I know you mentioned you had web development experience. Do you have any HTML/CSS courses you would recommend or people to follow or YouTube channels or anything? How did you learn it? I work in SEO and would like to get a better grasp on the web and coding side of things. Also good with your job search bestie!
thank you! i was self-taught and think that's the best/easiest way to learn. check out the code of a site you like, try to recreate it/mess with it on your own, make tumblr themes (for css)! i learned the essentials by making my own goofy websites on neocities. but i don't keep up with my education now, i have a good idea of the fundamentals. plus, unless you want to be a front-end developer, it's unlikely you'd need to know anything beyond basic html/css - most organizations probably use a cms like wordpress that allows you to implement templates and update things very easily without touching code. but understanding the basics can be helpful, it's definitely a plus.
but i have heard good things about university of michigan's course: https://online.umich.edu/series/web-design-for-everybody/ i believe it's free on coursera!

HI, so long time no talk! I haven't gone anywhere, I just had some personal financial troubles that were resolved via...lots of overtime! I am a physicist by day, so that meant I became one by night for a couple months. But I remained coding, designing, & sketching things in my scant moments.
More importantly, I've been doing a lot of reading & observing of the Jcink RPC & I am really gutted by the lack of free resources I've seen become manifest. As a result, I've been percolating some easy design methods I could use to fast track totally free skins to give out as bi-monthly as I can manage in the near future.
Because I'm not one to stick to an aesthetic or design style so much as following a settled philosophy of coding, each of my skins will be entirely unique (no reused assets besides utility scripts, perhaps fonts, etc) but will all be;
Designed to be entirely responsive, with fallback & default setups for Custom Fields, image appearance or omission, etc.
Designed to load in a second & half or under, universally.
Neatened to be readable, cascade-organized, & fully notated with CSS & HTML notes to explain important components, how they work, & how to edit them.
Provided with a dark, light, & middle theme colour option as well as High Contrast option.
Provided with Staff, Member & Character profile & miniprofiles.
Provided with a full Custom BBCode suite of site templates to match the skin.
Based on the UI/UX design of a game with striking visuals that can be used for similar genres.
Now, this is a tall order, but I really want to flex my muscle & try to give folks something to be optimistic over in a landscape of drama-blog wastelanded distress. I want to put out something productive & positive, to make the community better & bring us together a bit <3 As a result, I'm going to need a little help from you all. I need to figure out which "Inspos" to work off of first based on desire for them, to fill the starving niches from most important to "least" so to speak. For the next few weeks, I'll post some polls & would be endlessly grateful if you all paid it forward by boosting but also voting on the games whose vibes you want to see MOST PRESSINGLY manifested as skins in the Jcink RPC.
I will, also, eventually port each one to Forumactivo, so for my Forumactivo folks, please let me know when you get specific polls so I can prioritize converting those skins for you! You deserve just as much love!
Of course, if there's a specific game you want to see feel free to comment on this post & I'll make sure to put it in the first poll, but for now that's all. The first list of inspo options will come out later today or tomorrow, Stay tuned & stay awesome, may the Dance keep you all absolutely blessed!

Hi, I'm Yuri. I made this account during my ✨preteen cringe phase✨ and I didn't use it for much. It was forgotten for years, but a few months ago I got reminded of its existence. Still, I only used it to like post and occasionally comment. About a week and half ago I was like "I'mma make an Uberhood in The Sims 2". While researching how to do it, I found Pixu's account ( https://pixuou.tumblr.com/ultimatehood https://youtu.be/qIQ4lD_ynJI?si=o0JYn1pEDX9YBuC4 ) and got inspired to use Tumblr as a way to record my gameplay and stories I make about the little pixel people. For those who want to know me a little better, I'm a sleep-deprived biotechnology student from Poland. I'm a lesbian in 20s, who's often described as chaotic. Also, from time to time, I might post art since I like to draw. And I enabled the ask option, if anyone is interested in that. So back to the Hyperfixationhood- Uberhood... Basically, it's a way to play every The Sims 2 neighborhood on one savefile. The setup is fairly easy, you need to pick your main hood and then add other ones as subhoods. I'm playing with Pleasantview as my main hood with added Strangetown, Veronaville, Bluewater Village, Riverblossom Hills, Desiderata Valley, Belladonna Cove, and a custom Downtown ( https://katatty.tumblr.com/post/645638968277417984/im-delighted-to-present-at-last-my-fully-madeover I think it doesn't have any Sims, but adds extra space). I also added all 3 universities (Sim State University, Academie Le Tour, La Fiesta Tech), all 3 vacation destinations (Takemizu Village, Three Lakes, Twikkii Island), and all the Sims from the Stealth Hoods. I use the clean versions for each of those. That was the easy part. Because of the discovery of baby face templates ( https://youtu.be/MFhXpq8E8eQ?si=BWxl77sX-Rg5dmFC ), I decided I wanted my Sims to have genetic infant faces. Every hood had its "babyfied" version. ...Except Belladonna Cove and Desiderata Valley. But I found a tutorial by ivycopur on how to create Sims with baby face templates ( https://ivycopur.dreamwidth.org/439.html ), so I was like "I'mma do it myself". Honestly, it wasn't that hard, just took a lot of time. General gameplay information and rules:
- I'm playing rotationally with each family, but the order of the households varies.
