“Huh?” A blink of surprise is all she can manage, falling silent for a brief moment. Then another.
…Oh.
“Ah, of course, my apologies. It seems in my excitement I had forgotten my manners.” Right. She was invisible to him, before now. And it’s not as though Byleth ever spoke of her to him before, besides the rare occasion they would share a ‘I had a weird dream last night. Anyway.’ She probably looks insane right now, doesn’t she?
“My name is Sothis. I am…” Dear goddess how is she meant to explain this!?She can’t just come out and say ‘Hey! I lived in your child’s head for the past however-old-we-are and have been secretly watching everything you say and do since they were a child!’ That’d only make her look MORE insane! “…A friend, of Byleth. ‘Best friends’, perhaps you could say.”
The perfect cover. Though she does not, in fact, know if perhaps she could say. Whether or not Byleth would agree, should he approach them to confirm, she knows even less. But they better. After all she’s done for them, she quite frankly deserves the title of ‘best’!
“They… speak of you, often. It is through them that I know you. Quite the high regard they hold you in.”
[ MULLED WINE ] - Warm red wine spiced to perfection, ideal for staving off winter’s chill.
“You are Jeralt, the ‘Blade Breaker’, yes? How strange it is to see you in the flesh.” The girl lets out a quiet laugh, hidden behind a hand. Of course, she hadn’t needed to ask. She knows all too well who he is, as though he’s an old friend. Who, in the mind of the green haired girl, he basically is. She’s known him for the entirety of her consciousness, after all.
The only thing strange about this meeting, for her, was her position now, feet planted firmly on the floor rather than lying upon nothing but air. She hadn’t realized just how tall he was, before.
“Ah! Right — this is for you.” Sothis lowers her hand from her mouth to help her other in supporting her gift, presenting him with the small bit of wine that was unreasonably hard to obtain, for whatever reason. Though it is worth it! Hopefully. He likes this sort of thing after all, if she recalls correctly! The strange stares are a small price to pay for making a good impression on the captain.
"I believe the organizers wish for us to exchange charms, as well, correct? In any case; here, ” Further doubling down, she digs out her second gift; a small turtle charm. She doesn’t know exactly how much stake he’s invested in this little game, but what could it hurt? Extra charms bring little harm. “In commemoration of our official meeting. It is a pleasure.”
“That’s me.” A small nod followed by a raise of his brow at her words. He doesn’t recognize her, and he surely would’ve if they met each other before with that unique look of hers. “What’s so strange about it?”
The corner of his mouth perks up at the wine, and he takes the drink with a chuckle. That, combined with the way she speaks to him as if she knows him beyond his reputation makes him a tad curious, but he supposes he’ll let it slide for now. This is definitely just a way for her to get into his good graces. Jeralt watches her pull out a charm, and in turn, he hands her his own out of courtesy. “Wine, huh? Nice to meet you, but you haven’t given me your name yet.”

[ RELAX ] - For those looking to take a breather, the cabana located a short ways from the ball's epicenter might be the answer. Take a seat in the chairs lined up side-by-side on the porch and pour yourself a drink from the chilled wine bottle as you have a fine view of the ocean. A white hammock lies inside for those who want to recharge before jumping back into the fray.
Even though he’s all accustomed to small talk and chatter, sometimes, the social battery needs a moment to recharge. Thankfully, the sea breeze is just the refresher he needs to ease up a little, and enjoy the view. As he approaches the cabana to catch a glimpse of the water, he notices someone else standing to the side.
Oh no. Rhea.
He’s already stepped foot underneath the cabana’s roof. Surely, she must have noticed him enter. Already, he’s starting to spin up an excuse in his mind so that he can run off and leave.
“... Didn’t know you’d be here, Lady Rhea.” Jeralt speaks after a moment of silence. “You’re enjoying your time here, I assume?”
Was their meeting simply a coincidence or did Rhea subtly try to create a seemingly natural situation where she’d ‘by accident’ find herself within Jeralt’s direct vicinity? Both. Neither. Who knows. But regardless of the intention (or lack of) behind the circumstances of their meeting, Rhea still eyed the man with nothing but kindness- tinted with a glint of curiosity. She didn’t feel anything particular about the man, if anything only delighted that he was back at the monastery after disappearing into the mercenary life and that supposed fire.
Just the shadow of questions, looming over them both for two decades now.
She offered him a nod in greeting. “Jeralt. I admit it is quite the exceptional occasion, but I could not decline such a kind invitation from Viscount Menja.” Sitting down with a glass of icy lemonde in her hands, she eyed the knight carefully for a moment.
Not now, she decided. They’d have time for that later.
