How Adani Vizhinjam Port Will Revolutionize India's Logistics Industry for Future Exports and Imports
India, with its vast coastline, has always had a strategic advantage in maritime trade. The advent of the Adani Vizhinjam Port marks a significant milestone in harnessing this potential to its fullest. Scheduled to receive its first mothership on July 12, Vizhinjam Port is set to become India's first exclusive trans-shipment port. But its impact extends far beyond that, promising to revolutionize India's logistics industry and enhance the nation's capabilities in global trade. Here’s how Adani Vizhinjam Port will play a pivotal role in the future of exporting and importing goods for India.
1.Vizhinjam Port Welcomes First Mothership 'San Fernando'
In a historic event, Adani Group's Vizhinjam Port, located near Kovalam Beach in Kerala, welcomed its first mothership, 'San Fernando', on July 12. This vessel, carrying over 2,000 containers, signifies the operational commencement of India's first trans-shipment port. The arrival of 'San Fernando' marks a new chapter in India's maritime trade, showcasing the port's capability to handle large-scale cargo and setting the stage for its future growth.
Features of the Mothership 'San Fernando':
Capacity: Over 2,000 containers.
Size: One of the largest container ships to dock at an Indian port.
Impact: Demonstrates Vizhinjam's ability to handle substantial cargo volumes, enhancing India's logistics efficiency.
San Fernando, a 300-meter-long cargo ship, will offload 1,900 containers at VISL on Friday. The container ship, 'San Fernando', from China, berthed at Kerala's Vizhinjam International Seaport Limited (VISL), marks the first arrival of such a vessel at India's largest transhipment port. The mothership, 'San Fernando', is transporting large containers that will be redistributed to other vessels for delivery to various ports within the country and internationally. The inaugural event is set to witness the presence of prominent figures, including Union Shipping Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, along with central and state ministers, officials, and the public. Vizhinjam Port, featuring state-of-the-art equipment and advanced automation and IT systems, is on track to become India’s first semi-automated port, with full commissioning anticipated by September or October 2024.
2. Strategic Advantages of Vizhinjam Port
1. Natural Draft of 18 Meters
One of the most significant features of Vizhinjam Port is its natural draft of 18 meters. This allows it to accommodate some of the largest container ships in the world, which many other ports cannot handle due to their limited depth. By enabling the docking of large vessels, Vizhinjam Port can facilitate the efficient handling of a higher volume of cargo, reducing transit times and costs.
2. Strategic Location
Located just 10 nautical miles from the International Shipping Route connecting Europe, the Persian Gulf, and the Far East, Vizhinjam Port is perfectly positioned to serve as a major hub for maritime trade. This prime location ensures that it can attract substantial trans-shipment traffic, significantly boosting India's connectivity with key global markets.
3.Port Specialities
1. State-of-the-Art Infrastructure
Vizhinjam Port boasts cutting-edge infrastructure, including modern cargo handling equipment, advanced storage facilities, and automated systems for efficient port operations. These facilities ensure that the port can handle diverse cargo types with precision and speed.
2. Comprehensive Security Measures
Security is a top priority at Vizhinjam Port. The port is equipped with advanced surveillance systems, stringent access control, and regular security audits to ensure the safety of cargo and personnel. These measures protect against theft, damage, and other security risks, giving exporters and importers peace of mind.
3. Sustainable Operations
Adani Vizhinjam Port is committed to sustainable and eco-friendly operations. The port incorporates green technologies and practices to minimize its environmental impact. These initiatives include energy-efficient equipment, waste management systems, and measures to protect the local marine ecosystem.
4. Seamless Connectivity
The port is well-connected by road and rail, facilitating easy access to and from the hinterland. This seamless connectivity ensures that cargo can be transported efficiently to and from the port, reducing delays and optimizing the logistics process.
4.Boosting Economic Prospects
1. Enhancing Trade Efficiency
The Vizhinjam Port's ability to handle large container ships directly translates to increased trade efficiency. With fewer restrictions on ship sizes, the port can manage more cargo in a single shipment. This reduces the number of trips required and consequently lowers shipping costs. These savings can be passed on to exporters and importers, making Indian goods more competitive in the global market.
2. Reducing Congestion at Other Ports
By diverting some of the cargo traffic to Vizhinjam, other major ports in India, such as Mumbai, Chennai, and Kolkata, can experience reduced congestion. This decongestion can lead to faster processing times and improved efficiency at these ports, benefiting the overall logistics network of the country.
5.Strengthening India's Position in Global Trade
1. Facilitating Trans-Shipment
As an exclusive trans-shipment port, Vizhinjam can handle the transfer of containers from one ship to another. This capability is crucial for India to become a significant player in global logistics. By serving as a trans-shipment hub, Vizhinjam can attract international shipping lines, boosting India’s status as a pivotal node in the global supply chain.
2. Supporting Export Growth
With its enhanced capacity and strategic location, Vizhinjam Port can support the growth of India's exports. The port's efficient handling and processing capabilities mean that Indian exporters can reach international markets more quickly and at a lower cost. This efficiency can lead to increased export volumes, helping to drive economic growth and development.
3. Import Benefits
For importers, the Vizhinjam Port offers similar advantages. Reduced shipping times and costs can lower the overall cost of imported goods. Additionally, the port's state-of-the-art facilities ensure that goods are handled with care, reducing the risk of damage and loss. This reliability can encourage more businesses to engage in import activities, fostering economic diversification.
6.Modern Infrastructure and Technology
1. Advanced Facilities
Adani Vizhinjam Port is equipped with cutting-edge infrastructure, including advanced cargo handling equipment and state-of-the-art storage facilities. These modern amenities ensure that the port can handle a diverse range of cargo types efficiently, from bulk goods to specialized shipments such as refrigerated containers.
2. Digital Integration
The port's operations are seamlessly integrated with digital technologies, enhancing its efficiency and reliability. Advanced logistics software and planning tools help optimize routes and schedules, reducing delays and improving the overall logistics process. This digital integration ensures that Vizhinjam Port can meet the demands of modern global trade.
7.Economic Impact on the Region
1. Job Creation
The development of Vizhinjam Port is set to create numerous job opportunities in the region. From direct employment in port operations to indirect jobs in related industries such as transportation, warehousing, and logistics, the port's operations will contribute significantly to regional economic development.
2. Infrastructure Development
The establishment of Vizhinjam Port will likely spur further infrastructure development in the surrounding areas. Improved road and rail connectivity, enhanced industrial zones, and better urban infrastructure are some of the expected developments. These improvements can attract additional investments and stimulate economic growth in the region.
Conclusion
The Adani Vizhinjam Port represents a transformative development in India's logistics landscape. With its ability to handle the largest container ships, strategic location, and state-of-the-art facilities, the port is poised to become a major hub for maritime trade. By enhancing trade efficiency, reducing congestion at other ports, and strengthening India's position in global trade, Vizhinjam Port is set to play a crucial role in the future of exporting and importing goods for India. As the port gears up to receive its first mothership, 'San Fernando', the future looks promising for India's logistics industry and its integration into the global supply chain.

