बुधवार तड़के सुबह आगरा-लखनऊ एक्सप्रेसवे पर हुए एक भीषण सड़क हादसे में सैफई मेडिकल यूनिवर्सिटी के पांच युवा डॉक्टरों की जान चली गई। स्कॉर्पियो कार में सवार इन डॉक्टरों की गाड़ी डिवाइडर को तोड़ते हुए दूसरी लेन में चली गई, ज��ां वह एक तेज़ रफ्तार ट्रक से टकरा गई। हादसा इतना भयंकर था कि कार के परखच्चे उड़ गए और मौके पर ही पांचों डॉक्टरों की मौत हो गई। कार में सवार एक अन्य व्यक्ति गंभीर रूप से घायल हो गया, जिसे अस्पताल में भर्ती कराया गया है। कैसे हुआ हादसा? पुलिस के अनुसार, यह हादसा सुबह करीब तीन बजे कन्नौज जिले की सीमा में हुआ। स्कॉर्पियो लखनऊ की ओर से आ रही थी जब वह अचानक डिवाइडर पार कर आगरा जाने वाली लेन में पहुंच गई। इसी दौरान एक तेज़ गति से आते ट्रक ने उसे टक्कर मार दी। टक्कर के बाद स्कॉर्पियो बुरी तरह क्षतिग्रस्त हो गई। मृतकों की पहचान हादसे में मारे गए डॉक्टरों में से चार की पहचान हो चुकी है: - डॉ. अनिरुद्ध वर्मा: आगरा के राधा विहार एक्सटेंशन, कमला नगर निवासी और पवन कुमार वर्मा के बेटे। - डॉ. नरदेव गंगवार: बरेली जिले के नवाबगंज निवासी और लखन सिंह गंगवार के बेटे। - डॉ. अरुण कुमार: कन्नौज के मोतीपुर निवासी और अंगद लाल के बेटे। - डॉ. संतोष मौर्य: संत रविदास नगर (भदोही) निवासी और जीत नारायण मौर्य के बेटे। पांचवें मृतक की शिनाख्त की जा रही है। एक घायल व्यक्ति की स्थिति गंभीर स्कार्पियो में सवार मुरादाबाद निवासी जयवीर सिंह गंभीर रूप से घायल हो गए। उन्हें तुरंत अस्पताल ले जाया गया, जहां उनकी हालत चिंताजनक बनी हुई है। घटनास्थल पर मातम हादसे की सूचना पाकर सैफई मेडिकल यूनिवर्सिटी के वरिष्ठ अधिकारी, मेडिकल स्टूडेंट्स और जूनियर डॉक्टर बड़ी संख्या में घटनास्थल पर पहुंचे। पूरे माहौल में गम और सन्नाटा पसरा रहा। डॉक्टरों और स्टाफ ने मृतकों के परिजनों के प्रति गहरी संवेदना व्यक्त की। पुलिस की प्रारंभिक जांच कन्नौज पुलिस ने आशंका जताई है कि स्कॉर्पियो के ड्राइवर को झपकी आने के कारण यह हादसा हुआ। पुलिस ने क्षतिग्रस्त वाहन से शवों को निकालकर पोस्टमार्टम के लिए भेज दिया है। साथ ही मृतकों के परिजनों को सूचित कर दिया गया है। सड़क सुरक्षा पर सवाल सड़क सुरक्षा कार्यकर्ता के. सी. जैन ने इस घटना पर अपनी चिंता व्यक्त की। उन्होंने कहा, “यह हादसा हमारी सड़क सुरक्षा प्रणाली की गंभीर खामियों को उजागर करता है। एक्सप्रेसवे जैसे महत्वपूर्ण बुनियादी ��ांचे पर सुरक्षा मानकों को मजबूत करना अनिवार्य है। बेहतर ट्रैफिक मॉनिटरिंग और ड्राइवरों के लिए विश्राम स्थलों की व्यवस्था जैसी योजनाएं लागू की जानी चाहिए।” आगरा-लखनऊ एक्सप्रेसवे पर हुई इस दर्दनाक दुर्घटना ने सड़क सुरक्षा को लेकर फिर से सवाल खड़े कर दिए हैं। यह हादसा उन सभी एजेंसियों के लिए एक चेतावनी है, जो एक्सप्रेसवे की ��ेखरेख और प्रबंधन के लिए जिम्मेदार हैं। यह सुनिश्चित करना आवश्यक है कि ऐसी घटनाएं दोबारा न हों, और इसके लिए सामूहिक प्रयास किए जाने की आवश्यकता है।   Read the full article

Distributed Acoustic Sensing: The Future of Downhole Monitoring

Distributed Acoustic Sensing is an optical fiber sensing technique that uses fiber optic cables to detect and record acoustic and seismic signals along extended distances. Standard DAS arrays can continuously monitor signals over distances of 10-100 km with resolutions as fine as 1 meter. Specialty this systems can monitor over distances greater than 100 km.
