Who are Camille's siblings? Do we know their names or anything about them?

In total, Camille’s parents Jean Benoît Nicolas Desmoulins and Marie Madeleine Godard had nine children, four of which died during childhood:

Lucie Simplice Camille Benoît (March 2 1760 — April 5 1794)

Henriette Aimery Angélique (21 February 1761 — 17 June 1770)

Marie Élisabeth Émilie Toussaint (November 1 1762 — December 20 1839)

Stillborn girl, buried at the day of her birth (January 15 1764)

Armand ”Dubocquoi” Jean Louis Domitille (May 5 1765 — 1793)

Anne Clotilde Pélagie Marie (June 20 1767 — ?)

Lazare ”Sémery” Nicolas Norbert Félicité (June 6 1769 — January 1811)

Clement Louis Nicolas (November 23 1770 — April 16 1778)

Charles Maximilien Yves Nicolas Reignier (June 17 1772, probably didn’t reach adult age)

We know Camille was the only one of the siblings that was given a higher education in Paris. Something we might find an explanation for in a letter to him dated January 23 1791 (cited in Hervé Leuwers’ Camille et Lucile Desmoulins: un rêve de république (2018)), where the father places his oldest son on a higher level than the rest of his children:

Your brother Dubocquoi has always had a rather limited peak, he has just acknowledged it to you; but it is not his fault. In the portion of nature and in the lot of the spirit, why have you exercised your birthright so copiously and taken such a great precipitate, to leave your siblings’ afferent share so small?

Camille expressed himself in similar terms in a letter to his father dated October 8 1789. I’m just gonna let this part of this hilarious comic by @theorahsart illustrate the passage:

Camille spending the majority of his time away from his family seems to have ended up in him not knowing his siblings all that well, as we in 1792 find a letter where his father has to tell him the name of his brothers as well as their occupations (cited in Camille Desmoulins, a biography (1909) by Violet Methley):

You ask me, my son, for the name of your brother, Du Bucquoy, as well as for that of Semery. The former is called Armand Jean Louis Domitille, who was born on May 5th, 1765. For the past seven years he has served in the late Royal Roussillon cavalry regiment, or the 11th Regiment of the Army of the Midi, and which I believe is either in the interior at Saumur or at Saint-Jean-d'Angely, for I have had no news of him for the last twelve months. The latter is named Lazare Nicolas Norbert Félicité, born on June 6th, 1769, and for the past two years in the loth Battalion of Chasseurs, late Gevaudan, with the Army of the North, in which he shows much zeal. He tells me in his last letter that he is a forlorn sentinel in a wood, and congratulates you on the birth of a son. As for me, I also am married. My wife is a musket, and I take greater care of her than of myself.

On February 8 1793 Lucile has written in her diary: ”C(amille’s) brother came. We had dinner at Madame Brune’s.” In a letter dated July 9 1793 Camille shares more details on his brothers, who by now are both serving in the revolutionary army. These parts got censored when the letter was published for the first time in 1836, and restored in Hervé Leuwers’ biography:

I have received unfortunate news of my brother, who has been lost to drunkenness and expelled from his regiment. I don't know if he wrote to you about his mishap. He has not dared to write to me about it, and he is right in not to. It is most unworthy that I should take an interest in him, and I am really angry that he has taken my name, which he has sullied in the army. Nevertheless, I had advised him to pour water into his wine. I don't know what has become of him since he was forced to resign as an officer. His conduct might have caused you grief under the old regime, but it is a duty that a family of republicans and good men consists of nothing but those who are republicans and good men. […] I am very sorry that Sémery was killed. I would have had no reason to be ashamed of him, and I would have procured for him a speedy promotion of which he proved himself worthy, for things are going well and will be better.

Soon thereafter, Camille does however find out the information regarding his youngest brother’s death is false, whereupon he writes a new letter to his father:

I am very sorry to have written to you that my brother Sémery would have died fighting for his homeland. I had no other certainty of a loss so grievous to you than the indication of his long silence, and I eagerly laid hold of your doubts of his death to fix my hopes upon them. May he be returned to you by the enemies into whose hands he may have fallen captive. I feel even more now, when I see my son, how sensitive this blow must have been to your heart.

Sémery had indeed not died in battle, but been captured at the siege of Maestricht. According to La jeunesse de Camille Desmoulins (1908) he was released after three years. In 1802 he was admitted to the 27th legion of gendarmerie on foot, and was serving in Piémont à la Chiesa as gendarme of the Stura company when he died by an accident in January 1811. The other brother, Dubucquoi, did however die in Vendée in 1793, I’ve not discovered on which date.