* The very first round (Round 0) will last 2 days, and the rest of the rounds will last 6 days.
- I made myself a custom livespan and custom pregnancy duration, using this tutorial https://s2idownloads.blogspot.com/2016/10/new-tutorial-create-new-pregnancyspan.html?m=1
* Sim pregnancy lasts 36 h, and pet pregnancy lasts 12-24 h.
* 1 day = 6 months
Baby - 2 days (0 - 1 year)
Toddler - 10 days (1 - 6 years)
Child - 14 days (6 - 13 years)
Teen - 18 days (13 - 22 years)
Adult - 76 days (22 - 60 years)
Elder - 20- 40 days (70 - 80 years)
- I'm marking the starting year as 2004 since that's when the game was released. Plus it will be funny when I eventually get into the far future, but the technology won't change much.
- I'm helping myself in choosing my Sims aspirations, one true hobby, and job with the help of a calculator made by Marticore ( https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/15qEDgAZI6Lk8IGKfRmemPYftl5n-mmjOt2CyA5e8dmY/edit?gid=1882396550#gid=1882396550 ). I use it for inspiration often.
- I'm using ACR to choose my Sims' sexuality when they become teenagers, but sometimes I pick it myself if I find it fitting (for example, I headcanon Beau Broke as a gay man when he grows up).
- I'm using several supernatural mods that change the mechanics of occult Sims, found in this video https://youtu.be/FcbEoMHxpo8?si=9hNBwhv9HjEiv6Zl , but I only picked some of them. The most notable ones I added to my game are Alien superpowers, children and teen Plantsims, toddler and child Vampires, child Werewolves, toddler and child Witches, and Fairies as a new occult.
* I have supernatural skins as custom skin tones ( https://modthesims.info/download.php?t=284759 ), and I will change Sim's genetics if they become occult (for example, a Plantsim will get a Plantsim skin in their DNA).
- I'm using The Traits Project mod, which adds The Sims 3 traits to The Sims 2 ( https://hexagonal-bipyramid.tumblr.com/traitsProject ), and the farmhand trait ( https://fireflowersims.tumblr.com/post/651840507529543680/the-3t2-traits-and-the-medieval-caste-expansion ).
* I will randomize Sim's traits, but if a Sim gives me a specific vibe, I will pick a trait myself.
* Toddlers get 2 traits, children get 3 traits, teenagers get 4 traits, and adults (and elders) get 5 traits.
* Each Sim will get at least one trait after mom and at least one trait after dad.
* I also have a chronic illness trait mod ( https://modthesims.info/download.php?t=673581 ). I will give it to my Sims if the pregnancy passes terribly, if the Death by Childbirth mod takes effect, or if it fits story-wise.
- I'm playing kind of half wants-based. I'm going to use the Sims' wants to help influence the story, but they won't be the main deciding factor. I don't want every Sim to turn out the same, and I do have some stories planned.
- Knowledge Sims always go to college, Sims with other aspirations go if they have a want at the end of the teen lifestage, or if it fits the story. The Capp family always goes to college. College is frozen time for those Sims, they don't age there.
- If more than half of the household has corresponding wants to get a pet, they will get one.
- I’m working on a spreadsheet that will help me track and control my gameplay. ( https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1O0DuFTiIFk5nLzxGj3mWXrXrlPaCKBp5iXRbJfvoJSw/edit?usp=sharing ) Also, I'm going to mark my Uberhood posts with the tag "Organized Chaos in Uberhood". The neighborhoods I used - https://www.tumblr.com/yurithechaoslord/778671800905351168/heres-the-list-of-links-to-the-neighborhoods-i?source=share

hhhow do you do this whole rp thing i kinda started a blog and it got absolutely ignored (pamabutnormalthistime)
probably didnt missed a step idk ive never done it before
Tumblr media
I'm sending you the biggest of hugs, anon- starting a new blog is equal parts scary and exciting!! I’m sorry that you haven’t gotten the response you’ve been wanting; I just got the chance to go follow you (yippee!!!) and I also hope this answer can serve as a promo for @pamabutnormalthistime too!! 💜☺️ I put my long answer under a readmore for you!!
The Tumblr roleplay community (you might see this get referred to as the rpc!!) is really fun thing to be a part of, even if it’s daunting to join for the first time!! A lot of making a new blog is subject entirely to what you want it to have- but there are little features you can add that’ll help you organize things to your liking!!