“I am, yes. Not only is the location a much welcome change from our customs for the Ethereal Ball, but it is too an opportunity for many to finally rest and enjoy a moment of peace after so many difficult moons.” Taking a sip of her drink, her gaze met his’ again. “And how about you, Jeralt?”

(A man like Captain Jeralt is respectable indeed, not only for his physical strength, but his down-to-earth demeanor which keeps those around him at ease. Perhaps there are things I could learn from him, but it might be best for me to keep my distance and perform the tasks I am given.
I fear a man with his prowess and wisdom can sense the sins on my back. He need not trouble himself with such things.)

(No, no. Avert your eyes. he's much too famous. A renowned mercenary, Captain of the Knight of Seiros, father of a beloved professor...there's too many eyes on him. Would I be wasting his time, asking to chat? I'd love to see how he gambles...
No. I should keep my distance.)

Well, Lukas has already wiped the floor with her on more than one occasion tonight, and she's quite certain that with a loss that heavy, there's little chance of her redeeming herself. But with a new beginning comes new opportunities-- settling in with a drink and her trusty deck of cards, she motions for Sin to take a seat across from her. "Good news for you. You don't have to be good to win. It's all about the luck of the draw." (Yeah, she'd know a lot about that, wouldn't she?) There's another familiar mop of hair that seems to be lingering and looking awfully bored... and so she glances over her shoulder to wave in Jeralt's direction as well. She knows him well enough to know that he's looking for any sort of distraction to pass time; they're both soldiers through and through, a stuffy party doesn't suit either of their tastes. Especially not one so noisy, even if there is alcohol flowing freely. "Hey. You look bored. Come spice things up for us over here, yeah?" Shamir doesn't wait for a response before dealing out 2 cards to herself, to Sin, and then to a blank spot that she's reserved for the former Captain. This time, in contrast to the last few games she's played... she doesn't flip her cards over just yet. Maybe that's why she's been having bad luck-- she's been going first. No harm in switch it up, right? "Have at it, boys. Take your pick of who takes it away." @bladebrecher @chryssaetos

I actually would consider Lysithea as Houses! Claude's other best friend rather than Lorenz just like I wouldn't say Ferdinand is Edelgard's other best friend(I'd say it's Dorothea tbh). Lorenz inherently splits on Claude in most Houses! timelines unlike Lysithea & Claude's A support with Lysithea is Claude expressing that Lysithea is very uniquely dear to him whereas with Lorenz it's more about mutual respect. There's stronger feelings at least from Claude to Lysithea versus Claude to Lorenz. What do you think
I think that each character in the Deer in uniquely close to Claude in their own way. I don't think best friend is the best way to have described Lorenz's relationship to Claude, but it's hard to come up with another descriptor that describes their closeness without putting rank into play.
I mentioned it before, but when Claude faces down Dimitri in Three Hopes he takes Hilda and Lorenz to do so, which to me indicates that Claude relies upon him greatly. Each house has sort of a "right and left hand man" kind of deal with the retainer and a rival? Hubert and Ferdinand and Dedue and Felix, being what comes to mind for me. It's different for Claude, purposefully, because Hilda is a retainer in name only and again more of a friend (not to say that Dedue and Hubert are not their Lord's friend, they very much are, but that for them "retainer" is an actual role with duties while Hilda's just prevents recruitment in all routes) and Lorenz's rivalry with Claude ends up with them being equals.
When you say "split" I assume you mean endings and not recruitment? I think that Lorenz and Claude build up that respect partially because of the mutual fondness they develop for each other during Three Houses. Their A support shows off the high opinion they have of each other; the way Lorenz is able to be critical in good faith and fondness while Claude is able to be trusting and open. The whole conflict between them initially was Claude appearing out of nowhere to take the reigns of the Alliance, and the A support shows just how far they've come--that while Lorenz would not hesitate to step up to the plate, he refuses to let Claude disappear or die on him so that they can shape the future together.
Even though their A support ends up with them physically separate from each other, the fact that they're both strong leaders meeting on equal grounds to shape the future they both want.
I think the relationship between Claude and Lorenz and Claude and Lysithea is very different, and thus hard to compare. On the surface, it seems similar; they both have fond antagonism and worry in their supports, but politics and dreams of the future really define Claude and Lorenz's support chain in a way it doesn't for him and Lysithea.
Actually, I think the most interesting thing about that support chain is the fact that Claude never tries to sus out Lysithea's secrets. At least three other support chains with Lysithea involve heavy discussion of her two crests (Lindhardt comes to mind, as well as Edelgard), but Claude, who's entire support chain with Marianne centers around her secrets (and eventually apologizing by revealing one of his own), isn't particularly interested in what she's hiding.
(Although, and not to tangent--Marianne's secret and Claude's own are much more similar in that if they get out they would both fear for harm coming to their person's. Although Marianne's makes her feel like a monster and Claude's does not even though other people might want him to be.)
