I am a 19 year old mixed albino woman.
Let's talk about representation.
As an albino there are not many characters I can think of that have actually stated to have albinism. However, there are many characters I have been compared to.
I am an albino, I have the basic features of pale skin, white hair, violet eyes and when I was younger a tendency to wear more conservative clothing to protect my skin.
I grew up watching or reading about characters who had these traits described oddly. As if they were unnatural in their world for their looks and even more unnatural with the usual ice powers given to these characters.
My main comparisons in life were both for characters that fit into this area. Ice powered Elsa or evil/mean spirited Malfoys. Neither had/were claimed to have any of the visual impairment that tends to come with albinism.
I resented both comparisons growing up mostly because I was bullied for the very look that made Elsa iconic; the Malfoys villainous pursuits didn't help when bright cameras and school pictures showed my "evil" light effected red eyes. I was either demonic or lucky.
This wasn't my first experience with my peers' judgment on my name, my skin, my eyes and racial judgments to my person. Those that could "tell" I'm mixed and made comments such as sheeps fur to my dry curls. To late bus afternoon rides where Mya was made into Mayo. I preferred this treatment to that of my peers sudden discovery of my features in some type of content or character that isn't albino or doesn't have visual impairment that comes with it. I hated and resented their ignorance.
I hated how in science class-specifically in 7th grade- all eyes would turn to me as we read an article on albinism. How suddenly my peers had empathy, how I was questioned or interrogated all day by strangers. upi understand now in rural schools where the disabled was few, my peers had even fewer examples of someone who looked like me while having this visual impairment.
My peers and I had the same question: why couldn't I be normal?
One or the other. Disabled or different appearance. Why both?
I experienced a very positive type of representation or open discussion on social media.
I remember the moment very vividly, it was after school where I had a really good day and felt good. Didn't matter in the end. My parents were at work and I was bored. I was scrolling and stumbled on a man's post. He like me, had albinism.
In a mere moment I was scrolling under the tag: albinism. Hearing and seeing so many stories that talked about experiences to day to day life. I remember crying very hard. No this wasn't the first time I've seen another albino but in those times it was a project about DNA and repressive traits, YouTube channels about being "unique", articles celebrating differences or someone talking about their favorite or a cool animal. This was talking about the disability or problems that come with the "cool" look from people with albinism. This was people sharing experiences not for some company profiting from speaking on it but for other albinos. This was people with albinism talking about albinism uninfluenced by others. It wasn't being shamed or removed, it was openly talked about. It wasn't a scientist or researcher talking.
That mattered .
So when speaking on representation I think back to that moment when I felt seen by another person or algorithm that acknowledged what I experienced as a person because they felt the same. Not similar or alike. The same.
I think for many people who don't notice it, but don't need to. Don't understand the why. The: why would someone deliberately seek something with that particular information or representation.? The: why would you need to?
To that I say, to understand that you are normal, that these negative experiences you grow up with are not because of you- yourself- that there's nothing fundamentally wrong with you. That it's an unfortunate common experience for those that fit into minorities no matter how large or small it is. That the "unique" labels they place on you, are not true. To prove to those apart of any minority or community that live in very small or isolated areas they are not the problem. It's to feel that you are not stuck in one category your whole life and that you can do something. Even when no one else in your "category" has.

Adopted?
Carmilla agrees to watch Vaggie's son. She might have forgot to tell Sera that she didn't just randomly adopt a son. @tanema123
Late on a Friday night, Vaggie passed over the small cannibal child over to Carmilla. “Thanks for agreeing to watching Jacob.”
“No problem, mija. Have fun on your date.” Carmilla smiled at him and bounced him on her hip, “ready to have fun at Abuela’s?”
“Yeah! Bye Mama!” he waved enthusiastically as Vaggie had to be dragged to the car by Charlie. They watched the car drive off and Jacob pouted, “I miss mama.”
“She’ll be back soon, don’t worry,” Carmilla kissed his head. They went into the living room where Carmilla had set up some cannibal activities, like a dead sinner to tear into, coloring books, and a stabbing target.
Jacob rushed over to the coloring book, using the sinner’s blood as paint. Slowly, the others started coming home, starting with Clara and Odette, who knew who Jacob was, then Emily, who didn’t, and Sera, who has never seen him before.
“Carmilla Carmine,” Sera groaned as she saw the little boy play a board game with the girls, “I thought we talked about you adopting kids. You said Vaggie was the last one.”
The three Carmines looked at each other and had the same thought.
“Vaggie was the last daughter, Jacob is a son,” Odette informed Sera as Clara whispered the plan into Jacob’s ear. The little boy nodded enthusiastically.
“Mother! Upies!” Jacob ordered, holding his hands up. He still had blood on his clothes.
“No, Carmilla, return him now,” Sera ordered.
“But Sera,” Clara started the baby spider-eyes that the others quickly joined in. Sera turned away.
“No buts, we have enough children.” Sera turned to Carmilla, “Why did you adopt another child without telling me?”
“Because you would have said no,” Carmilla hummed. She opened her arms and Jacob rushed in for a hug, “can you really resist such a cute face? Can he at least stay till after dinner?”
“Do we even have food for him?”
“Oh don’t worry, I made sure to pick up some sinners for him,” Carmilla bounced him on her knee, “his food is in the black crock-pot.”
Sera paled, “the-the black one?”
“Yeah, ours is in the pressure pot wh- you didn’t,” Carmilla covered her mouth, growing horror and realization came to all of them.
“I just wanted a taste. I-I didn’t think- I’m going to be sick,” Sera ran into the bathroom. Jacob jumped off Carmilla’s knee as she ran after.
“Is grandma going to be ok?” Jacob asked Clara.
“90% sure. Thou I don’t know what happens when an angel decides to become a cannibal,” Odette adjusted her glasses.
“Five bucks says that she skips dinner tonight,” Clara said.
“Deal,” Jacob pulled out a five and they both passed the bills to Odette to oversee the bet.
Emily coughed, turning their attention from the sound of Sera wrenching to Emily, “Jacob is our…”
“Nephew, mama must be babysitting for Vaggie,” Clara rubbed the boy’s head. He shoved her and they had a mini-fight until Carmilla came out. Sera did show up for dinner, she didn’t eat anything, but Jacob technically won the bet and told Vaggie everything when she picked him up.

I don't want to complain from one ear to the otherI don't want to notice if the one who is ahead of me moves awayI don't want to deny the reflection I leave in my mirrorI don't want to harbor resentment between eyebrow and eyebrow
I don't want to keep so many secretsNor be confronted in a grotesque pictureLike the Montagues and the CapuletsI don't want at your age to become obsolete
Nor lose my vigor, nor say without rigorThat all times past were always betterNor arrive at my house obfuscated and annoyedI don't want to be tired of wearing myself
And although this truth may hurtI have to say it without pleasingBut if I offend, I ask for forgivenessWhen I grow upI don't want to be like you
I don't want to make your same mistakesNor believe that everyone is a swindlerI don't want to handle your same valuesNor that every day is the same as the previous ones
I don't want to be unable to control my angerI don't want to carry that sadness in my eyesWet and red, worn and sluggishI don't want to resign myself to being my spoils
Nor to vehemently blame othersFor what is my business and responsibilityNor to try in some idiocyWhat I couldn't do when I was twenty-three.