When I started here it was my first ever time making any sort of rp blog- a lot of the beginner’s guides I found were older and spoke about processes that aren’t used as much in roleplay today!! This handy post here explains a lot of the terminology that you might see floating around- and this guide on the same blog walks you through some of the basics too!!
Your blog can be anything you want it to be! If you want it to have an aesthetic sort of theme that fits your muse (character), there are loads of custom HTML themes out there that you can apply to your blog on desktop!! But it’s also okay if you don’t add a theme too- you can let your writing speak for itself!
Some things that I found really helpful to add to this blog were a Rules post, an About post, and a small Mun section talking a bit about me!! Rules pages aren’t necessary, but they’re really helpful for setting boundaries for what sorts of things you are or aren’t okay with on your blog!! (An example is “Will/won’t respond to NSFW asks, please don’t hound for replies unless it’s been one week…") It’s a nice way to keep yourself safe, and also detail how you’ll be writing with anything that gets sent in! (And it's also a nice way for you to quickly learn about any pages you'd like to interact with!) 💜
An About post (or page) can be really helpful for detailing basic information about your muse!! If you’re writing a canon-divergent version of a character, or you have a special backstory that you’ve fleshed out, this section is a wonderful place to put it!! Having an About post can help others see how you’ve made your muse your own, and it can be really exciting to type out even small mundane facts (like height, eye color) to give your character more life!! Some roleplayers also like to include a list of verses in their About section- if you create different universes for your muse from interacting with different medias, or exploring different AUs in your character's story, it can be a nice place to keep track of them all!!
Having a section about you (the mun!!) can be helpful too, but it’s entirely based on your comfort!! A lot of roleplayers will include basic information on themselves (like age, general activity levels, etc…)
You don’t have to include a Mun section, and you’re never obligated to give out any information about yourself!! (You can always use my Mun page- or any of my other pages- as a template for your own!! I won’t mind!! 💜😊)
Once you’re happy with how your blog is formatted, you can consider making a promo for your blog!! A promo can be any post that helps advertise your blog to other roleplayers, and it doesn’t have to be complicated or anything fancy! (Here is an example of the promo I made for this blog, which is in character and pretty simple!! This is an example of a promo I made for a newer blog of mine, which keeps things short and lists off the basics of the blog! Because my rp blogs are sideblogs, me liking a thread will show my main has liked it instead of the actual rp blog- so until Tumblr allows us to change blogs before we like things, I always like to give people I’m interacting with a heads up that the random personal blog in their notifications is still me!! 😊)
A promo doesn’t have to be either of those things, though- it can be something as simple as “Like/Reblog this post if you’re interested in writing with [character]”, and it’ll still do just as fine!! One of the best things about promos is that other rp blogs can reblog them to help boost your exposure!!! (Which I can guarantee will be happening on my end!! 😌)
Something else you might want (but 100% don't have to get!!) is XKit Rewritten!! It's a plugin for your browser designed specifically for Tumblr, and has a whole host of features that you can use to customize your scrolling experience!! I use it specifically for the "Trim Reblogs" option, which lets me trim threads I've been writing with others to keep them short when they go across people's dashes!! (You might've seen some threads on my blog that seem to start with my mutual's last reply, and only feature my add on- that's the work of the trimming feature!! It cuts out all the earlier replies from the reblog, but they're still accessible!)
If you're interested, you can add it for Chrome here and for Firefox here!! (*It's super important to add XKitRewritten and not any other versions- XKitRewritten is designed specifically for the version of Tumblr we have right now, and other versions are older and might not cooperate!!)
If you notice some of the colors in my writing (such as the shade of red I use for Ellie's dialogue, or the other colors you might see in this post) are different from the default options Tumblr gives you, that's because I'm using https://roleplayformatter.carrd.co!! It's not a necessity, but I like pasting my writing in there and copying the source code to add new colors to my writing, and help me format things in one place!! (It's fun to type into, but it doesn't save your writing!! 😂 So it only gets what I'm getting ready to post when there's another copy somewhere!!)
And these are just some of the basics!! There are other things you can add if you’d really like to! (Like icons, which you might’ve seen me use on here from time to time- small pictures of your character that you can use to display their expressions and little mannerisms!! I like to think of icons as sprinkles- they’re never a necessity, and the main flavor focus is really your wonderful writing! But they can frame and accompany what you write if you’d like them to! 💜)
Assets (like the red stone border at the very top of this answer!) can be made yourself, gathered from source blogs like @animatedglittergraphics-n-more, or even requested/commissioned from resource blogs!! I make all of my assets myself in PicsArt, and it’s a lot of fun- but also something I know everyone might not have the energy or time to do!! If icons and assets aren't for you, that's okay- it's never stopped me from interacting with anyone before!!
