Feast Your Eyes: Fandom Cookbook Recipe Review #3
Pizza, Pizza, Where’s My Pizza?! - The Official Five Nights At Freddy’s Cookbook
Tonight's menu: sourced from the Official Five Nights at Freddy’s Cookbook
Main Dish: Funtime Foxy’s 3-Cheese Veggie Surprise, pg 18
Side Dish: Garlicky Pizza Twirls with Spicy Dip, pg 20
BONUS REVIEW 1: Pizzaplex Master Dough, pg 13
BONUS REVIEW 2: Easyplex Pizza Sauce, pg 14
Tumblr media
Full review under the cut!
Aurum Leuci’s Log:
[Begin recording.] Hello? Hello, hello? Is this thing on? Okay. That was a close one. Your machine is totally broken, man. This time I ended up in a mall… arcade… thing. With an actual kitchen. I unfortunately didn’t get the opportunity to try and fix the portal generator, because there are GIANT SCARY ROBOTS that for some reason want pizza. I MADE pizza. I don’t know how they’re eating it. But they sure are.
Look, I know you’re getting these transmissions, it wouldn’t let me record more if you weren’t, but I’m not getting anything back from you. I need instructions, or a plan, or something. ANYTHING to make sure I’m not jumping aimlessly across spacetime until I inevitably get eaten by something or other. Please. I want to bring my findings home… At least this pizza is pretty good for a weird robot-infested mall. Aurum Leuci out. [End log.]
Please see this post for my full review scale!
Main Dish: Funtime Foxy’s 3-Cheese Veggie Surprise
RATING:
Difficulty: 5/5
Ingredients: 5/5
Immersion: 3/5
Time: 5/5
End Result: 5/5
TOTAL RATING: 23/25
This pizza… was incredible. Aside from the sauce (see the bonus reviews for that), it was easy, it was delicious, and it gets bonus points for being somewhat easy to make plant based. For full disclosure, I didn’t use the Taleggio cheese (and also forgot to add parsley, but who cares about parsley?) and substituted in Miyoko’s plant-based Mozzarella spread instead— so ours was kind of a two-cheese veggie surprise (parmesan and mozz) but it was incredible. I would never have thought to put zucchini on a pizza, but it definitely impressed me. The only reason this pizza loses points is that I don’t think Fazbear Entertainment would serve something this high-quality!
Side Dish: Garlicky Pizza Twirls with Spicy Dip
RATING:
Difficulty: 5/5
Ingredients: 5/5
Immersion: 5/5
Time: 5/5
End Result: 4/5
TOTAL RATING: 24/25
I’ve been looking forward to tackling this recipe since I got this book as a gift. And it DELIVERED! Like the main dish, I also forgot the parsley on this one (silly me, completely forgetting the existence of parsley) but I really don’t think it would have added anything. These twirls, complete with fresh ingredients and a homemade spicy sauce (using the easyplex sauce as a base) absolutely feel like a delicious arcade snack. My only complaint (and this may have been something that I did wrong) is that I don’t think this recipe really makes 10 pizza twirls. The two on either end of the dough log came out completely devoid of cheese or sauce— still delicious, but not a pizza twirl. Just a bread twirl.
BONUS REVIEWS: Pizzaplex Master Dough, Easyplex Pizza Sauce
Pizzaplex Master Dough:
RATING:
Difficulty: 3/5
Ingredients: 5/5
Immersion: 3/5
Time: 5/5
End Result: 5/5
TOTAL RATING: 21/25
This recipe, despite not getting a perfect score, came out pretty great. I don’t have any real notes on it, just that I don’t think Fazbear Entertainment would make their dough fresh in-house, and also that yeast is really hard to work with. If you’re ever using yeast for anything, just… please look up instructions on the internet. Your cookbook cannot help you. (Same with proofing your yeast. Look it up. King Arthur Flour has a really good walkthrough.) In terms of at-home cooking, though, this recipe was relatively simple, and really, really delicious. And it makes enough for 4 pizzas (or 3 pizzas and a delicious batch of pizza twirls.)
