Model Brick Kiln.
One of the many wonderful opportunities we had this year in our districts, thanks to our amazing LBSNAA Director, was a visit to and study of Brick Kilns. These kilns are more often than not dens of exploitation with little to zero facilities for the workers, with workers unaware of their rights and living in conditions which can’t be justified & could never ensure a dignified living. In my visit, I saw no less, there was no provision of clean drinking water, no fan or lighting in the shambles of a quarter they were living in, no papers on the workers, not enrolled in any scheme, be it insurance or anything, most of them were not even willing to tell us what they were getting as salary.
Thus, we developed an actionable 10 points agenda to improve their status of living. These 10 points were:
1- To provide them and help them get documents like Aadhar, Voter ID etc
2- Making provision of clean drinking water, arsenic free & iron free at the brick kiln.
3- Installation of solar lights at their homes.
4- Enrolling them in govt schemes and Providing them health insurance of the govt.
5- Enrolling their kids in schools and getting them scholarship or stipend if eligible.
6- Building Community Toilets with water facility.
7- Getting kids 0-6 to go to ICDS centres.
8- Building a small play area for kids of the workers.
9- Ensuring minimum wages and payment in their bank accounts, which most of them didn’t have, so getting them opened.
10- First Aid kits made available at the kilns.
Out of these 10 points, most of them have been made available and work on the rest is going on and shall be made available by the time my district training ends. This is one project very close to my heart. Hope this will be replicated. The wonders this service empowers you to create are endless. Grateful!

I picked up this issue of @runnersworldmag and it turns out it was the British edition. No matter. Read most of it, pulled out inspiration from #turiapitt , exercises to strengthen my #calves , decluttering my #trainingdiary , and cleaning up my fridge. Now I can recycle the magazine and work on the stuff I pulled from the magazine. Getting more and more excited for a #healthyfuture for my #over50 life. Escogí esta copia de @runnersworldmag y resultó ser la versión Britannica. No importa. Leí la mayoría y arranqué inspiración de #turiapitt , ejercisios para tonificar mis #batatas , organizar mi #rutinadeentrenamiento y limpiar la nevera. Ahora a reciclar la revista y trabajar con los artículos seleccionados.

Todays training (2013/4/26) 金
I finally have the men feeling! And I have pain in the right place (left hand just a little bit under the center of the palm) and Im just so happy!
I also got a call while I did the training that I can pickup my men tomorrow! Im also now officially preparing for the first dan exam! (Im so scared about the writing part..can anyone maybe tell me what I have to write about?)
What I learned today?
Theres good pain and theres bad pain. The good pain will hurt but you feel a lot better after you went through it.And you also know that it may hurt but its worth it. Well the bad pain just hurts because you wont achieve anything and dont get anything out of it I think?
Also that I should strike stronger because this shows more strenghts and is good for my breathing.
What I should work on:
not getting completely exhausted after just 3 rounds of kirikaeshi without bogu
my kiai was pretty shitty today
to stop the sword at the right moment
to use my left hand more
to have it shaped like a little curve when I hold the shinai
keeping focused
Is thereanything else..? After the training I went eating indian curry again and it was great as always. Im also finally closing with all this senpai shit!
Im getting better!
