Things I liked this week :
Feb. 16 - 22, 2025
(Ok so I decided to do this thing where I catalog all my favorite things from the week. I like to think it's an exercise in positivity but its probably just the autism again. Anyways I figured I should probably post it to spread the love, so here's that ig. This isn't a ranking btw it's just in order of when I decided to add it.)
1. You're Wrong About Pluto - Hank Green
Youtube Video
Cool video about Pluto and the other dwarf planets and moons of our solar system and how important they are to our current understanding of the universe.
2. "Under Pressure" Arcane/Spiderverse Edit - caitxvix
Tiktok Edit
Edit using Under Pressure by Queen to show the constant theme of the power of love in both Arcane and Spiderverse.
3. "The Distance" Arcane Edit - biggmama07
Tiktok Edit
Edit using The Distance by CAKE to show sequences from the final episode of Arcane, especially focusing on Ekko and Viktor in their actions in the final battle
4. Alien Stage - Vivinos
Animated Webseries
An multipart animated webseries about a future where aliens have conquered earth. The series focuses on a group of people who were raised from children to be singers to entertain the alien overlords in a sort of gladiatorial music competition where the loser dies. It's essentially a jukebox musical, with each episode having little to no dialogue and having a single pre-existing song usually sung by the characters.
5. "Fake Woke Baby" Tiktok - 6asscat
Tiktok
What can I say. A proposed fake woke baby.
6. "This Is My Food" Tiktok - myfoodisme2
Tiktok
Guy on tiktok who eats like a zoo animal. Straight up says he doesn't care about being healthy or about taste. He just chops up ingredients and stir fries them, no seasoning no nothing. Its all he eats. He eats 6 times a day. Fascinating.
7. Were These The First Animals - History Of The Earth
Documentary
Documentary about the Ediacaran Biota and the journey of their discovery and acceptance in the scientific community as the true first animals.
8. "I should've thanked them" Luz Fan Art - @floral-figmentz
The Owl House Fan Art
Art of Luz Noceda from The Owl House from the show's finale when she's "killed" by Belos and disintegrates into a collection of light.
9. "hyperfixate" Viktor Fan Art - samhaiiin
Arcane Fan Art
Art of Viktor from Arcane in the scene where he is captivated by the Hexcore as it whispers to him arranged in comic form.
10. "Brother-Owned Restaurant" Bit - Chris Flemming
Stand Up Comedy
Chris Flemming stand up bit about easy it is to tell when a restaurant is owned by two brothers.
11. Bonus "The Martian" Chapter - Andy Weir
Book Chapter
Random bonus chapter to a book that came out a decade ago? Andy Weir the man that you are...
12. My Brother Winning an Award for Emotional Intelligence - My Brother
Non-Media
I'm just really proud of my little brother.
13. "Morning Routine" Arcane Fan Art - wrwtnb
Arcane Fan Art
Art of Silco, Vander, Powder, Mylo, Claggor, and Vi all getting ready together like a cute little family. This could have been Arcane if the writers and animators were hugged as children.
14. Green Yuri - Sumiko Arai
Manga
Technically the title of this is "The Guy She Was Interested In Wasn't A Guy At All" but I didn't want to write all that. A manga about two high school aged girls who both have the same unconventional music taste and their cute little love story. It's called "Green Yuri" by fans because it's primarily illustrated in black and white with bright neon green as an accent color. I read this on tumblr years ago and decided to reread it since its getting an anime adaptation! Very cute.
15. "Thirty Silver Coins, and a Kiss" Jayvik Fan Comic - baguet95264460
Arcane Fan Comic
A 7 part fan comic about Jayce and Viktor from Arcane and the story of their relationship in regards to the structural inequalities of Viktor's home, Zaun. This is like visual poetry to be honest.
16. "Phineas is a pawn star" Tiktok - churr.bum.lion.yt
Tiktok
Phineas getting scammed on Pawn Stars. A modern tragedy.
17. THE REAL REASON YOU SHOULD COPY OTHER ARTISTS - Joshua Adeoye
YouTube Video
A really well produced art advice YouTube video detailing why studies are done on other artists' work and how to do them properly.
18. Hunter x Hunter Reactions - Letts React
YouTube Series
New reaction series from my favorite reaction youtubers! And it's great cause it's for Hunter x Hunter. I forgot how happy that show makes me. It's a good reminder.

Song stuck in your head: scylla from the epic musical but only the end part its so good omfg ive had it on repeat so its just constantly playing in my head lol
Weirdest habit/trait? its not necessarily weird? i just really like biting lmao i bite my gf (not hard) all the time and we laugh our asses off sometimes bc i do it without even thinking now
Hobbies: i love photography, reading, listening to music, playing music (learning guitar its hard lol), playing games (as i mentioned earlier), crochet, swimming (favourite form of exercise by far) theres definitely more but i cant remember lol
If you work, what's your profession? im not working rn but my last job I was a dental nurse and it was cool for a while, had a pretty big interest on teeth for a while lmao
If you could have any job you wish, what would it be? ive wanted to be a professional body piercer for like i wanna say 3 years now and i didnt think could pursue it but roni (my beloved<3) has been encouraging me to do what makes me happy so ive been getting in contact with different studios so who know whats can happen, or a florist ive really loved that idea recently
Something you're good at: ive been told by friends that the pictures i take are good and my gf says im really good with kids and could be a teacher or smthn, i think personally im good at like welcoming people? im very shy and quiet but if i see someone looking uncomfortable ill just adopt them bc i know how much it sucks to feel like that
Something you're bad at: socialising, like i said im really shy and i can be quite awkward? but im trying to get better, im also kinda bad at being nice to myself? but again im working on it
Something you love: snowflake (my teddy bear), princess (my cat), snowy mornings, music, baking, dancing, swimming, reading im just listing hobbies now lmaooo i love so much stuff
Something you could talk about for hours off the cuff: oooo any of the books ive read, i could ramble about them for ages i fucking love talking about books ive read its the best (thats literally all that comes to mind but theres so much shit i could talk about for ages but im blanking again)
Something you hate: honestly? not much like actively like yeah politicians are bastards and the governments shit, of course, but apart from obvious things theres not much i guess, only thing i can think of is like playing dumb like people who act stupid for no reason it irks me so badly
Something you collect: keyrings, vinyl records (got tons after my grandad passed) and plushies
Something you forget: literally everything my memory is so bad as you can tell from how many times i said im blanking or cant remember lmao its not good
What's your love language? technically physical touch bc im a very affectionate person but i have friends who arent super comfy with physical touch so its not the be all and end all like i can love people through words and actions too but i just like to hug and kiss etc
