Medford, Oregon (2020)

Our first experience, we boondocked on a wide open field we found on Airbnb. The minute we jumped out of the truck, we were just awestruck. The view was breathtaking, farmlands, forested hills, trails, and a winding river. No one right next to us like what we saw at common RV resorts and parks. It was windy as heck but the weather was still in the 70’s. We saw Eagles and a variety of wild birds. We could hear howling coyotes at night and lovely bird sounds during the day.

Since we are newbies we had to practice balancing our trailer, seeing how all the controls work, what works without hookups and seeing what other supplies we needed. We realized that we needed to fill our tank with water though some things were working like the toilet. It was all a mystery and how can we learn it unless we live it.

We were tickled pink by our led lights indoors and out. We blasted out our music from the outdoor speakers. And we negotiated who got what spaces in the RV. The dogs were so confused. They went from a 2200 square foot home with a huge open yard to a confined space. They liked to roam around the field but the wind gave them a bit of a chill. Icee was a bit consitpated.

I spent the days obsessing about generators and dump stations. I have never thought this much about poop more less deal with my own this intimately. Hahahaha.

At one point a guy who was mowing the area left a garden hose out by a shed behind us; and we got so excited thinking we were gonna get some water. We got a little bit until it stopped. Already we were becoming water thieves!

Where do we get water? Where do we dump our sewage? With the Covid-19 scare all RV resorts and camping sites are closed. We will have to resort to Airbnb and Craigslist, hitting up private properties. This is gonna super interesting!!!!

On our way to our next site, we learned we could fill up with potable water and dump our grey and black water at Travel Stations like Pilot and Loves and maybe some rest stops.

G said to me that he could do this forever. I think the reality of how much work this is gonna be is realy sinking in. So far it feels very possible...

He is a 3-year-old English Cream Golden Retriever who is a therapy dog by day and the CEO of @nashies by night! He’s filled with sweetness and spunk and makes our lives (and the lives of others) so much better, every day! We went through training and certifying Nash as a therapy dog and in Fall 2019, we started serving around Nashville, TN in schools, fire stations, and police stations.
