Very glad the public at large is learning about what a freakish little cretin Vance is! The glazing he got from liberals after Hillbilly Elegy's success sickened me. Framing the story as this grand explanation of the Appalachian rightward drift was a genius marketing move towards liberals (who, by their nature, lack object permanence) -- but any sort of analysis that pierced the surface-level made its analytical facade slough off; displaying in full his distasteful Ivy League narcissism. This continued as he called Trump Hitler 2 on MSNBC, and again when he pivoted to being a "out of the box thinker" neo-tech conservative (Translator's note: Garden Variety China Hawk Neocon).
I genuinely have no idea why Trump chose him as his running mate. He's not even unique! Every Protestant to Catholic convert worships the computer and has read Moldbug. Most of them are more charismatic than Vance, too! Not to say it's a very big accomplishment.
The republicans really might've fucked themselves with this one, only time will tell. Kamala is xanned out basically every time she shows up in public, but in America that's kind of a recognizable type of person. She's human -- albeit in the grotesque and incomplete way that politicians often are. Vance is a collection of forum posts glued together with a sleeve-tugging desire to please some authority figure that he himself can't solidly conceptualize.
This, unfortunately for him, does not even approach the low bar required for a national political figure.
