Benedict Cumberbatch will receive the Zurich Film Festival's Golden Eye Award for career achievement on September 29

“Benedict Cumberbatch is one of the most versatile character actors of his generation,” Christian Jungen, Festival Director of the Zurich Film Festival, said in a statement.  “He comes from the theater, masters his craft in every role, and gives his characters emotional depth – whether as Alan Turing in The Imitation Game or as superhero Doctor Strange in the Marvel universe. We have shown many of his films at the ZFF in recent years and are delighted to be able to welcome him to Zurich in person for the first time, both as an actor and as the producer of The Thing With Feathers.”

 “I am honoured to be invited to The Zurich Film Festival to receive The Golden Eye Award. This festival is important in recognising, encouraging and supporting all filmmakers across the world, with emphasis on inspiring new talent and voices, something close to my heart. Hi caro hope you're doing fine 🌱 you know fleabag ? I love the show and I got a feeling that the main couple might be D/G , Andrew Scott ( 173cm) might be a gamine type( or a TR) ? and phoebe waller-bridge (1,77cm ) might be a pure D ? Have a fun day 🌸🌹

analysis: on dramatics and gamines being paired for british tv

i've already categorized andrew on my men's types masterlist as a soft gamine! and phoebe is dramatic clear as day. angles suit her much better than yin + the red lip is pure D's signature. another gamine x dramatic constellation! i call it the "BBC formula":

these image IDs always get cast as a package deal lmao! for sherlock, they had the exact same match-up, benedict being sharp yang of course. he's ridiculously gigantic at 6'0 next to andrew.

PS: needless to say, martin freeman is a soft gamine as well. michael sheen vibes. SG and D have shared angularity but an unbelievable discrepancy in frame, it usually mirrors the characters' differing viewpoints.

PS II: you bet david tennant is a pure dramatic congruently (6'1!). michael is yin (small/curved in outline, perhaps he's even a pure romantic?), david is yang (tall, narrow, asymmetry, bone structure dominant). never thought michael was 5'10.

and the BBC formula goes on. doctor who, well... i haven't seen as many dramatic protagonists in my life. yang across the board. cheekbones and sharp noses and slim lips and low brows. peter capaldi especially.

jenna coleman strikes me as an SG companion to matt smith. petite type - vertical type. why is british television obsessed with the SG/D combo, they're everywhere??

it's only when it gets to merlin that the main dichotomy is dramatic VS natural!

colin morgan is narrow and tall with angled shoulders, bradley james is broad and tall with blunt shoulders. see how colin has no kibbe width but stronger facial bone structure?

we can see how arthur fills out natural clothing much better than merlin. interesting how they defy the D+G pattern. however i suspect it's because the wizard always has to be sharp yang and the warrior blunt yang. classic typecasting.

however, when we look at freya, merlin's love interest is gamine again! petite, angular, not yin/curve-dominant. the pattern is pretty consistent. i'll post more about this effect soon!
