@thunder-wolf64 is working on an AU in which one of Arti's pups (the green one, here named Sizzling Waters) gets adopted by scavs, and later reunites with his, erm, mentally unstable mom. If you are a reader who wants to see an AU with evil Arti, you will certainly enjoy Thunder's creations.

@threestarsaboveclouds is an iterator ask-blog that belongs to @delta-orionis, their posts are LONG and full of lore and I am honestly in awe people like Delta give so much to the RW fandom - it's free, high quality entertainment done purely for hobby. I have a lot of respect for their work. Besides, TSAC's color palette is very striking, which is what has initially drawn me to this AU.

@ask-the-colony-tree-siblings is @mushroominaforest's ask blog, and in this AU Arti and Hunter are siblings! Also, Mushroom's art style is a treat and immediately recognizable and I'm happy when i see it pop up in RW tag.

@firecracker-pup is run by @batnip; in a way it's a sibling-askblog to mine because both of our AUs center around the reinterpretation of Artificer's blue pup.

Honorable mentions:

@spotsupstuff's takes on RW lore and all their work surrounding iterators (my biggest blind spot) had my jaw drop to the ground and roll off into the seas - it's brilliant. I kid you not when I say I have +20 tabs open right now waiting there so I can binge-read Spot's posts once I get a free evening. There's so much of it... and I am ready to feast.

@opashoo has been working on a conlang for slugcats that I am 100% going to use in my AU. If you want to see amazing RW animations, art, and lore discussions, please follow her!

I'll admit, I feel like a lot of ask-blogs have died in the last 6 months? A handful of artists that were considered big - left the fandom. I'm not quite sure why that happened, but I'm hoping that the Watcher DLC brings some of them back (maybe).

Hello everyone, and welcome!

We are the denizens of the wondrous world we all know and love. And we have all gathered here to speak with you! Got anything you desire to say, ask, or send our way? Do it anytime you wish, and we shall respond - through our voices! - We are voice acting enthusiasts, some of whom, you may have already heard in some Rain World fan projects. You can send anything at a character - images, art, questions, ideas, videos, whatever you wish! And the character shall react - just like in any other askblog. But the difference is not just that we use voiceovers to answer (instead of art), but that the process is fully collaborative. As the VAs of the characters all have full creative control over what they say, instead of following the standard practice of one person writing/deciding everything.

Important things to note (please read before submitting):

Watcher spoilers are allowed, but will be tagged appropriately, mainly to account for the heavily delayed console release. (The creatures/characters of the DLC are also available to be played by VAs, though none of them have been taken yet. This post will be updated with spoiler tags if/when that happens)

When you send us something, make it abundantly clear which character you're addressing. You're allowed to address multiple, or even the entire cast.

NSFW submissions are not allowed. Mildly suggestive ones are fine, but they will not get a response, if the character you're addressing has a minor as its VA, or an adult that would be uncomfortable with it.

This project is fully non-canon. VAs are allowed to use headcanons and personal interpretations when answering. It's also not really meant to be serious, so feel free to send us silly stuff :3

You should only submit things for characters that actually have VAs, as you wouldn't be able to get a response otherwise.

The person primarily running this project and blog is me, @fadebolt. If you wish to voice act a character yourself, shoot me a DM, either here, or in Discord (my name is also 'fadebolt' there, and I'm in the main RW server, so finding me should be easy). There's absolutely no limit with the characters you could ask to VA. Slugcats (including Nightcat, as a separate character from Watcher), iterators, ancients, echoes, scavengers, any other species... they're all available! We also aren't limiting ourselves to just the base game. Characters from Downpour, characters from mods, OCs, and non-canon characters in general are also available (though if you're planning to VA a character owned by someone else, then make sure to consult them first). Recently, the VA of a few creatures, Asd, has disappeared without a trace. And as such, we're looking for new people to fill in their roles. Meaning that they're now fully open for taking! Those roles are the following: Green Lizard, Pink Lizard, Blue Lizard, Red Lizard, Caramel Lizard, Lantern Mouse, Squidcada, Pole Plant and Yeek. Just... don't ask for characters who are already taken. Asking to be a backup is fine (in fact, backup VAs would be more than welcome), but we're not stripping anyone of their role, just because someone else asked for it as well. This post will be regularly updated, with the list of all the taken characters, and their VAs. Characters who are not on the list do not have VAs, and are fully open.