As for the two surviving sisters, we seemingly only know that they got married. According to geneanet, the eldest sister Marie Élisabeth Émilie Toussaint married one Théodore Morey in Guise, December 25 1793, while Anne Clotilde Pélagie Marie married Simon Isidore Lemoine in the same town on June 5 1794. Leuwers cites a document showing the two couples were still together by March 4 1797. He adds that both husbands were gendarmes and their wives left Guise to be with them at their posts. Somewhere after 1797 Marie Élisabeth Émilie Toussaint got remarried to one Théodore Lagrange before dying in Paris on December 20 1839, with one Antoine Nicolas Desmoulins as witness. When and where Anne Clotilde Pélagie Marie died I’ve not been able to discover.

riffing off @skullduggeryandfilibuster's excellent addition to my post, I would like to share my first ever story! I was in first or second grade (I believe first grade). This was copied directly from the booklet, grammatical errors and all.

It is ... unintentionally very funny. I love how misanthropic I was even then! There were drawings also, but I'm not going to put everyone through the horrors of those. Also, I guess they didn't teach me what the fuck dialogue tags are yet.

Snowflake the Cat

Hi. I'm Snowflake. I live in wonderful country house.

"Honey, I hate to do this, but with our new son, and you needing to recover, we can't take chances. The pound she will go to is really nice. They only put down animals with rabies. The cages have pillows and blankets fit for a king. Also they only have the best cat food for our sweet little Snowflake. She'll have a lot of pet pals I guess."

"Okay, but I don't think she'll hurt the new baby, Norbert."

"That's not a chance we're going to take."

"Okay. I hope that pound is nice. I've been in pounds before and I hate them."

"Hey Carice, why are you picking me up? You've been my master for twelve years! I don't want to go."

John, the greedy little baby, puts out his hand and grabs Snowflake's suitcase full of toys and different types and brands of cat food."

"You're the cause of it all, you greedy baby. Carice should never have had you. I should bite you, but I don't want to change Carice's attitude about me. Give me that back."

John looks up at the soon-to-be-departed cat. Carice snags the bag and puts Snowflake in her cage. She lifts the bag and the cage while walking toward the pound, which looks like a mansion

"This is all for us animals? Wow!"

Everyone except Norbert walks inside and it doesn't look like a mansion at all. It smells of old age and must.

"Yikes!" I don't want to stay in here forever! Carice! John! Wait up! Wow! I like this cabin. Like Norbert said, there are blankets and pillows fit for a king. Yeah! There's a room for me with toys and food. Hurry up Carice! Put the stuff on the blanket already! I can reach it. Good!

"Goodbye, Snowflake. We shall meet again someday."

"Goodbye, Carice. I will miss you. Yahoo! I should get an award for surviving two weeks with that horrible John! He was always hurting me."

The guards call "Playtime" and usher the animals outside.

"Wow! This is nice! They let you out. Good I can run in the 100 acre forest. Ouch I hit the fence. I can't see it, but it hurts my ears, my nose, and my head."

"Hi my name is Violet."

"Oh, hi, I'm new. My masters because of their little baby dumped me. I hate humans now."

"Same case with me! I hate humans now too!"

"Really? Cool. My owner's name was Carice and her horrible baby was John."

"My owner's name was Rose and her terrible daughter was Haley. Well, let's play."

"I'll go get a few toys from my basket, Violet."

A few days later.

"I understand. Goodbye! You were a great friend!"

"Let's jump this fence! Wait! My basket! Now. Heah!"

Snowflake has the basket in her mounth and is talking with it in her mounth.

"Grr ISS Oilet Ready. I ish this asket asn't o eavy. Ahh That's better. Finally, the basket is out of my … Yuuuck! This smells worse than a car! It's a thousand cars! Ahh! I'm surrounded."

A car runs her over. The basket get most of the beating, but both come out in okay condition.

"I don't remember a thing before what just happened, but seeing a girl. She's back. There she is. See me, see me, see me …."

"Mommy look at that poor cat. Can't we help him. He doesn't have a collar like cats in the city, Momma."

"Of course we can help him, Anice. First let's see. Boy or girl? She is a girl. Now because she doesn't have a home, how would you like a very early Christmas present?"

"Of course! You mean she's mine now?"

"Yup."

Anice, the girl drops snowflake to give her mom, Simone, a hug.

"Ouch! That asphalt hurts!" Pain coursing through my body.

Honk Honk calls throughout the city. Anice quickly grabs Snowflake and they drive through the city. Snowflake takes a nap. When she wakes up, they are backing into the driveway of Anice, Simone, Jake, and Jake Jr.

"Look what Anice and I found, Jake."

"All right hon. Because anything we need to give … her, him? Shocks."

"She's a girl."

"Okay."

"Hey!" Anice pipes up and shoes where 'Snowflake forever' has been imbedded in the cat's fur. They realize that Snowflake is the name and verify that in the family book.

"Let's go get the shots!"

They get the shots and are walking home when they here.