Maldives Emerges as a Strategic Transshipment Hub with 300% Surge in Sea-to-Air Cargo Operations
The Maldives is fast gaining momentum as a key logistics hub in the Indian Ocean, with Velana International Airport (VIA) recording a 300% increase in sea-to-air cargo transshipment in just under a year. This rapid growth highlights the country’s strategic potential in global cargo movement and logistics. The surge follows the launch of a hybrid Sea-to-Air Cargo Transshipment service by Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) in partnership with Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) in March 2023. The initiative was developed to integrate sea and air freight capabilities, providing a streamlined and efficient transport solution for regional and international trade. Speaking on PSM’s Raajje Miadhu programme as part of MACL’s 59th anniversary celebrations, Mahmoodha Shareef, Senior General Manager overseeing the Aerodrome and Cargo Departments, emphasized that the expansion was made possible by relocating import and export operations to a newly developed cargo terminal. This upgrade tripled the handling capacity and allowed the airport to scale up its services to meet rising demand. Mahmoodha noted that the Maldives holds a geographically advantageous position, enabling it to receive maritime cargo from regional ports such as Colombo and Chattogram and re-export them by air, particularly to Europe. “Unlike many of our neighboring countries, we meet European Union cargo operation standards, which gives us direct access to European markets,” she said. The new terminal, purpose-built for cargo handling, has enabled MACL to offer a comprehensive range of international-standard services. With a dozen leading international airlines now facilitating transshipment through this system, the Maldives is steadily transforming into a preferred logistics gateway between Asia and Europe. MACL anticipates further growth in the sector, driven by increased demand for efficient multimodal freight solutions and the country’s continued investment in cargo infrastructure. The Maldives’ growing reputation as a transit hub not only enhances its economic landscape but also underscores its commitment to innovation and connectivity in global trade. For foreign investors and visitors alike, this milestone reflects the Maldives’ expanding role in regional development, beyond its world-renowned natural beauty and tourism offerings. Can confirm as someone from the shipping industry - Belgium, Antwerp specifically, is a VERY common stopping point for routes going to Israel. So this is very good

