Darcy/Doctor Strange for @battlebunnyteardropsinthesun

“Don’t talk to me,” Darcy said quickly as she sensed a large presence looming at her shoulder. “Like, really. Just not now.” By necessity, she’d become quite a competent lab technician over the last few years, and it was absolutely crucial to get this experiment completed in the new few minutes. Since Bruce had finally fallen asleep with his head on his keyboard after a three-day Science! bender, Darcy had no intention of waking him up. She’d take care of it herself, and whoever was standing behind her watching her work could just darn well wait.

Finally, she had all the samples done, placed the rack of test tubes carefully into the incubator and turned around with a small sigh of relief. She fully expected to see Steve or Vision there, since they were the only ones of the large Avengers capable of actually shutting up when told instead of just yapping on with complete disregard for her need to concentrate, and it was definitely a large presence behind her.

Instead, she found herself gazing up into the handsome face of a completely unfamiliar man, dressed in the weirdest clothing she’d seen since her last trip to Asgard. He even had an honest-to-goodness cape, a deep red one with a high collar framing his face.

“Oh,” Darcy took a startled step back. “Who are you?”

“Doctor Stephen Strange,” he said in a deep, sonorous sort of voice. “I’m here to see Doctor Banner.”

“I’m afraid he’s asleep, and I’d really rather you didn’t wake him right now,” Darcy glanced at the sleeping scientist. “Is there something I can help you with?”

He had striking blue eyes that seemed to pierce right through her, wings of white in his dark hair at his temples which only served to emphasize his stunning cheekbones. She couldn’t stop staring.

Stephen cocked his head, studying the young woman before him with interest. He’d learned since his time at Kammar-Taj not to make assumptions about anyone, no matter how unassuming their facade might be. Not that this young woman was really all that unassuming; indeed, she was very pretty, big blue eyes shining with intelligence behind cat-eye glasses, long brown hair pulled back into a ponytail, a very pretty face.

Once upon a time, he wouldn’t have looked past that pretty face. Now, though, he saw more, and what he saw had his brows raising in surprise.

“Your aura is brighter than almost anyone’s I’ve ever seen,” he blurted out, wondering if she already had some sorcerous training.

“Well, aren’t you a smooth talker,” Darcy said with a cynical little laugh. She wouldn’t have pegged him for the New Agey type, but hey, it took all sorts. Working for Jane and Bruce, she’d long since stopped assuming that anyone who introduced themselves as ‘Doctor’ anything was a medical doctor, in fact the only doctor she knew who had an M.D. was Helen Cho. She wondered what Strange had a doctorate in. He blinked those incredible blue eyes at her, frowned slightly.

“You have no idea, do you? The energies of the universe are drawn to you, almost as though you are some sort of nexus…”

Darcy barely suppressed a roll of her eyes. What a crackpot. “Wow.” She lifted her still-gloved hands and waggled them at him in a woo-woo sort of gesture. “Thank god I’m wearing gloves, because you are just too hot to handle.”

“Suddenly, I understand why the Ancient One found me so bloody irritating,” Stephen said with a wry laugh. Darcy’s tone absolutely dripped sarcasm. “Can you not find it in yourself to believe that there are more things in heaven and earth than you yet comprehend?”

“Dude,” Darcy pointed across the lab, “Bruce turns into the Hulk when he loses his shit. Comprehend that.”

“Oh, I do. His unconscious manipulation of the universe’s energies to effect the transformation is quite remarkable. I’m curious to study it in close proximity.”

“Then you’re even more of a nutjob than I already thought.” Darcy shook her head. “I’ll just stay a safe distance away, thank you.”

Stephen shook his head, his incredible blue eyes a little distant as he seemed to gaze through her. “You are a nexus, Miss Lewis. I regret to tell you that a safe distance is not something that you will be afforded.” With a small sigh, he lifted his hand. “I will try to be a little more gentle with you than the Ancient One was with me…”

Darcy blinked, and as her eyes re-opened, he poked her lightly right in between them, and the world suddenly fell completely out of focus.