ok the askbox is open. im taking this opportunity to say ohhhhh im going crazy over the narrative constructed here. specifically with how audience (anon) interaction is intertwined with the main conflict.

because its like.. we are inherently a BAD THING. yes, some of us are actually malicious, but even if we do have kind intentions, and only want the best for ragatha.. just being there is a negative impact that outweighs any positives. we are a parasite, after all. and technically, the only positive action we could do is to simply.. stop engaging. leave the askblog alone. leave ragatha alone. except we could never do that, because we're too curious now, too attached- we want to see how the story continues, how it ends. we cant leave well enough alone, we just have to know. we need to know. so the cycle will continue nonetheless due to our nature. and we have to watch as our main character, the person we're rooting for, gets worse and worse. knowing that its our fault, because we're choosing to engage. we're choosing this path of pain. because we're curious, and that curiosity would kill us if we didn't feed it.

and of course its on a tadc tumblr ask blog of all things lol. no hate btw. im here enjoying it after all! though honestly i say that like this had any opportunity of existing outside of the askblog genre... or even the tumblr landscape itself- i feel like the anon feature itself is also a big part of this sort of narrative, as it allows those actively malicious anons to be even nastier. because it distances us from our actions. like.. we're given a mask, something that obscures our true identities (both to the other askers.. and to ragatha to an extent, as most all look the same to her. who knows, maybe that one supportive anon trying to cheer her up is the same one also encouraging her downfall! she cant tell!)- a thing that wipes our hands free of any consequences. a chance to become faceless and untraceable- so of course some people will indulge. be as horrible as possible. because, hey, its not like you'll be getting any consequences for it! no way to trace it back to you! no way to be held accountable! you can just sit back and watch the fire you made grow higher. more bright. thats the main goal, after all- to make a spectacle! to move the story along and make it exciting! thats the only thing that matters to you. that its entertaining. not the people you'll be harming in the process.

i get pretty happy when someone dissects this silly thing so no need to apologize !! i'm my own harshest critic when it comes to this blog so it's often difficult for me to grasp what meaning people get out of this lol truly thank you guys for wanting to see my insane , Unhinged ideas come through

and i love the dissection on the mean anons - a lot of this thing hinges on actions having consequences after all ! every little thing will have an impact on ragatha's mental state . i'll say i think the anons have potential to not be as harmful - as there was a point in the blog's time where they acted more like inner therapists to ragatha than reality-bending beings of chaos ( good times ) . it just really depends on being patient with an actually mentally ill person like ragatha - it does fascinate me how people's frustration with her echoes real life mental health situations .

I'm back, as excuse for the absents, as I was busy making stuff with my art. But anyways. I like to show off the art of my own along with two au's that my mutuals made. The first is human Carol barb as his eye isn't filled with blood, he does do the supportive role for a mob but also enjoy some time dancing by himself as for fun and see what he might find interesting. My Mimii Oc's: One is the Mafia one that was meant for the pic that Glitch posted, and another is my opposite that Spam Caine did. As the opposite is an excited energized ring mistress that likes to bring fun and wish to go by her roles as she dislikes any **rude** people she encounters. She places them to the timeout corner. But either then that, she always gets up your face and ask to either join her adventures or see what entertains her at times. The TGL Human Au Art is where the group is playing Uno, while Kevin is making them pancakes for the morning. The TGL Heaven is where the four be walking down the hall, as Mel talks about her days and how she sees how people in down below always sin at times. And for Kevin and Mud, they talk about the poor lives down there and wish that they be redeemed.