And although this truth may hurtI have to say it without pleasingBut if I offend, I ask for forgivenessWhen I grow upI don't want to be like you
I don't want anything to provoke me pleasureNor that when pain touches me, it evokes yesterdayNor to look at old pictures and start cryingOr to name someone and start trembling
I don't want to lead that battered lifeWith suspicions of deceit and the illusion discardedNor to throw pests believing myself to be ApolloNor to be bothered on a date being alone
And although this could be misinterpretedI don't want you to think it's just to criticizeAnd I hope it's just a statementBecause I don't even know if I want you to want to be like me.
And though this truth may hurtI have to say it without panderingBut if I offend, I ask for forgivenessWhen I grow upI don't want to be like you
And though this truth may hurt (I don't want to be like you)I have to say it without pandering (I don't want to be like you)But if I offend, I ask for forgiveness (I don't want to be like you)When I grow up
This is one of my favorite Cuarteto de Nos songs!
The song “Cuando Sea Grande” by Cuarteto de Nos is about the opposition to following the life path of an adult figure, probably a parent or role model, and the search for an authentic identity of one's own. The central theme is the refusal to repeat the mistakes or patterns of behavior of that figure, expressed in the refrain, “Cuando sea grande, no quiero ser como vos.”
The song explores the frustration and dissatisfaction with that person's life, using ironic language and puns. It criticizes the lack of authenticity and the difficulty in adapting to change, as well as the tendency to blame others for one's own problems.
In short, “Cuando sea grande” is a song about the search for individuality, personal responsibility and the refusal to repeat past mistakes, inviting to reflect on one's own life and the importance of living authentically.

I really like these lyrics! Thank you for the suggestion!

Serpentine Beach: Chapter 2
Pairing: James Potter x Regulus Black
Summary: Regulus buys a run-down shack on a pretty beach hoping to turn it into a five-star restaurant. Chapter II.
 𓇼 ⋆。˚ 𓆝⋆。˚ 𓇼
The Starlight crew have tried their best to get Regulus to relax over the years. From university to odd jobs and questionable lawsuits (thanks Barty), they’ve been through a lot of things together. Going in on this restaurant with each other wasn’t a big gamble as some people would assume. Regulus trusts these people, not just as hard-working coworkers, but as hard-working friends. Hell, he could even say family.
Through all of his own crash outs and semi-permanent mental breaks, they’ve never seen him so…frozen. The Regulus they know is the type of man that crawls out of hell just to get things done. The man they see now isn’t. Regulus looked and felt devoid of any motivation to get through this one. He felt like that same kid who was watching the world burn around him; his father pouring the gas and his mother striking the match. But I’m not, he reminds himself as he jots down notes in a small plain black notebook.
Throwing himself into work felt like the only natural thing he could do anymore. Weed wasn’t calming him down and Evan cut him off after his third Paloma. The only thing left was Starlight, the menu to be exact. So, he holed himself up in Remus’s kitchen, claiming a space in the back so he doesn’t get in the way of the morning prep. When he’s not experimenting and taking notes, he’s helping with whatever Remus throws his way. The chef seems to keep to himself just as much as Regulus does.
“I'm not using you to avoid everything.” Regulus says on the third day as he takes one of his sharp knives to peel his thousandth potato. Remus sits behind him, needing to take a break from standing and straining his leg too much. Apparently, he's got chronic pain in his hip and legs and a whole load of other problems he didn't wish to get into when he explained the cane that usually rests beside him. Regulus didn't question it and made sure not to hover.
Without looking up from his own potato, Remus hums, dropping it into the bowl of others. “Right.” He agrees, before glancing up with an amused glint. “So, you're not purposely ignoring your friend's wishes to hang out at the pool or by the water. And you don't triple check the halls before leaving the kitchen to make sure Sirius isn’t going down them.”
“Those are merely protective measures.” Regulus huffs, putting the knife down for a moment, running his hand over the apron he wears. The starch from the potatoes has made his hands uncomfortably dry. “You never know how that bastard will strike.”
“Yes, my husband is quite the planner.” Remus deadpans and grabs another potato from the sack. Gliding his knife easily beneath the skin, he grins to himself. “Nearly fell out of the bed this morning trying to reach the phone. A genius really.”
Regulus scowls and shakes his head with a disappointed sigh. “I can't believe you have such horrible taste. And here I was, almost starting to like you.”
Remus actually laughs at the jab, grinning to himself, he sets his knife down as well to pick up his cane instead. Using that and the counter for an aid, he rises from his seat to come stand next to Regulus.
“Look, I couldn't believe it either.” He admits and looks down at the list of prep to do today. “I mean, uni was hell for me. For all of us really, but Sirius took it all in stride and made himself a better man because of it. So…no matter how stupid he may act, he's a good man who came from a bad place.”
“You know it all then? Well, his side at least.” Regulus asks, going back to his work.
“Only some. He doesn't talk about it too much.” Remus informs, moving to grab a marker to write some things down. There are a few moments of silence, just the sound of Regulus peeling potato skins and the sharpie Remus is using, gliding on the surface of the paper.
“He does miss you.”
Regulus doesn't respond to that, keeping his steady peeling pace. Remus seems to get the message and stops talking about it. The two go about the kitchen work in the same rhythm they had on the first day, the heavy topic doing nothing to affect the training of a good routine.
The thought of Sirius missing him after the shitshow he caused when he left the family makes Regulus want to laugh. Not a good happy laugh, but the sort that comes out during the worst events to laugh at. Like a funeral.
Regulus could feel and hear it all as if it happened just the other day ago. Sometimes at night, he’d close his eyes and hear the voices of Sirius and their mother clashing. He hears the police sirens, tastes the iron from blood on his tongue, and sometimes he hears his big brother begging him to run away with him.
Sometimes.
It makes Regulus understand that no matter how much work he does on himself, no matter how many good deeds he tries to do, he can't wipe the slate of his family name away. Sirius will look at him and always see the little brother who rejected him, not the man looking for some sort of peace.
And yes, he was quite bitter about having to deal with Orion's death all on his own. Regulus quickly grew tired of having to act like the eldest son after Sirius left. He hadn’t known just how much his older brother was shielding him from. Dinners became unbearable, the mild chatter of Orion talking about the most recent sucker who signed a contract with him, along with Walburga’s fake interest in the subject.
It took three years for Regulus to follow in Sirius’s footsteps. To leave that rotten house. The first six months were spent trying to find a place to live and find his older brother. He had lived in a stuffy flat with the family's ex-chef Kretcher. There, he learned the wonders of cooking.
Not just high-class portions and overpriced soups. No, Kretcher guided him through how to cook when living off of scraps. He never went to bed hungry, unlike at his parents' house where his mother refused their children more appropriate portions. Regulus thought it was funny that he ate better at his poorest rather than when he had the House of Black funds.
It's to keep your figure, she would say while condescendingly looking at their staff that were trying to mind their own business. His mother is a wicked old bitch. A woman who could smile in your face while poisoning your cup of wine.
“Oh, I forgot. Minnie told me to warn you about the summer rush.” Remus speaks up, pulling Regulus out from his thoughts. He blinks for a moment, trying to come back to Earth before nodding, reaching up to grab a pan.
“I'm assuming it gets busy when the season fully starts.” Regulus responds, oiling up the pan and turning on the heat with three satisfying clicks.
