                      If it had been anyone else that had thought to use the term ‘pet’ to describe him, there was about a hundred percent likelihood that said person would spend the rest of their sleeve’s lifespan eating through a straw.   From her, however, it received only the smallest twitch along the edge of his jaw, mostly concealed beneath his scruff, and loose roll of thickly muscled shoulders.  Something close to a smirk teased at the corners of his mouth briefly as he glanced from the screens that held the information on her newest prey, fingers twitching, resisting the sudden and likely deadly impulse to tuck the stray strand of hair out of her face.  “Waiting, patiently, for orders, of course.”  He was nothing if not loyal -- so long as he felt it due, at least.

while canon amos has a self-motivated ... i hate to say ‘redemption’ arc bc he doesn’t think he can be saved or improved he just ... tries not to be the worst version of himself for the sake of those around him usually -- i do have a verse where he chose not to save eric and killed eric to protect him (timothy at the time) & lydia from amos’ wrath / retribution and because he saw that as the only way to make a better (ish) future for himself, seeing no other way someone like him could ever improve their station.

this can be modern day or future - expanse set.  after continuing to serve as amos’ bloodhound for several years and learning more and more about the mob boss’ methodologies, connections, money holdings etc. and working his way slowly and steadily into amos’ trust, he waited for the opportunity to strike and killed the original amos burton; after which, he took on his identity / persona and continued to run the business with, if possible, an even more ruthless hand, extending the borders to a good 1/3 of baltimore that he rules with a merciless and iron fist.  the only thing that remains entirely true to form is his loathing for anyone that deals with / deals in or deals to underage kids and there is a portion of his profits that goes into funding truly safe houses for orphans or runaways.  

this doesn’t stop him from picking the cream of the crop from the older kids for runners, muscle, whatever, if they want to become part of his organization but he figures by the time they get old enough to make that choice for themselves they’re old enough for him to let them.