How Does it Work?
Distributed Acoustic Sensing works by detecting acoustic or seismic signals that interact with the fiber optic cable. Standard telecommunications optical fibers are used, with no special components required within the fiber itself. Laser pulses are sent down the fiber and any signal that mechanically perturbs the fiber will cause some of the backscattered light to change wavelength via the Brillouin effect. This change is measured and provides information about the location and nature of the acoustic signal. By timing the return signal, the system can accurately locate acoustic events to within centimeters over the entire length of the fiber.
Applications for Downhole Monitoring
One of the most promising applications for Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) is in downhole monitoring during oil and gas operations. Standard techniques like tubing-deployed monitoring tools provide point measurements but are unable to continuously monitor zones between sensor locations. It offers the potential to monitor acoustic signals along the entire length of production or injection wells. This opens up possibilities like:
- Flow profiling to detect zones of higher or lower flow along horizontal wellbores. Pinpointing fluid movement across fractures or between reservoir layers.
- Completion diagnostics to locate failed zones, casing leaks or other problems without pulling tools in and out of the well. Real-time monitoring avoids unnecessary workovers.
- Hydraulic fracturing monitoring to observe fracture propagation in unprecedented detail. It can detect the exact location and timing of perforation shots from multi-stage fracs to optimize treatment.
- Production monitoring to detect downhole fluid problems like sand ingress or water breakthrough earlier. Real-time zonal isolation monitoring avoids premature well shut-ins or abandonment.
Challenges for Downhole Deployment
While it shows tremendous promise for downhole monitoring applications, several technical challenges must still be addressed for reliable long-term deployment down wellbores:
- Temperature effects - Standard telecom fibers exhibit significant signal attenuation above around 80°C which limits applications to shallower wells or those with significant cooling. Ruggedized high-temperature fibers are being developed and tested.
- Fiber protection - Downhole fibers must withstand abrasive fluids, sand production, production tubing movement and other hazards. Robust protective coatings and housings are an active area of research to provide sufficient buffering.
- Deployment reliability - Repeated deployment of Distributed Acoustic Sensing cables downhole without damage requires further refinement of deployment tools and techniques. Improved reliability avoids unnecessary operational costs.
- Power supply – Downhole sensors require reliable long-term power, usually supplied topside via the fiber optic cable itself. High temperatures and rugged deployment impact power delivery abilities.
Overcoming these challenges is an area of active industry R&D with progress continually being made. As reliability improves, it promises to transform downhole monitoring capabilities.
Permanent Reservoir Monitoring Applications
In addition to deployments during discrete operations like hydraulic fracturing treatments, permanent reservoir monitoring (PRM) use cases provide some of the most exciting potential applications for Distributed Acoustic Sensing technology:
- Long-term zonal isolation - Continuously monitor for fluid migration or casing issues for early remediation to avoid premature reservoir compartmentalization.