I think Claude and Lysithea do have a very close relationship! I think Lystithea is uniquely dear to him, but I think all the Deer are. Lysithea definitely holds a special place in his heart (and in my soul I think any child of his with a Fodlan name would probably be named after her), but I don't think there's much to get comparing her relationship with him to Lorenz? Even putting their support chains aside.
Lysithea is a character who very much believes she is going to die young, and is desperately trying to wrap up her affairs before she does so. Despite this, it doesn't really have a baring on her relationship with Claude aside from the fact that it's her unseen motivation to work herself so hard.
I will say, their A support ending is adorable and super romantic. I think Claude abandoning his post for her says a lot about their relationship--he's not entrusting his dream to her, but rather taking it out of his own hands in order to ensure that she will be apart of the future he envisions. Insane. I love love.
All of Claude's paired endings involve him working with the person he loves to achieve his dream. While some are comparable (while I don't ship them, I think Hilda working hard to be good at diplomacy so that she could help Claude improve relations between Almyra and Fodlan is absolutely adorable) in their intensity, I think Lorenz and Lysithea's actually really are not. Because, really, while Claude is trusting an unknown family member to his throne in Almyra when he abdicates to be with Lysithea, who is he trusting Fodlan to but Byleth and Lorenz (and all their other friends of course).
Again, as I've said before, it's hard to compare some of the relationships (particularly romantic ones) in three houses purely based on the fact that a big feature of this game is that every character needs to be able to end up with Byleth or another one of their friends
It's really hard to discern where exactly the relationships between Lysithea and Claude and Lorenz and Claude differ in closeness, but I think I've come to this conclusion:
Lorenz is Claude's other "best friend" in the Deer, not because he's closer to Lorenz then anyone else, but because Lorenz is the one meant to fill the rival role of left-hand man, in the way Ferdinand does for Edelgard.
I agree with you, Lysithea and Claude are very close in a way that differs from their relationships with other people. I just don't think that Lysthiea fills the narrative role that Lorenz does.
(I do think Claude names a kid of his after her, if you don't chose their ending.)
#twila talks#twila answers#fe3h#lysithea von ordelia#claude von riegan#lorenz hellman gloucester#thank you for the ask anon i really enjoyed writing this#i'm not sure if i came to an acceptable conclusion but i think it's important in three houses esp#to acknowledge the frame work and narrative aspects of the gameplay#jeralt is as they say: doomed by the narrative haunting the narrative narrating the narrative lmao#I can't really compare claude's relationship with anyone to hilda and lorenz because they are his narratively assigned right and left men#and do a great job at it considering the golden deer have much more non traditional versions of that role compared to the other houses#in a world with just platonics i think claude and lysithea are more likely than claude and lorenz to just hang out in a non formal setting#alone i mean#trying to establish that i think they're besties while also clarifying the narrative role i meant in my previous post lol#i also don't want to diminish how much lysithea is relied upon by claude both in universe and out of universe#out of universe i mean me specifically using the leonie felix lysithea stride dance warp combo to one turn post timeskip levels with claude#or lysithea just casually nuking people in one hit when you play her in any stage of the game i love her#even at the roundtable i think the ordelia's probably provide Claude with a support due in part to lysithea herself#although again her family is similarly to lorenz cautious about the empire during the war since they're a border territory and well. you kn#TO CONCLUDE. FOR REAL THIS TIME I SWEAR#lorenz is claude's narrative assigned best friend (left hand man) and does a good job of that and i didn't fully clarify that in the previo#post. Lysithea and Claude have a relationship not affected by politics but not detached from it. they are exceedingly close in a notable wa#love both lorenz and lysithea with my whole heart <3 deserve the world or maybe just a second gloucester relic#someone go kill another one of rhea's siblings or maybe just find a clone glitch skjdfhdksj

I don't know if this is me being a genius or just having a weird way of reading people but 99% of the time if I get into a piece of media and there's a character who people say was written as if the writer(s) clearly just wanted you to hate them, I'm like. what. because I loved that character the whole time and I did not at any point hear the meta voice telling me not to

So, the knight-captain doesn't visit the sauna. Shinon believes it as far as he could throw the great bastard. Somethin' about... the guilty, and how they protest. Rhys would know the phrase.
Shinon doesn't need fancy words. He can smell bullshit just fine.
But, whatever. Why should he care? What a man does is his business, and Shinon's... Shinon's real concerned with his own business right about now.
Y'see, it gets a... gets a bit lonely 'round here. Stranger in a strange land, surrounded by hoity-toity knight-types who can't stand the sound of a cussword or the slightest whiff of beer. Fuck 'em. Whatever. Shinon doesn't care.