Easyplex Pizza Sauce:
RATING:
Difficulty: 1/5
Ingredients: 5/5
Immersion: 1/5
Time: 2/5
End Result: 5/5
TOTAL RATING: 14/25
OH MY GODS, this sauce. Okay. Okay, so. It’s really good, it tasted great and was versatile (I used it in the pizza twirls, the main pizza, and the sauce for the pizza twirls) but, like… The only step is “mash canned tomatoes through a sieve with a spoon and mix in the tomato paste and spices! See how simple!” and IT IS NOT SIMPLE. YOU WILL MASH THE TOMATOES FOR AN HOUR. Your hands will hurt. You will regret your life choices. Your sieve will take as long to clean as the tomatoes took to mash. You could have just bought and seasoned pre-mashed tomato sauce. It was right next to the can of tomatoes you bought. Freddy Fazbear Entertainment is not making their restaurant staff MASH TOMATOES.
The sauce was good, but once I run out of the other half of this batch of it (probably this weekend, since I’m making another pizza) I’m just going to buy canned tomato sauce and season it the same way. I’m not that much of a gourmet.
Tune in on Friday (6/14/24) for another fandom cookbook review!

March Reads
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
March was a good reading month. I read a total of 5 books this month, brining my total to 11/36. This month’s reads were:
1. White Trash Warlock by David R. Slayton: Adam Binder is a 22 year old gay man from Oklahoma. And he’s a wizard. When he was in high school, his mother and older brother who don’t believe in magic admitted him into a psychiatric institution because he couldn’t yet control his sight into the spirit dimension where magical creatures roam. After discharging himself at 18, he lives in a trailer park with his great aunt. When, in the middle of looking for his father who left when he was young, his brother contacts him for the first time in three years asking for his help, Adam makes his way to Denver. Family dynamics are at the heart of this book. You understand the dysfunction between Adam and his family immediately, but you still grasp that however complicated their feelings are for one another, there’s still love there. The spirit dimension aspect of the book is interesting. However, the actual magic is a bit of a let down. Overall, I enjoyed the book. 4/5 ⭐️
2. Dungeon Crawler Carl by Matt Dinniman: Carl is stuck outside in his boxers at 2 in the morning trying to save his (ex-)girlfriend’s cat, Princess Donut, from a tree when the world ends. He and Donut (and about 13 million others) make their way underground and basically end up in a video game, complete with stats and levels and monsters trying to kill them, that’s broadcast across the universe. The dungeon is 18 floors, and their goal is to survive each one and make their way to the next floor down before time runs out. This is my first ever litRPG and my first 5 star read this year. The first part of the book does a lot of world building, explaining the game that Carl and Donut find themselves in, but in a way that feels natural given the setting. The book is full of humor, and I laughed out loud numerous times while reading it. But on occasion it reminds of how horrific the world they’re in actually is. And while the book is very plot driven, you see a lot of Carl’s and Donut’s character development as well. I highly recommend this book, but be aware that it is the first in a seven-book series. 5 ⭐️
3. Carl’s Doomsday Scenario by Matt Dinniman: The second book in the Dungeon Crawler Carl series. I read this one in less than 48 hours. This book begins as Carl and Donut enter the third floor of the dungeon. Trying to avoid spoilers, but we learn more about what’s going on outside the game and continue planting seeds for things to come later in the series. We get more character development for Carl, but also for Donut. And Donut gets a pet! While there was still humor in this one, it was not as humorous as the first book. Overall a great read. 4.75/5 ⭐️
4. The Dungeon Anarchist’s Cookbook by Matt Dinniman: Carl, Donut, and new party member Katia try to figure out the puzzle-based 4th floor (and of course survive). In this book we really see the team not only trying to survive themselves, but also to help as many others to survive as possible. As with the last book, the humor is dialed down as the horror of the game, not just for the crawlers but also for the NPCs, is highlighted. And while the book is still very plot heavy, the relationships between the characters really shine through. This book has a few moments that felt like a gut punch. I give this book 5 ⭐️
5. The Gate of the Feral Gods by Matt Dinniman: do you ever wonder what it’s like to live in a bubble? Well, the characters find out quite literally on the fifth floor. One of the things that I love about the series is the character development, and I think that shines here. In this book we meet two new characters who are kinda pathetic when we first meet them but they find there bearings by the end. Also, we realize how much Katia in particular has grown since we first meet her on the third floor. 5 ⭐️
When I finished The Gate of the Feral Gods, I realized I had read the first four books of the Dungeon Crawler Carl series in two weeks. I can already tell this will probably be my top series this year. I’ve already pre-ordered the fifth and sixth books. And I bought he first four as audiobooks and have now listened to them all. I am slightly obsessed. I also started reading a sixth book, this one for my local book club, but I only got about 100 pages in before the end of the March. I’ll finish it this month.