I'm the mod of this page. You can call me Mist, or really anything, so long as it isn't masculine. I run @not-the-red-mist as my general Project Moon fanblog, but I decided to give an askblog a shot after seeing so many other people having fun with them! I can't guarantee I'll stick with it, though- We'll see! There were a lot of votes in favor of this on the poll I published, and I'm not used to having so many eyes on me.

I've chosen to go for a somewhat unserious approach here. Don't get me wrong, I'll still try to keep Ryoshu's character pretty consistent with what we see in-game. But, I have yet to go out of my way to read Hell Screen to really get a grasp of her possible motives, and she in general is one of the least talkative Sinners, so there's going to be a lot of interpretation, and some occasional projection of my own whims. If this blog is still going by time Canto 9 releases, we'll do a sort of "reboot" to bring her back into character.

In any case, I am not actually Ryoshu. Sorry to disappoint. But I'll do my best to bring her to life! I look forward to seeing what kind of trouble we can all get up to together!

OP: Hey, everybody. It sure has been a while, huh? Life has been really distracting and I've missed you guys for a long time :( I've been going over what to do and it's been killing me, but I think we all saw this coming. Biggerler is officially put on a pause. Biggerler was such a fun experience, SUCH a huge highlight on my summer. From making that first starting post to cranking out posts every night in NYC. It's been such a fun and great digital art learning curve for me and I couldn't believe how much people liked it. It was really, really uplifting.

That being said, I'm NOT actually CANCELLING him. As you guys can tell, my mind is constantly shifting from media to media. And as much as I want to stay with one media, I also know that these shifts each are a learning curve for me. The Lorax/Onceler fandom is a media that I will ALWAYS cherish and love, and I won't be surprised at ALL if I went back to it. (Let's be real, it's gonna happen. Heck, I'm planning on cooking up some more Biggerler and Truffula Flu doodles!) And yknow what, my favorite Onceler askblog of all time, LQ, has spanned across, like, 12 years (???)!! I definitely see myself coming back to this, since I feel so bad about not getting through even the first dang phase of his story.

All that being said, thank you. Thank you guys SO SO much for your support and fanart even?! Like, it's still crazy for me to think about. You guys are all so great and I still hope we can interact even though I may not be solely posting Biggerler and/or Onceler fandom content. I'm looking forward to seeing how the rest of my time on the wacky app goes >:)

Munday + Blog Updates

Howdy everybody! Sorry I've been away for so long. Besides depression and burnout kicking my butt, I've also had my interests lying elsewhere most of the time.

That, and very nearly having this blog be terminated and deleted. Thanks, Tumblr.

I'm starting to learn that I just don't have the energy (social, mental, or otherwise) to run askblogs like I used to, especially since I'm going to be working soon on top of this.

So what am I going to do about this? I'm going to be realistic.

I want to finish my blogs and put them in a place where I can feel satisfied ending them. I have a lot of stories I still want to tell with all of them, but the only way to tell them is to continue them. I definitely don't have the energy to update every day, especially since most answers now are short-form comics.

So I'm going to try to update once a week, every week, on Friday.

I'm going to focus primarily on Crewel-Intentions, but once that gets to a decent place, I might switch to @arc-of-creation or @clydes-tale .

To try to get me back into the groove of askblogging, I think i'm going to join the Magi event. I know I'm in the middle of an important arc on the blog, but I think I just really need something that isn't story-intensive, multiple panel answers. I'll probably do more text-based answers, too, both for the event and for the blog in general. It's just easier on me.

Okay, thanks for listening to my rambling! I'm excited to see and talk to everyone again!

I honestly never expected people to enjoy my art and writing— through the drawings or dialouges I make.

Happy to have fed you! 🥹 Characters that lack of information about themselves give other people alot of opportunities to try and work out what their personalities are like with the very few information they have. I did that with Chance, 007n7 and definitely the other characters.

With the little information [personality based] of a few characters like 007n7, I work with what I have usually. A single father who was the entire world to a child, now in a damned hell with no recollection of his own son? Now that I can work with— along with other characters and how it affects them. Two Time is from a cult so of course I made them religious. Too religious. Theres still much to write about them!