He'll find folk who can put up with him, folk who'd maybe like to do more than put up with him, and the men's half of the sauna in the crying shame of night seems like a decent place to look.
He skulks inside. Undresses, slings a towel low around his rangy hips. Ties his hair up, piles it all on top of his head. He'd rather not sweat so damn much.
(Yeah, he knows it's s'posed to be the point of a sauna. Not as far as he's concerned.)
Shinon takes one step inside the sauna proper and near about faints. The air is like stew. Like the way a hangover feels inside his head, except it's all around him.
What shakes him from the stupor is a weary long-suffering sigh--but what really rattles him is the sight of Captain Jeralt Himself. His leonine head down, perspiration gleaming on his broad, broad back, hell, the way his forearms stand like stone pillars between his knees and tired temples.
Shinon's jaw damn near falls off--but he stays cool. As cool as he can get in this Valley of Torment, as cool as he can get while he's thinking shit, is Jeralt Himself in the sauna this late for... y'know...?
For the same sordid reason Shinon is?
No. That's fucking stupid. The man's just suffering from success. He just wants to blow off some steam in peace.
But Shinon never said he was a smart man. When he sits down, it's an inch or two too close; it's with a sultry little smirk across his face.
"You're a shit liar," he snickers, in a way that he thinks is companionable. "The way I see it, if y'r gonna do somethin' secret, don't go tellin' people you're not gonna do it."
But maybe it works on the rest of the rank and file. There's no one else here.
Fascinating.
maybe don't walk in on your boss

“Captain Jeralt was one of our most decorated knights, a true symbol of what it means to be a Knight of Seiros. Many of our current soldiers, both veterans and newly recruited, know of his name and find themselves proud to be serving under the same conditions that the infamous Blade Breaker once was. Of course, they too are aware of his current status as a mercenary, but that does not diminish his outstanding performance as a warrior. I could not be happier to see him return to us after being away for so long.”
“...the truth he offered me that day was, sadly, rather murky. I have spent many years attempting to locate him to no avail, wanting to simply converse in casual manner, and yet he has always found a way to vanish into the forest. He acts as if I were conducting a hunt against his person, when it could not be more wrong. I do not understand the reason behind his actions.”
“If what you had told me that day was the truth, why do you hide, Jeralt?”
“Is there anything you wish to tell me?”
“I have questions for you, Captain.”

childhood friends to lovers with byleth
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing: byleth eisner x gn!reader
tags: childhood best friend!byleth, mercenary!byleth & reader, slowburn romance, oblivious idiots to lovers, wholesome fluff
Tumblr media
there weren't a lot of kids around jeralt's mercenaries, but byleth and you were the exception! both of your dads were mercenaries, leading to the two of you growing up together!
byleth and you not only played together as kids, but you trained together as well! you were in a similar league of strength after all…
while it had started off as just two kids wanting to be a little more like their dads, you two soon began to take training seriously, wanting to become mercenaries just like your fathers!
byleth always supported you and pushed you to your limits during training, but deep down, they weren't that fond of the idea of you joining the mercenaries…
looking back on it as an adult, byleth realizes that they didn't want you to take on such a dangerous career, because they cared so much about you and were worried they'd lose you…
byleth even suspects that they might've developed a crush on you at around that time! though it took them until almost adulthood to truly realize their feelings for you!
both of you became mercenaries once you got older and the two of you always fought alongside each other! you always took on missions together and shared the money with each other!
you might've lived like that for many years to come, fighting alongside each other, but never being more than just friends, despite your romantic feelings for each other
but then byleth got an offer to work at the officers academy! and you would've had to stay behind as a mercenary, separating the two of you for good…
only when faced with the realization that you might not be with each other anymore did the two of you finally act upon your feelings! and like always, you were in sync, even when it came to the confession…
both of you confessed at the same time, though byleth managed to get the words out just a bit quicker than you…
byleth not only confessed to you, but told you outright that they'd drop the job at the officers academy in a heartbeat, if you asked them to!
byleth's dream was always to be by your side as a mercenary! and if it was your dream too, then they'd stay with you, making that dream a reality…
though perhaps, you might also enjoy a position at the officers academy. maybe as a combat instructor, working alongside byleth? maybe this way, you could still be together, despite your dreams changing…

what is even chapter order lol
If Rhea had more spotlight, I'm afraid to say she would steal the entire show.
I mean, idk if you've already finished SB, but she's memorable there, so give her more spotlight in AG? Apologies to Dimitri and the BL peeps, but I'd prefer to follow her 10 times over following the Lions.
Lol@Rhea being in the camp just after Dimitri recruited Jerry, promising him to make sure they wouldn't meet her lol.