Favourite movie/show: thats really fucking hard omg uhm okay so brother bear and bolt and strawberry shortcake(before they ruined it) have very special places in my heart from my childhood, from now hmm i love criminal minds, law and order svu, house md, call the midwife and tons more but those are the most recent ones i love
Favourite food: i might be biased but my gfs cooking bc she cooks me bolivian and spanish dishes all the time, some of my favourites are chorrellana, planchita, estofado de carne and arroz a la valenciana OH and also rosquitas theyre sooo tasty
Favourite animal: cows! i love them but i also love cats, dogs, snakes, rats, ravens and wolves (i have a raven and wolf tattoo) theres tons of favourites im not good at decisions lol
What were you like as a child? uhh lonely? very shy and quiet i was that kid who was always told to raise their hand more in class
Favourite subject at school? history, I fucking loved that and my teacher he was the best guy ever i loved him so goddamn much
Least favourite subject: maths omg i was so shit it was unbelievable i still hate it now idek how i managed to pass
What's your best character trait? hmm im not sure i always try to be kind and caring to everyone i meet, i think maybe my best trait could possibly be my patience? i dont lose my patience with many people i try to be understanding
What's your worst character trait? my poor self-esteem, its affected my relationships with people in the past and im working to improve it
If you could change any detail of your life right now, what would it be? i mean getting a job i like and moving in with my gf would be nice! i mean those are gonna happen regardless but i wouldnt mind a quick speed-up lol
If you could travel in time, who would you like to meet? freddie mercury & david bowie but specifically in the 80s during the AIDS crisis bc i read about that shit all the time about how people buried their friends almost everyday it fucking breaks my heart but to hear about it from someone who lived it? unreal and bc they were so open and public too it would be interesting to see their perspectives, or steve irwin bc that man had such a light in his heart and joy for life and i think i could learn a lot from a conversation with him

🍓🧃🌿 :3
🍓 ⇢ how did you get into writing fanfiction?  oohhh unofficially when I was really young I was SUPER into Discworld (obviously) and also Redwall, which I had been into on a special interest level for many many years. my first technical fanfiction was hand-written in a reporter's notebook, and it was a Redwall-Discworld crossover with Teatime from Hogfather in Redwall, teaming up with the foxes from Marlfox lmao. I was super into the Redwall villains in general and super into Teatime, so yeah. I can't tell you a thing about it, but that was it!
🧃 ⇢ share some personal lore you never posted about before personal lore!! let me thinkkkk 🤔 I used to be a moderator on the RPG (rping basically) board of one of the big Pokemon forums back in the day - Pokemasters! I modded that place for years, and I spent so much of my teen and older life on there, met some really good friends, some of whom I've met irl a bunch of times - including one time at MCM Expo in London where we all laid in a pile on the hotel bed and recited the entire pokedex one after the other.... nerrrdssss eheh.
We had SO much drama on that forum tho, holy shit. One time, one of the mods got hacked and the hacker went through and deleted whole long threads one by one across any boards she had mod privileges in, so I had to spend HOURS in first year of uni helping to restore them all, it was hell.
🌿 ⇢ give some advice on writer's block and low creativity My usual method for writer's block is honestly brainstorming or shooting the shit with friends! I take inspiration from a lot of things like music, random art pieces, random ass thoughts and those all help as well. Also about 70% of the time if I'm blocked on a scene, it often means it's come to a natural end and when I use my "skip the damn scene already!!!" method, it fixes it all!
I feel like for low creativity, it's good to;
a) let yourself have space from creating to let yourself get the energy back (think of that metaphor of farmers letting fields go to fallow between seasons)
b) experience creative things in other ways, such as reading books, watching films, playing video games etc. - just soaking up other art forms can be really helpful for your creative brain! If you can manage it, try to think about what it is that draws you to that thing, about how you could recreate that in your own works. If you're a writer, use it as a free-writing exercise with no pressure whatsoever, just noodling around
c) maybe try pick up a creative hobby in a different discipline than you're used to working in - it helps to stretch your brain and work different creative muscles if you feel like you want to! Being into multiple creative hobbies is one of my own most helpful things, because I always want to create things, and it gives me variety
d) but the most important: try to forgive yourself! Don't pressure yourself or feel guilty for it, everyone goes through the same thing at multiple points in their life. You've gotta be nice to yourself, don't rush things - they say creativity is like a muscle, you gotta let it rest if it's strained or injured, you know? You wouldn't be mean to someone with an injury, so think of it in a similar way.

hiiiiii could i see multiples of 3 for mulligan? that guy is Intriguing 2 me :)
ok there are a Lot of questions here so i'm gonna do my best to keep them short & sweet!
3. Did they have a good childhood? What are fond memories they have of it? What’s a bad memory?
his childhood kinda sucked! grew up quite poor on a shitty planet, his mom always wanted more kids but never got them, his dad was kind of a hardass and worked in a mine like 17 hours a day. he started drinking in his early teens to cope with... all that, so he doesn't have a ton of memories either way lmao.
6. What were they like at school? Did they enjoy it? Did they finish? What level of higher education did they reach? What subjects did they enjoy? Which did they hate?
he did surprisingly well in school, especially in the more technical classes/math/history. not well enough to get actual scholarships or anything, so he ended up enlisting in the marines to get a higher education, which is where he learned that the marines Fucking Suck!
9. Do animals like them? Do they get on well with animals?
im gonna be real with you homeboy has seen like 2 animals in his life and one of them is a dog that is his mortal enemy (Mr Cuddles) and one is a mostly-cat that he rarely sees so. i'd say he's Pretty Bad With Animals
12. What is their favorite food?
will never admit it but it's children's breakfast cereals. the ones that are like 90% sugar
15. Are they good at cooking? Do they enjoy it? What do others think of their cooking?
he's good at a very specific type of cooking, which is to say, making meals out of the kind of ingredients you have for a long-term deep space voyage. he loves it, but wouldn't know what to do with an Actual Kitchen and exotic things like Fresh Vegetables. the others aren't particularly impressed by it, but they indulge him - it's an important ritual for him and it makes him feel useful :3
18. What’s their favorite genre of: books, music, tv shows, films, video games and anything else
hmmm... mulligan doesn't experience a lot of Media, when he does it's usually just catching up on sports to have something to talk about with the other Guys™ at the loading docks. iirc he has canonically played team fortress 2 tho