"Refusal to handle military equipment for war in Palestine
While a genocide is underway in Palestine, workers at the various airports in Belgium are seeing weapons headed for war zones.
The loading and unloading of these weapons enables the resupplying of organizations killing innocent people.
We, the different unions active in the ground handling sector, call on our members not to handle flights that ship military material to Palestine/Israel as there were also clear agreements and rules at the start of the conflict with Russia and Ukraine.
We call for an immediate ceasefire and ask the Belgian governments to be consistent and not to tolerate arms shipments through Belgian airports. As unions, we declare our solidarity with those who are taking action for peace.
The common trade union front"
#Palestine#granted none of my customers ship arms but#man have i seen antwerp rotterdam and a few Italian ports as the transshipment stops for ships destined for Israel#a whole fucking lot

Mystery of the 1627 Knight’s Tomb in Jamestown Virginia Solved
Archaeologists have solved the centuries-old mystery behind the oldest known tombstone in the United States carrying an English knight, illuminating in the process the complexities of ancient trade routes.
According to a new study, the tombstone likely came from Belgium and was erected in 1627 in Jamestown, Virginia, the first permanent English settlement in what became the United States. The authors of the study, published in the International Journal of Historical Archaeology, analyzed the carvings and inlays of the structure to determine its country of origin. Some mystery persists; they have yet to determine where exactly in Europe the black limestone slab of the tombstone originated.
Fragments of the tombstone contained fossil microbes, many of where not native to North America. These microbe fossils, however, were found in present-day Belgium and Ireland.
“Therefore, the knight’s tombstone had to be imported from Europe. Historical evidence suggests Belgium, from where it was transshipped in London and on to Jamestown,” the scientists stated, as first quoted in the Independent.
They continued: “We hypothesize it was quarried and cut to size in Belgium, shipped down the Meuse River, across the English Channel to London where it was carved and the brass inlays installed, and finally shipped on to Jamestown.”

A carved depression in the container suggests the presence of brass inlays of a shield, an open scroll, and the likeness of an armored man. According to surviving historical records, two knights died in the colony in the 17th century: Sir Thomas West (died 1618) and Sir George Yeardley, the latter of whom is a promising candidate for the anonymous knight. Sir Yeardley’s step-grandson purchased a tombstone for himself in the 1680s bearing an identical inscription as the 1627 black limestone one.
The senior Yeardley was born in Southwark, England, in 1588 and landed in Jamestown in 1610 following a shipwreck near Bermuda. He was knighted by King James I after returning to England in 1617. But the sea beckoned and he returned to Jamestown in 1621, where he died in 1627.
“Successful Virginia colonists who had lived in London would have been familiar with the latest English fashions and tried to replicate these in the colonies,” the study concluded.
Bt Tessa Solomon.

yeah but if you're competing to be the least-badly affected country then well. 10% is better than 54!
It couldn’t come at a worse time, but Australia has run a second successive trade surplus with the United States.
Bureau of Statistics figures showed we exported about $5.2 billion of goods – mostly gold – to the US in February.
Australia bought $4 billion of American goods in return. The surplus of $1.1 billon followed a surplus of $1.7 billion in January.
Both were driven by huge purchases of gold by American investors which has helped drive the price of the precious metal to all-time highs.
Until this year, Australia had not run a trade surplus with the US since the Korean War when high-priced Australian wool was in strong demand.
As part of his tariffs, Trump focused on those countries which ran “unfair” trade surpluses with the United States.