[Here are a few drawings I made when I was figuring out how I wanted them to act. I made sure they kept mentioning the Spawn to make them seem like they’re too deep in their beliefs. Sorry if you can’t read my handwriting LMAO. TW// Sacrificial self harm scars…]

When it comes to other blogs, I happily accept their interactions! It’s always so nice to see roleplay alot as it contributes to my writing and it helps me A TON with working a character’s personality. Thats why I draw comics— mainly characters speaking to each other to show their traits, subtle or not. It also helps me think: ‘How would this guy act in a situation?’ or a ‘How would they respond/act if this happened?’ I LOVE thinking of the many possibilities— testing out one’s character.

☼ anon, if you ever do make a Forsaken AU blog, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEA/ref/nf. Do not EVER back away to interact with this blog, me or other blogs. Seeing other people’s creativity really motivates me and I would be SO HAPPY to see yours— ESPECIALLY IF YOU EVER INTERACT! If you ever reveal yourself of course, but thats up to you. ;]

For tips? I would suggest observing other blogs and see the rules they enforced. With rules, you can know what fits you best and apply the same on your blog. For my first blog @/blackrocks-king, there was alot of trial and error— things I realised that I didn’t like doing and had to edit the introduction of the blog MULTIPLE TIMES with new rules and other warnings. So when I started this second blog, I made sure to see what I was okay with and NOT okay with so I could work at a steady pace so everyone is satisfied including me.

You’re free to try new things but always tell your audience whats new, they’ll always be supportive and considerate. Don’t be afraid to give a heads up for others… and NEVER STOP GAMBLING ! ! ! /j

COMMUNITY EVENT

THE DEATH OF DEOXYS

Deoxys crumbled to the ground-- the strike so loud, so loathing that it shook the very foundations of the little home. Sprawled like a limp puppet, Deoxys had to come to terms that the day had finally arrived like he always dreaded. He couldn’t run anymore. 

Dioxys stood above him, fists tightened so harshly that, had he normal skin, it would have torn from the sheer force. Despite the fact that Deo had answered correctly.. and truthfully.., the answer ended his calm demeanor. The rage he tried to let simmer bubbled out of him as his Psychic Well vibrated the ground around the duo. How dare Deoxys. 

“It’s funny, don’t you think?” Dioxys started as he took several steps toward the prone virus, “If your friends were to stumble upon me.., they would think me a monster. Who would dare hurt the small alien? What wrong had he ever done? Deo only ever helped people, didn’t he?” Dioxys asked mockingly, “If our tale was read from any other perspective, you would be the monster. Not me.”

Above the prone alien, Dioxys raised his foot and brought it down with an impact that shattered the ground below Deoxys-- though his shell managed to hold together against the stomp. Dioxys scoffed. “Yet, you left me behind those empty walls.” The intruder twitched. His emotions came to the forefront. 

With a step back, Dioxys issued a command:

Deoxys laid there in this puddle of nightmares. He deserved this. He didn’t fight back, and he accepted this. Deoxys knew it was the right thing to do.

Dioxys, however, was uncontent. The damage was superficial. He had hoped physically hurting Deo would have made him feel better, but it only caused him to get more upset. “Why, Deo? WHY?” The intruder screamed before landing a kick that sent the orange virus across the room. 

With a crash through the wall, Deoxys crumpled into the next room over. He was so disorientated that he wasn’t even sure which room it was. 

“I..,” Dioxys stepped into the new room, fists rested by his sides, “Why do you continue this? Why do you do this to me, Deo? You won’t let me rest-- you won’t let me exist. You haunt my nightmares, and you get to be happy? Make it make sense, Deo.” Deoxys glanced up, and he saw that the intruder stood above him with a gaze down. Q: "What is the Target Aquired AU?"

A: Basic storyline for now is that that Penny Lamb was the only one to die in the Cyclone Roller Coaster Disaster, with the rest of the choir recovering in the hospital. She remains unidentified.