I hope this beast of an answer helps you out, and I especially hope it doesn’t seem too complicated- I think the Tumblr rpc can be for anyone and everyone, and I’m so excited to go check out your blog after I post this!! 💜💜 You’re always welcome back here (whether that’s on anon or in DMS!!) if there’s anything else I can help you out with, or if you’d just like to say hello!! I hope you have a really wonderful rest of your day- I’m so excited to write with you sometime!! ☺️

5 Things No One Tells You About Web Development (But You Need to Know)
So, you want to build a website? Or maybe you're just curious about how people even start web development?
Here’s the truth: web development isn’t just typing code in a dark room with 12 tabs open (okay, sometimes it is). It’s actually one of the most creative and powerful skills you can learn — whether you’re launching a business, a blog, or just your personal portfolio.
But here’s what nobody tells you 👇
1. You Don’t Need to Know Everything to Start
People think you need to master HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, MySQL, and 17 frameworks before you’re “ready.” Nope. Start simple.
Build ugly websites. Break things. Fix them.
That’s how real devs learn. No shame in starting with Google and a basic template.
2. Website Builders Are Cool… Until They’re Not
Wix, Squarespace, and Shopify? Awesome if you’re in a hurry. But the moment you want something custom — boom 💥 — you hit a wall. Want a unique layout? A custom checkout page? Dynamic filters? Good luck. That’s when real web development gives you freedom.
3. Design > Code (Sometimes)
You could write the cleanest code in the universe… …but if your site is ugly or hard to use, no one will care. Web dev isn’t just coding — it’s creating experiences.
Your website should feel good to click around. (Pro tip: Start thinking like a user, not just a coder.)
4. Mobile-First or Go Home
People are scrolling on phones, not desktops. If your site looks weird on mobile, you’ve already lost half your audience.
Responsive design isn’t a bonus anymore. It’s a basic rule. Tools like Flexbox, Grid, and media queries are your best friends here.
5. You’ll Never “Finish” Your Website
You’ll always find bugs, better features, or something you want to redesign. That’s part of the fun. Websites evolve — just like your ideas.
So don’t wait for perfect. Launch your site. Tweak it as you grow.
Conclusion
Web development isn’t magic — it’s just logic, curiosity, and practice.
Whether you’re learning it, hiring someone, or just exploring the tech world — understanding how websites are built puts you ahead of the game. It helps you think smarter, create better, and build stuff people actually use.
Want help building a custom website that doesn’t look like everyone else’s?

Creative Coding: Shaping the Future of Web Development in Ahmedabad
In the fast-moving digital age, websites are more than just online brochures; they're interactive platforms that shape customer experiences, build trust, and drive sales. And as businesses increasingly rely on the web to connect with users, web development services in Ahmedabad are taking center stage.
Ahmedabad, once known primarily for textiles and heritage, is now a thriving digital innovation hub. From startups to large enterprises, businesses across industries are turning to skilled web developers to create visually stunning, high-performance websites that stand out in crowded digital spaces.
But what’s powering this transformation? The answer lies in creative coding, a fusion of logic and design, where web developers blend technical expertise with artistic thinking to craft unforgettable digital experiences.
In this article, we’ll dive deep into how creative coding is revolutionizing web development services in Ahmedabad, the tools and trends leading this evolution, and why businesses can’t afford to ignore it in 2025 and beyond.
What Is Creative Coding?
Creative coding refers to the practice of using code not just to make websites function—but to make them come alive.
This approach combines traditional development skills (like HTML, CSS, JavaScript, backend logic) with artistic elements like animation, interactivity, 3D visuals, and custom graphics. The result? Websites that don’t just inform but wow visitors.
Instead of static, templated layouts, developers use creative coding to:
Animate elements as users scroll
Build immersive storytelling pages
Integrate motion graphics or WebGL
Create responsive interactions based on user behavior
This style of development is transforming how users engage with websites and Ahmedabad is quickly emerging as a hotspot for this new digital craft.
Why Ahmedabad? The Rise of a Digital Powerhouse
Ahmedabad didn't become a digital tech hub in a day. Over the past 10 years, the city has gone through:
A surge in IT parks and startup incubators
Skilled tech graduates from institutes like Nirma University and DAIICT
Affordable cost structures for development work
Global clientele outsourcing to Ahmedabad-based firms
Strong support from the Gujarat government’s Digital India push
These factors have created the perfect ecosystem for innovation in web development.
Today, you’ll find Ahmedabad-based agencies building everything from corporate websites and eCommerce platforms to interactive art portfolios and immersive storytelling websites all powered by creative coding.
How Creative Coding Is Changing Web Development
Let’s explore how creative coding is driving the next wave of web development services in Ahmedabad.
1. Immersive User Experiences
Gone are the days of static websites. Now, users want dynamic, scroll-triggered animations, 3D visuals, and micro-interactions that feel smooth and engaging.