21. Do they have a temper? Are they patient? What are they like when they do lose their temper?
he very much has a temper, i would never describe him as "patient" but his anger can be overridden by fear, especially in confrontations with his superiors. he mostly just yells at people and gets it out of his system, if it's something big he'll carry a grudge and continue to make snippy comments until someone calls him on it
24. What is their sleeping pattern like? Do they snore? What do they like to sleep on? A soft or hard mattress?
his sleeping pattern is "not unless absolutely necessary," excluding cryosleep he gets about half the sleep a regular human needs :/ preferred sleeping situation is a hammock, but he's most familiar with thin awful mattresses
27. What makes them sad? Do they cry regularly? Do they cry openly or hide it? What are they like they are sad?
mulligan is way more likely to be angry/resigned/scared than Sad, and i don't think he's cried in a long time. in that situation he would probably flee and hole up like a wounded animal waiting to die until he could successfully bottle the emotion back up
30. Do they exercise? Regularly? Or only when forced? What do they act like pre-work out and post-work out?
he pretty much has to be forced to keep up with his mandatory exercises, luckily the ship's doctor is (was :( ) very good at her job and kept him on track despite his bitching. he does get notably happier post-workout, but if you point this out to him he'll say it's bc it's over lmao
question 33 intentionally omitted <3
36. What are they good at? What hobbies do they like? Can they sing?
he's good at drawing, especially still lifes, but he doesn't do it much or think of it as a hobby. he also plays harmonica, which he is bad at, and does consider a hobby. he can sing, but the only songs he really knows are ones he learned from his mother, so he doesn't
39. Do they like letters? Or prefer emails/messaging?
call the man. he wants to hear your voice. hand-written letters are basically non-existent in the setting, but he rarely checks his email/texts. just call him. leave a voicemail if you must.
42. What are their goals? What would they sacrifice anything for? What is their secret ambition?
number one goal is to Survive Another Day, subgoal Don't Kill Anyone. he's not a very ambitious person, like, at all. he would however sacrifice anything to keep his crew safe. he feels a Lot of responsibility towards them, even though he knows most of them are more competent than he is lmao. his secret ambition is to overthrow capitalism and start a commune, however, he also thinks this is stupid.
45. How do other people see them? Is it similar to how they see themselves?
in my mind, other people see mulligan as kind of an uncomfortably intelligent dog. just smart enough to get into trouble but will pretty much do what you ask him to do. deficiency of critical thinking and ambition. multiple npcs offered to help him fake his death and quit his job and he did not understand Why they all wanted him to do that.
48. Do they enjoy any parties? If so what kind? Do they organize the party or just turn up? How do they act? What if they didn’t want to go but were dragged along by a friend?
in the academy he enjoyed parties for the booze, mostly showing up to one he wasn't invited to, but after he stopped drinking he pretty much stopped going to parties, and after graduating he really stopped being in groups of more than, like, 10 people who all live together anyway. he does occasionally organize the mandatory crew bonding nights, where he gets everyone together to play dumb party games like never-have-i-ever and watch their vhs cops of home alone 2: lost in new york

Do I answer all of these?...?
1. I technically have a few default drawing programs on my computer (ms paint) I don't use, but I use pretty much any other program my outdated computer can run lol
2. Left, tbh; I draw a lot in the right hand margins of my schoolwork so I have a lot of experience drawing people facing left.
3. I had a lot of ideas and hyperfixations surrounding birds when I was little, and a lot of that shows through in my art
4. Long hair. Hate it, but love a few characters with it
5. I have two seperate socials for my 'proper' art and my fanart and still like 90% of my art is thrown on the shelf or in my sketch portfolio
6. The colours of things I've seen or the paint strokes of music I'm listening to (it's hard to explain that one)
7. Woodworking. Massive respect
8. I had this idea where a cat in a small french village influences the local politics via butterfly effect shenanigans. That's still on hold- though I find myself thinking about it
9. No conventions! Just word salad, abbreviations, inconsistent camelcase vs underscoring
10. SCARVES SCARVES SCARVES
11. Vocaloid babeeeeee. Also reaction videos and speed runs of Zelda (usually music and videos at the same time
12. Eyes and mouth- fun and satisfying to place. Wings are my absolute favourite tho-
13. Maybe some past figure like Andy Warhol or Leonardo DaVinci? I like most of the people I admire-
14. Various types of birds for emotions or concepts. Ex. Crows represent the psyche to me
15. Basement
16. According to a lot of people irl, political commentary comics. I don't like doing them though, they were mostly vent artworks
17. Water. So much water.
18. A lot. Not that much but too much.
19. Feathers!
20. Wings!
21. Hyperrealism. I tend to be more expressionistic, but I admire hyperrealists.
22. Drawing a bad drawing or playing piano exercises
23. Normal most of the time. Gel if I'm colouring scanned linearts. Multiply or shadow map for shading sometimes.
24. I have been down the depths of the stock image rabbit hole.
25. Various anime I've never seen, random indie gallery artists I can't remember.
26. I've made a lot of bird vent artworks that have deep motifwork to me but are interpreted as just pretty and realistic oil/watercolour paintings
27. I like to just doodle a bit first, really whatever fandom I'm into lmao (most of what's on my blog is said warmup doodles)
28. Just my school's art market
29. Undertale/Deltarune. Cool, but just not inspiring really.
30. I have an irl painting called 'Nostalgia' that I really love, but everyone just things is a bit creepy:')
Weirdly Specific Artist Ask Game
Didn't see a lot of artist ask games, wanted to make a silly one.
(I wrote this while sick out of my mind last year and it's been collecting dust in my drafts, I might as well let it run free) 1. Art programs you have but don't use
2. Is it easier to draw someone facing left or right (or forward even)
3. What ideas come from when you were little
4. Fav character/subject that's a bitch to draw
5. Estimate of how much of your art you post online vs. the art you keep for yourself
6. Anything that might inspire you subconsciously (i.e. this horse wasn't supposed to look like the Last Unicorn but I see it)
7. A medium of art you don't work in but appreciate
8. What's an old project idea that you've lost interest in
9. What are your file name conventions
10. Favorite piece of clothing to draw
11. Do you listen to anything while drawing? If so, what
12. Easiest part of body to draw
13. A creator who you admire but whose work isn't your thing
14. Any favorite motifs
15. *Where* do you draw (don't drop your ip address this just means do you doodle at a park or smth)
16. Something you are good at but don't really have fun doing
17. Do you eat/drink when drawing? if so, what
18. An estimate of how much art supplies you've broken
19. Favorite inanimate objects to draw (food, nature, etc.)
20. Something everyone else finds hard to draw but you enjoy
21. Art styles nothing like your own but you like anyways
22. What physical exercises do you do before drawing, if any
23. Do you use different layer modes
24. Do your references include stock images
25. Something your art has been compared to that you were NOT inspired by
26. What's a piece that got a wildly different interpretation from what you intended
27. Do you warm up before getting to the good stuff? If so, what is it you draw to warm up with
28. Any art events you have participated in the past (like zines)
29. Media you love, but doesn't inspire you artistically
30. What piece of yours do you think is underrated

Instead of adding scales right now, I think I'm going to do this one finger independence exercise thing I found online. I really want to up my left hand finger dexterity. I think that'll be useful for scales (whenever I start doing them). I think when I gain more confidence and start working more on songs and less from workbooks (to be clear, I fully intend to use workbooks this whole summer; working through skills in a structured way is a big part of how I aim to steadily improve (I abandoned this for uke and regret it)), I'll begin my practice sessions with scales and arpeggios and the like.