But just like the greater Nabatean plot, nothing ever comes out of this potential goof - even if Sothis who apparently has her memories here should do something when she meets her living children, but well...
I think you get the most out of recruiting Jerry'n'Billy in SB or GW, because Jeralt has supports with SB exclusive characters (and devs bias I guess) where you learn that, uh, well, he's no dad of the year material, even if Billy is also part of that support!
I really like how Yuri and Dimitri support start dangerously close to "but maybe Supreme Leader is right and the people should decide for themselves", until Yuri reminds him that, no, to first decide people need to be fed, in relative good health and have a home, only then, if those conditions are met, they will be able to decide what they want to do.
Also Dedue and Annette support is one of the few instances (iirc Leonie had one with Catherine) where we see people being envious of crests and relics, not because of the status they can bring, but because of the power they give to their wielders.
Annette being Annette gives the good answer, everyone can help in different ways!
She never laughed or cried either, like Byleth, not at first at least.
THIS
Jeralt's reason for running away bcs Rhea BaD is bcs she did something to his baby and baby doesn't cry or laugh - but that's the exact same condition Sitri apparently had!
Hopefully the support doesn't tell us anything about Sitri's heartbeat, because if she too, didn't have any that would make Jeralt's escape even more stupid in hindsight, like "oh noes, my kid has the same condition as their mother, it must be the midwife's fault, she's BaD".
At least Jerry seems to regret, after 21 years, the lifestyle he picked for Billy - not that this will lead to anything, since you can recruit them in SB/GW. Byleth is happy to have Jeralt, at least, so everything's well that ends well, right?
Jeralt's paralogue and support with a SB character throw a wench in this picture lol
Haha, I laughed when I read your impressions seeing Claude now! Given what happens in the next couple of chapters though...
IDK if you got Catherine and Emile's support, but it's defnitely worth a read!
Azure Gleam Ch 13
Alright guys, we're getting close to finishing this thing - like 10 years later, but still here.
MAIN STORY
Ok, guys, the hard battle is over. Dimitri stomping everything is all I have left to do, I hope.
I wonder if I dislike Claude now. He's here and on our side, but I think "ew" and "ugh" when I see him now.
Claude suspects stuff.
Seteth is lecturing Hilda for whining lamo.
Seeing Claude, Rhea, and Dimitri all fight on the same side is cool, even if I find Claude annoying as fuck right now.
I wish Rhea would lead the knights herself, but instead she just gets sidelines so hard in AG. Hopes as a whole tgh.
Oh! No side battles! Not all that mad. Bc that means this'll speed things up a bit lol.
MAP/SIDE BATTLE
Sylvain is admiring Dimitri and Felix and how good of leaders they are. He's hoping he gets his act together soon too lol.
It's cool seeing Byleth and Jeralt around. Rhea's here too. The camp is packed with little blue and yellow dots.
There's a letter from Glenn on the table :(
Seems a bit cheap that Byleth only supports Jeralt and Shez, but can reach A with everyone. Like a cop out.
Honestly, neither of them have a ton of supports (Jeralt or Byleth). A bit bummed, but I guess you get them kind of late. Too bad this game never got a DLC. Byleth/lord supports would've sold that.
ANNETTE & DEDUE B
Annette needs help using Crusher. It's too heavy for her.
Annette thinks she needs to gain weight, but Dedue says that's not everything and is willing to help her out.
He helps her train with a bag of rocks and credits him with the motivation to try.
Dedue hesitates a bit when replying to her though, making Annette curious.
Pretty much a set up for part 2.
ANNETTE & DIMITRI B
Their only support this game.
Annette creates a disaster in the kitchen (or training grounds, unclear). With Dimitri's help. So . . . they tried cooking together? Yeah. That was never going to end well.
Dimitri and Annette both blame themselves. Dimitri "wins" though.
Dimitri wishes he were better with magic, but it runs in the family. He wanted to be a mage when he was younger.
"An old friend of mine would give magic demonstrations." - probably Edelgard?
Annette is willing to help Dimitri learn magic. She wants to get better at teaching. Dimitri really wishes he could learn magic.
Annette really wants to be a teacher.
She encourages him not to hold back. I think he made another explosion. Poor Annette has her work cut out for her lol.
INGRID & MARIANNE B
Horse girls final support.
Ingrid's been trying to figure out what her horse is thinking/wants based on behavior but is struggling.
Unlike Marianne, but, you know, she has help lol.
Ingrid's horse doesn't want to move again, so Marianne comes to help.
The horse/pegasus doesn't want to go to the battlefield because she's worried about Ingrid (and remembering Scarlet Blaze, that sucks, Fuck SB for killing Ingrid)
Ingrid is getting better connecting with her horse, and now will go get to save her friend.