Remus lets out a humorless laugh, shaking his head as he fills a large pot with most of the potatoes they peeled for the day. “Think of brunch on a Sunday after church, but ten times more packed and never ending.”
Regulus wrinkles his nose at the thought which makes Remus really laugh. “It sounds dreadful. When does Tiger's Eye open its doors?”
“June seventh, I think.” Remus answers, now wiping his hands off on a kitchen towel. He comes over to stand next to Regulus, glancing at the temp Regulus set the stove at as if to double check. “Anyways, before the opening the staff likes to have a big party to boost morale. The woman who man's one of the gift shops, Marlene, says that working opening day with massive hangovers is tradition now.”
“Is this an invitation, Lupin?”
“Hey, act like staff, get treated like staff.”
Regulus does not deny the statement, just shrugging with a small grin on his face as he pours onions into the pan. Before the two chefs could talk any further of the upcoming work that must be done, one part of the kitchen double doors opens to reveal Harry poking his head in with a big goofy smile.
Seeing it's only Regulus and Remus, he makes his way in, little legs working overtime to rush over. “Uncle Moony, can I have a- a…ni..nicoise salad?”
“Salad?” Remus echos, turning to look down at Harry who sees nothing strange with his request. Raising a brow, Remus pats Harry’s head. “You want a salad? I thought you only ate cheese and chicken.”
“I do!” Harry agrees before pausing and furrowing his brows in thought, clearly trying to come up with an excuse to get this salad. Regulus watches the exchange with mild amusement, before grabbing a piece of lettuce and putting it in Harry's face. Harry gasps and stammers back like he's been presented with the boogeyman.
“I don't know bug, it seems like you wouldn't come near a salad.” Remus drags out, putting his hands on his hips. “Who gave you this mission?”
“Shh uncle moony! It's supposed to be a secret spy mission.” Harry says loudly, raising his hands to try to reach Remus’s mouth. Given the fact the man is nearly six feet tall, there's not a chance Harry’s baby arms make it.
“Mission? And who put you on this mission?” Regulus asks dryly, turning back to make sure the onions don't burn.
“Uncle padfoot.”
“What kind of name is Padfoot?” Regulus deadpans, shaking his head to himself as Remus rolls his eyes. Remus doesn't look amused anymore, quickly reaching into his pocket to pull out a notepad and write something down. He takes a sheet off with a loud rip, folding it neatly and handing it off to harry.
“I have a different mission for you.” Remus says, giving Harry a smile. “Go give this to Padfoot and tell him if he doesn't come down here himself, I will get your mother.”
Harry looks at Remus with comically wide eyes before nodding his head off as he races out of the kitchen to go deliver the message. Regulus shakes his head, muttering something about kids while Remus gets back to work.
“Padfoot and Moony huh?” Regulus questions.
Remus sighs, rolling his sleeves up. “You don't want to know, trust me.”
Not even five minutes later, Harry pops back into the kitchen with a happy smile, gently tapping his hands on the island to alert them he was there. “I'm back!” He announces loudly which earns him the attention of the room. Regulus tries very hard not to be fond of the kid, but there's so much charm in the way he acts. Despite his horrible palate, Regulus can tell the kid was raised by a loving family. He could turn out a normal adult, he thinks to himself as he watches Remus barge out of the kitchen.
“Ouch! Moony, be gentle baby.” the familiar whining voice of Sirius comes through before the doors push open again. Remus has Sirius by the ear, dragging him inside before letting go with an unamused look.
“How many times do I have to tell you? If you want to request food, come down here like an adult and ask for it. Harry isn’t your messenger boy.” He rants; scarred arms crossed over his chest.
Regulus stands stiffly by his pan, hoping to God that Sirius chooses to ignore his existence like he's been trying to do. Harry comes to stand next to him to watch the show with the same little grin on his face. “Uncle Moony gets onto Uncle Padfoot like mommy gets onto daddy” He whispers loudly.
Sirius looks up, betrayed by his godson. “Harry! Don't converse with the enemy.” He calls out, only to earn a sharp look from Remus. “What? He could be putting bad ideas in the kid's head.” he tries to defend himself.
Regulus scoffs, unable to stop himself from responding to his brother's jabs. “Like what? Eat a vegetable? I'm sure he's gotten your horrid eating habits. A salad once a month does nothing for you.”
“You little-” Sirius cuts himself off from cursing but shakes his hands like he's strangling the air. “You know nothing of my eating habits. Moony keeps me well fed!”
“Oh, I'm sure he does.” Regulus agrees. “Didn't have a good mommy to start with so you went and found yourself a new caretaker huh? Must be nice getting to pick and choose the struggles you want to deal with.”
“Oh, like you have room to talk.”
“I don't.” Regulus shrugs before turning back to cooking. Harry looks between the two of them and then turns to watch Regulus cook, his tiny hand grabbing at Regulus’s pants. Blinking in surprise, he looks down to see Harry's focused gaze before choosing not to comment on it.
Sirius whines. “Look! He's stealing Harry away from us.” He tells Remus. Remus himself is rubbing the spot between his eyes, trying to fight off a migraine. “I told you he was a scheming little snake. He's plotting to take over the entire resort!”
“He's opening a restaurant on the other part of the beach.” Remus corrects, before taking Sirius’s hands, kissing the tattoos on his pale knuckles. “Stop using Harry to hide from your problems.”
“Why must you hang around my problem?” Sirius asks in return which makes Regulus grin to himself at being labeled in that way. He's fighting a losing battle, much to Regulus’s amusement.
“Your problem is a guest that is actually helping me around the kitchen.” Remus reminds Sirius. Sirius grumbles under his breath, moving to hide himself in Remus’s chest, kissing along the scarred man's jaw before pulling away to glare at Regulus.
“Don't you dare try anything with my man.” Sirius warns.
Regulus doesn't even turn around to acknowledge the warning, just waving his older brother off. Sirius huffs and storms out of the kitchen, leaving them to work in peace. Remus shakes his head once more, before putting the pot over the stove and turning it on. “He‘ll get over it.” he assures like this isn't a rare occasion of fits. Harry nods and looks up at Regulus.
“He’ll like you soon, fake uncle.”
“My name is Regulus, not fake uncle.”
Harry frowns. “It's too long.” He complains, before tugging further on Regulus’s pants leg.
“And fake uncle isn't?” Regulus questions with a small laugh, looking down at the young boy as he pouts about what to call Regulus. Sighing, Regulus gives in and turns his head away. “Call me Reggie then.”
“Okay, Reggie!”  Harry smiles before looking back at the movements Regulus does with the pan.

"I'm telling you James, ignore the soft angel like skin and you'll find a demon underneath." Sirius prattles on, coming back from the kitchens empty handed, his quest for food failed.
James isn't surprised, given the fact his own son was used as the messenger owl, a thing Remus and Lily have been trying to get Sirius to stop doing. James doesn't mind though, biting the inside of his cheek as he soaks in every detail about Sirius’s baby brother.
Regulus Black, once a figure James could only imagine when Sirius would open up about his life before university. He was a complete mystery to everyone, only bits and pieces of information from Sirius’s scattered memories of his home life.
Round cheeks, a crybaby, a little smart ass, those are the words that Sirius used to describe the now grown version of that little boy Sirius knew.
