yeah we love fucked up characters and plots, the part I don't like is when we "forget" (or chose to ignore) a huge piece of information in order to pretend it's less than it is, and I'm talking ab Ellen calling for a guardian angel and being met with a centuries old dark magic fueled aristocrat who had no business answering the call for a fucking angel and then gaslights her and everyone into thinking she called for him specifically. LIKE if we're talking ab how twisted Eggers' Orlok is, let's talk about the details here

What's the worse thing that Zlako has ever encountered in the warp?

I have spent waaaay too long rotating this question in my head (which is why I'm answering it so late, apologies). At the time, I'd just been reading a part in the book I'm in where Guardsmen witness a daemon (here's a short bit of it) and it really highlighted the sheer, mind-altering fear and made me think what kind of things would inspire the same - but it also made it hard to settle on a single, worst thing. I think when warp-translating, you see a lot of shit. Things that are horrifying, gross, things that are deeply personal. Not things you keep a running list of but rather try to forget as soon as you can. So: If you'd ask him (and could get a honest answer out of him) it was never one, big thing. In fact it would be a few, long translations.

It's terror as a constant. Wears you out. Grinds you down.

You startle awake in the morning from dreams that feel too much like a memory and a prophecy all at once, none of them good. You sit, panting, covered in sweat and try to find some of the relief of waking, but it's short lived when the air tastes like static and in the corners of your vision you see symbols on the wall. And you get up because you know they will be gone by the time you've blinked. You shave without looking in the mirror. Your head hurts. Your eye hurts. The back of your throat tastes like bile and the water coming out of the sink a little too metallic.

Sleep isn't restful when you see what you see, so you sleep as little as you can. Guard food is bland as is, and its loses its taste day by day. You're young, haven't done this often enough to get used to it and you question how you ever could. Morale is terrible and you can't fathom how it couldn't be. Every day there's a new fight because every day someone goes mad. Sometimes they snap out of it, sometimes they don't, sometimes they face the barrel or the wall instead, sometimes they take others with them.

So you put on your coat and your cap and tell everyone you need to, same tired eyes that have seen the same things, that it's not real, to keep up their prayers, something about taking up the fight against the Archenemy not with their bodies but their minds. You cannot doubt, or at least you cannot admit to yourself that you do. That's how it gets in. Don't entertain the thought that it already could be.

A month, they say, but that's factoring in the Emperor's grace and it seems he currently isn't looking. The warp is temperamental. Could be long, could be longer. You have to find a way to make that palatable to the men. And you kind of wonder if it's one of the things that crawl out of the walls or waver before the ship's windows will get you one day, or if you, too, will go mad and put a gun to yourself before that happens. Until then, you'll do your rounds.

TLDR: I like connecting different series/worlds. It's one of my favourite things to do, so here's a lil AU where the French members of the QSMP were present during the Eggpire before ending up on the island! :D

Étoiles got sick quickly and was among the first to join the Eggpire. During the red banquet, he was the security guard and stopped people from leaving it. Further, he was also in charge of stopping people from removing the blood vines from the world (which ofc he did by fighting them to the death).

Antoine discovered after a while that he was one of few with full immunity, which gladly made use of by inconveniencing Étoiles whenever he could (thanks to him, Q, Techno and Purple could get into the banquet without being spotted by anyone). He was also a part of the pro-omelette movement.

Pierre was on holiday when the world went to shit and came back right before the banquet started. He decided that it wasn't his business and spent most of his time underground building machines. He helped Antoine clean up the blood vines once but then got attacked by Étoiles and decided that he'd rather not get involved. That encounter did cause him to also get infected, so he locked himself up in a bunker until it all blew over.

(I don't have anything for Baghera or Kameto but ideas are always welcome <3)

small update! much less sick now, fully on the mend. the comic's literally 3/4 done but I will not be posting it (along with all the other s&co stuff Ive been doodling) this week, in accordance with the global strike. I'll be finishing up and rounding out the rest of the e-sim donation comms instead, as well as highlighting similar drives and other fundraising efforts. thank you for your time

Out of universe: Lily’s letter is in Sirius’s room so that Harry can read it with no thought behind why it was in a room Sirius hadn’t set foot in since he was 16, way before Lily would’ve written the letter

In universe: Sirius kept that letter in Azkaban and brought it with him when he escaped and somehow never lost it, his personal belongings were sent to his family after his arrest and they never got rid of them even though they never thought they’d see Sirius again, his family or an Order member went and gathered up all of Sirius’s stuff from wherever the belongings of dangerous criminals are kept (and if it’s the Order that did it, they got it after he escaped Azkaban, so I guess the Ministry or whoever keeps convicted criminal’s stuff over a decade after they’re arrested), Sirius himself went and got the letter even though he was a wanted felon, and presumably some other reasons as well.

oooh i entirely forgot that harry found it much later 💀 it’s v likely sirius could’ve gotten that letter (and his other belongings) from somewhere and kept it in GP himself. i still like the thought of him carrying it w himself always tho hehe just bc it’s utterly heartbreaking.
