it’s stupid late. like 2:43am late. the kitchen’s dark except for the fridge light and the glow from your situationship phone screen, playing a random song that you had suggested him to listen to. you’re perched on the counter, legs swinging, wearing his hoodie and nothing else, and he’s standing between your knees with a slice of leftover birthday cake balanced on a plate in one hand and a fork in the other.

"open up, baby," gojo says, waving the fork near your face as if he was the one feeding a toddler. "here comes the airplane—"

you swat at him half heartedly but open your mouth anyway, letting him feed you. "you’re so dramatic," you mumble through the cake.

"i’m romantic," he corrects, licking the frosting off his thumb. "there’s a difference."

gojo's hair’s a mess, white strands fluffed up and sticking everywhere from sleep, but he still looks ridiculously sweet. like pretty boy sweet. like maybe i’d let you ruin my life sweet. and he’s shirtless, just soft skin, warm from sleep, and low sweatpants that are hanging on for dear life.

he’s all sleepy grins and sleepy eyes and god, he’s not even trying :(

"you’re staring," he teases.

"i’m thinking," you say, deadpan.

"that's scary," he hums. "wanna kiss to stop it?"

you don’t answer. just tilt your chin up, expectant, and he leans in slowly, until he’s kissing you with cake sweet lips and smiling into it.

he pulls back just a little, presses his forehead to yours, and breathes you in. "you," he says softly, "are the best thing that’s ever happened to my insomnia."

you roll your eyes, smiling softly. "you’re so corny."

"and yet," he steals another kiss, pecking quickly, "you still wanna make out with me on a counter at 2am."

Look I don’t care how implausible it is, I don’t care how ridiculous it is. Dick is eight years old when he becomes Robin. It’s the funniest fuckin thing and I refuse to ever make him older than eight when he bullies a grown ass Bruce into letting him go out at night with him.

Does Bruce take him on kiddie runs until he’s a little older? Maybe. Does Batman stand menacingly behind a brightly colored little bird to threaten the goons while Robin can’t see him? You know he does.

But Robin is still actually terrifying when he first appears on the scene, because he’s a teeny tiny fluttery little thing that does cartwheels and handstands and makes puns then launches himself full force to kick a man in the nose and then cackles when he bleeds. His laughter makes goons shiver, they hear it bouncing around warehouses and half of them bolt, because they learn very quickly what happens when a feral Robin appears.

The Gotham rogues all immediately have beef with a literal third grader because he took the bats attention away and also because he’s roundhouse kicked them all in the shins at some point and that shit hurt like hell, and then he laughed in their faces while making a pun about their villain name.

Majority of the rogues everywhere hate Nightwing because they all know he used to be the feral child that they all thought Batman should have put on a leash, half of them have been straight up bitten by him before he lost all his baby teeth, and they’re all so bitter about the fact that they’ve been beaten by an actual elementary school student. And now he’s all grown up? He’s fucking terrifying.

Just be aware that a bill has been introduced in Oklahoma’s state senate (SB 593) that would make writing/publishing/owning an explicit romance book a felony.

So, when you come on here to espouse your “anti pro-ship” nonsense, or moan about how hard it is to find fics/art/books that aren’t “smutty” — know that this is the effect. You are being used as mouthpieces to help feed and perpetuate censorship. There is no room for censorship in fiction because it will never stop at what you deem morally “right”. It is about control and the restriction of speech. Your discomfort with sex in media does not make it wrong, and it certainly doesn’t mean you get to advocate for its restriction.

Do not be pawns in the far-right’s game. Do not call yourselves allys of any kind if you are willingly feeding into a pillar of far right extremism. It will not stop where you think it “should.”