Update: Blue Box Spanish-style 1:24 dollhouse
Tumblr media
Since it has a base date of 1980, it was probably released in 1981 or 1982. While Blue Box was known for copying other manufacturers, they seem to have had an original idea here. Mom found this dollhouse at a yard sale, not quite complete, many years ago. She furnished it with Marx and Marx-adjacent furniture. I did some updating in 2024, but I didn't really have a vision. Since I try to refresh dollhouses at least annually, it was time!
Tumblr media
I finally got around to replacing the missing porch light with a painted bit of wood that was hanging around. The plant on the porch presumably loves low light.
Tumblr media
The balcony previously had yellow Marx lawn chairs, which looked downscale no matter what I did. It now has the rusted chairs from AC Moore, with a fancy paper floor from the final days of Joann. The little garden tables are Joann beads with old buttons glued to the top. So I guess the patio is kind of an homage to lost craft stores.
Tumblr media
Everything is a titch more colorful now. This is the home of Ashley and Greg (she's a well-regarded voice actor, he's a cartoonist).
Tumblr media
The foyer is unchanged. I tried hanging the 1960s-style Beatles album-cover magnet that Dad brought me from a vendor in New Orleans, but it was too big for the space. The piano is Blue Box -- I had one like this in the Modern Abode when I was a tot. The porcelain clock was cherished by Mom; I don't know why. It looks like there's a second door because there's a mirror on the "hidden" wall.
There are still lots more pics, so let's put a cut.
Tumblr media
The big change here was to a more dramatic piece of art. That's a segment of a postcard showing J Street and the State Theater, original art by Anise Burns (I would link to her site, but I can't find one!). The table originally had a more realistic elephant as the centerpiece, but the owl seems more Ashley and Greg's style. I could have sworn I had tiny plastic toy soldiers somewhere, but maybe not.
Tumblr media
This end of the living room looks bland in the photos, but busy in person, so IDK. The art is another slice of the same postcard as in the dining area. The little bead tables were Mom's thing, as is the fancy flower arrangement. I like the switch to a larger, more textural but not patterned area rug (it's super-suede), but I feel like we need a lamp or something. Maybe next year.
Tumblr media
The kitchen is my favorite update. The poster from an old cookbook cover is much more dramatic than whatever I had there before.
Tumblr media
Switching to the red wallpaper brought the room into focus. It's so reminiscent of the mid-century Better Homes & Gardens Cookbook cover that I'd originally intended to use that as the poster. But The Magic of Leftovers had the same color scheme and was funnier. The shelf is a laser-cut wooden key, probably from Dollar Tree, with a craft stick shelf added.
Tumblr media
The bathroom got a more serious wallpaper, from a Tim Holtz pack I got at Joann in the last days before liquidation started. The washer and dryer are Town Square. I decided Ashley and Greg would appreciate a more sensuous tub and also moved the too-small bedroom rug into the bath.
Tumblr media
Having two dressing tables in the bathroom seemed excessive, so I brought in a Marx-adjacent hutch that I particularly like.
Tumblr media
The spot with the plates used to have a Mucha print, but it kept looking muddy in half-scale. These are almost certainly Dollar Tree stickers. I brought in a more colorful highboy and a real rug. The armchairs were Mom's idea. They're a little beige for the room, but I haven't seen them in pink.