When Ingrid's leaving, Marianne starts wishing for something but doesn't say what, Ingrid guesses horseback riding together and guesses right.
Ingrid credits to spending time with Marianne and getting to know her.
So Ingrid and Marianne are friends now. Good for both of them.
SHEZ & RODRIGUE A
Rodrigue is looking for a book on mercenaries.
When Shez asks why, Rodrigue skirts around it and Shez calls him out.
After a tough battle with Jeralt and co, Rodrigue wants to read up on mercenaries to make sure he understands their tactics better and avoid potential disaster.
Shez is impressed with Rodrigue for still studying after so long.
Rodrigue says he's not as smart as Gautier or courageous as Lambert, so he has too.
Shez says Rodrigue and Felix are close alike than either would admit - they both always want to improve themselves.
(and that Dimitri and Sylvain are like their dad's too)
Rodrigue still feels he doesn't measure up to the other two though :( But I'm happy Shez had such nice things to say about Rodrigue.
MERCEDES & ASHE B
Ashe turned pale while training. He plays it off as nothing, but Mercedes calls him out.
He got a minor injury, which reminded him of seeing a ghost.
Oh, poor Ashe, Mercedes starts playing 100 questions with him - wanting to know what it was wearing lol.
Ashe tells the story - he went looking for herbs to help his sick brother and saw a ghost in the fog. While running away, he got a similar injury.
Mercedes isn't scared of his tale. She's heard it before. In her tale, it wasn't a ghost though, but a shadow. Making Ashe think he saw his own shadow too.
Now Ashe thinks he lived in fear of his own shadow, lamo.
Ashe is like, you should hear this guy's story, and there's no one there.
But this isn't Ashe pulling on Mercedes, but him thinking he found another ghost because there was never anyone else around, lol.
FELIX & RAPHAEL A
Raphael wants to work out. Felix yells at him for being loud and giving him away.
Felix is boar hunting lamo.
Raphael talks about how Petra taught him a special technique. So now we have a Deer and Lion training, talking about an Eagle.
The boar they're hunting is wounded, but Felix is still weary of it.
Felix failed to hunt a boar before.
Dimitri once hunted so many animals that they couldn't fit them all on the sled lol. Felix struggled to get one.
Raphael gets confused when Felix is talking about boar, if he means a real boar or Dimitri lol.
Raphael wants to help Felix get revenge for the boar that got away.
And he attacks head-on, much to Felix's dismay, but he got it. Felix is a bit stunned it went down so quickly.
Felix admits that maybe working with friends helps sometimes. And Raphael is happy Felix called him friend.
This was actually way more entertaining than I thought it would be (Raphael supports can be . . . you know . . . dull or amusing, this one was amusing)
Plus I love hearing the story of Dimitri being an apex hunter as a child and Felix grumbling off trying to bag his own boar and failing lamo.
RODRIGUE & FELIX A
Rodrigue wants to talk. Felix tried to brush him off. And Rodrigue's like shut up and sit down, boy. But nicely.
He wants to talk because neither know when they'll die and don't want lingering regrets. Which, knowing what happens in Azure Moon . . . :(
Rodrigue apologizes for what he said about Glenn. Which I find a bit stupid because he was a grieving father so . . .
Thankfully, Rodrigue gets to explain his thoughts behind it. Acknowledging Glenn's agency in his decisions too.
Felix denies Glenn's agency and can only get Dimitri to say he caused Glenn to die :(
Rodrigue acknowledges that, but asks Felix what he would've done. Let Dimitri die and run away to save himself or do what Glenn did.
Felix gets angry at the idea that saving your own life is cowardice and that, when the time actually comes with something like that, you don't think - only act. So . . . he walked into Rodrigue's trap lol, who'll say then Glenn acted and choose to act that way.
Felix is such a dunce, saying "we'd both survive." Rodrigue rightly accuses him of wanting it both ways lol.
Felix says he understands Rodrigue's way of thinking, but dislikes Glenn's death being glorified.
Felix apologizes too, for his own bad behavior. For hitting Rodrigue.
Felix can't stand dealing with feelings anymore and leaves lol.
I'm sooooo glad this game let Rodrigue have a voice. It was always obvious to anyone with a shred of media literacy what Rodrigue meant, but Hopes let him spell it out.
DIMITRI & YURI B
Yuri's staring at Dimitri. Same. Same.
Yuri's impressed/confused at how quickly Dimitri blended in.
Dimitri's now thinking about the best way to help the poorest (we stan a good king, guys). It's something he's thought a lot about.
He thought medical facilities or investing more in the church (who do more to help the poor than anyone else in this game) would be best, but being around them made him realize that they should get the chance to take charge of their own "destiny."
He wants rulers to actually listen to what the people need best and actually do it rather than what's best for himself.
