माघ मास की अमावस्या को मौनी अमावस्या कहते हैं। 1 फरवरी, 2022 मंगलवार को मौनी अमावस्या है। इस दिन मौन रहकर गंगा स्नान और पीपल वृक्ष की छाया में बैठकर भगवान विष्णु के मंत्रें का जाप पूजन और इसके उपरांत पीपल की 108 परिक्रमा करने से मनोवांछित फल की प्राप्ति होती है। इस पर्व के जप, पूजन, स्नान, दान से देव-पितर दोनों की कृपा से जीवन में खुशहाली आती है।

ऋषियों-मनीषियों के देश भारतवर्ष में प्रत्येक वर्ष, महीना, पक्ष एवं दिन का अपना बहुत ही विशेष महत्व होता है। प्रकृति के परिर्वतन का इन सब पर अपना प्रभाव देखने को मिलता है। जिसका अनुभव प्रकृतिप्रेमी ऋषियों ने बहुत ही गहराई के साथ शरीर, मन, आत्मा पर होने वाले असर को अपनी अन्तस्तल की दिव्यता से समझा है।

उनके अनुसार कई बार मनुष्य के जीवन में अचानक अनचाहे दृश्य उपस्��ित होते हैं जिनके कारण मन के कमजोर होने से कुछ ऐसी क्रियाएं हो जाती हैं जिन्हें कोई समझ नहीं पाता है किन्तु उनके परिणाम बहुत ही कष्टदायी होते हैं। किसी भी क्षण हमारा कुछ भी अनिष्ट न हो इसलिये मन को सकारात्मक ऊर्जा से भरपूर बनाए रखने हेतु पवित्र नदियों में स्नान, तीर्थों की यात्र, दान, सेवा-सहायता, यज्ञ, भजन, तप, साधु-सन्तों का संग, गुरु की शरण, धार्मिक ग्रन्थों का स्वाध्याय, माता-पिता का सम्मान, गरीबों पर दया एवं देव-पितरों का पूजन जैसे बहुत से साधन निर्देशित किए गए हैं।

ज्योतिष के अनुसार पितृदोष, विषदोष, मंगली दोष, सन्तान हीनता, वैधव्य, दारिद्रड्ढ, धूर्त, पति-पत्नी कलह आदि भयंकर दोषों का कारण व्यक्ति के अपने अमर्यादित कर्म ही होते हैं, जिनसे मुक्ति प्राप्त करने के लिये धर्म का आचरण ही औषधि का कार्य करता है। धर्म का अुनसरण करने से पिछले दुष्कर्मों का प्रायश्चित होकर मन में पवित्रता का संचार होता है।