Shaking his head, he hums, keeping a steady pace on the task of folding Harry's clothes. Taking small swim shorts, he lays them out on the bed, taking the time to match the ends perfectly. "I don't know pads, maybe he's actually just living his life like you are."
"You don't just leave the Blacks that easily." Sirius protests, shaking his head as if what James said was the stupidest thing on Earth. James shrugs, adding the swim shorts to the fresh pile of laundry.
Pushing his glasses higher on his nose bridge, he turns to Sirius with his hands on his hips, giving his best friend a look. "You were able to leave; I don't see why Regulus couldn't have."
"I begged him to come with me James, and he refused to."
James doesn't know how to respond to that. Instead of speaking, he bends over to grab a handful of Harry's shirts, shoving them to Sirius’s chest.
"Look, I know you're experiencing a lot of things right now." James says carefully, keeping the shirts pressed to Sirius’s chest, waiting for Sirius to grab them himself. Once Sirius meets his eyes, he nods and let's go to resume his shorts folding.
Sirius falls in a slower pace of folding, biting the piercing on his bottom lip in concentration.
"You lost your dad, and now you're seeing a brother you've thought you lost forever. Instead of seeing this as a bad sign, maybe take it the other way around. This is your chance to connect with Regulus again." James speaks calmly; in the tone he's now usually taking when speaking to Harry during fits.
It works for babies, drunks and emotionally devastated best friends.
"Just because he didn't leave with you doesn't mean he never grew up and changed his mind."
Sirius is silent for a while, the only sound in the room is the shuffling of clothes and the kicking on of the aircon. James knows that Sirius is thinking. Of what exactly, he isn't sure of, but he's got that distant look in his eyes. The look of remembering the past.
After the last shirt is folded, Sirius sighs. "Okay, maybe he isn't here to ruin my life." He concedes. "But that doesn't mean he's changed. He could still be in their...no, her demon claws."
James nods along to Sirius’s words, setting the last pair of shorts on the pile and patting it happily.
"How about this pads, what if I go speak to some of his coworkers? I'll get the scoop on Regulus and report back to you like a good little messenger boy." He offers with a big grin. “I am the next best thing after Harry.”
Internally he feels a little bit guilty for offering such a thing, knowing full well he wants to know more about this adult Regulus too. It’s not like he knew that Sirius’s brother was going to look so…so..pleasing to the eye. It's not fair that there is a man that looks that attractive being off limits.
He could see it now, the sun glistening off Regulus’s curls, the salty air making a mess on his head. James wants to watch him lounge at the pool, or lay on a beach towel. He wants that scathing, calculating look on him. Surely Regulus is short enough that James could easily pull him in one of the supply closets and-
No James. That's Sirius’s baby brother.
He can’t touch, but it doesn’t mean he can’t flirt and learn more about the head chef of Starlight.
"You'd do that for me, prongs?" Sirius pouts, a little teary eyed, bringing James back to the realm of not horny people. I'm going to hell, James thinks in passing as he nods, trying to act like this is a fully innocent mission just for his best friend.
"Of course, you're family."
Sirius gives him a teary eyed smile, dramatic as usual but James loves that part of him. Raising from the bed, he gives James a rough pat on the arm, the tears quickly replaced with determination.
"You've got to find out everything you can, Potter. We need to learn what the bastard is up to." Sirius says. "He’s already got Moony in this trap, my own husband! Better be careful, don't be the next."
James nearly gulps at the warning, but laughs off the brush of anxiety at Sirius’s words. How does he tell his best friend that he was totally planning to hit on Regulus the second he saw him standing at the pool during Lily’s tour?
I won't tell him a thing, James decides, before heading out to go seek one of the Starlight Crew to start asking totally innocent questions.
As he leaves the hotel room, he ponders about which to speak to. Barty was nice, but in that sort of way like every word he says feels like an underhanded tease. He didn't hear much of their bartender, and Dorcas was already relaxing out by the pools.
"Can't disturb resting guests." He mumbles to himself as he walks down the halls all the way through the main entrance and out the sliding doors. The salty air hits his senses the second he steps past the wall.
James closes his eyes for a moment to enjoy the feeling he's missed, then makes his way down to the long stretch of beach, walking in a stranger's literal footsteps to the now bare bones of the once shabby building that accompanied Tiger's Eye on the stretch of beach.
The Starlight crew had wasted no time getting contractors out. Most of the outside of the hut were gone, stripped right down to the wooden beams and rotten wood.  James hadn't really expected to find anyone there, but as he passed the old fishing pier that laid between the two establishments, he caught a glimpse of platinum blonde hair.
Pandora is standing near a pile of lumber that rests in the sand. There's an entire long fold out table in front of her, with an array of different sorts of delicious looking cupcakes with cloud like frosting covering them all.
In her hands, she jots down notes in a little pink notebook lost in her own world.
James gets a sudden hint of embarrassment. Why is he bothering this poor lady about her friend? What right does he have to go prying into that pretty man's life? Before he can walk away, she speaks up.
"Oh, hello there!" Pandora smiles, tucking a strand of her hair behind her ear, the wind from the ocean making it nearly impossible for it to stay still.
James offers a smile back, walking up to the table with his hands in his pockets. "Ello there. Sorry to bother you, I just wanted to uh...check it out." He explains almost awkwardly. James wonders where his usual charm went, begging it to come back before he makes a bigger fool of himself.
Pandora either didn't care or didn't notice, just happily nodding along to his lame excuse. She glances behind her to the bare bones of the restaurant. "Ah, yes. It looks like a wreck now, but things get worse before they get better."
James nods in agreement, a real smile creeping in. Regulus can't be an evil mastermind if he's got a woman like her at his side. "Yes. I'm actually really excited about the restaurant. The guests have been wanting something else to go to for food. It's going to be a whole new experience for long term guests to enjoy."
"I'm happy our presence is welcomed." Pandora says wistfully, looking back to the array of sweets on the table. James takes a look as well, trying to not let his mouth water.
Remus would murder him if he found out he was tempted to eat sugary desserts before dinner. After Harry was born, everyone in the friend group had chosen to go on good diets to stay healthy for the boy.
But god does he want to try them badly.
"Regulus isn't here, you know." Pandora says lightly, moving one of the cupcakes to the other side before crossing something out in her notebook. "He's been in the kitchens with Remus, refusing to take a break."
"Does he often not take breaks?" James asks.
Pandora looks up from her notebook, nearly white brows furrowing as she takes a hard look at James. The expression passed quickly- almost too quickly but James still had caught it before she went back to the pleasant look.
"He's a hard working man." She grins, setting the notebook on the table. "Single too.."
"Oh." James tries not to sound distressed. It's hard when that's the most interesting thing he's heard right now. No, stop it, he reprimands himself. I can't go back to Sirius just to say that Regulus is single and very very available.
"So, what have you got here? These look amazing." James changes the subject abruptly, but yet again, Pandora doesn't seem to mind. In fact, she grins widely, gesturing to the array of sweets on the table with a proud flare.
"Experiments." She answers, picking a cupcake up. The frosting looks to be chocolate with an assortment of chocolate pieces and maybe brown sprinkles on top. Whatever it is, it makes James stomach growl loudly.
"Would you like to sample? I would love some feedback."
"I'm dying too." James admits and takes the offered cupcake. At first, he tries to take a bite like a sane person, but his teenage instincts kick in and he nearly shoves the entire thing into his mouth.
