Blacksad: Under the Skin first screenshots. The game will launch for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, PC, and Mac in 2019.
About
Blacksad: Under the Skin is based on the world of the comic book series Blacksad, created by Juan Diaz Canales and Juanjo Guarnido and published by Dargaud.
For the first time, players will be able to see their hero John Blacksad in 3D, along with some of the game’s settings: the boxing club where his investigation begins or an alley in the city of New York, as imagined by Pendulo Studios and YS Interactive.
As part of this novelesque exclusive adventure, players will play the private detective John Blacksad, a cynical, seductive and nonchalant anthropomorphic cat.
“We want the player to discover all sides of John Blacksad’s complex personality and choose the one he wants to be,” said Pendulo Studios game designer Josue Monchan in a press release.
Story
In 1950s New York, Joe Dunn, the owner of a humble boxing club is found hanged. At the same time, Robert Yale, his protege and greatest hope, is reported missing. Although overwhelmed by these terrible events, Joe Dunn’s daughter, Sonia, decides to continue working towards her father’s dreams: she takes over the boxing club and calls on John Blacksad to investigate this mysterious disappearance. It’s the eve of the fight of the year and the club, which is in serious financial difficulties, will not survive Robert’s withdrawal. The investigation will lead John Blacksad to the very heart of a world in which corruption reigns supreme.

The start of something new...
Hello readers! Before starting any post on this University Assignment Blog, I would like to introduce myself because I think each artist's work is related to his previous experiences and stories.
So, My name is Arnaud. I am a 22 years old game artist from France currently studying at the University of Hertfordshire in the United Kingdom. I cannot remember how many games, childish stories, and univers I created during my childhood, but I always knew I wanted to work in that field somehow.
After my social and economic baccalaureate in France, I searched my way for a bit. I did
first a preparatory art class with architecture design specialization. Then I joined a school in the north of France called Rubika Supinfogame.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Over there, I started my first year in a Game Design course, and this is how (by working with game artists in various group projects) I became passionate about the Game Art role. The following year, I asked to change course and join and finish my bachelor in the Game Art classes.
Thought, This school was more specialized in Indie, mobile, and very low poly games. And what I find fascinating about the game industry is that it is constantly at the cutting edge of technology, pushing further the limits of what's possible every year with new workflows, hardware, and technology releasing.
Hence, I decided to start this new adventure here in Hertfordshire with their master of Game Art and Design.
Up until now, I've specialized in environmental art, in a more realistic art style but still in fantasy and imaginary settings. I like making ruins from the past, overgrown and otherworldly-looking foliages, and colossal world creation.
(Here is the most recent project I finished before arriving at Herts)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I would like during this year to acquire skills to work later on in a AAA video game studio in the making of hyper-realistic and challenging environments and props. My favorite company that I would like to work on would be Guerilla Games, Naughty dogs, and Ubisoft Massive.

Hello ! What games do you recommend playing if we want to study game art at supinfogame ? I'm sorry if I'm bothering you but I'm really stressed over the exam ;-;
What games? Well, try to know what are the latest games. Get in touch with the news and basic game stuff.( general and artistic culture.) It' s important for the writing exam and you might have questions about that. However, what s important is not playing a looooot of games. It s knowing what you re talking about and being eager to learn more about video games. When you ll have to talk about yourself in front of a jury, Games are not that important. You need to be open minded and curious. Talk about games you truly enjoy and that gave you the strenght to try your chance too. Also don t only talk about that, im sure you have other hobbies and it s as much important. So yea. Enjoy yourself and relax ! Our school is not as strict as it was when i entered there. i'm sure you have all your chances ! Just scream your passion and try your best. (●`♡●!)

Hi ! I was that you're a student from supinfogame, and I wanted to ask if you had any advices for people (like me) who'll try to enter this school next year ?
Oh yea! Sure! (●0●!) Im on mobile and it s gonna be difficult to write a lot but here we go! i know it s way easier to enter in the school since the past 2/3 years. Art is not as important as before and they accept more people. I think the most important is to have a good portfolio for the meeting. Be confident, play other video games than the most common ones from the AAA industries and believe in yourself. We truly think that passion and motivation is the motor of our work.Even if you re not talented,if you re motivated to learn,it s the most important. If you can, come at the open day of the school and i ll talk a bit more and review your work. ( also if you draw manga. Stop that right now. (>♡<!!) Oh and if you want to become game designer. Start drawing. You ll have art classes and suffer with the game artists.)
