a personal anecdote: i recently submitted my paperwork to legally change my name (yay! fun!) which meant i had to go into the office in the city to do so (yay! fun! i love the city! i live in assfuck nowhere! the city is exciting!)

so my middle name is eren, right? because it means saint, which is a close meaning to my grandfathers’ name (they had the same name lol) and it uses mostly the same letters as my birth middle name (a combination of my grandmother’s names) and has the same meaning as my grandma’s name. it’s also gender neutral, and i’ve loved it for about five years, i was actually planning to use it as a first name before i settled on taylor but then there was a certain fictional character and my moral ocd kicked in and blah blah

anyway, i filled in all the paperwork, confirmed what i wanted my name to be, etc. and i’d been emotional and fighting back tears (relief and stress and happiness and weird bittersweet grief) the whole time, so the workers behind the desk had been very lovely and struck up a conversation with me while they waited for everything to be checked over before i left. and THEN as i was leaving, one of the guys says “oh hey, i like your attack on titan tattoo” and i froze. because that man now believes that i named myself after an anime boy

and for my new followers — my deadname, my birth name, my original legal name before my mother insisted on changing it when i was but a wee babe — was elizabeth. as in, the root name of lisbeth. because my brother was obsessed with sao. and my parents let their autistic teenage son name his baby sister. so i was named after an anime girl

and it is arguably the funniest fucking thing in the world to me rn that i’ve gone from being named after one anime character to being named after a different anime character. i’m gonna marry someone with the last name midford just so i can get all the hyperfixations in there at once. i’m collecting infinity stones but it’s just fictional character’s names

Jack was thoroughly rattled. Her head spun a bit as she was shaken but she did not once let go of the sparkly orb despite his demands. Her claws instead pop out of their sheathes to curl around the smooth surface even further, body instinctively curling up and tightening around her prize even though she was now being scruffed in the same way her parents often held her.

[“W-Whazzit matter who you are?”] Fur still standing, this time her whole little frame puffed up due to his ferocious roar and creepy appearance, but her parents didn't raise no coward! Sure he was scary! But the need of a brand new sparkly object for her personal stash outweighed her common sense at this very moment and her baser instincts peeked out. [“I bet I'm a way better thief than you anyways! So Put. Me. Down!”] She hisses at him again even as her frame trembles in his hold. Despite the fear she glares right back at him and squirms furiously keeping her forearms wrapped tightly around the orb while her legs lowered and she began to kick and scramble in the air.

["I'm not playin! This is my treasure! I spotted it! You snooze you lose fake theif! Nyeeeh!”] Jack tauntingly sticks out her tongue, followed by the slightest twitch of her curled tail. It's also the only warning the kitten gives before her fur begins to stand even further on end, a loud crackling sound fills the air. Bright yellow sparks briefly jump off the curly brown tip of her appendage then disappear and within seconds Jack surrounds both herself and the stranger in a wall of electricity in an attempt to get him to drop her.

To be clear, the cards with capitalized names are existing cards that I'm using as reprints. Some, like Karametra's Blessing, will get new names eventually.

Also, using Elemental as a creature type was mostly just a placeholder, and now that I'm settling on the flavor I'm looking for a better subtype. The flavor is that they're spawned from human emotion, like faith, hope, or devotion for the enchantments, or passion or creativity for the artifacts. I scrolled through the creature types, but none really stuck out to me as a solid fit. The best I could come up with was spirit, but I figured I'd ask for ideas before committing to changing every instance of the Elemental type. I could even go with a totally new subtype, but I couldn't think of any good names.

MAN i need to learn soldering properly i took computer tech for like 3 years in highschool but we learned to get rid of flux residue by going at the pcbs with a barbecue wire brush which makes every electronics nerd i know physically recoil to think about which is very funny but also. maybe i should. learn to use a solvent