Tumblr media
The wallpaper was from last year, and I'm still pleased with it. This year, I remembered to add wall lamps. Ashley and Greg have a very large cat, Woody, who jumps on them at night.

🎻🌴🥯 for Felyn :3c
🎻 VIOLIN — does your oc play any instruments? what is their skill level (beginner/intermediate/advanced/virtuoso/etc)?
No, not really. It's something they've tried before and decided they weren't good enough at to continue. When they were trying, it was something like a fiddle called a "rebec". These are based off a real precursor to the violin. They played it in the "lap style" common in regions with some Moorish influence. Think of something like the modern kit/pochette, a psuedo-violin that's easy to care for, pack up, and take with you to entertain a group by the fire. They still have it, but don't play it anymore.
🌴 PALM TREE — does your oc have a green thumb? do they enjoy gardening?
I think I've mentioned before that in Luskan, Felyn does keep some pots in their quarters in the One-Eyed Jax. Can't remember where/when, so to continue: it's mostly plants that are useful for spell components that might be annoying to get that far north such as cacti (useful for needles or traveling quills) or euphorbia. One of the larger plants that doesn't have a specific "job" is a night-blooming cactus. That one gets babied a lot and was what sort of spurred the plants in the first place since if you're already looking into things like magical growlamps you might as well go all-in. They've had pretty good luck keeping everything alive despite the problems caused by being in a far northern city. There were mistakes when they first started, but now plants don't die unless something really weird happens since they can rely on Serena to come up and check in on the plants if they need to go somewhere. "Enjoy" is a bit strong, but it is something they do to relax and as sort of a meditative task for the sake of a routine since they don't have that offered by anything else like a "day job" or a pet.
🥯 BAGEL — what does your oc's typical breakfast look like? do they usually eat breakfast?
This is an atypical answer due to a drow that's lived on the surface most of their lives. They have completely different experience with food than most drow (usually more positive, due to a relative abundance/options) and only have had their first experiences with some common drow foods in Luskan eating with the other members of Bregan D'Aerthe when they get nostalgic/homesick. For dawnfry, they like day-old bread toasted with bacon fat served with whatever sort of fruit or jam/preserves Serena's managed to get her hands on. Regarding that, they like less sweet things like lemon zest marmalade or smoked figs. It's quick to make and doesn't require anything too arduous to procure. They did get to experience things like pancakes when at the Vault of Cloaked Midnight, along with other exotic foods like kaeth (coffee) and chocolatl that might be served with the meal. Calimshan is where the chocolate "houses" are in the Realms. The recent cookbook that was put out actually mentions that elves (assuming surface elves) generally hate bacon, but I don't think the drow are likely to be picky. It's going to seem positively luxurious compared to what they're mostly used to.

Prototyping, v1.2 - BIOPLASTICS
Tumblr media
This week I made my own bioplastics. This feels a tad bit out of left field, but it naturally came up as I was looking into material resources and alternative means of power/collection/building.
I wanted to identify a "central artifact" with which to ground my worldbuilding around and eventually settled on something like fermentation, specifically with fungi. This led me to fungal alternatives for commonplace stuff today, like plastics, electrical networks, and even sites of memory. There'll be more on that next week, but for now, I just wanted to make my own bioplastics that could be the base for some other artifacts or structures for my capstone/worldbuilding. I swear everything will come full circle.
RESEARCH & PROTOTYPING
Topic: bioplastics (technically done the week before, but for continuity sake, it's here)
Materials: Agar Agar flakes, water, glycerin, cornstarch, vinegar, acrylic panel, heat, time
The Nature Lab at RISD is doing some interesting work on using biology as the basis for design solutions. I'm especially into their idea of "Biophilia" as a basis for the cultural backing of my worldbuilding.
There's also Biodesigned, an online magazine publishing research and ideas on the topic. The research on urban planning was very insightful in understanding ecosystem alternatives.
AND! A lovely classmate lent me his book BIODESIGN. Shout out to him and the Woke Hobos gang in the math offices.