Before her funeral can be held, the unidentified body vanishes from its grave, the remaining alive members of the Saint Cassian Chamber Choir being found dead just after being released from the hospital.

Now having a robotic head, J-1 (Jane) essentially becomes something similar to The Terminator. Minus the time travel shenanigans. Not much is known about her other than the fact of Uranium City's residents slowly being picked off once they unknowingly are selected as a 'target' assigned to kill.

But maybe... Jane wasn't supposed to end up this way. Maybe she wasn't meant to be brought back as a killing machine. After all, a lot can happen when an incomplete 'machine' ends up in the wrong hands.

Nobody knows who she is, seemingly. Neither does she— her memories are gone. Programming blocking her feelings as to not get attached to 'targets,' and to not defy said programming pick those she's assigned to off.

However, J-1 seems.. a tad reluctant on the hunt for her most recent target. Is it rememberance? Is it pity? Or is it something else? Who knows. Her 'target?'

A painly familiar teenager. Perhaps someone she once knew before her death.

I'll leave the rest undiscovered for now. :) (fun fact, this doubles as a fic as well! .. even if it's from the pov of someone else.)

Killers:

Maura: now I actually don't have much of an idea for her except that like she's this really fancy host who poisons her guests, a really random idea I know but I honestly thought it could be really interesting! As for moves and attacks one of her abilities would be to poison objects like blocky cola's and Elliot pizzas to where they take health or slow you down instead of helping you, you could use this attack as much as five times. There could be a butcher's knife attack where she pulls out a knife and rapidly slashes. And you know those teapots that have two compartments one for tea one for poison, this will be a gamble move or use it on a player and the next object they get would either help them or kill them instantly, well not quite instantly but it would take their health down to 5%- you could obviously only use this attack twice, the animation is she would teleport the object to her hand and pour the tea in and you can actually tell whether or not it's good or bad by what color the liquid is, both the good and bad colors are dependent on the skin but for the OG skin the bad color would be green and the good color would be blue! She would also have a move where she would be able to send out the tiny little Junior who would tie up a survivor in a chair and set them in front of like this fancy table where Maura can go then and attack them, you're stuck in this table for about 30 seconds unless another player comes and gets you out, you're so instantly sent out if the killer attacks you five times, 5 slashes from the butcher's knife would count.

Maurice: no for his idea he's literally just a yandere, full on decay and abundance! He would have whatever knife he used to kill AskBlog! PizzaHead (I don't remember the name) as his main weapon! His first attack would be to throw the knife multiple times, he can also do this little jump attack where he lands on top of the survivor stunning them for a moment, if it's a kill he would stab them repeatedly, on rare instances he would pull out their heart from their back or front and simply crush and both of their hands palms!! A secondary attack would be to grab a player and to start randomly slow dancing with them, this is not only prevents the player from moving but the player also gets slowly gets damaged as Maurice slowly jabs a knife into their back, if it's kill then he does a little dance/spin with them before using the knife to cut either their throat or if a rare chance their entire head off! Maurice can choose to let go of a player early in this where Maurice will then make a disgusted face, he is a very extra animation for Mancer and Doise survivors! Where instead of just kind of dancing with them Maurice would also kiss them at the end if it's a kill before slicing their throat or cutting off their head! He can stab himself in the chest to turn into a ghost to possess a random player, he can use this to sabotage various generators around the map and to take items! He can also kill the player in this mode if they have a low enough health, aka he forces a player to kill themselves, whenever he sabotages a generator and increases the time on the timer! I also had a love potion idea for him but I'm not too sure Maurice would actually do that- he would have his own special Chase theme for if the last survivor is Mancer, Peppino, or Doise! Each one would have their own theme apart from Maurice's actual theme!

No I have a killer idea for Maura and Sliz's kids but based off the fact that neither of them have names it's kind of hard so I'm going to skip them for now until they have names!