Developers are leveraging:
GSAP (GreenSock Animation Platform) for fluid animations
Three.js for creating 3D elements in-browser
Framer Motion and Lottie for stunning motion effects
With these tools, Ahmedabad-based developers create memorable digital journeys that reflect brand identity and hook users within seconds.
2. Personalized Interactions
Today's websites monitor user behavior and adjust the experience instantly to match their needs.
Creative coding allows developers to:
Change visuals based on user location or behavior
Load content dynamically
Build intelligent interfaces that “talk” to the user
Use parallax effects and scroll-based animations for storytelling
These enhancements increase dwell time and conversion rates especially for brands in fashion, tech, education, and hospitality.
3. Cross-Device Consistency
Whether someone visits your site on a laptop, tablet, or mobile, the experience needs to feel seamless. Creative coders optimize everything from loading speed to touch gestures.
Using responsive frameworks and creative logic, they ensure:
Layouts adapt fluidly across devices
Animations feel natural on all screen sizes
Touch-based interactivity is smooth and intuitive
This commitment to design thinking sets Ahmedabad’s developers apart from generic, template-based solutions.
4. SEO and Performance Are Still Key
While creativity is important, performance and SEO can’t be ignored. That’s why the best web development services in Ahmedabad follow Google’s Core Web Vitals and SEO guidelines, ensuring:
Fast load times
Optimized assets (images, fonts, videos)
Proper HTML semantics for accessibility
Structured metadata and schema markup
Clean, secure, scalable code
In other words, you get beauty and brains in one package.
Tumblr media
Real-World Use Cases from Ahmedabad
Let’s look at how creative coding is helping real businesses in Ahmedabad:
An Art Gallery Website
Using JavaScript canvas and WebGL, developers built an interactive gallery with 360° views of artwork, real-time zoom features, and hover-triggered animations.
Fashion eCommerce Store
A Shopify-based fashion brand worked with a creative team to develop animated lookbooks, AR try-on features, and personalized styling tips, resulting in a 35% increase in average session time.
Healthcare Platform
A hospital worked with a web development company in Ahmedabad to build a platform that included animated patient onboarding, a live chatbot, and support for multiple languages making it easier to connect with patients in rural areas.
Tools Used by Creative Coders in Ahmedabad
Here's what’s commonly used:
HTML5 & CSS3 – for structure and advanced styling
JavaScript/TypeScript – core scripting language
React.js & Vue.js – for building interactive UI
GSAP & Anime.js – for professional animations
Three.js & WebGL – for 3D visuals
TailwindCSS & Bootstrap – responsive design frameworks
Figma/Adobe XD – UI/UX design prototyping
Headless CMS (e.g., Strapi, Contentful) – for scalable content
The use of these tools reflects a global standard making Ahmedabad developers competitive worldwide.

Diving Deep into the Angular Platform: What You Need to Know
The Angular Development platform is more than just a framework—it’s a comprehensive ecosystem designed for building powerful, maintainable, and scalable web applications. Built and maintained by Google, Angular brings a structured, opinionated architecture that streamlines both development and testing.
🔍 Core Concepts That Define Angular
Modules: Angular apps are modular by design. Each module encapsulates functionality and can be lazy-loaded, improving app performance and organization.
Components: These are the building blocks of Angular apps. Each UI piece is encapsulated in a reusable component with its own logic and view.
Templates: Angular uses declarative HTML-based templates combined with data binding and directives to create dynamic views.
Services & Dependency Injection: Services handle business logic and data operations. Angular’s DI system ensures they’re reusable and testable.
Routing: Angular’s powerful router enables single-page application (SPA) behavior with seamless navigation between views.
RxJS & Observables: Reactive programming is at the heart of Angular. RxJS makes asynchronous tasks (like HTTP calls or user input) more manageable and powerful.
🚀 Advanced Angular Development Features You Shouldn’t Miss
Ahead-of-Time (AOT) Compilation: Boosts performance by compiling templates during the build process instead of at runtime.
Angular CLI: A powerful command-line tool that accelerates development with boilerplate generation, build tools, testing utilities, and more.
Change Detection: Angular uses an efficient change detection mechanism to keep the UI in sync with data, minimizing manual DOM manipulation.
Internationalization (i18n): Angular provides built-in support for multilingual apps and global user bases.
Security: With built-in protection against XSS and CSRF, Angular is built with security in mind from the ground up.
🌐 The Angular Development Ecosystem and Community
Angular is not just a framework—it’s an active, vibrant ecosystem supported by Google and a global community of developers. With regular updates, detailed documentation, and a wide range of plugins and libraries, developers can continually build innovative applications with confidence.
From tools like Angular Material to integrations with Firebase, GraphQL, and more, Angular offers flexibility and extensibility for modern enterprise development.
✅ When Should You Choose Angular?