Years ago I wrote about how learning a new instrument was akin to learning a new language for me. And I do still stand by that. When I was playing flute in high school, I was generally able to instantly translate written notation to fingerings or conductor direction to embouchure. I was playing simple pop songs by ear as early as elementary and middle school. The instrument and I just kind of clicked eventually, like it was an extension of me. I didn't need to actively translate "treble clef A on staff -> first two fingers and thumb -> don't overblow" because it was instantaneous. Playing by ear and having an intuition for intervals without the formal music theory training was a talent I did not appreciate at the time but now recognize as a next step in musical fluency. One can learn an instrument from lessons and books the same way one can learn Spanish in a class. But fluency comes with real time practice in never-before-seen contexts and challenges that must be creatively overcome. That skill is exercised when playing by ear or when playing with other (better) musicians. It is a conversation within which one is truly tested and through which one improves. It's the same concept as with language immersion programs.
I think I'd once written that my goal was to join a jam session by the end of the summer. I'd say that's a soft goal. I don't know what my skill will be like at the end of the summer or if I would have an amp available that was appropriate for jamming or if I'll even find a jam session I'd like (though I'm not against any genre, really; I think cross-genre experience would be very valuable). But I think if I was to set one goal for the end of these three-ish months, it'd be to drastically shorten my internal "translation time". That implicates a whole slew of skills, of course (reading bass clef, knowing the notes of the fretboard, high finger dexterity).
I need to wedge myself into the local music scene somehow. Maybe find a local band I enjoy and go to a few of their shows. Or hang around at a bar that hosts a lot of local acts. Or something. I think I've found one that's close to me, maybe I'll check it out this weekend...
I finished Crisis on Infinite Earths pt 3 finally. And like, okay, yeah, the ending was fine and made sense. But it was so so awful getting there. Nearly painful. For a three-part event released over the course of multiple years, I just expected so much more. The animation was awful, the script was boring, the jokes fell flat, the attempts at emotion fell flat, and while the plotting ended up making sense, I honestly did not trust the process (the only real surprise was the bit about Constantine's involvement). Plus they put that grown man in a Robin suit T.T While I had technically "done the homework" and was familiar with most if not all of the reference material (basically the WB straight-to-video animated movies), it'd been so long since I'd seen any of them (and I feel like I have to keep so many multiverses straight at this point) that I barely remembered anything from them. In all, I wouldn't really recommend them. Unless someone was doing a binge of all the WB animated stuff. It'd be easier to get through and make more sense with all of them being out at once. I'm willing to tolerate more than I should when it comes to superhero content for whatever reason, but this didn't even manage to be mediocre in my book.
Today I'm thankful that I randomly was able to see my makerspace-friend today (idk if she'd technically gotten a name before now..). I didn't even know she'd moved away, as we hadn't really chatted since like, January because I was in the midst of quals prep and she in the throes of med school apps the past few months and then she got an acceptance and only very recently whisked herself away! She's so cool. Texted me this afternoon right before I was about to run an experiment because she was in town visiting another friend, and I'm glad we got to link once more! I really want to keep in touch with her.
Also thankful that my """experiments""" are tentatively looking good. Last summer when I was doing basically the same thing for two months straight, I had super inconsistent results, but everything is looking solid the past three times I've run the procedure (I remade some of the solutions for this summer and suspect that I'd labeled something incorrectly last summer which is annoying). Plus my postdoc has been out sick the past few days which has really forced me into trusting myself, something that's kind of been difficult to do because I've also screwed up so so so much lol. Anyway I will see tomorrow whether they are actually turning out well.
It's been very quiet in the department this week. Quiet in the lab, too. No undergrads. Advisor mostly working from home. My postdoc out sick. My island-friend away on staycation. The other grad student graduated. The other postdoc.. somewhere but def not in the lab. It's been nice. Serene. Peaceful. I am getting things done (because I must: I have a (lowkey low-key) poster due next Thursday and am (re)generating much of the data for it this week (I technically had done it previously but it looked dreadful and would've needed re-doing for publication anyway)). I feel productive. I am moving quickly right now because I must (for more reasons than just the deadline), but I will slow down after next week to adopt a comfortable pace so that I don't burn myself out.
But for now, I feel good. External stressors aside, I passed my quals, my experiments look good, my period is back to normal, I'm learning a new instrument, I'm crafting, I'm hanging out.