"Momeee! Somebody's got me! No I won't let them take her!"

Eah! Scrape! Scrape!

"Wow that cat wants you back!"

Snowflake bites the kidnapper in the arm and the kidnapper runs away empty-handed!

"Snowflake saved me, Momma!"

"She stays!"

As they walk in, the aroma of fish, cheese, chips, and apple juice fills the room.

"Come on, Snowflake. Let's go in my room." Anice indicates they are going in Anice's room where a new collar waits on the bed. As Snowflake jumps up, the padding is soft on her feet.

"This is heaven, Oh!"

The collar is blue with a bell! Anice slips it on while Snowflake eats the cat food she is given.

"Yes! Now I'm really hers. I love you Anice! Eat you beautiful kitty! You're too pretty not to eat."

Not that I look back on it, I'm better off now that I was at Carice's. I'm glad Anice saw me.

I would like to say I have improved significantly in the past 25 years, and now you can read a much better version of my writing on Amazon! I promise there's dialogue tags.

Call for Photos: Sunset wanted

Sie tut es jeden Tag. Und dennoch werden Menschen nicht müde sie dabei zu beobachten: Die untergehende Sonne fasziniert immer wieder aufs Neue. Mit einem Fotoaufruf möchte die Kunsthalle Bremen private Fotografien von Sonnenuntergängen versammeln. Anlass ist die kommende Sonderausstellung „Sunset. Ein Hoch auf die sinkende Sonne“ (ab 26. November 2022).

Darstellungen des Sonnenunterganges sind in der Kunst zahlreich und vielfältig. Vom romantischen Bergpanorama mit Wolkenspiel über Kackwürste am Strand vor rötlichem Himmel bis hin zum abstrakten Ball am Horizont. Die untergehende Sonne und damit verbundene Romantik und Kitsch wurde sehr unterschiedliche interpretiert. Ab dem 26. November werden rund 120 Sonnenuntergänge in der Kunsthalle Bremen in der Ausstellung „Sunset“ präsentiert. Die Farbpalette reicht von gelb bis pink, die Epochen von der Romantik bis in die Gegenwart.

Auch im privaten Kontext ist es ein einzigartiges Phänomen, das trotz täglicher Wiederholung nie seinen Reiz verliert. Ob im Urlaub oder zu Hause, das Farbspiel am Himmel wird gerne betrachtet und fotografiert. Anlässlich der kommenden Sonderausstellung sucht das Museum private Aufnahmen vom Sonnenuntergang. Die Fotografien werden in die Kommunikation (beispielsweise Printprodukte, Social Media) rund um „Sunset“ eingebunden und eine Auswahl der Fotografien wird in die Ausstellung integriert.

Details zur Einreichung:

Das Publikum ist eingeladen bis zum 8. August 2022 (Achtung: verkürzte Laufzeit des Aufrufs!) ein Foto pro Person per E-Mail einzureichen unter deine(a)kunsthalle-bremen.de. Die einreichende Person muss die Rechte am Foto besitzen und eventuell abgebildete Personen sowie der/ die Fotograf*in müssen mit der Veröffentlichung einverstanden sein. Die Fotodatei sollte druckfähig (300dpi) sein. Die Email sollte inkl. Bilddateie in Summe nicht 3MB überschreiten.

Zur Ausstellung „Sunset“ (26.11.2022 – 2.4.2023)

Die Ausstellung „Sunset“ ist ein Rettungsmanöver des zu Kitsch verkommenen Sonnenuntergangs. Sie stellt seine Tradition und seine Bandbreite an Darstellungen in der Kunst vor: Von der Romantik bis in die Kunst der Gegenwart. Sie erzählen vom Pathos eines Moments, der als Metapher für das Leben und dessen Endlichkeit gedeutet wird, von atemberaubender Schönheit, von Traum und Aufruhr, von apokalyptischen Visionen und ironischen Details. Die Werke umfassen hochkarätige Leihgaben und Werke aus der eigenen Sammlung. Insgesamt werden rund 120 Gemälde, Zeichnungen, Graphiken, Fotografien, Videos und Installationen präsentiert. Unter anderem von Anna Ancher, Heike Kati Barath, Carl Gustav Carus, Lyonel Feininger, Fischli & Weiss, Caspar David Friedrich, Claude Monet, Emil Nolde, Jörg Sasse, Norbert Schwontkowski und Félix Vallotton.

I guess you are asking me, but i’ll do it for my OC too. Lets start from me1. Your two top fave fictional characters.I really into alot of fandoms, and thats means that i have alot of fav characters so its hardest thing to do. If you would asked me at one specific fandom then i would’ve answered.

