Make your vampires fun!!!

Heya its been a minute since I uploaded here

but I got an interesting one for you!

Vampire anatomy! Why make them exactly like humans? experiement! I made them Apex preditors worthy of the title. Here's what I did:

[NOTE: There will be lots of teeth and bodies without clothes but nothing explicitly exposed / more like an empty base] [EXTRA NOTE: All drawings shown are rough drafts rather than final, so excuse any minor mistakes in the art] keep reading to see my vampire anaomy!! ↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓

CONTEXT! Vampires in my world are entirely seperate to humans. They share an ancestor, but they evolved differently so they count as a seperate sub-species. A human to vampire conversion is possible but the result is nowhere near close to actual vampire anatomy. They do change to have aspects of vampires, but not as extreme. I shall show them soon! First up, the height!

I made Vampires siginificantly taller than humans. This is more of a rule-of-cool design aspect but it also does serve a purpose! Bigger usually means stronger and faster, which is ideal for hunting down those pesky humans. It also allows us to play with the proportions, as you can already see.

First up, I gave the vampires a much wider rib-cage, allowing them to have more air capacity. (They're longer too but the angle makes it seem shorter) → This means their stamina increases while running, and improve how long they can survive underwater. I also made the limbs strech out, like in the arms and legs. As well as making the bones thicker in some areas. → This not only adds to their height, but also increases speed - especially in long distance running. Because of both of these factors, it means most vampires will not only be able to catch up to / keep up with humans, but also overtake them easily. The increased air flow helping in their chase, on land and in water.

As with human skeletons, Vampires also have a variation between biological males and females. Mostly in the pelvis and ribs. NOW ONTO THE CHOMPERS!!

→ Vampires can extend their jaw down much further than any human. Which combined with their jaw strength makes any powerful bite from them a leathal force! → Their teeth structure is also obviously changed to fit the fangs. The fangs pertrude slightly, and the bottom teeth are angled to accommodate them.

That's all for now! But already I've taken a human and changed around their structure, skeleton, muscles and jaw to make them a more believeable threat. Already they look very different, and I hope to keep exploring their anatomy, alongisde my other monsters as well.

Hello again dearest Nathalie, I hope you are doing well. Some time ago I asked how the whole glittering in the sun worked and in your answer you mentioned that every vampire looks different in sunlight. You, for example, mentioned that Caius has a pearlescent look to him and now I've been wondering for a while what the other volturi would look like. Could you make like a list with pictures of what it would look like or if that is too much work (which I totally understand, so no pressure at all) just a list without pictures? Ah yes, I remember this question quite fondly.

It was difficult for me to find pictures that truly spoke to how I imagine their glow, so for now I have decided to answer it in written form. Volterran-Wine does in fact own a large crystal selection she has studied to find the right answers.

𝐀𝐫𝐨: The first you would see is a greenish hue, like oxidised copper. There would still be those hints of warmth however, with a discreet sheen of sparkle.

𝐂𝐚𝐢𝐮𝐬: He almost has a pearlescent finish to his skin and there’s a slight reddish hue when he enters certain types of light.

𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐮𝐬: They say he once shone more brightly in the sun, but now vampires compare this kings skin to dulled brass

𝐒𝐮𝐥𝐩𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐚:  This queen shifts beautifully like the darkest garnet, with a glitter-like shift that leaves those around her spellbound when they see it.

𝐀𝐭𝐡𝐞��𝐨𝐝𝐨𝐫𝐚: Many have compared her skin to the glint of steal, speckled with red like a bloodstone when the sun hits her just right.

𝐃𝐢𝐝𝐲𝐦𝐞: Once upon a time she resembled an opalite with a pinkish hue, now few remembers how vibrant of a sparkle Didyme once had.

𝐃𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐫𝐢: Our resident tracker resembles a bronze statue in it's prime, almost bordering on a golden hue, not unlike the crystal tigers eye.

𝐅𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐱: The way Felix shines in the sunlight is the same way a great mountain glimmers in a bronzed and golden glow if there are copper minerals deep within the earth. It is warm and inviting.

𝐉𝐚𝐧𝐞: Her glow is very particular, it is soft and almost has a translucent quality to it. The best way I can describe it is that Jane looks like living and breathing selenite.