Get Started Coding for non-programmers

How to Get Started with Coding: A Guide for Non-Techies
If you ever considered learning how to Get Started Coding for non-programmers but were intimidated by technical terms or daunted by the prospect, you're in good company. The good news is that coding isn't for "techies" alone. Anyone can learn to code, no matter their background or experience. In this guide, we'll take you through the fundamentals of how to get started coding, whether you're looking to create a website, work with data, or simply learn how the technology that surrounds you operates. Why Learn to Code? Before diving into the "how," it's worth knowing the "why." Coding can unlock new doors, both personally and professionally. Some of the reasons why learning to code is worth it include: Problem-solving abilities: Programming allows you to dissect difficult problems and identify solutions. Career adaptability: More and more careers, from marketing to medicine, are turning to coding as a requirement. Empowerment: Code knowledge enables you to have a better understanding of the technology you're using daily and enables you to own your own project development. Creativity: Coding isn't purely logical—it's also about making new things and creating your own ideas. Step 1: Choose Your Learning Path Before you start, consider what you are most interested in. The route you take will depend on what you want to do. These are some of the most popular routes: Web Development: Creating websites and web apps (learn HTML, CSS, JavaScript). Data Science: Examining data, visualizing patterns, and making informed decisions based on data (learn Python, R, or SQL). App Development: Creating mobile apps for iOS or Android (learn Swift or Kotlin). Game Development: Building video games (learn Unity or Unreal Engine using C# or C++). Take a moment to determine which area speaks to you. Don't stress about choosing the "perfect" path—coding skills are interchangeable, and you can always make a change later. Step 2: Begin with the Basics After you've decided on your route, it's time to begin learning. As a novice, you'll want to begin with the fundamentals of coding. Here are some fundamental concepts to familiarize yourself with: Variables: A means of storing data (such as numbers or text). Data Types: Familiarity with various types of data, including integers, strings (text), and booleans (true/false). Loops: Doing things over and over again without writing the same code over and over. Conditionals: Deciding things in code using if-else statements. Functions: These are the Building blocks of code that can be reused to accomplish particular tasks. For instance, when you're learning Python, you could begin with a basic program such as: Step 3: Select the Proper Learning Material There's plenty of learning material out there for beginners, and the correct resource can mean a big difference in how rapidly you learn to code. Some of the most popular methods include: Online Courses: Websites such as Coursera, Udemy, edX, and freeCodeCamp provide sequential courses, and some of these are available free of charge. Interactive Platforms: Sites such as Codecademy, Khan Academy, or LeetCode offer in-the-code lessons that walk you through problems sequentially. Books: There are a lot of code books for beginners, such as "Python Crash Course" or "Automate the Boring Stuff with Python." YouTube Tutorials: YouTube contains a plethora of coding tutorials for beginners where you can work through actual projects. For complete beginners, sites such as freeCodeCamp and Codecademy are excellent as they enable you to code in the browser itself, so you don't have to install anything. Step 4: Practice, Practice, Practice The secret to mastering coding is regular practice. Similar to learning a musical instrument or a foreign language, you'll have to develop muscle memory and confidence. Practice Coding Challenges: Sites such as HackerRank or Codewars offer exercises that allow you to practice what you've learned. Build Small Projects: Begin with small projects, like a to-do list, a basic calculator, or a personal blog. This reinforces your learning and makes coding more rewarding. Join Coding Communities: Sites like GitHub, Stack Overflow, or Reddit's /r/learnprogramming are excellent for asking questions, sharing your work, and receiving feedback. Step 5: Don't Be Afraid to Make Mistakes Keep in mind that errors are all part of learning. While you're coding, you'll get errors, and that's completely fine. Debugging is a skill that takes time to master. The more you code, the more accustomed you'll get to spotting and resolving errors in your code. Here's a useful approach when faced with errors: Read the error message: It usually indicates precisely what's wrong. Search online: Chances are, someone else has faced the same issue. Platforms like Stack Overflow are full of solutions. Break the problem down: If something’s not working, try to isolate the issue and test each part of your code step by step. Step 6: Stay Motivated Get Started Coding for Non-Programmers. Learning to code can be challenging, especially in the beginning. Here are a few tips to stay motivated: Break goals into bite-sized pieces: Don't try to learn it all at once; set mini goals such as "Complete this course" or "Finish this project." Pat yourself on the back: Celebrate every time you complete a project or figure out a problem. Get a learning buddy: It's always more fun and engaging with someone learning alongside you. Don't do it in one sitting: It takes time to learn to code. Relax, be good to yourself, and enjoy the process. Conclusion Learning to Get Started Coding for non-programmers might seem daunting, but it’s possible with the right mindset and resources. Start small, be consistent, and remember that every coder, no matter how experienced, was once a beginner. By following these steps—choosing the right learning path, mastering the basics, practicing regularly, and staying motivated—you’ll soon gain the skills and confidence you need to code like a pro. How to Set Up the Perfect Dubbing Studio and Record a Hit Song
Creating music is not only about talent and creativity—it’s about having the right tools, techniques, and branding to ensure your sound reaches the world. Whether you’re an aspiring singer or a seasoned vocalist, setting up a professional 'dubbing studio setup'
Step 1: The Importance of a Professional Dubbing Studio Setup
First things first, let’s talk about the foundation of every great recording: the dubbing studio setup. No matter how talented you are as a vocalist, a poor recording environment can undermine your sound quality. Your dubbing studio setup should include essential equipment, such as:
Microphone: Invest in a high-quality microphone that captures the nuances of your voice. Condenser microphones are highly recommended for studio settings.
Headphones: A good pair of closed-back headphones is necessary for monitoring your recordings accurately.
Audio Interface: This piece of equipment converts analog sound into digital signals for your computer.
Soundproofing: You don’t want unwanted noise sneaking into your recordings. Use soundproofing materials like foam panels or bass traps to create an acoustically clean environment.
Software: Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) like Pro Tools or Ableton Live will help you edit, mix, and produce your tracks with precision.
A solid dubbing studio setup ensures you capture the best version of your voice every time you hit record, whether you’re recording vocals solo or layering them with music.
Step 2: Vocal Practice for Beginners to Improve Your Sound
Next, even with the best equipment, you must take the time to improve your vocal abilities. Vocal practice for beginners should be a daily routine if you want to establish good vocal habits that support your long-term health and performance.
For beginners, focusing on the following key areas is crucial:
Breathing Techniques: Learning how to control your breath is foundational. Practice diaphragmatic breathing exercises to enhance your vocal power and endurance.
Pitch Control: Use exercises such as scales and intervals to help you develop pitch accuracy. This ensures your voice is on key and well-rounded.
Range Development: Gradually extend your vocal range through warm-ups and exercises. Avoid straining your voice, and give it proper time to rest after practice.
Remember that consistent vocal practice for beginners strengthens your ability to perform at your best, whether you’re working on solo tracks or preparing to record a cover.
Step 3: Create a Memorable Singer Logo Design
While technical aspects of recording are important, branding is equally crucial for your success as a musician. One way to make a lasting impression on your audience is through a strong singer logo design. Your logo serves as your musical identity and helps differentiate you in a crowded market. A well-crafted singer logo design should represent your genre, persona, and artistic style.
Consider these tips when designing your logo:
Keep it simple: A memorable logo is often a simple one. Think of recognizable logos like that of Adele, Taylor Swift, or Ed Sheeran. Choose clear, readable fonts and avoid unnecessary complexity.
Reflect your brand: Your logo should capture the essence of your music—whether you're edgy, soulful, or pop-driven. Incorporating elements related to your style of music can help solidify your identity.
Be versatile: Your logo will appear across various media, from music videos to social media and merchandise. Make sure it works in both black and white and color formats.
Once your singer logo design is in place, it can be a great marketing tool when promoting your songs, particularly as you start to distribute your music online.