Angular is an ideal choice for:
Large-scale enterprise web applications
Projects requiring long-term maintainability
Apps needing structured architecture and code organization
Dynamic SPAs with real-time data updates
Cross-platform solutions including PWAs and mobile-ready web apps

Universal Scroll Button(Autochange Direction) For Any Host
Hey, do you have a site with a lot of forums? Does your host allow you to use Javascript? Boy does this weirdo have a deal for you! For the low low price of free, you can get right now access to a scroll button that swaps directions when you scroll automatically, as well as changing the target & title on hover! Act fast, this deal won't last! I kid, but enough of the ShamWowery. In reality, this is a very simple script that reads how far you have scrolled a window, & applies or removes a class to your scroll button, as well as changing the target of said scroll button & adjusting the title to reflect which way it will take you!
It's so simple, crediting me seems superfluous but if you want, feel free to credit with a link to my blog <3 I hope the new verse of our song is eminently kind to everyone!
See it In Action(Click, or look Below):
I currently use this code on two different WIPS, so feel free to check out some gifs;
Tumblr media Tumblr media
To Begin
Before the end of your </body> tag in your wrappers(for Jcink) or wherever the HTML templates go on other sites, you want to place this script:
<script> $(window).scroll(function() { if ($(this).scrollTop() > 800) { $('#scroll').attr("title","To Top?").attr("href","#Top").addClass('totop'); } else { $('#scroll').attr("title", "To Bottom?").attr("href","#Bottom").removeClass('totop'); } });</script>
This seeks out an id of Scroll to adjust the href & title as needed depending on the scroll position within the relevant window. The scroll amount is in px, so to change how quickly it changes the button, alter the number 800 to whatever you desire, fiddle with it; one size never fits all.
The Styling
Once you've saved that, move to your CSS, or wherever your Style tag is to add styling for the link itself. Keep in mind the link should be contained within a container that handles its positioning for it as otherwise the script will fuck with the positioning as well as the transformation & you really just want it to spin upwards.
The styling for the link should be as follows;
#scroll { display: inline-block; positioning: relative; transform: rotate(0deg); transition: transform .5s ease-in-out; /*** ^ change the .5s to alter duration or the ease-in-out to alter the timing of the transition between button states ***/ }
#scroll.totop { transform: rotate(180deg); }
The first statement defines the default state (linking to the bottom) of the scroll button on the load of the page, the second defines the change of position once the window has been scrolled far enough to activate one's script.
The HTML
Now you've got the behaviour defined via JS & the styling defined via CSS, it's time to input the HTML, or the bone structure of the code itself. In your wrappers, template, or wherever HTML goes on your host, locate three places;
One, where you want the TOP scroll location to be. This is where the scroll button will take you once it has changed states on scrolling a certain distance. Here, you place an anchor span as follows;
<span id="Top"></span>
Two, Where you desire for the BOTTOM or BODY scroll location to be, as in where the scroll button will take you on click initially. This could also be a scroll to the start of content, in which case I recommend changing #Bottom & id="Bottom" respectively to reflect the syntax, it's entirely up to you. Here, you place an anchor span as follows;
<span id="Bottom"></span>
Finally, It's time to add the scroll button. Keep in mind, where you put it is a function of utility & design choice. Some like it persistently hovering in a fixed position, some like it in a sidebar or on userlinks, some prefer it in the navigation bar.
Wherever you place it, try to ensure that it's easily accessible on any device, screen size, & matches the User Interface logic you've used everywhere else. If you have all text buttons, don't use just an icon, if you have all icons, don't suddenly use just text. Match your action calls, so users don't feel confused while using your site.
Once you've decided where you want it, place the following code, NOTING that there should be a container for this code that positions it for you. I've provided two options; the Icon Font option (courtesy of Phosphoricons -- a free & reliable Icon Font I recommend -- As well as one which includes text, so both UI/UX design philosophies are accommodated.
Note the option with text will only rotate the caret from downwards to upwards, so the scroll text shouldn't need editing unless you want to add or supplement flavourtext.
Please choose the appropriate option for yourself;
Icon Font
<a id="scroll" class="ph-fill ph-caret-down"></a>
Icon Font with Text
<span>Scroll <a id="scroll" class="ph-fill ph-caret-down"></a>?</span>
Some Notes:
I just want to add a bit of info:
If your browser isn't scrolling smoothly to your anchors? Check your settings, & be sure the root of your CSS has scroll-behaviour: smooth; in it.
If you use this guide & have problems getting it to work, please let me know! I will troubleshoot this for you & tumblr has strange coding, I may have futzed something up, I want this to be as accessible as possible, so don't be silent; questions help!
If you are not using Jcink, or another host with a Jquery library pre-loaded, be aware that one is needed for this script to work. Most hosts will have a default Jquery library, but if yours doesn't or you're self hosting, any should do. The Jcink file is below, however, if you want to just use that.