- Water/gas coning detection - Detect upward fluid fronts earlier to optimize production strategies before detrimental water/gas breakthrough.
- Compartmentalized reservoir management - Optimize production across disparate zones within the same reservoir by continually profiling inter-zonal flow behaviors.
- 4D seismic correlation - Directly correlating time-lapse 4D seismic surveys with downhole fluid fronts encountered by DAS arrays to rapidly refine subsurface models.
- Borehole stability monitoring - Detect microseismicity, casing strains or fractures for zonal integrity assurance over decades-long field lifetimes. Avoid costly workovers.
The ability to continually monitor entire wellbores for decades enables unprecedented reservoir insight to maximize recovery. As technical issues are solved, PRM using it will drive major efficiency gains across mature fields globally.
Distributed acoustic sensing using fiber optic cables represents a disruptive new monitoring paradigm. Moving away from discrete downhole sensors towards continuum sensing unlocks capabilities never before possible. With continued progress,it  will profoundly impact how subsurface operations are planned, executed and optimized. Permanent reservoir and long-term zonal isolation monitoring promise to drive step-changes in efficient, cost-effective oilfield management. It is truly the future of downhole monitoring and reservoir insight.

Wlan Roaming auch zuhause
Ich wohne in Stahlbeton, und obwohl das Haus erst 2015 gebaut wurde, gibt es keine strukturierte Verkabelung für Ethernet, sondern TAE-Dosen in jedem Raum (das TT berichtete). Wlan und Stahlbeton sind keine guten Freunde – lösen konnte ich das Problem der Wlan-Verfügbarkeit in der ganzen Wohnung letztlich nur über mehrere Accesspoints (AP), die teilweise über Netzwerk-über-Stromleitung mit dem eigentlichen Router verbunden waren und jeweils die gleiche Wlan-Kennung im 2,4 bzw. 5GHz Netz verwendeten.
Dadurch entsteht ein neues Problem: Geräte, die sich erstmal mit einem Wlan-AP verbunden haben, verlassen diesen nicht mehr, auch wenn APs mit besserer Erreichbarkeit sichtbar sind. Das entsprechende Protokoll ist einfach kaputt, Roaming und mobile Geräte waren damals nicht als typische Nutzung erkennbar und wurden damit auch nicht vorgesehen.
In großen Installationen mit mehreren APs löst man das auf mehreren Wegen, z.B. in dem man sehr viele APs mit sehr geringer Leistung verwendet und dadurch meist nur ein AP sichtbar ist – mit entsprechenden Nachteilen, oder (und besser) mit einem Controller, der alle AP verwaltet und sehen kann, welcher AP welche Geräte wie gut sieht und auch wie viele Verbindungen dieser gerade hält. Der Controller entscheidet dann zugunsten der Clients, aktiv gegen das Protokoll zu verstoßen und diese von schlecht erreichbaren oder überfüllten APs zu kicken – damit verbinden sich diese automatisch neu, meistens mit dann einem anderen, netztechnisch günstigeren AP. Dieses Verhalten ist für den Benutzer transparent, stört also nicht.
Meine APs haben keinen Controller, deswegen wird die Verbindung, wenn man sich in der Wohnung bewegt, viel schlechter, aber nicht schlecht genug, damit sich Geräte von alleine auf dem anderen AP einbuchen. Auf Dauer nervt das ziemlich.
Seit einiger Zeit gibt es Wlan-APs für den Heimgebrauch, die aktiv miteinander kommunizieren, dies auch über eine (extra) Wlan-Verbindung beherrschen (ein sogenanntes Mesh-Netz, wie es z.B. auch Freifunk-Nodes verwenden, um sich direkt per Funk miteinander zu verbinden). Über dieses Meshnetz wird nicht nur intern zwischen den APs kommuniziert, sondern eben auch Nutzverkehr geleitet – damit braucht nur noch ein AP eine kabelgebundene Anbindung an das restliche (Inter)netz.
