Hello hello, it's been a while. Life has been busy unfortunately and motivation was out of the window. Today however I decided to get back to it, albeit slowly.

This study session was short due to not having done this in while (more than a month) and life situations going on that made me unable to focus properly. I managed to do my homework for next week's lesson and I did some light flashcards focused on the verbs.

The rest of the time I did some journaling as my thoughts have been in a spiral these days over my future (which my impending birthday next week usually triggers), over my return to Poland and my work and some other personal stuff. Journaling did help so I will incorporate it more in my daily life to also help center me and focus on my studies. You can't concentrate when you spiral after all.

“How are you?” in Italian

Welcome to my blog! I am Claudia and this is So Italian!

Today we are going to learn how to ask and answer how are you in Italian.

How to ask:

Of course there are different options, most of which use the word come (how). 

One of the most frequently used is come stai? Where stai is a declination of the verb stare* (scroll to the bottom to see the whole declination). 

Another very common alternative is come va? Declination of the verb andare. It corresponds to how is it going? Its longer version would be come va la vita? (how is life going), but it is barely used. Another version is come vanno le cose? (how are things going).

Then we can say tutto bene? Which is the shorter version of va tutto bene? (is everything ok?). To this one you can just answer with a yes or a no.

How to answer:

Tutto bene?

Sì, tutto bene (Yes, everything is ok) No, non proprio (No, not really).

Whereas the answers to the other questions can be:

Come stai? / Come va? 

(Sto/Va) bene, e tu/a te? (I am good and you?)  Insomma or Così così (So so) Non (sto/va) molto bene (I am not very good) (Sto/Va) male (I feel bad/Things are going badly).

You can omit the parts in brackets!

So, these were the most common questions and answers for how are you in Italian.

Ciao a tutti! It's been a while so this will be a life update post, since not much studying was done in February unfortunately.

Before my departure to the motherland (aka Greece), I was 24/7 with people, friends visiting and then boyfriend staying over so there was no time alone to study. I had a couple of days of alone time, but they were unfortunately taken over with work, packing and and a shoulder blade injury that left me unable to sleep properly.

Now I'm home in Greece and while I made preparations to study here, I find that I need the time off to recharge. I tried to study a bit on my local library (see picture above) but I was not motivated at all to stay longer than half an hour. I am feeling burned out from the long winter, the anxiety of every day life and my various illnesses over the last couple of months, so I decided to postpone the studying for once I'm back in Krakow. I need to take care of my mental health in here and adding studying to the mix will destroy the progress.

I will maybe do some review on past flashcard decks that I have already studied, but this will be the extend of it.