Yuri says education for everyone is necessary. Dimitri agrees.
But then Yuri makes the point that people won't care about education if they're starving or homeless. (so really, his earlier goals of building medical facilities where people get free/cheap healthcare isn't too far off).
So Dimitri wants to improve quality of life, then build educational reform on top of that.
But of course Edelgard's warmongering is draining money, so Dimitri can't make lives for the common folk better and needs to end the war fast so he can focus on helping people and not keeping little miss imperialist away.
Yuri says if money's the problem, he can use Yuri who can connect Dimitri to merchants and hitman lol. Dimitri's like "no working evil in my name!" He's also cautious about working with Yuri because he's backstabbed people in the past.
Yuri says he promises to honestly work with Dimitri, even protect him, because working with Dimitri will help his dream come true too. So he believes in Dimitri's leadership and vision.
Dimitri says he's grown to trust Yuri too.
Man, I need a sequel game where Yuri and Dimitri work on improving Faerghus together.
SHEZ & FELIX B
So . . . I had no idea I hadn't seen this support yet. I have their A unlocked for a while now too, though, I'll wait to see it since I'm getting support fatigue at the moment.
They're training. Felix insults Shez's footwork. What a typical Felix support lol.
Shez says she has a lot on her mind. Felix calls her a worthless partner if she's training distracted.
And then explains how Shez can't afford to do that on the battlefield (like a mercenary needs telling that lol).
Shez is surprised how much Felix has a read on her.
Felix wants to know where Shez learned how to fight because it's not like a knife or a mercenary.
Shez had a lot of teachers and just picked up stuff here and there. She doesn't use the playbook that knights or mercs usually use.
Shez says she has her unique style which is to her benefit. Felix wants her to teach him. But Shez thinks it's too reliant on the sword Felix can't use. Felix is like try me.
I can agree or refuse to teach him. Obviously I'm agreeing. (I would totally be an ass if it was character I didn't like lol).
Shez comments on Felix's style too - reacting to the say things are playing out.
Shez thinks she'll get stronger too.
I seriously can't believe I let these two sit at B for so long.
ANNETTE & DEDUE A
Annette comes across Dedue training. She insists he takes a break, but he insists on training still because he's not strong enough.
He feels inadequate because he can't use a hero's relic.
He admits he's jealous that others can use such powerful weapons.
Annette's surprised that he opened up, and appreciates that he opened up around her after he tried to dial back and apologize.
Annette talks about how impressed she is with him - his ability to cook and sow where she can't, and his sheer strength despite not using a relic. She thinks he'd be too good if he could use one lol.
Dedue talks about her strengths too - her optimism and how that lifts everyone up around her. Annette is happy if she can help anyone even a little.
Annette made dinner. The bottom of the pot fell out, but she insists that dinner still tastes great.
Someone tell Annette she's not destined to work in marketing lol.
Dedue still goes to eat dinner after hearing that. Brave man.
BYLETH & JERALT B
Definitely one of the supports I was looking forward too.
Byleth has a lot of blood on his clothing and is trying to wash it out and is failing.
Jeralt says washing blood out is more work than it's worth. Proof that man's never had a period.
Jeralt says Byleth reminds him of Sitri when they first meant. She had the same quiet composure and would rather clean a handkerchief she was cleaning than throw it away.
She never laughed or cried either, like Byleth, not at first at least.
Byleth asks why Jeralt is talking about all this now. Jeralt says he's feeling guilty of the lifestyle he's given Byleth - no home, no friends, always battles.
He says life would be different if Sitri was still alive.
Byleth doesn't regret his life and likes having Jeralt around.
It's nice to learn more about Sitri.
JERALT & SHEZ C
Jeralt comes across Shez fishing. Shez is weary. Jeralt tells Shez to relax, but Shez isn't used to it.
Jeralt is like, we're mercs, life happens, it's not personal.
Shez brings up the beginning where Jeralt's Mercenaries wiped out Shez's old company. Glad they're addressing this.
Shez is still upset about it. Jeralt understands now.
He asks if Shez has a grudge. I can choose yes or no. I'm gonna choose yes. I think this Shez would admit to attachments to other people, plus the conflict is more interesting, I think.
Shez talks about how much she liked that group and shares her goals of defeating the Ashen Demon.
Jeralt's like, you just have to let that go now.
Shez admits she's partly relieved because she couldn't defeat Byleth. Jeralt is like, that means you think you could beat me? Shez is like, well, I'd have to try first.
Then Shez helps Jeralt untangle his fishing string and comments on his lack of dexterity.
Jeralt then apologizes about what happened to Shez's mercenary company, especially since it was just too minor lords spewing.