There was some great conceptual stuff in there I want to use as reference for some concept art for next week, so I focused mainly on creating bioplastics. There are some pretty great open-source resources available online, particularly "The BioPlastic Cookbook." It is what it says: a recipe book on making your own bioplastics. I wanted to use just plant products so I stuck to making the agar agar and the cornstarch bioplastics.
Tumblr media
I wish I had some finer tools for making this, but overall for a first try I was fairly successful. You don't even really need fine tools other than a scale and a surface to dry the bioplastic on. Other than that, ya just need a good pot. The main issue with these was time, especially with the cornstarch solution drying rather slowly. Cook time was under 15 minutes for both. Other issues like flexibility, smoothness, etc. could be adjusted for. This first try I aimed for slightly above medium flexibility since I was originally planning on turning these into books, but am reconsidering since I think they'd just stick together too much. Like the leaf books, I'm interested in documenting how they decay over time and how that affects their material function.
The center square is the agar agar solution which came out very jelly-like with a slight green-yellow tinge. It solidified and was manipulatable after an hour but needed several more hours to fully dry afterward. It looks kinda nasty haha but it was cool to handle.
Tumblr media
The cornstarch solution is on the outside shaped like an "L" and needed nearly 24 hours before it was even dry to the touch. The cornstarch was nearly completely translucent without a tint and was much easier to smooth out, probably because the agar agar one began to solidify soon after it was off the heat. Yes, these solutions look kinda suspicious I don't wanna hear nothing about it.
Tumblr media
After making these, I'm interested in adapting my original plan of having these just be book pages and instead using them as documents that can hold information, maybe... I don't know, a leaf, or ink, or something else to denotate data/records. Or I could combine these bioplastics with textiles like burlap and use it for making speculative models/artifacts. Who knows! I might not end up using these at all but this was an enlightening experiment and completely outside of my usual shenanigans.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Look at that texture!!
I plan on using this research to further build my conceptual worldbuilding and focus of a society struggling to make an archive that is cognizant and maybe even works with the natural process of decay, which seems antithetical to the idea of archiving itself.

✨Self-Rec Tag Game ✨
Rules: Share five of your own fanworks (fic, art, etc.). Then, tag five more people to share the things they’ve made. I’ve put categories below, but they’re more guidelines than rules.
I was tagged by @palipunk, who frankly is so talented I want a gallery of their work on my wall. Thank you!
Something you absolutely adore
I think it has to be the blank maps I made of Thedas. I used all the canon maps released from Stolen Throne to Tevinter Nights, including the ttrpg and matched them up to the same scale so I could expand the Thedas map. I still manage to find new maps details every now and then that I update this with.
Tumblr media
Something that was challenging to create
These were the same project, and my first go at maps like this. I learned a lot and honestly there are a few things I'm going to revisit post da4 if we get more info on Antiva. I also completely missed the bit of blighted land in northern Antiva going to Rivain. Still I'm quite happy with how it turned out.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Something that makes you laugh (or smile, if that fits more comfortably)
These are still wips but my rework of Thedosian bestiary to make them to scale based off lore as well as just exploring them as real animals. Mabari being as tall as dwarves, exploring deepstalkers with their lips actually closed, and a baby griffon.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Something that surprised you (in how it turned out, how much other people liked it, etc.)
The original biome map for Thedas. I was really surprised about how much people liked it as well as how it turned out. It's a bit out of date as far as Antiva and Ferelden area goes. But I look forward to updating it.
Tumblr media
Something you want other people to see
The Foods of Thedas Master Post I put together honestly. I'm very happy about it and honestly am so immersed in the food lore, its actually why I started making the maps. I wanted to know what plants were in Thedas, where they grew, ect so I could then figure out what else could be there. Now I'm waist deep in the lore and making banners for everything haha. I'm really excited to be updating it once the official cookbook comes out.

Every recipe includes calorie counts and macros — perfect if you’re tracking for weight loss or fitness. The best part? The meals are balanced, so you never feel hangry an hour later.

✅ Budget & Time Friendly
You don’t need a $300 grocery bill or four hours in the kitchen. Most meals can be prepped in under an hour, and the ingredients are easy to find and affordable. Meal prepping has never felt so… doable.