Survivors:

Doise: now for his idea he's just a survivor, he has like an actual little outfit on where instead of the cape being a cape it would be this long flowy scarf, I'm not sure how to explain the rest of his outfit but he would have like a natural little outfit on! He would also have a bit of messy hair sticking out from under his hat! Now for his first ability it's this clone ability very similar too 007n7's ability but on a larger scale! A bunch of strands would melt out of the ground making a whole bunch of Doise's (specifically five not including the player) just fought up randomly around with a map, meaning you can go practically everywhere and you'll find another Doise and another! As the time went on for how long the strands would stay the strains would slowly begin to melt helping the killer reveal who's the actual player! The player can of course choose to actually control with the NPCs do instead of them just randomly running around. The Strands but staying specific trunks of the map which can be another good indicator of the refusing to pass a specific line (the line is not visible but you can pretty easily tell where that line is). No you may ask why not it's being Noise as the character? Well I really wanted to give strand abilities to one of the survivors so I went ahead and had it be Doise, but one of the skins is noise and it has a whole other animation and sound pack! There second ability is to be able to send Sqiddy out to do a random generator or to bring you back pizzas or bloxy Cola's! Sqiddy can actually steal the stuff from another player, but only if the player actually gives permission! It will pop up as a little while pop up and if the player hits except then the squiddy would take an object if not then the squiddy would run off and take something off the ground, squiddy would fix the nearest generator and take the nearest object! His third ability would be able to teleport across the map with the help of Peddito, no they wouldn't necessarily be teleported they would be picked up out of range of the killers and players and would be dropped off to random specific points on the map, the various points that the player can go and is not like I said random, you can actually see the player flying through the sky during this! The skins would be various Noisy OCS actually! And the Peddito's would be very dead versions of Pepino esc OC's! Like for example the skin could be Cattra and the peddito be a dead vrs of Sophia!

Mancer (PizzaMancer): not for him he's a more rugged object head version of Mancer, he's a bit cut up and his clothes are tattered and he is a slightly bushy beard, it would really have looked like that Mancer either they didn't have all the proper tools to take care of himself or simply refused to (aka he let go). For his first ability he would summon Anna who would then turn to a bird, Anna would pick up whatever object the player chose for Anna to take and would take it I said object depending on his healing or stand him giving to the player with the least health or stamina! For his second he would summon chains he would grab onto the killer, the killer at first was struggle (with their own respective animations) but then we're telling me freeze up as they got Frozen! This is a reference to congratulator!!! The chains and freezing effect would be different for each skin! This was stun the killer for about 10 seconds, but the killer can get out early through a spamming mini game where they would slowly unfreeze himself as it cracks the eyes and would eventually break the chains, that would take the time down to about three to five seconds, the killer has to do it fast before they fully freeze up! His third ability would be able to summon a random potion that would either give him health or a speed boost or actually would take health or stamina off, there are some other effects like poisoning or very specific potion effects that I can't quite think of right now (it's 11:12 p.m. at the time of typing the specific section).