Mastering Google Tag Manager: An Essential Guide for Every Marketer
Tumblr media
In today’s digital world, data-driven decisions are the backbone of successful marketing strategies. If you want to maximize your website's performance without getting too technical, Google Tag Manager (GTM) is your new best friend. GTM is a user-friendly tool that helps you manage and deploy various marketing tags (like Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, and conversion tracking) on your website. This means you can track, analyze, and optimize your marketing campaigns seamlessly—all without needing to touch your website’s code every time.
What is Google Tag Manager, and Why Does It Matter?
Google Tag Manager is a free tag management system (TMS) from Google. Instead of having to rely on a developer each time you want to add tracking codes to your website, you can use GTM to manage all your tags in one place. By adding one GTM container code to your website, you can effortlessly control which tags get fired based on user interactions or specific triggers, such as clicks or page views. This not only speeds up the process but also reduces the risk of breaking your website's code with repetitive, manual changes.
Key Benefits of Using Google Tag Manager
Simplifies Tag ManagementGTM gives marketers independence. No more waiting around for developers to add, remove, or edit tracking codes. Once set up, you can do all the work directly from GTM’s dashboard.
Enhances Site SpeedInstead of loading multiple scripts individually, Google Tag Manager enables you to load all tracking codes asynchronously, which can improve your website’s loading time. Better site speed is crucial for a great user experience and can even help with SEO.
Error Reduction and Debugging ToolsGoogle Tag Manager includes a built-in debugging console. This lets you preview tags in real-time, ensuring everything works as intended before publishing. This is a game-changer for tracking accuracy.
Increased Flexibility with Tag TriggeringYou can set up tags to trigger based on highly specific user actions. Whether it’s someone clicking a certain button, visiting a specific page, or even scrolling to a particular point on a page, GTM’s triggers make it easy to track interactions that matter to your business.
Setting Up Google Tag Manager: The Basics
Ready to get started? Here’s a simplified guide to setting up Google Tag Manager for your website.
Step 1: Create a Google Tag Manager Account
Go to the Google Tag Manager website and create a free account.
Add a new container (representing your website or app) to the account. Each container houses all the tags you’ll use for that property.
Step 2: Install the GTM Container Code on Your Website
After setting up your container, GTM will generate two code snippets. You’ll need to copy these snippets and add them to the HTML of your website—usually in the <head> and <body> sections. If you’re not comfortable doing this, many website platforms like WordPress and Shopify have plugins or integration options to make it easier.
Step 3: Add and Configure Tags in Google Tag Manager
Once your container code is live, head back to GTM’s dashboard to start adding tags. Tags are what allow you to track specific events or metrics. GTM offers templates for common tags, like Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, and conversion tracking tags for Google Ads.
Click on "New Tag" in the Tags section.
Choose your tag type. For instance, if you want to set up Google Analytics tracking, select that tag type.
Define triggers for your tag. For instance, if you want to track page views, set the trigger as “All Pages.”
Common Use Cases for Google Tag Manager
Google Tag Manager supports an endless array of tracking scenarios. Here are some of the most popular ways to use it:
1. Tracking Page Views with Google Analytics
Many businesses start with Google Analytics page view tracking. GTM makes it easy to set this up by using a built-in template for Universal Analytics or GA4.
2. Tracking Conversions with Google Ads
Tracking conversions, like form submissions or product purchases, is vital for understanding how effective your advertising campaigns are. GTM allows you to add conversion tracking tags that fire when users complete a desired action, helping you gauge the return on investment (ROI) for your ads.
3. Setting Up Remarketing Tags
Remarketing is an invaluable tool for re-engaging users who’ve visited your website but didn’t convert. GTM makes it easy to add Google Ads remarketing tags or Facebook Pixels so you can retarget users with personalized ads.
4. Tracking Button Clicks or Link Clicks
Interested in understanding which call-to-action buttons or links get the most engagement? GTM’s click triggers allow you to set up tags that fire every time a user clicks a specific element on your website.
Advanced Features to Explore in Google Tag Manager
Once you’re comfortable with GTM basics, you can explore its advanced features to gain even deeper insights.
1. Data Layer
The Data Layer is an invisible layer of code that GTM uses to pull structured data from your website. It can be used to capture more advanced information, like product details in e-commerce, user login status, or customer preferences. This feature is crucial for businesses with complex tracking needs, as it allows you to pull additional data points into GTM without additional coding.
2. Event Tracking
Event tracking in GTM enables you to monitor user interactions that go beyond simple page views. For instance, you can track when users click on specific links, submit forms, play videos, or even scroll to particular points on a page.
3. Cross-Domain Tracking
If your business has multiple domains or subdomains, you may want to track user behavior across these different sites. Cross-domain tracking allows you to connect sessions across domains, which is especially useful for understanding user journeys on complex website structures.
Optimizing Google Tag Manager for Better Performance
While GTM is already designed for speed, there are some practices that can help you keep things running smoothly.
