Nikki Lore Book: Wardrobe's Stylist: Special Interview with Cadenceborn
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Interviewers: Dada and Bebe, staff from the Stylist's Guild Florawish Branch
Interviewee: Kilo the Cadenceborn
First, we would like to express our profound gratitude to Mr. Kilo, the Cadenceborn, for his invaluable support in completing the Compendium. We are honored to have him join us for this interview.
Q: During the completion of the Compendium, Mr. Kilo, you demonstrated exceptional knowledge of styling history. We are very curious about how you came to possess such knowledge. Could you share your experiences with us?
A: For us Cadenceborn, such knowledge comes naturally. As the children of Florawish often jest, "Grandpa! Your grandpa's grandpa's favorite poet, Kilo, has penned yet another verse." You see, we Cadenceborn are granted long lives, during which we witness countless styles and fashions. One might consider us living archives of styling history. Furthermore, our mission is to capture human lives and emotions through our poetry. Clothing, being a direct expression of human existence and sentiment, naturally aligns with our goals. Over the centuries, this focus allowed me to amass an extensive body of knowledge about clothing.
Q: It seems not every stylist can use your unique method for practicing styling. What advice would you give to stylists who want to learn more about clothing?
A: True, not everyone has the advantage of a lengthy lifespan. However, I recommend venturing out to explore more. Traveling across Miraland can immensely enrich your life and expose you to diverse styles from different regions. After I finish my latest poem about Wishfield, I may travel again to absorb more of the world. While working on the Compendium, it reignited my appreciation for the Linlang Empire's style—the flowing cloud patterns on their dresses used to inspire me to write timeless verses. Also, if you're keen on learning about significant outfit in Wishfield's history, assist me in gathering clean Dews of Inspiration. In return, I've prepared many sketches and poems detailing their histories as rewards.
Q: Thank you so much for sharing, Mr. Kilo! Could you share your thoughts on working with the Stylist's Guild?
A: The staff at the Stylist's Guild are fantastic. You bring a lot of fresh ideas, and working with you guys always brings surprises! My biggest takeaway is... If I had enough Dews of Inspiration, I wouldn't hit so many creative walls. Honestly, it's all that darn Dark Essence causing trouble!

Empty Stylist Guild
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Stylist Guild Front Desk and Stylist Guild Hallway by @wereah)
Were-Ah was taking pictures of items within the Stylist Guild and had commented that while the developers had attempted to make the guild seem very rich and fancy it still had a liminal quality to it.
This may be strange if you're familiar with the Backrooms or any analog horror that deals with liminal spaces, but on a technicality of a sense she wasn't wrong. Physical liminal spaces supposed to be places where transition happens, where you go from what state to another. Think of airports, hallways, hospitals, schools or even offices. Places where people can be in transition, whether that is from one physical place to another, mental place or metaphorical.
In terms of horror, there is also the added aspect that most liminal spaces in horror are places that are normally filled with people, and when it's not it feels like you're in limbo in a very uncanny and unsettling sort of way.
The Stylist Guild, which is an open hub for all stylists to gather and exchange ideas, fits both aspects of this idea of liminal space. Especially the upstairs, if you consider all the stylists there are waiting for their turn in the Mira Contests.
Since the camera mode is capable of removing NPCs from the shot (and Nikki), Were-Ah decided to see if shooting photographs with the guild empty would give it a sense of liminal space.
It sort of worked, though I feel that the creepy factor is more from the fact it now looks less like a lived in guild hall and more like I got shrunk into a Barbie play set.

Infinity Nikki - Stylists Guild Memorial
Left out the first book walking into the memorial which is just a record of people the stylists guild had helped. Summarized it is: a stylist who had severe allergies to woolfruit who blended Grasspom and Floof Yarn together to make a shirt that was his debut as a stylist. He later discovered sockos beneath the woolfruit tree which are suspected to a new species that appeared after the Veilfall (this event is referenced in some of the texts).
and a younger stylists who needed help with a heating ability outfit and runs a candy shop. Her and the neigboring jewelry designer engaged in styling battles together which was a reported success.