Peppino: now Pepino would be very anxious but would actually be a little less than during the actual Pizza Tower gameplay, who'd already gone pretty use of this world at this point due to being in it for so long, he would actually look pretty decent although he wouldn't have his average computer closed on he would have his hoodie and multiple shirts on! Although they would be pretty dirty with condiments and stains and would be a bit torn up, some of the shirts would also be used as bandages around his legs! His character is supposed to be perfect mix between a healer and a stunner!!! For his first ability he can give a player a piping hot plate of spaghetti, this would be a hyper healing object that a player you can actually carry around with them, although it gives you less health as less time goes on as the spaghetti slowly cools down! Maura can poison these. Now his character would already be a bit faster than the average player but his next ability would give him a really rapid speed boost as he would go into mach speed for a couple seconds, specifically about 3 seconds! He can't stand a killer if he runs into them during mach speed, although it's about the shortest stun you can get, you can also hit the multiple times if you're that fast with it! Now who's third ability is my favorite, is where he would take the chili pepper from the refrigerator level and he would eat it causing him to go into this massive flaming rage, he would turn red hot and they would be flames coming off of his mouth and steam out of his ears, now during this is where he goes into the real stun stuff, he will be able to just punch the absolute shit out of the killer stunning them quite a lot in taking out a lot of health! (Because yes The Killers actually can't be hurt and killed! It takes a lot but it can definitely happen!), now this form obviously wouldn't really happen for all that long and you would only be able to use it for three times, why three you may ask is because he gives you massive debuffs after it dies down, one of the pizza Angels would come down and get Filipino cartridge milk or Peppino would then chug it, he will be slowed into the player almost dead speed and wouldn't be able to use his other abilities, he can still Sprint a hint and Ellie's Pizza will instantly fix these effects, for the animation he would be like blushing as he still dealing with his spiciness and like huffing a bit just panting heavily. Now fun fact during these punch and star animation there's a really rare chance that Peppino will grab the killer and break their back just like how evil Pepino broken gustavo's back! There's also a skin where he becomes evil Pepino that has a couple of his own animations and the break back animation is much more common if you have this skin on!

Anywho that's are my ideas so far! I already have more cooking :D

(Hi TheAussieBlue! I still haven't really caught up to your fic, I only really read the first handful of chapters so far. But I suddenly got the idea it could be fun to have My AU's Tails interact with another Tails that lost Sonic. Just felt like letting you know, anyways.)

Suddenly, a portal burst open in the middle of Tails’ workshop. The air trembled as another fox fell out of the portal, just before it closed, slamming into the floor with a surprisingly heavy thud that shook the tools off nearby shelves.

A low growl rose from the intruder's chest as he drove his claws into the floor and pushed himself upright, arcs of electricity sparking from his robotic arm as he moved.

SiMTails leapt up as he heard the heavy thud. And felt it too, the tremors shaking through the floor. He scrambled for a weapon, and settled on a heavy plumbing wrench. Slowly stepping over to his lab, he readied the wrench like a club, and opened the door with a shout.

And stopped. Inside, back turned, was a tall Tails, - a giant one, almost as tall as Omega. And another thing - he was covered in scars, with a metal arm where his right arm should be.

"Hello? SiMTails tried, lowering his wrench.

The giant Tails whipped his head around, moving faster than he should be able to. This strange giant tails didn't look any better from the front, scars across his chest and a prominent one on his face, running down across his eye.

"Huh," MBTails said, looking at SiMTails like he was a curiosity, "You're young. Very young. I've traveled through time?"

SiMTails couldn't help but feel nervous at the giant in his lab. The look in his eye was cold and clinical, without warmth or kindness.

"If... If you're from the future..." SimTails said, "You shouldn't tell me anything that could cause a paradox."

MBTails stepped forwards, reaching out with his metal arm to take hold of SiMTails in an iron grip. Turning the struggling SiMTail's head left, then right, MBTails made a thoughtful him as he looked at his copy with a clinical eye.

"You're young. And rough around the edges," he said, "But you certainly aren't a young version of myself. An alternate version?"

SiM Tails finally pulled himself out of MBTail's grip, "I don't know what you're doing here!" he barked, "But I'm not afraid to fight you!"

"Oh please," MBTails said, voice dripping with bitterness, "I'm willing to bet that you didn't lose your Sonic. Well I'm sorry to say this, but without him around I had to get stronger. Relax, little one. You are in no danger, because you are no threat to me." The last line was said without boast, or threat. It was a statement of fact, like saying the sky was blue, or grass was green.

"I lost my Sonic too." SiMTails said, "So... maybe you are my future. I may not know much... but I know that if Sonic was still here-"

MBTails whipped around, "Don't you dare say his name!" he hissed, furious. "But fine," he said, calm again, "Tell me, how did your Sonic die? How did you fail him?"