As he chews, Pandora watches with interest, picking the notebook up with a glint of mischief in her eyes.
"How's the taste?"
"It's good! Something is a little crunchy though."
Pandora nods, writing notes down innocently before speaking again. "Oh, the bugs tend to be. I'm trying to find a way to ease them into the recipes"
James stops mid chew, his face growing pale. "Bugs?"
"Yes, bugs. Regulus banned me from experimenting with them in the kitchen, but I'm trying to get one bug dish on the menu." She sighs as if the fact is weighing on her. “Everyone loves a good bug dish.”
James tries very hard not to spit the cupcake out, especially when she's looking at him so patiently to swallow so she can hear his thoughts. Closing his eyes for a moment, he forced himself to finish, barely containing the gag. "Maybe give people a warning ,you know?" He offers lightly.
When he opens his eyes, Pandora is watching him with an amused expression, nodding along to his suggestion. "I normally don't have to, Regulus warns others for me."
"Regulus didn't do a good job this time." James retorts with a weak smile.
"Oh well." She shrugs, looking back down to the table. "Want to try the cricket version?"
"No thanks, I've had enough dessert before dinner." James excuses himself and bids Pandora a swift goodbye before running back to the Resort in search of mouthwash and water.
Maybe Regulus could be evil, James thinks to himself as he slips back into his room, heading straight for the bathroom. It doesn't make me want to run though, he notes, watching himself swish mouthwash back and forth in the reflection of the mirror.
Sirius is gonna kill him, but he may get over it.

How are you handling the transactions in Mumbai and Goa? When I visited, there were so many shops that went cashless and used the UPI system instead. Confused me at first 😵‍💫
In Mumbai I didn't have a problem with cash or foreign card being accepted (actually at the Airtel shop that finally sold me a SIM card the guy only wanted cash, but perhaps because he was overcharging me), so far in Goa my friend was doing the UPI thing everywhere and I'd just give him cash later. But we parted ways today, and when going into a cafe in Panaji just now I was surprised they didn't even have ₹200 in change and had to go fetch it, so maybe it'll become an issue as I go along. And then I'm not sure what I'll do!

What Is EV Charging Management Software?
Tumblr media
Let’s get one thing out of the way EV charging isn’t just about plugging into a socket and walking away. Behind that simple user experience is a whole ecosystem that needs to run like a well-oiled (or should we say, well-charged) machine. That’s where EV charging management software steps in.
Think of it as the backend control room that powers everything from session tracking to billing, charger health, and even the queue at your nearest public station. Whether you’re managing a single station or hundreds across locations, this software is what keeps operations clean, trackable, and profitable.
Let’s break this down properly and make sense of what matters especially if you’re planning to get into the EV game with some business sense, not just shiny dashboards.
What is EV Charging Management Software, Really?
In simple words, EV Charging Management Software (CMS) is a centralized system that lets charging station owners, operators, and businesses manage, monitor, and monetize their EV charging infrastructure.
It does everything from:
Authorizing users and vehicles
Monitoring energy usage
Managing peak loads
Automating billing and invoicing
Handling remote diagnostics
And integrating with apps, wallets, and CRM tools
Without it, you'd be managing your EV chargers with spreadsheets, phone calls, and prayers.
Who Needs It?
If you're a fleet operator, public charging station owner, commercial building manager, or even a residential society exploring EV readiness this software isn't a luxury. It's survival gear.
And yes, government projects, retail malls, parking lots, and logistics parks are all getting in on it.
You want uptime, transparency, and ROI? You need a CMS that plays nice with your hardware and grows as your needs change.
What Problems Does It Solve?
Here’s where we skip the fluff and talk about real issues.
1. Energy Load Management
Uncontrolled EV charging can blow up your utility bill or trip the local transformer. CMS helps you control how much energy flows where and when without causing grid panic.
2. Charger Downtime
No operator wants to get that “your charger isn’t working” call at 2 AM. A solid CMS alerts you before users complain. Remote diagnostics and health checks are baked in.
3. User Authentication & Payments
Want to let only subscribed users charge? Want to integrate UPI, cards, or in-app wallets? A proper CMS does all that without you writing a single line of code.
4. Revenue Leakage
Imagine running a business where you're not sure who paid, how much power was delivered, or how many sessions failed. A CMS gives you transaction-level visibility. No guessing games.
5. Scalability
Planning to go from 5 chargers to 50? From 1 location to 12 cities? Your CMS better be ready before your Excel sheet dies of stress.
Must-Have Features (Beyond Just “Dashboard Looks Cool”)
A good EV CMS isn't just eye candy. Here's what you should be checking for:
OCPP Compliance: Plays well with most hardware brands
Dynamic Load Balancing: Keeps your power use smart and optimized
Real-time Monitoring: Know what’s happening where, second by second
Custom Pricing Models: Per minute, per kWh, time-of-day rates you control the game
Fleet & Group Management: Especially if you're running EV fleets or shared chargers
User Access Control: Set roles, permissions, and access levels
White-label Option: Your brand, your logo, your rules
So, Who’s Doing It Right?
There are plenty of software platforms out there that’ll promise the moon until you actually plug them in. But a few players are doing it with serious focus on customization, clean architecture, and real customer support.
Stellen Infotech: Quietly Building the Backbone for EV Ops
While most are busy chasing investor buzzwords, Stellen Infotech is quietly building robust, scalable, and adaptable EV charging software solutions for businesses that actually need to function in the real world.
They’re not just slapping a UI on top of code and calling it a platform. Their stack includes features like:
Custom-built integrations for fleets
White-labeled dashboards
Load optimization modules
Billing and invoicing flexibility
API support for third-party logistics, CRMs, or payment apps
The vibe? Practical tech that doesn’t crash when you scale or cry when you run 100 sessions a day. You’ll notice they’re not trying to be the flashiest just the most dependable in the room. And that’s honestly what most businesses want when dealing with critical infrastructure.
Can’t I Just Build This Myself?
Sure, if you’re sitting on a dev team with grid logic, payment gateway knowledge, OCPP expertise, and UI chops. Otherwise, you’ll spend 18 months burning money, and still end up with something half-baked.
EV management is not just a software challenge it’s a compliance, connectivity, and customer experience challenge. You’re better off working with a team that already figured that out.
What About Hardware Compatibility?
The good ones like Stellen’s platform are built to support OCPP 1.6 and 2.0, meaning they work with a wide range of chargers. You’re not locked into one brand or vendor, which is great because EV hardware isn’t cheap and upgrading just for software issues is bad business.
Final Thoughts: Where This Is Headed
EV charging isn't a novelty anymore. With mandates, subsidies, and rising fuel prices, we’re going to see charging stations pop up like ATMs did in the 2000s. But here’s the thing the ones who’ll stay profitable aren’t the ones who bought the fanciest chargers. It’s the ones who run them smartly.
That’s where EV charging management software earns its keep.
Whether you’re just setting up or scaling across cities, having a solid CMS isn’t optional it’s your operational backbone. Platforms like what Stellen Infotech offers are making this easier for businesses that don’t want to get stuck figuring out load curves and session reports at 11 PM.
And honestly? That’s the kind of tech backbone more EV businesses need not another flashy dashboard with no substance.