He says he didn't originally plan on killing them, but she (the old captain) came charging in trying to use Jeralt to make a name for herself.
Shez understands, but still seems regretful.
Def hope I can unlock their A in time to see how this resolved (they don't have a B support).
MAIN BATTLE
No side battles this chapter. Onto the showdown at Ailell. Which means fire ground. Ugh. Gonna make everyone a flier that it makes sense for.
They're run into the Black Eagles. The Emperor's personal force.
Claude is there. Man, I gotta play Three Houses again. Every time I see him I'm like "ugh." I did NOT used to think that way.
Wait, is Edelgard actually here? I thought she was some kind of zombie whatever.
TWSITD is there (or mysterious dark mages). Claude is like "you know these people?"
Man, why is Dimitri trusting Claude. Telling him "don't let your guard down." Dimitri wants Claude about the mages. I wouldn't count on Claude's support if he was the only person left.
Even though this IS the only route where Claude's actions make any sense lol. It's definitely in his best interest to put a stop to the Empire's warmongering.
Arval's like, maybe we can learn something this time!
Arval's not upset if they never learn the truth and promises to be with Shez always regardless.
I gotta defeat Duke Aegir and Edelgard. Interesting that she's actually there.
Ohh, persuade Death Knight. They were setting him up to be here, but I didn't know I could recruit him. Makes way more sense than in Houses where you can't. Not surprised you need Mercedes to do it. I always bring her anyways.
Dimitri took out Ladislava right away lol.
Death Knight showed up. I'm beyond seeing him as a scary opponent though lol.
Mercedes defeated the Death Knight as an NPC. Is that automatic or just funny coincidence?
Aegir and Edelgard ran away. Really wish I could've killed Aegir. Killing Edelgard would stop the war too.
I killed Caspar and Bergliez so fast the dialogue didn't even finish lol. Dimitri too strong. They both ran away. Honestly, couldn't care less about killing this version of Caspar.
Oh, cool cut scene. And, ok, it's cool to see Claude and Dimitri fighting back-to-back.
Claude tells Dimitri to run after Edelgard while he holds off the Empire here. Not sure I trust him at all, but like I said, this is the only route where his choices make any sense.
Dimitri has 74 strength lol. No wonder he kills everything so fast.
Cool to get Jeritza though.

Note
I believe that 50% of the hate Leonie gets is because people don't understand apprenticeships. The Master-Student relationship is not familial, but you traditionally live with them, eat with them, and learn from them every day. It's supposed to last seven years. I'd bet Jeralt didn't give her seven weeks before skipping town.
She spends years being defined as Jeralt's apprentice, the village hero, in her small community. It's become part of her identity by the time she goes to Garreg Mach. (How many hours, days, months, years does she spend going over and over the things he taught her before he left? How many people mocked her for not being able to get him to stay?) Of course she's going to be thrilled to find him again! Especially since he finally takes the apprenticeship seriously.
It has nothing to do with sex.
The other 50% is because grief can cause you to make bad, insensitive decisions. And for some reason people prioritize her B-Support, a one time event, over the fact that anytime else in the month she willingly acknowledges that Byleth is struggling more with the death of their father than Leonie is.
It's a knee jerk reaction. A bad one that she only apologizes for in her A-support with Byleth, which a lot of people don't see because they drop her after the B-Support. (Yes, the apology is followed by a claim that she's still Jeralt's best apprentice and Byleth's rival in that way, but that's always come off as her trying to crack a joke to me.)
The writers did her dirty and people don't understand her situation correctly. But she's a good character and a good unit. Most of her supports are fantastic and don't even mention Jeralt! She does have a personality beyond her Master-Student relationship with him. You just have to give her a honest chance and a little grace.
tldr; Leonie is misunderstood and is actually awesome and a good person.
(please forgive me if this counts as 3H discourse. i wasn't sure, but this is important to me so i had to try)

“Mya ha! They'll remember ME once I drive my axe into their... Wait... my axe! Where's my axe?!”
A private RP blog of Vaike from FE13, written by taro.
                STATS.    /     MUN.    /    DOSSIER.    /    AFFILIATION.
                                    Portrayal Notes under the cut!
My portrayal of Vaike is from his solo ending. I will write him assuming all his supports have reached A rank. If any Awakening muses would like to adjust that, let me know!
As he was raised in the slums and faced classism throughout his life, he doesn't have a particularly high opinion of nobles. He'll still be nice and friendly to muses from noble lineages, but this is just a heads up as he may make assumptive ( or unintentionally hurtful ) remarks about the upper class in general.
He is currently the father of Cynthia. This is subject to change in case there will be a Sumia present in TOA in the future.
Yes, he's walking around without a shirt 90% of the time.
The Vaike may be confused sometimes but he's got the spirit.