SiMTails frowned, determined to hold his ground against this violent version of himself. "I didn't fail him," he insisted, "He just... vanished one day. We looked everywhere, and no one could find him. Not even i could, when I used a machine and GUN satellites to scan the globe for his Chaos signature. He just..." SiMTails hesitated, "He just vanished. Gone without a trace. I don't even have a body to bury."

MBTails' gaze softened, if only a little, "Listen then," he said almost gentle, "If I can give you any advice, you need to be ready. Sonic was a strong warrior who held back a lot of evil. You need to be ready to fight whatever comes crawling out of the woodwork now that your Sonic is gone. Get strong. Get vicious. Gather the Chaos Emeralds, and prepare for war."

"I have my friends." Tails said, confident, "Sonic and I met a lot of people. Blaze. Shadow. Silver. Surge. Amy. Knuckles. Rouge. I have a lot of people I can rely on."

"Are they strong?" MBTails asked, 'Strong enough for what's coming?"

SiMTails smirked, "Four of them are just as strong as Sonic was," he said, "Silver and Surge might be stronger."

MBTails leaned in closer. So close that their noses were almost touching.

"That's not good enough."

And just like that, the tall Tails was gone, leaving SiMTails trembling at the last words of the inter dimensional visitor.

You have an Artificer AU where they DON'T get redeemed? Tell me more, I'm all ears.

Well, I don't want to say too much because I want to tell these stories eventually once I start my AU askblog, but this specific part of Artificer's story is going to be covered pretty early on in the overarching plot.

The AU's basic premise is this: Blizzards have overtaken the land and all of the slugcats live in shelter in Undergrowth, run by Saint who maintains a garden. No single slugcat is the central focus except perhaps Saint, but the first storyline is going to revolve around Artificer.

An unconscious Artificer is actually the last slugcat that Saint brings into the shelter for unknown reason, and while everyone is more or less willing to allow it because they respect Saint's decision, it is a unanimously unpopular decisions. Arti's reputation is known and the shelter relies on scavengers caravans for materials that the shelter can't produce on its own, and no one wants to risk the potential fallout of harboring a mass murderer and enemy of the scavengers. The cirumstances of Artificer's backstory are different in my AU and are tied much more heavily to scavenger society, but these facts remain.

Once Artificer's awake, the other slugcats try to make peace in different ways for the sake of coexisting, from tenuously telling her "It's okay" to trying to assuage her guilt to avoiding the subject of her past entirely. Aside from Saint, who remains mysterious and aloof, Hunter is the only slugcat willing to tell her to her face "I know what you've done and I don't trust you. The only reason I haven't thrown you to the blizzard is because I respect Saint." Artificer ironically ends up gravitating towards her because of this, despite how much the two argue and legitimately hate each other at the start.

Eventually everyone learns to get along; I'm not interested in punishing Artificer narratively, but one of my primary goals with my story is to shift the usual framing around Artificer "redemption". One of the big points I want to emphasize is that there is nothing Arti can do can ever 'undo' all the pain and death she's caused. No one but her victims can give her forgiveness. At the same time, punitive justice doesn't actually accomplish anything meaningful in this scenario; it doesn't do anything to prevent further harm if Artificer has already stopped, and it doesn't materially benefit her victims. It just satisfies a sense of justice that isn't rooted in the material world.

Saint's decision to allow her into the shelter protects her from being thrown back out to die in the blizzard by the other slugcats. Isolated in the shelter and marked as an enemy of the scavengers, there's no way for her to meaningfully reconnect with scavenger society (for better or for worse). Despite their very contentious relationship, Hunter is the one to tell her that there's no point in dying or wallowing, but there's no "redemption" either. So what else is there to do but keep on living and try to do better?

Anyway yeah, that's Artificer's place in my AU. Yeah she gets to live with all the other slugcats and go on fun adventure, but my goal is expressly to move the narrative away from both punitive justice as an inherent moral option and the idea that someone needs or even necessarily can achieve "redemption", if redemption even exists beyond an arbitrary binary designation. I prefer something much more neutral and pragmatic: You're alive, so keep on living. At least while you're alive you have to opportunity to do good.