Tradition and novelty collide at UPIS Fair 2025 activities
The second and third days of the UPIS Fair 2025 on February 26 and 27 saw the return of the face-to-face Alternative Classroom Learning Experience (ACLE) with other well-loved activities, namely the Treasure Hunt and Tagis Talino, alongside the brand-new Skit Competition taking the stage. Held as part of the school's annual fair, these events brought together students from different grade levels to participate in both educational and recreational activities.
SKIT COMPETITION
Held on Day 2 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the 7-12 Narra Function Hall, the Skit Competition, titled “TALA-Salitaan,” put on full display the UPIS students’ creativity and collaboration expertise.
Four groups of students from various grade levels competed by creating a 5-minute skit based on the given prompt, “Bilang mag-aaral ng UPIS, ano ang nagbibigay-alab sa iyong puso? (As a UPIS student, what ignites your heart?)”. Each group was coached by two students from Grades 11 and 12, while the actors consisted of students from Grades 3 to 10. They independently coordinated their schedules, practice sessions, props, and costumes.
The winning group included the following students: actors Nathaniel Dominic Angeles, Gabriel Uychoco, Amane Jibril Panao, Elin Danielle Lim, Juno Sebastian Valencia, Amara Jade Mariano, and coaches Samantha Anika Dimal and Dedric Shawn Bejo. Their skit revolved around various archetypes of UPIS students who worked through conflict despite their differences.
Performances were judged based on the criteria: 35% for message, 30% for flow of performance, 15% for adherence to rules and mechanics, 10% for creativity, and 10% for audience impact.
Tumblr media
According to the UPIS Pamunuan ng Kamag-Aral 7-12 (PKA), the Skit Competition was created in order to be a socially creative outlet for various students from grades 3-12—an opportunity for elementary and high school students to collaborate. Although the final roster of participants only came from grades 5-12, the organizers observed that “those who were able to join seemed to have created a bond from working on the competition.”
TREASURE HUNT
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Treasure Hunt, titled “KALIMAYO,” was present this year for Days 2 and 3 of the fair. In the previous year, the activity was listed in the activity lineup but was ultimately canceled after the UPIS Fair was revised to fit a one-day schedule.
KALIMAYO was conducted for Grades 3 to 6 students on Day 2 and Grades 7 to 12 students on Day 3. Each group had 45 minutes to finish mini-games across different “islands” or destinations in the 3-6 Building. Challenges include pinning a sail, walking blindfolded through a minefield, deciphering a secret emoji code, solving a jigsaw puzzle, completing a team relay, and navigating an obstacle course.
When asked about the problems encountered in organizing and implementing the event, PKA 7-12 shared that PKA 3-12 faced two major challenges. First, they were unfamiliar with executing the event, as Treasure Hunt was a newly implemented activity. Second, sign-ups for another event were happening simultaneously, creating logistical challenges. Despite these hurdles, the Treasure Hunt pushed through to the delight of the organizers and participants.
ACLE
This year’s ACLE, dubbed “SULO,” featured 24 simultaneous sessions that were held from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. on Day 2. The sessions were spread out in the following locations: classrooms and quadrangles in the UPIS 3-6 and 7-12 buildings, 3-6 Bulwagan, 7-12 Gymnasium, and the National Institute for Science and Mathematics Education Development (NISMED) in UP Diliman.
Tumblr media
Around half of this year's ACLE speakers were current UPIS students, with the majority coming from grades 11 and 12. These include Princess Sharmaine Callueng (Grade 11), who facilitated the 3-6 Drawing and Painting session, and Yesue Timothy Apon and Alexandra Sophia Blasi (Grade 12), who were the speakers for the 7-12 3-D Printing session. Public Speaking—one session for grades 3-6 and another for 7-8—was led by Justice Christian Aguinaldo (Grade 11 student) and Rachelle Marie Bueno (Grade 12 student), respectively.
“Our Ates and Kuya[s] from Senior High School have high potential discussing various topics that are easily relatable to UPIS students all throughout,” explained members of the PKA 7-12. The council recommended that the system of tapping UPIS students as ACLE speakers be adapted in the following years, citing more efficient coordination as a key benefit. The PKA added that the “peer-to-peer approach” also had a beneficial effect on the students’ participation in the session.
Other changes to this year’s ACLE included the shift to face-to-face sessions, which, according to the officers, resulted in a lack of room assignments or venues per session and various scheduling issues. Apart from this, the session duration was extended to two hours and the topics themselves were sourced from the students.  However, the PKA revealed that extending the session duration was in favor of ACLE’s learning format. Additionally, they shared that the feedback they received was encouraging, stating that “students express[ed] that this year's ACLE was more enjoyable and interactive since the topics chosen also came from the students.”
The K-2 also held their own ACLE sessions titled “ISKULAY.” According to Teacher Pam Vinoya, head of the K-2 ACLE activities, the workshops “were selected to enhance students' skills in preparation for [K-2’s] upcoming year-end presentation, a play that will occur this May.”
The K-2 department invited professors and students from the UP College of Arts and Letters (Department of Speech Communication and Theatre Arts) to lead the workshops. Teacher Pam stated that “[the speakers’] expertise could help boost [the] students’ confidence in their performance for the upcoming play.”
TAGIS TALINO
TAGIS TALINO, organized by the Social Studies Department and the Kilusang Araling Panlipunan, took place on Day 3 at UPIS 7-12 Rm 121, where the 3-6 division ran from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. and the 7-12 division from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m.
The event concluded with Team 1 and Team B emerging as victors in the 3-6 division and the 7-12 division, respectively. Team 1 triumphed in the Tagis Talino 3-6 division, with members Oscar William Antonio, Rowan Cruz, Ilenea Amihan Baltazar, and Helina Elise Bautista. Meanwhile, in the high school division, Team B won with a whopping total of 25 points. The members of the said group are the following: Olivia Marie Bermudez, Patrick Bantigue, Princess Nina Espino, Cassaundra Allanne Bacolod, and Princess Sharmaine Callueng. All participating teams were composed of students from different grade levels.
The competition consisted of three rounds: Easy, Medium, and Hard, with questions focused on Filipino culture, history, and current events. The Easy round included 10 questions, each worth 1 point, with contestants given 15 seconds to answer. This was followed by the Medium round, which featured 7 questions valued at 2 points each, with a 20-second time limit. Lastly, the Hard round contained 5 questions, with 3 points awarded per correct answer and a 30-second time frame. This format was kept for both the 3-6 and 7-12 divisions.

Oct. 11 (UPI) -- High school students' ACT college admission scores continued to tumble in 2023, falling to their lowest point in more than 30 years and marking a lack of college preparedness, the nonprofit organization that administers the exam said Tuesday.
Average scores in every academic subject on the exam declined for six consecutive years, ACT CEO Janet Godwin said. Students are leaving high school without meeting college readiness benchmarks, but GPAs continue to rise and student say they feel prepared for college academic success.
Students in the class of 2023, called the "COVID cohort," were in their first year of high school when the pandemic reached the United States. The number of COVID cohort seniors not meeting any ACT college readiness benchmarks reached historic highs in 2023, the organization said.
"The hard truth is that we are not doing enough to ensure that graduates are truly ready for postsecondary success in college and career. These systemic problems require sustained action and support at the policy level," Godwin said. "This is not up to teachers and principals alone -- it is a shared national priority and imperative."