𝐀𝐥𝐞𝐜: Seeing as though him and Jane share a lot of the same genetic makeup, they are quite similar. However, Alec has a slight blue-ish tint to his glow as well.

𝐇𝐞𝐢𝐝𝐢: This woman looks like an Opalite, come to life with a rosy hue beneath it all. Among the Volturi she is also one of the vampires who do in fact have a certain glitter to their skin.

𝐑𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐚: She is one of the few that partially glitter, though she gleams more if you ask those around her. If you look at Renata for too long it is like a duochrome of sienna and burnt orange.

𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧: Under the correct lighting Corin is like a pearl, but most of the time she looks like the iridescence you find inside of shells,

𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐬𝐞𝐚: She looks like a marble statue come to life, the softest glow you will ever see.

𝐀𝐟𝐭𝐨𝐧: Some say that Afton nearly looks like a silver statue when he moves under the sunlight, it is almost blinding with a soft blue-ish hue.

𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐠𝐨: He has this quality about his skin that is like smoky quartz, you expect it to be quite dark and dull-but the shifts in colorur is just out of this world. His tattoos almost seem to take up a life of their own when he steps under direct sunlight as well.

Ok so this is weird but has been on my mind for some reason. So vamps fangs are obviously very sharp. So I would assume that they would nick there inside of there cheeks a lot, but like wouldn’t they just immediately heal because there’s just a bunch of saliva in their mouth, and if so then would that drain them? Like yes it’s just two small cuts, but healing it over and over again might do something after awhile… and does vamp blood work on vampires? Like would they get relaxed from there own blood in there cheek? Or would the saliva coating the cheek act like a barrier and just prevent it from piercing. Completely random but just something to think about lol

WHOA. This is actually SUCH an interesting question! I never thought of this before!

I'd say that yes, healing even small cuts inside the mouth over and over again would drain a vampire's energy reserves over time and make them need to feed sooner, just like any other injury would (though cuts inside the mouth would heal much faster and use less energy overall, it would still take a toll on a vampire as time passes)

Not sure if they would get the same relaxed feeling though from drinking their own blood like humans do when tasting vampire blood. It's such a fascinating question to think about! I would think that maybe it does have the same effect though, and can be a method of self-soothing for vampires?

Eye of the beholder

So with the way vampires work not showing up in mirrors. Science says humans logically shouldn't be able to see them correct. With they way our eyes work.

So what if I propose that vampires as they are cursed to be such and the way that the mirrorthing works is that they cannot be seen bye that wich is not living. Are able to be seen only by the living and are unable to perceive themselves both in a literal sense of not being able to see themselves in the mirror and the fact that for all intensive purposes they are a human soul living far past its time.

idea a vampire who can only see them selves in the eyes of humans. They would try to avoid eating but like so many vampires they would need the blood. It is not a choice for them. So Over time they would begin to hate themselves for when feeding off of innocent people is the only time they can see what they look like. Logicly they would see themselves as ugly as violent as terrifying because thats what they are so they live like that. With no self to see they would grow deppressed as so many of us have they to would go to melancholy. Perhaps however This Vampire would maybe one day as so many often do find a lover a human or something similar who strikes their fancy who loves them who can see them for what the vampire truly is a person who was hurt and cursed with having their humanity stolen,and as they grow from this relationship maybe one day the Vampire on a day after long and difficult work. can see their own face for how beautiful it truly is only in the eye of the one that beholds them.

okay real question: im assuming that vampires dont have blood because why would they? theyre all undead and immortal, theyre super pale and cold to the touch, and they EAT blood, so if they thirst for blood they obviously dont have their own. also pale and cold, obviously they dont have blood.

so if they dont have blood, do they breathe? do they even need to breathe? cause gonna be honest here chat the only reason u breathe is to keep ur blood good to it can go to all the other organs in ur body and yadayadayada. soooooo. they must not need to breathe

also, what does the anatomy of a vampire look like? like.... are all their organs grey... are they stationary... do they magically disappear? whats goin on in their brain. how do they function. do they have special vampire "blood"? that is really more like a fluid? i wonder.......