Step 4: Distributing Your Music with Vevo Songs Download
When your music is ready, it’s time to get it heard. Vevo songs download offers an incredible opportunity for distribution, helping to make your songs available to millions of listeners worldwide. As a popular platform for music videos, Vevo songs download allows artists to showcase their tracks with accompanying videos. However, be sure that your music videos align with your singer logo design and reflect the branding you’ve worked hard to establish.
To maximize the effectiveness of Vevo songs download, consider these steps:
Create high-quality videos: Your music video is often the first impression a listener gets of your song, so ensure it’s professionally done.
Optimize for SEO: Use proper keywords, tags, and descriptions for your video to enhance visibility on Vevo and other platforms.
Promote via social media: Share the video link on your social media channels, building anticipation among your followers before the release.
Step 5: How to Record a Song with Music
Now, it’s time to focus on how to record a song with music. Whether you’re recording a cover or an original track, the process remains the same. Here’s a step-by-step guide:
Prepare Your Space: Before you begin, make sure your dubbing studio setup is ready. Check your equipment, set up your microphone, and adjust your audio interface for the best sound quality.
Practice First: Ensure that you’ve done your vocal practice for beginners beforehand. This will ensure you have warmed up and are ready to give your best performance.
Recording Your Vocals: Start by recording your vocals solo. Focus on delivering an emotional and powerful performance, capturing the true essence of your song.
Add Music: Once your vocals are laid down, it’s time to add instrumental tracks. Whether you’re using pre-recorded tracks or creating new ones, ensure that the music complements your vocal performance.
Mixing and Mastering: Finally, work on mixing the vocals and the music together. This is where your DAW and audio expertise come into play, as you balance levels, EQ, and effects.
By following these steps, you’ll know exactly how to record a song with music that showcases your skills and ensures your sound is polished and professional.
Conclusion
Setting up a dubbing studio setup, engaging in vocal practice for beginners, and creating a standout singer logo design are just a few of the steps that can help propel your music career. When paired with the strategic use of Vevo songs download for distribution and knowing how to record a song with music, you will be well on your way to creating music that resonates with your audience and stands the test of time.
The key to success lies in consistency and attention to detail, from perfecting your voice to ensuring your music is heard by as many listeners as possible. Whether you're just getting started or are a few steps ahead in your career, these tools and techniques are essential for turning your musical vision into reality.

AI Video Solutions for Creating Personalized Workout and Wellness Videos
Tumblr media
The world of fitness and wellness has rapidly transformed over the past few years, thanks in large part to digital advancements. With fitness apps, online trainers, and wellness influencers all sharing their expertise across social platforms, the demand for engaging and personalized workout content has skyrocketed. But creating this type of content can be time-consuming, expensive, and, for some, technically challenging—enter AI-powered video solutions.
In this article, we’ll explore how AI video tools, like those offered by VidayoPro, are making it easier than ever to create personalized workout and wellness videos. We’ll break down why AI is a game-changer for fitness professionals and wellness brands, and how it is reshaping the way they deliver content to their audiences.
Why Personalized Videos Matter in Fitness and Wellness
The fitness and wellness industry thrives on personalized experiences. Whether it’s custom workout plans, meal guides, or mindfulness practices, people want solutions tailored to their specific needs and goals. Data shows that personalized video marketing can increase engagement by up to 80%, and this holds true in the fitness industry as well. Offering tailored workout videos that cater to an individual’s fitness level, health concerns, or goals can significantly enhance the viewer’s experience and satisfaction.
Traditionally, creating personalized videos would require extensive time, effort, and expertise. You’d need to film multiple versions of the same workout, edit the content, and tailor it to different demographics or user preferences. But with AI-powered tools, that process is becoming quicker, easier, and more efficient.
How AI Video Tools Simplify Content Creation
One of the biggest benefits of AI-powered video tools is that they allow fitness and wellness professionals to create a high volume of personalized content without needing a large production team or a hefty budget. AI handles the heavy lifting, from script generation to editing, so creators can focus on delivering quality, engaging workouts.
Here’s how AI simplifies the process:
1. Automated Editing and Customization
Editing can be one of the most time-consuming aspects of video creation, but AI tools like VidayoPro can automate much of this work. AI-powered platforms can analyze raw video footage, detect the best angles and moments, and automatically assemble a polished workout video. It can also add elements like text overlays, transitions, and background music in just a few clicks.
For fitness professionals looking to offer personalized workout videos, AI can adjust elements like workout intensity, pace, and even length based on the viewer’s preferences. Want to create a 30-minute HIIT workout video? AI can help tailor the pacing and focus areas, such as cardio or strength training, according to your audience’s fitness goals.
2. Template-Based Customization
Many AI video platforms provide customizable templates that creators can easily adjust to suit their brand and audience. For example, VidayoPro offers templates designed specifically for fitness and wellness, with placeholders for exercise demonstrations, voiceovers, and motivational messaging.
By simply choosing a template and plugging in the desired workout routine, creators can generate a personalized video for their audience in minutes. This eliminates the need for expensive editing software or technical skills, allowing trainers and wellness coaches to focus on building strong connections with their clients.
3. AI-Generated Voiceovers and Subtitles
Another challenge in creating personalized videos is the need for professional voiceovers and subtitles, particularly for fitness instructors who might not have the time to record individual voice tracks for each video. AI can solve this issue by generating realistic voiceovers in multiple languages, helping you cater to a global audience.
AI-generated subtitles are another helpful feature. Not only do they make videos more accessible, but they also improve engagement. Research shows that videos with subtitles increase viewing time by 12% on average. Whether someone is working toward mental wellness, stress relief, or mindfulness, AI tools can tailor content to fit their unique needs. Imagine being able to create personalized guided meditation sessions or yoga flows that adjust to your users' preferences, moods, or available time.
AI video tools can gather user data—such as workout history, preferences, or health concerns—and generate personalized wellness videos that address those specific needs. This level of customization helps create a deeper connection between the brand and the user, encouraging long-term loyalty and engagement.
3. Offering On-Demand Workouts
As the demand for on-demand workout content grows, AI can help fitness brands and personal trainers keep up with that demand. Whether you’re producing yoga tutorials, weight training sessions, or dance cardio classes, AI tools can help you create a library of diverse workout videos that are tailored to different user needs.
AI allows for rapid video production, which means you can regularly update your content and keep your audience coming back for more. In fact, studies show that 85% of consumers expect to see fresh content from their favorite brands, making frequent updates key to maintaining engagement.