The average ACT composite test score fell to 19.5 out of 36 for the class of 2023, a decline from 19.8 points in 2022. A composite score is the average of the four test sections (math, science, reading and English). The average scores in math, reading and science were below the ACT college readiness benchmarks for those subjects.
College systems in some states, including California, have dropped standardized tests as part of the admissions process. The tests have long been criticized as discriminatory.

Small but Painful Problems in Homeopathy that ERP Can Solve — and Why It Matters
In the world of alternative medicine, homeopathy has established itself as a trusted, patient-centric approach. Rooted in centuries-old principles, it continues to gain traction globally. Yet, while homeopathy may be gentle in treatment, its business operations often face some unexpectedly harsh realities. Behind the counter, practitioners and pharmacy managers struggle with inefficiencies that, while seemingly small, can cause significant operational pain over time.
As homeopathic pharmacies and clinics evolve, the adoption of technology — particularly ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems — is becoming more than just a smart move; it’s a necessary one. Let’s take a closer look at the subtle, often overlooked problems in homeopathy practices and how an ERP system specifically designed for this field can offer game-changing solutions.
The Small Problems That Hurt Big
1. Inventory Management Challenges
Managing hundreds of potencies, product variations, and expiration dates is complex. Without real-time stock updates, pharmacies may overstock on less-used remedies or run out of critical ones.
Homeopathy-specific ERPs like HOST Homeo ERP offer features like real-time stock tracking, expiry and depletion alerts, and even back-dated stock visibility. Inventory is updated automatically, and expiry alerts help reduce waste.
2. Billing and Invoicing Discrepancies
From POS billing errors to missing patient payments, financial mismanagement adds unnecessary stress to running a homeopathy practice.
Automated billing with support for multiple payment types (cash, UPI, credit, split invoices) ensures seamless transactions. The customer-wise outstanding tracking feature ensures nothing falls through the cracks.
3. Lack of Data Analytics for Patient Outcomes
Without analytics, practices are essentially flying blind — unable to track what works, what sells, or how patients respond over time.
ERP platforms generate powerful, actionable reports. Practitioners can analyse trends in patient care, track which remedies are in high demand, and monitor operational KPIs. Better data means better decisions.
The Broader Benefits: More Than Just Problem-Solving
While ERP systems are excellent at addressing specific issues, their real power lies in how they transform operations on a larger scale. Some key benefits include:
Time Savings: Automations across billing, stock tracking, and reporting drastically cut down time spent on administrative tasks.
Error Reduction: From expired stock alerts to group potency management, ERP ensures fewer costly mistakes.
Improved Patient Experience: Faster service and improved functionality enhance overall satisfaction.
Stronger Financial Oversight: Built-in ledgers, outstanding reports, and rate lists help manage cash flow with confidence.
Scalability: Whether managing one store or multiple branches, ERP systems like HOST Homeo ERP grow with your business.
Why Homeopathy Needs ERP — Now More Than Ever
In an increasingly digital world, even traditionally manual fields like homeopathy need to embrace smart technologies. The "small" problems — stock outs, manual billing errors etc can compound and lead to bigger setbacks. ERP systems don't just fix these issues; they lay the foundation for sustainable growth, improved service quality, and peace of mind.
HOST Homeo ERP, for instance, brings together everything from expiry tracking to centralized purchase planning — all within a single, cloud-based solution that supports both offline and online operations. It’s not just an upgrade; it’s a complete transformation.
Final Thoughts
If you’re a homeopathy practitioner or pharmacy owner still relying on spreadsheets and manual processes, it’s time to check out the Homeo ERP software Kerala: how many small problems are eating into your time, profits, and patient trust?
ERP systems like HOST Homeo ERP are tailored to your specific needs — designed not just to manage your business, but to empower it.

How Can LIC Merchant Portal Login Improve Customer Service Efficiency?
Tumblr media
In an age where digital convenience is key, policyholders expect more than just insurance—they expect quick service, real-time updates, and personalized support. That’s where the LIC Merchant Portal login comes in. Designed by the Life Insurance Corporation of India, this powerful digital platform helps LIC agents and merchants streamline operations and improve customer service quality.
In this article, we’ll explore how the LIC Merchant Portal helps agents work smarter, faster, and more efficiently—while enhancing customer satisfaction in 2025.
What Is LIC Merchant Portal Login?
The LIC Merchant Portal login is a secure, online workspace provided by the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC). It allows registered LIC agents and merchants to perform essential policy-related services for their clients. With this tool, agents can access policy records, collect premiums, update customer details, and process service requests—all from one central dashboard.
The goal is to eliminate paperwork, reduce in-person visits, and empower agents to deliver prompt and professional service from anywhere, at any time.
Why Is Efficient Customer Service Important?
For insurance providers like LIC, customer service is about trust. People depend on LIC for long-term financial protection, savings, and security. Delayed replies and service faults can damage trust. In contrast, fast and transparent communication builds loyalty.
That’s why tools like the LIC Merchant Portal are crucial—they help agents serve policyholders faster, answer queries accurately, and resolve problems with minimal delays.
Key Ways LIC Merchant Portal Login Enhances Customer Service
1. Faster Premium Collection
One of the biggest tasks for LIC agents is collecting premiums. With the portal:
Agents can instantly check premium due dates.
Accept payments online via UPI, net banking, or debit/credit cards.
Generate real-time receipts for policyholders.
This helps avoid late payments, lapses, and unnecessary policy cancellations. Customers appreciate timely reminders and quick transactions.
2. Real-Time Policy Updates
Customers often want to know the status of their policy—whether it's active, in grace period, or eligible for maturity. Through the portal, agents can:
Instantly look up policy status by entering the policy number.
Share accurate, real-time information with customers.
Offer follow-ups on premium dues, loan availability, or upcoming benefits.
This minimizes confusion and builds transparency.
3. Quicker Service Requests
Previously, updating details or requesting a policy loan required a visit to the LIC office. Now, agents can submit:
Name or address corrections
Mobile/email updates
Loan or surrender requests
All these can be done digitally via the LIC Merchant Portal, saving time for both agent and customer.
4. 24/7 Access for Agents
Unlike regular office hours, the LIC Merchant Portal is available around the clock. Agents can:
Log in anytime—even during holidays
Assist customers in different time zones
Handle urgent requests without delay
This 24/7 availability dramatically improves the service experience for policyholders.
5. Secure and Transparent Transactions
Every transaction processed through the portal—whether a premium payment or policy update—is recorded. This ensures:
Greater accountability
Clear payment trails
Easily retrievable receipts or records
For customers, this builds confidence and trust in both the agent and LIC as a brand.
6. Reduces Dependency on Physical Branches
Many customers live in remote or rural areas where visiting an LIC branch is difficult. The portal allows agents to serve clients without needing them to travel. This:
Saves time and transportation costs
Ensures continuous service
Makes LIC’s reach more inclusive
Especially in post-pandemic times, digital service is more valuable than ever.
7. Instant Notifications and Reminders
With built-in SMS or email integrations, agents can notify customers about:
Due premiums
Grace period deadlines
Maturity amounts
Policy anniversaries
Customers appreciate reminders, and this proactive approach boosts renewals and long-term retention.
Smart Tips for Agents to Maximize the Portal
To get the most out of the LIC Merchant Portal, agents should:
Log in daily to stay updated on due policies.
Use the portal on mobile or tablet for quick access while on the go.