Ranking Vampire Blood Sources By Their Eroticism

Vampires can of course suck blood from any part of their victim, but what is the sexiest place to drink from? Here is a ranking of the hottest body parts to suck blood from, for a vampire*

The Neck

You can't go wrong with this classic. The neck has many nerves and some of the biggest blood vessels in the body. 8/10

The Inner Thigh

Need it hotter? Go for the femoral artery. The thigh is both delicious and soft and one of the best erogenous zones. 9/10

The Arm

It's an arm. It's not bad but it's not all that sexy. 7/10

The Butt

This depends on personal taste, no pun intended. The glutes can be plump and playful, but others may find the whole region dirty. 3-6/10

The Eye

The eyes are the windows to the soul, and bleed very well when punctured, but the pain level is far too cruel for any but the most extreme sadists of vampirekind. 2/10

The Fingertip

Unless your vampire is checking your blood sugar this just isn't very compelling. 3/10

The Ribs

Oh god yes. Ever nibble someone's ribs? Ever let them nibble yours? Imagine a vampyric feast on that sexy sexy ribcage. 10/10

The Renal Artery

When your body needs to clean your blood of toxins and other gross stuff, it sends that blood to the kidneys. The kidneys are the sewage filter of the blood and they're not even conveniently placed. Unquestionably the least sexy place for the human and vampire alike. 0/10 would not suck.

I personally like the idea that vampires don’t have straw fangs, rather they have fangs that have a channel in the back (the only comparison I can think of right now is a rain gutter, ie carries the liquid but is not fully enclosed)

That way, when they bite a person, their fangs stay in the wounds to keep them open, and the suction from their mouth pulls the blood from the wound, through the channel and into their mouth.

How important are sire bonds? I mean, if one of the romanian decided to turn a human and that human turned out to be one of the Volturi's potential mate, would they hate the newborn automatically or would it depend of whether they were loyal to the romanians?

The example here is a little dramatic but I wonder if being sired by a particular person is something that is seen as relevant no matter who you are as a person, if it makes sense?

Also, I can't find whether or not you have already talked about that but can Sire influence the newborn? I know there are vampire stories where the sire can kinda hypnotise or influence a newborn's actions. Does something similar exists in your worldbuilding?

First of all I will answer your last question darling; a Sire does not have the ability to fully control a Newborn. They have free will, but when you awaken to an undead life and only one person seems to care for your wellbeing? That is a potent enough influence in itself. But there is no direct control or hypnotising involved in my personal writing and lore. Now, on to the matter of The Volturi and The Romanians. The truth of dear Anonymous is that it all depends on the scenario presented.

"Vladimir turns a human, abandons them and simply allows them to strife about the world to do as they please."

and

"Vladimir turns a human, raises them within his own coven and develops a strong sire-bond with them over several years. They take on the Romanian doctrine and Vladimir finally and allows them to strife about the world at some point."

Are two very different scenarios for anyone of The Volturi to deal with. Sire bonds will only have a great effect on a Newborn if the sire in fact spent the appropriate time to introduce them into the world of vampires. Vampiric society will regard a vampire and their sire depending on how much of a bond there is. Another example if I may;

"Aro was turned by a vampire named Djehuty, who in fact served Amun very well—Aro killed his sire not long after being turned however, so there are few who connect Aro to Amun."

and

"Demetri was turned by Amun, was raised by him as a newborn and the tracker sees him as somewhat of a father figure despite everything."

Both are connected to Amun, but only Demetri is truly seen as someone who once belonged to Amun's house per say.

weird question. If vampires are predators then would the corners of their mouths be a little further back on their jaws? If that makes any sense??? Like a dogs, so it’s easier to Bite. just wondering about their biology to better visualize them

Huh, that's such an interesting question! I think that despite being predators, vampires wouldn't have their mouths further back in the jaw, and here's why:

I think it's because they hunt differently. They don't need to be able to open their mouths very wide to attack of hold prey like dogs do -- they only need enough bite to puncture skin since they drink blood alone. So they don't need the powerful jaws meant for crushing bone or grabbing prey that many other predator animals have, if that makes sense? Their fangs do most of the work for them, anchoring their bite in place and letting them drink the blood of their victim.