Use Fewer TagsHaving too many tags can slow down your website, so only use the tags that are essential for your tracking needs. Consider combining tags or using custom HTML tags to minimize the number of requests.
Utilize the Built-In Variables and TriggersGTM has a variety of built-in variables and triggers that make it easy to set up new tags. Using these default options can often save you time and reduce the complexity of your GTM setup.
Regularly Test and Debug TagsGTM’s debug mode lets you preview tags before they go live, helping you troubleshoot and ensure everything works as expected. It’s wise to do regular testing, especially when you add new tags or modify existing ones.
Tag Firing PriorityBy default, GTM fires tags asynchronously, but you can adjust the firing priority for specific tags. For example, if you want conversion tracking tags to fire first, you can set them to a higher priority in GTM.
Google Tag Manager and SEO: The Perfect Pair
While Google Tag Manager doesn’t directly influence SEO rankings, it plays a key role in indirectly boosting your SEO efforts. Here’s how:
Enhanced Page Speed: GTM helps optimize page load times by managing asynchronous tag loading, which keeps your website fast and responsive—a factor that impacts SEO.
Accurate Analytics Tracking: With GTM, you can set up advanced tracking for bounce rate, session duration, and other engagement metrics. Having clean data gives you a better sense of user behavior, allowing you to improve user experience—a key SEO factor.
User Behavior Insights: With GTM, you can track deeper user interactions, from scroll depth to form fills, giving you insight into what engages your audience the most. You can then tailor your content and SEO strategy based on these insights.
Google Tag Manager vs. Other Tag Management Systems
GTM is one of the most popular TMS solutions, but it’s not the only option. Competitors include Tealium, Adobe Launch, and Piwik Pro. Here’s a quick comparison:
Tealium offers advanced customization but comes with a steep learning curve and cost.
Adobe Launch is a premium tool integrated with the Adobe ecosystem, making it a good choice for Adobe users.
Piwik Pro offers privacy-focused features but is less versatile than GTM.
For most small to medium-sized businesses, Google Tag Manager is the ideal balance between usability, features, and cost-effectiveness.
Final Thoughts on Google Tag Manager
Learning to navigate Google Tag Manager can revolutionize how you approach marketing analytics. With GTM, you’ll enjoy improved site performance, actionable insights, and the freedom to experiment with different tracking methods without waiting on a developer. From tracking page views to setting up advanced remarketing campaigns, GTM empowers you to make the most of your digital marketing efforts.
By leveraging Google Tag Manager in your business, you’re investing in better data, quicker insights, and more control over how you measure your online success. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned marketer, there’s always something new to learn with GTM—so start experimenting today and unlock the full potential of this powerful tool!

ARTS 245 Blog 2 (9/6)
Reading:
The reading was decent, I learned about the history and development of grids in this reading. When I entered the design program, I knew nothing about grids, is only when the final project for ARTS 102 that I first experience grids. I used the grids that was offered in the template, so I never played around with grids or how to use them. This reading helped me learn more about grids and how grids is a core part of how certain designs work. I was surprised how long it took for people to move away from the small, close-knit, and hard to read text in print until the 19th century, where people just started experimenting. Being simple and organized is an aesthetic as seem in The New Typography diagram, having text wrap around an image is a bit distracting and unpleasing to the eye than a spread with text and images that are orderly. It is funny that designers turned the HTML table as a typographic grid, when it was intended for charts and data. There a section on golden ratio, I get the gist of it when I did not before reading this second, it is a spiral of squares that can go on infinitely and the squares leaves no gaps because of their perfect ratio.
Progress:
The overall progress since last blog is that I cut up my second and third square and also made the three squares on the second row. The first of new three squares was the high-contrast, with red and white cardstock for Chris Pratt involvement in the Marvel Movies. For the low-contrast it was an orange cardstock and a darker orange paper, as Chris Pratt will be the voice of Garfield in the new Garfield movie. The dark orange paper was flimsy and easy to rip so it was the bottom layer for the square, I had to make sure that paper was straight on all sides with no rips. The third and final square is computer paper on a cardboard, because I thought Chris Pratt was Jim in the British version of The Office. Chris Pratt was in a TV Show called "Parks and Recreation", but the producer of the show, Michael Schur, was producer for the early seasons of The Office, that why I was mistaken, but the texture square is still connected in some way. The Xerox experimentation, I crumbled up one of papers of Chris Pratt as I didn't how to manipulate the image on the university student printers and also I still thought Chris Pratt was in the British version of The Office. Conceptual interpretation square is a mixtape belonging to Chris Pratt's character in Marvel, Peter Quill, the mixtape is known for Peter Quill, as the mixtape was made by Peter's mom to share her favorite songs for her son. I just need to work on the 8th square of the project, cut 7th and the 9th, and glue everything done and I am finished with this project.