After transshipping their luggage and stuff, Rubyn had to leave. Sai and Jack went to the bridge to start the engines to finally begin their journey - to rescue B.D and hunt down Tiny Can. First destination is Batuu (the real Batuu, not the themepark ^^'), where they are supposed to gather more information about B.D's whereabouts - hopefully.
Sai and Jack are on duty at the bridge - nothing could keep Jack from witnessing the beginning of their very own space travel as a bridge crew! Jack: "Can I say it? Please?!" Sai is nervous as hell and he has no idea what Jack is even talking about: "Say what?"

Jack jumped out of his seat: "Oh, I've wanted to say this forever! Get prepared!"

The tension became almost unbearable... Sai: "Say it already!" Jack: "Wait for it..."

... until he finally said it: "ENGAGE!"

Sai: "That's it?" Jack: "Exactly!"
And just like her name giver, the giant star turtle, Great A'Tuin II started to float through space - slowly and gently. Carrying the Boys and the Little Goats - and whatever else - with her.
Meanwhile in Tomarang, Arturo and Chánh are maintaining the Temple.

It's a while ago since they've had the Boys here to help them...

Chánh can sense that Arturo worries if they are ok: "The Master, who watches us from above, takes good care of them."

Arturo: "I'm sure he does."

And he does. Though, the Master could only take a short glance, they are busy to finally barricade those malfunctioning transporter chambers ö.Ö'

Unpunished evil returns and grows stronger in its impunity

"13 houses in the residential area were damaged during the rocket attack, the houses have five floors. There is a very large number of broken windows, over 700. Seven humanitarian buildings were damaged," said Kateryna Yamshchikova, Secretary of the Poltava City Council, about the consequences of the missile attack in Poltava on June 17.
Utilities and rescuers are working at the site. They are trimming damaged trees and removing balcony structures. Social workers and psychologists are also assisting.
Also, Vadym Labas briefly explains why certain countries that arrived at the Global Peace Summit in Switzerland did not sign a joint declaration.
▪️ Saudi Arabia is a major hub for the transfer of components and units for Russian weapons, as well as a place of accumulation of billions of Russian money. ▪️ India - supplies units and components to Russia. It has joint military-industrial complex plants with Russia, from assault rifles to missiles. It is a hub for transshipment of Russian oil. ▪️ South Africa - everything is clear here: "Wagner", money and influence. ▪️ Thailand - supplies sanctioned products to Russia and also helps the Russian military-industrial complex with its production. For example, Russia could not produce cable products without Thailand. ▪️ Indonesia - supplies sanctioned products to Russia. ▪️ Mexico is a huge hub for the supply of drugs to Europe and Russian agents to the United States, which generates huge shadow earnings. ▪️ United Arab Emirates - helps to supply sanctioned products to Russia and has a lot of Russian money. ▪️ Armenia - has a huge Russian lobby and is one of the key players in the supply of smuggled military-industrial products to Russia.
All this brings super-profits either to these countries themselves or to influential clans in these countries. Therefore, they are quite satisfied with the current situation.
P.S.: these countries came to the Summit to "keep their finger on the pulse," but they are not interested in peace in Ukraine because they make super profits by helping Russia circumvent sanctions and supplying components. But if they were given a clear signal about the secondary sanctions that could be imposed for helping Russia, their "pulse rate" would increase significantly.

DPRK prepares for the arrival of the world's evil.
Now the most important news: The ratio of forces in the Pokrovsk sector is 1 to 7 in favor of the Russians, said a soldier of the 47th Brigade, pseudonym "Azimuth".