Update client data regularly to avoid delays in claims or services.
Maintain digital records for easy retrieval and client communication.
Encourage customers to go paperless by receiving receipts and updates via email or WhatsApp.
Security Measures to Keep Data Safe
Since customer data is sensitive, agents must follow security protocols:
Don’t share login credentials
Use strong passwords
Always log out after use
Avoid using the portal on public Wi-Fi
Regularly change passwords and verify contact details
LIC ensures encrypted data flow, and agents must also be vigilant in protecting client information.
What’s New in 2025?
LIC has upgraded the Merchant Portal with new features in 2025 to make service even smoother:
Faster login using OTP authentication
Mobile-optimized portal for smartphones
AI-based dashboard showing high-priority customers
Multi-lingual interface for regional agents
Quick settlement options for minor policy changes
These upgrades empower agents to work more effectively while delivering personalized service.
Conclusion
The LIC Merchant Portal login is more than just a convenience—it’s a powerful customer service tool. In 2025, when speed, clarity, and digital access define customer satisfaction, this portal helps LIC agents deliver all three.
By using the portal to collect payments, manage policies, and provide timely updates, agents not only grow their own business but also build long-term trust with policyholders.

FEATURE: Flipping through the journey of UPIS Pep Squad Batch ‘24
Tumblr media
Walking down memory lane with the UPIS Pep Squad '24, we reflect on a journey filled with dedication, spirit, and hard work. From joining the team and facing challenges to now saying farewells as they graduate with the brightest smiles, these seniors have left a permanent mark on our school's history, symbolizing the true essence of teamwork and perseverance.
Imparting reflections and words of advice are three seniors—Cheska Yanga, dancer; Vince Lagunilla, head drummer; and Triani Reyes, drummer—and their coach, Ey Calso.
Joining any varsity team is a decision driven by a passion for a certain sport and a desire to take on challenges. For Yanga, their journey began unexpectedly.
"I joined because I was interested in what they do and wanted to try something new," said Yanga. Transitioning from the swimming team to the pep squad as a Grade 7 student, Yanga was encouraged to try out and join the team by her batchmates, unaware that it would lead her to staying as a pep squad dancer until the end of her high school years.
Others were captivated by the performances of the senior members of the UPIS Pep Squad back then when they were in elementary.
"I joined because of the strong aura of the team, but mainly the drummers during events. I enjoyed the presence they have during games and the energy they give to the crowd," stated Lagunilla.
The hype around the UPIS Pep Squad never seemed to die down, particularly for Batch 2024.
"I joined because all of my friends couldn't stop talking about it and I got curious. Since I didn't have anything else to do at home, I tried it and ended up loving it," said Reyes.
This mix of curiosity, inspiration, and passion has created a unique bond among the Pep '24 members, shaping their high school experience in unforgettable ways.
Every sport has its own challenges to overcome. Yanga shared that one of the hurdles they faced during their time on the team was time management.
"There was a time where I had a lot of extracurricular activities that it became so difficult to juggle all of it all at once," Yanga said. Eventually, she managed to overcome it by organizing and planning her tasks in advance.
Another significant challenge was the emotional impact of the isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic. "When the pandemic came, all of my problems came together, and I was forced to stop training because I was losing interest and time for the things I love,” shared Reyes.
Reyes had to pause and take a rest, gradually increasing her training days over time. This process reminded her of the main reason she loved being part of the pep squad, which helped her overcome her sadness.
For others, the challenge was a lack of skills when they first joined the team.
"Being a cheerleader has a very high demand for skills. As a new member, I was weak and scrawny, but with the help of hard work, physical conditioning, teamwork, and listening to the coach, I greatly improved my performance," said Lagunilla.
These individual challenges were nothing to these incredible athletes as they moved forward with determination to overcome all of them. Over the years, they evolved, learning valuable life lessons that extended far beyond the cheerleading mat. They discovered the importance of doing things wholeheartedly and enjoying every moment with their teammates.
"Throughout the years that I have stayed with the team, I have learned a lot of different things. Being on a team surrounded by the right people is a must for a varsity team. This can not only help an individual grow but also you as a team. I learned to do things wholeheartedly and enjoy every moment I have with them, no matter what. Being on the team hopefully made me a better ‘ate’ to them," said Yanga.
"[Being a part of the pep squad] reminds me that I'm never alone, and whenever life gets tough, the people in the pep squad are always here to cheer me up, support me, and provide a shoulder to lean on when I can't pick myself up. The pep squad taught me to love and cherish every moment and to always have a smile on my face, which I believe has contributed to my personal growth into the person I am now," said Reyes.
On the same topic, Lagunilla, head drummer also shared, "Personally, I believe it changed me for the better. Physically, I am a lot stronger and more suited for physical activities compared to back then. However, in the non-physical aspects of my growth, I feel more comfortable, confident, and respected."
Coach Ey Calso, reflecting on the journey of Pep '24, expressed pride in the growth and achievements of the seniors.
"Every single day that I had the chance to be with my Batch ‘24 pep babies was a rewarding experience for me as a coach. All the members of the team, especially our seniors, have always been really passionate, disciplined, and skilled in everything they do in our training sessions," shared the coach.
He also shared that, in addition to honing their craft and consistently showing progress as drummers and dancers in the pep squad, the seniors always guided their teammates, particularly the younger ones, to ensure everyone learned and made the most of training sessions.
Mx. Calso also highlighted the exemplary work output of these athletes, stating, "Their work output was done excellently and really well thought-out. Any task given to them was seamlessly delivered and performed.”
As Pep Squad '24 prepares to graduate, Mx. Calso shares one final message of gratitude: "It's really heartbreaking to let them go. It's like letting your kids experience the world and finally be independent, then falling and standing back up on their own. I am very confident that they can take on the world with so much pride and love in their hearts. I can't wait to see them ace all the challenges and trials that college has to offer. I am proud that I was able to be part of their high school lives. The team will surely miss them, but the lessons and experiences that we got from them will surely continue on to the next generations of the UPIS Pep Squad."
Some heartfelt farewells and good luck messages from Yanga, Reyes, and Lagunilla of the UPIS Pep Squad '24 echo sentiments of gratitude and hope for the team's future.
"As we graduate, I hope we can continue to support and guide them in their journeys ahead. The bonds and memories we've created will always hold a special place in my heart," Yanga expressed.
"I encourage you all to cherish every moment together and to learn to love and appreciate each other, despite any challenges we may face,” shared Reyes.
In addition to thanking their team, Reyes also shared a few words about their coach's hard work, saying, “Thank you for staying this long and giving us the moment/exposure we all deserve. I hope you continue supporting and being here with the team. I will always be grateful for the amount of hard work you do for us even if you don't benefit as much as you should.”
"To my fellow members of the UPIS Pep Squad, I wish you all the best of luck on your journey. I hope I've been able to impart some valuable lessons during my time as head drummer. Remember to enjoy yourselves while respecting your coach. Thank you all for the wonderful memories," added Lagunilla, head drummer of UPIS Pep Squad.
As Batch ‘24 of UPIS Pep Squad closes this chapter of their lives, they prove themselves being able to overcome hard challenges that come their way.
These athletes demonstrated dedication and resilience, leaving a lasting impact on each of their performances as well as the team.
One last “UP FIGHT!” for the UPIS Batch ‘24 who cheered and put smiles on our faces!
