If I get stuck while writing I invite other people to watch me. Like writing in real time. Because the thought of a bunch of strangers waiting for the next sentence is enough to give my brain the constant sense of urgency and switch it into crazy-fast-productive mode.

I also almost never plan what I’m gonna write in advance because my stupid brain likes the constant sense of novelty as well. Everything is pure improv from start to finish.

Whenever I try to explain this method to other writers they get horrified ahahah I imagine for most of them writing is more of a private activity

Just some lil' rambling about MSQ DT. For folks beyond level 96 in MSQ. Specifically something that is said to the WoL near the start of 96.

When the WoL and Erenville are repairing the traintracks they seek out the Hhetsarro people of Mehwahhetsoan to ask if they would part with tinder. We meet with Hhwato, the chief, and his son, Shepetto. Shepetto is excited to meet you and says:

What he says next changes depending on race. At least, that's my best guess. Shepetto to Odette:

…fair winds blown from a distant shore, though I know not where. I gather you are not from these lands?

Originally, I thought perhaps the job was what determined it as Iron was a PLD and I was a WHM at the time. However, Sif (of @whitherwanderer fame) got the same one as Odette despite being different jobs. So I went digging and found all the things Shepetto might say and there are 8 options, which aligns neatly with our 8 playable races. Anyway there is no point to this other than I thought it was neat when I realized it! And it was fun to puzzle over with my friends, and see in which ways Shepetto's comment fit them! I'm curious to know how well his comment resonated with your OC!

Wait, hold up. In the TNG episode "Bloodlines", the Enterprise is trying to cover the distance of 300 billion kilometers but even at Warp 9 it would take 20 minutes.

I know this is the nerdiest shit ever, but I am trying to do the math here because that immediately sounded wrong.

If light travels at 300,000 kilometers per second, that also means it goes at 5000 kilometers per minute. So, Warp 1 is a speed of 5000 kilometers per minute. So at Warp 1 the Enterprise can cover 300 billion kilometers - or 300,000,000,000 divided by 5000 - in 60,000,000 minutes. Looking up how Warp factors actually increase from 1 to 2, to 2 to 3 is giving me mixed answers as I try to look it up - nobody seems to fucking agree. What I do see is that at least 500 times the speed of light seems rather doable and mid-cruise speeds. So!

60 million minutes divided by 500 is 120,000. And some sources state that even 1800 times the speed of light is possible. So, 60 million divided by 1800... nets 33,333 minutes. And I found one guy saying Warp 9 is 6,561 times the speed of light. So. ONE MORE TIME! 60 million divided by 6,561 is... 9,144 minutes. Or about 6 days.

The old adage really is true. Warp speed is as fast as what the writers need for it to be (or they simply do not have a sense of scale, which really is a fault in most science fiction writers).

Not to mention the entire Milky Way is about 105,000 light years. And going at 6,561 times the speed of light means it would take 16,000 years to cross the Milky Way. How far again was the Voyager from Earth when it started its 70 year journey?

ok so realistically i know theres important character reasons Kendra (and Seth and Warren by extension) never suspect Gavarog. It’s the old society trick to set up threats as team bonding exercises, etc, etc. plus this is a new and unfamiliar world thats rapidly overtaking her real world and replacing all her existing relationships, and right now Gavarog’s like the only member of her magical-worl peer group, so she doesnt want him to be a traitor, just like she didnt want Vanessa, her only female mentor to be a traitor, etc , etc.

but also i wholeheartedly 100% believe that every time Gavin did some truly bizarre, weird ass shit Kendra was just like. damnnnn…. average home school kid behavior.