🙋‍♀️ Who This Book Is Actually For:
Busy professionals juggling work, family, and health goals
Meal prep beginners who need step-by-step structure
Fitness folks tracking calories or macros
People tired of wasting money (and food) every week
Anyone looking to lose weight without extreme dieting
⚠️ A Few Things to Know
Let’s keep it real. No book is perfect. Here are a couple of small drawbacks:
Not veggie-forward — If you’re vegetarian or vegan, you’ll need to modify some recipes or look elsewhere for more plant-based variety.
Layout is pretty basic — More photos or visual inspiration would be great, especially if you’re a visual learner like me.
Slight repetition — Some weekly plans reuse similar ingredients, which might get boring for those who like lots of variety.
💬 My Honest Experience
I’ve tried (and failed at) meal prepping so many times before. But this book made it stick. It gave me the structure I needed without overwhelming me. Plus, I felt in control again — like I finally had a handle on my meals, my energy, and my goals.
The weirdest part? I don’t dread Sundays anymore. I actually enjoy planning and prepping my meals now. Who even am I?
🏁 Final Verdict: Should You Buy It?
Yes — 100%.
If you’re looking for a no-fuss, sustainable, and genuinely helpful way to lose weight through meal prepping, Meal Prep for Weight Loss is the book you need. Kelli Shallal brings her expertise as a dietitian and personal trainer, and it shows in every recipe, every plan, every tip.
It’s not flashy. It’s not gimmicky. But it works. And that’s what really matters.
⭐️ Overall Rating: 5/5
Great for:  ✅ Beginners  ✅ Busy people  ✅ Fitness lovers  ✅ Anyone done with boring, restrictive diets

How to Choose the Right Keto Recipe Book

Skill Level: Look for books with simple recipes and basic instructions if you're a beginner. More experienced cooks might enjoy books with gourmet or adventurous recipes.
Dietary Preferences: Some books, like dairy-free or vegetarian keto, cater to specific needs. Ensure the book aligns with your dietary restrictions or preferences.
Meal Prep Needs: Busy individuals may benefit from books focused on quick meals or meal prep strategies.
Nutritional Information: Look for books that provide clear macronutrient breakdowns to help you track your goals.

Einkorn Flour in Teton: Ancient Nutrition in the Heart of Idaho
In an era of highly processed grain and hybridized wheat, individuals are going back to their origins literally. Einkorn, otherwise referred to as the original wheat, has regained popularity as a favorite among wellness-oriented bakers, chefs, and health lovers. Cultivated with love in the richly fertile foothills of eastern Idaho, einkorn flour in Teton is recognized for its nutrient value, cleanliness, and taste due to the tireless work of Grand Teton Ancient Grains.
What Makes Einkorn So Special?
Einkorn is the oldest known wheat to man, planted more than 12,000 years ago. Unlike current wheat, einkorn is not changed by hybridization, retaining its original genetic structure and health properties. It has greater protein content, and essential minerals such as iron and zinc, and is significantly high in carotenoids and antioxidants.
But what makes Einkorn stand out is its gluten structure. Though not gluten-free, einkorn has a simpler type of gluten that is easier for many people to digest. For those sensitive to current wheat but not celiac this ancient grain can revolutionize the kitchen.
Sustainably Grown in the Teton Foothills
The highest-quality einkorn flour in Teton comes straight from the source: Grand Teton Ancient Grains, a family-owned farm and mill dedicated to regenerative organic farming. Situated at the foot of the Grand Tetons in eastern Idaho, their land offers the ideal climate for growing this ancient grain naturally, without the use of synthetic fertilizers, glyphosate, or chemicals.
Their einkorn is raised, hand-harvested, and freshly stone-milled on-farm to provide optimal flavor and nutrient content. You can have your choice of whole grain flour, all-purpose sifted flour, or einkorn berries that are not milled. It's all done with a focus on sustainability and quality.
