Memes about vim users are fun for me because, yeah, I do code in vim, but I also mostly maintain legacy systems, so usually I don't bother to dink with the vim settings that were already in place. Sometimes it's factory default. Sometimes I learn something about the psychology of my predecessor.

Why do you need a wm/de, vim literally has window management, instead of getting used to bad keybindings you can just get better at using vim!!!!

probably i should learn how to use neo/vi/m or similar sometime. i guess the reason i haven't is i don't use console text editors that often? if i'm doing a writing project i'll either use libreoffice or scrivener (depending on length) and if i just need to edit a config usually kate or nano work. the only programming i do is html/css, and i usually just do that in kate. maybe a more powerful editor would help my flow? unsure. would totally help with the whole "relatively universal linux console editor" thing though

Note
The text editor debate is pointless. I'm right here, and I've been the same for the past forty years. The only change might be that I've been ported to ncurses.
bad take 👎 Linux users love to argue arcane semantics, and you would take that away from them? 😞
some things should remain undecided for the common good.

vim is actually much easier to use than people tell you. if you know like these 7 basic commands by heart, it's already better than nano.
ZZ -- exit vim
i -- insert
y -- copy
v -- select
p -- paste
d -- delete
/ -- search (just like in less)
everyone keeps talking about the hjkl keys, but you don't have to use them!! the arrow keys work just fine, plus you can use them in insert mode.
like "23<DOWN>" works. "d3<DOWN>" works. everything works.