Mich interessiert wegen meiner Stahlbetonhöhle mehr die Möglichkeit, gemeinsam aktiv gegen das oben erklärte Protokollverhalten der Clients zu verstoßen, als die Knoten-Kommunikation über Funk, aber das gibts gratis dazu und ist wohl für die meisten Käufer der viel wichtigere, aktiv beworbene Punkt. Damit kann man eben einen (zusätzlichen) AP dort aufstellen, wo der AP am Internetanschluss gerade so nicht mehr hinkommt und damit als Repeater arbeitet, ohne eine eigene kabelgebundene Anbindung zu brauchen.
Ich habe mir die Wlan-Nupfis von Google gekauft (sowas gibts auch von anderen Firmen, siehe z.B. Vergleiche in diesem oder diesem Review). Der Preis erscheint erstmal teuer, ist auch viel teurer als einfach zwei noname AP, aber die hatte ich ja vorher und das war für die Bewohner nicht befriedigend.
Hier gibt es einige Geräte, die aus verschieden Gründen nur 2,4 GHz und nur verschlüsselte Netze können, sowie einige, die gar kein Wlan haben. Das zusammen mit wenigen physischen Netzwerkports erforderte eine Bestandsaufnahme:

Die Google-Hardware hat ein paar Einschränkungen, die aus meiner Sicht aber vor allem Freaks betreffen, die zuhause noch 2 DMZ und stark segmentierte Netze betreiben wollen (alle anderen, die denken, sie seien keine Netzwerkfreaks, können die Auflistung getrost überlesen).

jeder Nupfi hat nur zwei Ethernet-Interfaces
der Master-Nupfi kann nicht als Modem, sondern nur Router arbeiten – ein Kabel- oder DSL-Modem muss also davor in Betrieb bleiben, und am besten in den Bridge-Modus geschaltet werden, wenn man nicht Double-NAT machen möchte (damit kann ich allerdings seit Jahren gut leben)
Die Einrichtung ist wirklich simpel, kann allerdings nur über eine App (iOS, Android), nicht über einen Webbrowser vorgenommen werden. Entgegen meiner Befürchtungen sehen sich die Nupfis auch durch die Stahlbetonwände gut – trotzdem lasse ich als Backbone die Stromleitung bestehen, auch weil mir dadurch mehr Ethernetports zur Verfügung stehen.
Kurze Verwirrung am ersten Betriebsabend gibt es doch, weil sich beide Nupfis erst in Ruhe auf das aktuelle Patchlevel hocharbeiten und dadurch genau der gleiche Effekt wie vorher auftritt: Das Netz ist plötzlich scheiße.
Google hält sich mit den zusätzlichen Möglichkeiten der Nupfis offiziell sehr zurück, dass z.B. das Backbone auch über Draht erstellt werden kann, muss im passenden Produktforum gesucht werden, ebenso, wie man an Debug-Infos kommt (http://192.168.86.1/api/v1/diagnostic-report) und andere Dinge.
Insgesamt funktonieren die Nupfis erwartungsgemäß und unauffällig – wir können uns mit einem Wlan-Gerät durch die Wohnung bewegen und haben konstant Netz. Auf dem Mac kann ich sehen, dass dabei munter zwischen 2,4 und 5 GHz und den Kanälen gewechselt wird – so wie es die Nupfis gerade für das Beste halten - inzwischen bin ich aber nicht mehr so neugierig und nehme einfach hin, dass es funktioniert.
Es gibt noch ein paar Zusatzfeatures – z.B. eine Wlan-Bremse für die Geräte der zum Haushalt gehörenden Pubertiere, Trafficmonitor, Priorisierung von einzelnen Geräten und ähnliches – brauche ich alles nicht, kann deswegen dazu auch wenig schreiben.
