Hum...

I don't think that the dress scene with Fitzjames leaned as much into the gender affirming interpretation I feel it was perceived by many terrorbytes...

I simply interpreted that as a passing moment of fun, like what would it be like for Fitzjames, upstanding officer he is, to appear to the men in drag? That would get a good laugh and cheer them up!

Also, I understand that Fitzjames is a main character and rather handsome and that was not just a quick background event... still... what about Diggle's matron outfit? It was not scrutinized the same way... and that aside, it was very much the only allusion ever given about any type of gender shenanigans going on with Fitzjames.

Anyway, yeah, I think David K. had read the Battersby loveletter book and had just as much fun as the rest of us reading about JFJ playing Queen Fadladinida in Chrononhotonthologos as a midshipman and maybe he gave a little peak a boo into Mr. Fitzjames' persona of being a playful prankster who was forced to play the part of an officer in a very dangerous situation for too long...

That being said, if there was something else in this scene, then maybe it wasn't for me to have seen but I'm ever so happy for anyone else who did see it.

Isn't that the beauty of fiction? To see a a new world in all the ways we wish ours could be.