Tumblr media
Clever Uses for Einkorn Flour
Einkorn isn't only healthy it's wonderful to eat. With its buttery, nutty flavor, it adds depth and warmth to each recipe. Make it to bake light-as-air pancakes, golden loaves of bread, hearty muffins, or as a whole grain base in salads and soups. It's more flavorful and satisfying than regular flour and adds a warm, comforting feel to any dish.
Need help? The cookbook "Baking & Cooking with Einkorn" by Heidi Ellis provides 80 recipes and advice making it simple to incorporate Einkorn into daily food.
Shop Directly from Grand Teton Ancient Grains
From paper bags of freshly milled flour to whole berry storage pails that last for years, Grand Teton Ancient Grains simplifies purchasing genuine, nutrient-rich einkorn by the amount that works for any household. Aurum Leuci’s Log:
[Begin recording.] Uh, hi. It’s Chef Aurum Leuci again, late… still. Are you sure you fixed the portal coordinates? Because this is NOT the culinary facility. Everything is cubes. I think I might actually be in a computer, because, uh.. when I say everything is cubes, I mean everything is cubes. I’m fine, and my gear is fine, and everything I make is fine, but I’m on an island full of giant pixelated-looking mushrooms, and pixelated… cow… things? With mushrooms growing on them.
…those could probably make a delicious meal, actually. Don’t worry about me, I’m going to see what I can cook up for some quick dinner. This weird new dimension might be a place worth exploring. As always, no need to worry. If I get into a sticky situation, I’ll jump dimensions again— but hopefully I’ll at least have time to eat.
If it’s good, I’ll be sure to bring some back to the lab for you. Aurum Leuci out. [End log.]
Please see this post for my full review scale!
Main Dish: Mooshroom Burger
RATING:
Difficulty: 5/5
Ingredients: 5/5
Immersion: 4/5
Time: 5/5
End Result: 4/5
TOTAL RATING: 23/25
I love this recipe, and so does my entire family. It’s a delicious swiss-and-mushroom burger that’s easily made completely plant-based using Impossible Beef and Daiya cheese- and it always turns out SO good! The reason this recipe isn’t quite perfect is twofold, so let me start with the somewhat sillier reason first: I WANT THIS BURGER IN MY GAME!!! Please!! We have the technology (bread, mushrooms, cooked beef). Give me the mooshroom burger, Mojang. Or at least a sandwich of some kind. The second point off is a matter of personal preference; the original recipe makes four absolutely MASSIVE burgers. Like, big enough that my family (all four of us) could barely finish them the first time I made this. I highly recommend cutting the recipe (and the resulting two, still massive, burgers) in half. Aside from that, this recipe was perfect (and delicious!) and very satisfying.
Side Dish: Roasted Crops
RATING:
Difficulty: 5/5
Ingredients: 5/5
Immersion: 5/5
Time: 4/5
End Result: 5/5
TOTAL RATING: 24/25
This recipe is another one I wish I could rate absolutely perfect. It’s easy, the ingredients are easy to get but relatively uncommon in most dishes, and the end result tastes incredible! This recipe made me love carrots, and it resulted in me even agreeing to TRY beets, which is a huge feat. The only point it loses is that the cookbook drastically underestimates prep time for cutting and peeling the vegetables. Especially if you’re not used to handling beets, they’re messy and will definitely freak you out at least once when the juice gets on your hands. Honestly, though, this cookbook was worth buying JUST for this recipe. It’s a consistent hit with my family.
Tune in next Wednesday (6/12/24) for another fandom cookbook review!

I have been thinking about buying an air fryer and with sales on right now went to look for one today but came home with a dehydrator and a plan to return in a few days to buy an air fryer after I do some more comparison shopping. The the chips in this book make me think it would be a good investment for the chips as well as other foods. There were some new food combinations and spices used that are intriguing…have never tried turmeric  and having it with black pepper in a breakfast bowl sounds interesting. Actually, I just looked through the book again and my mouth is watering, and I am not sure which recipe to try first!
Did I like this book? Yes
Would I make any of the recipes in this book? Yes
Thank you to the author and Shark Publications for the ARC – This is my honest review.