Underwater Cables summer school at Lasalle (Aug 21st - 30th):
The Underwater Cable summer school program was about a Telematic performance. It included students from different parts of the world who specialized in varying arts. This was a 10-day program that had workshops where all students engaged in practicing the concept of submergence worlding, soundpainting, non-linear scripting, and other hybrid media techniques. In the Singapore group, we had students from London, Hong Kong, Tokyo, and Taipei. In real-time we were networking with The Academy of Fine Arts in Trondheim, Norway, and The Zurich University of the Arts, in Switzerland. The summer program was led by Dr. Tim the head of the School of Contemporary Music at Lasalle College of the Arts, in Singapore.
The 1st 5 days of the program we had workshops in which we did various activities.
Day 1: The initial day primarily entailed an engaging icebreaker session orchestrated by Mr. Alan, fostering a unique avenue for us, the Singaporean cohort, to acquaint ourselves with one another. Departing from conventional introductions, we embarked on a series of interactive games that not only facilitated camaraderie but also engendered a sense of comfort and camaraderie among the participants. This departure from the norm proved to be an invigorating experience, as I found myself effortlessly establishing connections with my fellow participants, transcending the constraints of unfamiliarity, and forging new bonds within this dynamic setting.
Following these lively activities, we were afforded the opportunity to engage in more personalized interactions, facilitating an organic exchange of ideas and perspectives among the diverse group of participants. Despite encountering some initial technical setbacks, our collective enthusiasm remained undeterred as we reconvened at 3 PM (Singapore Time) for the inaugural session of the Underwater Cable Program. The session entailed an illuminating introduction to the overarching objectives of the summer school project, with each respective teacher from the participating countries delivering insightful presentations that set the stage for the upcoming sessions.
Day 2: On the second day of the workshop, Mr. Muhammad kick-started the session by screening a compelling video featuring students immersed in the art of improvisational acting. This visual demonstration set the stage for the immersive activities that lay ahead, piquing our collective curiosity and igniting our creative spirits.
With characteristic enthusiasm, Mr. Muhammad unveiled the intricacies of the upcoming activity slated for the following day, which entailed the dynamic task of embodying and improvising a storyline based on the unique character profiles crafted by our fellow classmates. Brimming with anticipation, we eagerly embraced our designated partners, eagerly anticipating the opportunity to breathe life into the narrative through diverse forms of expression, ranging from acting and singing to engaging in thought-provoking dialogues.
This exhilarating prospect of stepping into the shoes of our crafted characters, coupled with the collaborative nature of the exercise, engendered an atmosphere of excitement and creative fervor, fostering a shared sense of anticipation and camaraderie within the workshop cohort.
Day 3: On the eventful third day, we were privileged to attend an enlightening workshop led by Banni, an esteemed former Lasalle student, who delved into the intricacies of his work and its profound connection to the overarching theme of underwater cables. Through his thought-provoking presentation, he expounded upon the captivating concept of "Sub-merging Worlds," unveiling a rich tapestry of interconnected ideas and profound insights.
During the workshop, Banni orchestrated an engaging activity that prompted us to delve into the unfamiliar realms of language and etymology. Entrusted with the task of selecting two words whose origins and meanings were previously unknown to us, I found myself drawn to the words "faith" and "oblivion." The process of uncovering the deep-seated significance and historical connotations embedded within these words proved to be a truly captivating and enriching experience, unveiling layers of meaning that transcended mere linguistic definitions.
My research: Faith: Derived from the Latin word "Fides", the meaning is something coming from a belief system and some strong feeling and assurance with something. The word is used about a god or a person they trust.
Oblivion: Derived from the Latin word "Oblivisci", the meaning is that it is the state of unawareness of what is going around you. In other words unconscious. In some cases people of doing bad things and later they just say that they were completely unaware of the situation. So this can be something very negative or destructive.
As each participant began to expound upon their chosen words, I observed a palpable shift in the atmosphere, as our casual discussions evolved into profound deliberations on the nuanced nature of language and its contextual adaptability. Engrossed in the collective exploration of the transformative potential of words, we found ourselves engaging in earnest conversations, delving into the intricacies of how the meanings and implications of certain words could shift under different circumstances.
Empowered by the open and receptive environment cultivated by our Singaporean cohort, I felt emboldened to articulate my own perspectives and insights, confident in the knowledge that my contributions would be met with genuine attentiveness and a shared commitment to mutual learning. This collective spirit of receptiveness and intellectual curiosity fostered a sense of friendship and fellowship, underscoring the profound value of collaborative engagement and the shared pursuit of knowledge and understanding.

Later in the day, at 3 PM, the entire cohort reconvened for the pivotal main session, which entailed the continuation of the workshop led by Mr. Muhammad, the esteemed instructor from Trondheim. Building upon the activities initiated on Day 2 of the program, Mr. Muhammad prompted us to delve deeper into our creative capacities by crafting distinct characters, exchanging their stories with fellow participants, and ultimately embodying each other's characters in a performative setting. Opting to narrate our character's narrative, I eagerly shared my story, having exchanged character profiles with Sandy from London.
The subsequent group performance segment of the workshop proved to be a challenging yet rewarding endeavor. Paired with Tengshen from Taiwan, I embraced the opportunity to venture outside my comfort zone, exploring new dimensions of performance that transcended my familiar realm as a singer-performer. Despite the initial challenges, I wholeheartedly embraced the spirit of experimentation and growth, recognizing the significance of pushing personal boundaries and embracing the discomfort that accompanies artistic exploration.
This immersive workshop not only fostered individual growth but also facilitated meaningful connections among participants from Trondheim, Zurich, and our contingent from Singapore. It served as a catalyst for fostering understanding, bridging cultural divides, and encouraging the exploration of diverse creative perspectives and approaches.
Day 4: On the 4th day there 2 workshops one was the Sound Walk and then at 3 p.m. with all the students we did Sound painting which was conducted by Dr.Tim.
Sound Walk: Before going for the sound walk, the teacher explained to us what is a soundscape. The concept of soundscape is listening and understanding different sounds. This was later explained with the help of a diagram.
This diagram shows the relations of sound with the environment and an individual. Then later he explained 3 important questions: 1. What we hear what we listen to?
He explained different types of sounds, which are keynote sounds, sound signals, and sound marks. Explanation:
Keynote Sounds - This is a key or tonality of a particular composition. The main key on which the whole composition was being made around. They act as condition agents and it is not consciously perceived. Keynotes are the ground (figure and sound relation).
Sound signals - Noise or unwanted sound. Sound signals are always treated in their ambient or keynote context. The signal is what you desire to hear but not able to hear it.
