Saw some discourse on tiktok that was along the lines of "mating bonds are so special hence breaking it would be a social dilemma for Elain and hence forbidden relationship"

And that made me realise how far people have come from the canon plot in these 4 years.

Canonical Rhys told us how Mating bonds can be broken and have been broken before, it's just that the male mates who suffer and might even go mad. But it's not a social situation😭😭 and the blood duel is only an autumn court tradition and the Night court has Outlawed it.

That means females are free to break bonds here and have before, Elain will literally be supported by EVERYONE if she chooses to reject it INCLUDING HER MATE Lucien, mating bonds isn't a social dilemma like wing clipping or the treatment of females in Illyria. Why are they trying to make up issues that aren't even real. SJM has shown us how rejecting bonds is okay but still Elain doesn't reject it.

There is yearning and tension in elucien and these guys still out here creating headcanon plots and fighting tooth and nail to show them as canon but will ignore and disregard any canon plot.

I keep seeing E/riels bring up the "pliable bones theory" every other week. Yes, I agree it's gross and misogynistic. But who is saying it? People on Tiktok or Twitter? Because I definitely haven't seen any Gwynriels on here mention it recently.

New people join the fandom all the time and occasionally someone will bring it up but posts like that are always shut down quickly by the rest of us