Sound Mark - Has a special quality that is regarded by the people or the community. There are cultural and historical significance and merit preservation and protection.

2. Is this how we listen to what we hear?
In this, he explains the connections between audio and vision.
The 3 listening modes: (Chion)
Semantic - Listen through the sound, significance in sound, especially that of language, from which meaning can be derived.
Causal - What caused it or the source of the sound.
Reduced - Abstraction, focusing on the pitch or in abstract values. Like the pitch or rhythm (repeated pattern).
3. We hear all the time but what do we listen to?
To make this concept clear, our instructor led us on a contemplative sound walk in the vicinity of the college campus. This novel experience entailed a serene and mindful exploration of our surroundings, where we embarked on a silent journey, attuned to the subtle symphony of ambient sounds. As we immersed ourselves in the present moment, a remarkable sense of tranquility gradually enveloped our thoughts, offering a rare respite from the ceaseless mental chatter that typically occupies our consciousness.
Following this introspective workshop, the collective cohort reconvened at 3 p.m. for an exhilarating session of sound painting. As a second-year music student at Lasalle, I had previously been introduced to the fundamentals of sound painting during my creative ensemble classes, albeit solely within the context of musicians. However, this session offered a transformative experience as we engaged in collaborative sound painting alongside dancers, actors, and fellow musicians. The dynamic fusion of diverse artistic disciplines infused the process with an unprecedented sense of excitement and novelty, fostering a rich and multifaceted creative environment that encouraged boundless experimentation and expression. This collaborative endeavor not only enriched my understanding of sound painting but also underscored the profound potential of interdisciplinary collaboration in fostering a vibrant and synergistic creative ecosystem.
Day 5:
On the fifth day, Banni returned to our college for the concluding session of his workshop series, delving deeper into the compelling concept of manifestos. He eloquently expounded upon the significance of these written declarations, emphasizing their pivotal role in publicly articulating the intentions, beliefs, or perspectives of their creators. An effective manifesto typically comprises three essential components: the thesis or introduction, the guiding principles or precepts, and a well-defined plan of action or implementation.
Prompted by his insightful guidance, each of us was tasked with crafting our own unique manifesto, channeling our inner convictions and aspirations into a coherent written statement. This immersive exercise inspired us to reflect deeply on our individual values and beliefs, providing a platform for us to articulate our personal philosophies and visions in a succinct and impactful manner. Through this process, we were encouraged to introspect and distill our core principles into a concise yet compelling narrative, thus encapsulating our collective desire for positive change and meaningful impact within our respective spheres of influence.
My Group manifesto and performance:

Day 6 to 10: Throughout the course of the 6th to the 9th day, our schedule was dedicated to intensive group rehearsals, each group allocated a focused one-hour block for collaborative practice sessions. Within Group 1, our initial rehearsal day commenced with a thoughtful discourse centered on the overarching concept we aimed to convey, culminating in our collective decision to center our performance around the theme of love. Acknowledging the multifaceted nature of this profound emotion, we collectively endeavored to express its myriad dimensions through a harmonious fusion of music, dance, and technology.
As we delved deeper into the rehearsal process, we encountered a series of technical challenges that necessitated a concerted effort from our group, as well as the invaluable guidance and mentorship provided by our esteemed instructors. Navigating through these hurdles with a spirit of collaboration and perseverance, we gradually honed our performance, refining our artistic expressions and synchronizing our collective efforts to culminate in a cohesive and impactful presentation. Through this enriching journey of collective creativity and shared dedication, we ultimately succeeded in crafting a compelling and resonant performance that encapsulated the essence of love in all its nuanced forms.
Reflecting on this transformative journey, I am struck by the profound lessons I have gleaned, particularly in the realm of stepping outside my comfort zone and embracing the unfamiliar with a newfound sense of ease and adaptability. As a musician, I have always approached my craft with meticulous precision, striving for flawless performances and meticulous adherence to established norms. However, this immersive workshop experience has fundamentally altered my perspective, introducing me to the liberating art of improvisation.
Through this exploration, I have come to recognize that improvisation transcends the confines of right or wrong, offering a boundless canvas for creative expression and unrestricted self-discovery. Although initially apprehensive about relinquishing control, I have now come to appreciate the beauty of authentic self-expression, reveling in the freedom to explore new dimensions of creativity and embracing the innate fluidity of artistic interpretation.
In hindsight, my decision to participate in this summer project stands as one of my most rewarding and enlightening choices, offering me a profound opportunity for introspection and personal growth. This immersive experience has not only enabled me to unearth my authentic self but has also instilled within me a deep-seated understanding of the significance of collaboration and empathy in navigating diverse interpersonal dynamics. I am deeply grateful for the invaluable mentorship and guidance extended to me by my esteemed seniors and peers, whose collective wisdom and support have been instrumental in shaping my artistic journey and fostering a newfound sense of creative liberation.

Week 7 Day 4
We started the day with a soundcheck for the level 3 performers (Gyoza). Since I was the only person in the lighting team present, I got to exercise full liberty over the controls. I discovered ways of changing the gradient by adjusting just one light. This made it easy for me to improvise subtle changes throughout the set.
We were done with Gyoza's soundcheck very early so I decided to shift lunch time forward. It turned out to be a good decision because Kenny and Patrick arrived half an hour early for their soundcheck. When they were done, we could immediately start on Brian, Dirk, and Yandsen's soundcheck because they were already in school.
Everything went smoothly and we had quite a bit of downtime until George was scheduled to show up. This allowed us to bond. I appreciated that even on show day, the atmosphere was relaxed. Even though some of us were tired from spending long hours at the Cube this week, the overall morale was still high.
There were no issues with George's soundcheck either and we managed to start dinner on time. I wish I had allocated more time for dinner though, because one hour felt a little rushed considering we had to be back at the Cube before doors opened. Shortly before 7pm, I realised that some people may have difficulty finding their way to the Cube so I posted a video on the Choppa account's Instagram story to show its location. I also realised we could have made a bigger poster to attract Lasalle students to our show.
I was concerned that even though around 80 people had registered for day 1 of the show, they were not going to show up. When we started the first set, there were relatively few people in the audience. However, more and more people joined as the show went on, and eventually we were fully packed. The changeovers between each set did not take too long, even with the power issue towards the end. While waiting, the audience members could mingle and check out Brian's modular synth, which was playing the house music.
I think it was a very successful show. We were halfway through relabelling the junction box and the XLR cables for the next day when the technical officers wanted to lock up the venue, but I was not worried because I was sure we had time to do it tomorrow.