2. Fave bookNu i am kinda into Dostoevsky now, that man went deep into alot of things that human have questioned: Morals, existence of god, free will, doubt, faith and many interesting things. And sure he knew how to develop his characters so reader would’ve been attached, AND THEN TURNs THEIR HEARTS INTO DUST! Sure his characters develop better than most of the characters from our modern TV shows, films and etc. I read his Idiot, and it broke my heart. I thought after reading Idiot that it will stay my fav book till the end of my life. But then i started reading his brothers karamazov. And geez that good. I amn’t done reading it, i done its first book and i read half of second so pretty soon i am going to start reading Dostoevsky’s another book.

3.My fav Quote? “growing up isn’t the problem, forgetting is” From little prince’s cartoon.

4.I speak Georgian because i live in Georgia, Russian i learned in kindergarten, i loved it so much that me and my sister still talk in Russian for 2/4 a day, Hebrew in which i speak so-so, 4 years ago i actually spoke better because i had to communicate with my first and only best friend in Israel and we both knew English bad back then, and before i went to Israel i knew Hebrew not so good, teachers were teaching us Hebrew, and my Hebrew wasn’t that good, not because teachers teached bad, but we needed to communicate more to learn using Hebrew better so i did it in Israel, i am trying to learn German by my own, but its hard, atleast i know few words, Thanks to Roblox i started learning English, before Roblox my English was pretty bad, also i hated English because i thought it was too hard, i thought that i would go far with only knowing Russian, with a better English i role played better in Roblox. Even my scary English teacher this year praised me after i retelled the text and i showed her that now i know grammar. And she wrote in journal 10/10. Really, i was very afraid of her, and everyone in my class since the 5th class, so i was shaking seriously shaking, even my classmates noticed it. And i still was shaking with a smile on my face after the lesson.

5.Its hard choice, because me and my sis watched alot animes, before 2010 of course. I guess that i have to vote for Soul Eather then, i and my sis still have good memories from this anime and there is my first fav ship, i cant belive that i started shipping when i was 5-6 years old, or maybe even smaller. The anime has great storyline, humor characters and etc. I amn’t talking about Soul Eater NOT.

6.Fave flower… Oh… Nu i like alot of flowers but i’ll stop on Violet because its very beautiful, also i am into purple.

Erika: Ok! Hm, fave fictional characters the first one is Flareon from Eevee’s adventure telltale story and Austyn from my favourite anime.

Favourite book, Bara Frisk’s Sun, she was 20th centuries writer, sadly not very famous. For short in this book: There is begining of 19th centuary after the discovery of Alola region in 1778 started an actual big migration alot people came to Alola because there was peace, and in other regions were… Ehm some historical political moments. But those historical moments are just background most of the time. And those historical facts aren’t very accurate. But in the begining of 19th our protaganist Norbert Eriksen came to Alola to try and start new chapter in his life and etc. From the description it maybe doesn’t seem to be very interesting but this book has pretty deep morals.

So for short favourite quote: Just be whoever you are, no matter what they are talking about you, words are just words.

Erika: English just English, not like there are other “languages”, but i speak Kantoian, Johtoian, Sinnohian and Kalosian because they are similiar to each other, Pronunciation of a words is little bit hard in Kalosian English, but i am doing it somehow.(in the pokemon world letters came from Unown so that can mean that there is only English writing, but there can be different versions of English, yea i know its sounds stupid but its headcanon)

My favourite anime is “the change” In this anime author really used his imagination. So suddenly pokemons start to disappear which causes very serious problems but i dont want to spoil anything. Austyn is from this anime.

My favourite flower is Red flower.

A few days later, it was time for the twin's birthday. Thanks to a mod I have, they weren't aging up on their own, so I decided to do it manually.

They invited Ludvig's family to meet the girls and celebrate, but decided to keep their vampirism a secret for now.

Violet got the trait loves the cold and Lilith got the trait grumpy.

That's all for this household. I'm so excited to see what they'll be up to next rotation. Next up is the Remington household.

Wisconsin is a U.S. state located in the north-central United States, in the Midwest and Great Lakes regions. It is bordered by Minnesota to the west, Iowa to the southwest, Illinois to the south, Lake Michigan to the east, Michigan to the northeast, and Lake Superior to the north. Wisconsin is the 23rd largest state by total area and the 20th most populous. The state capital is Madison, and its largest city is Milwaukee, which is located on the western shore of Lake Michigan. The state is divided into 72 counties.

Wisconsin’s geography is diverse, with the Northern Highland and Western Upland along with a part of the Central Plain occupying the western part of the state and lowlands stretching to the shore of Lake Michigan. Wisconsin is second to Michigan in the length of its Great Lakes coastline.

Wisconsin is known as “America’s Dairyland” because it is one of the nation’s leading dairy producers, particularly famous for its cheese. Manufacturing, especially paper products, information technology (IT), and tourism are also major contributors to the state’s economy.

Geography

Wisconsin is bordered by the Montreal River; Lake Superior and Michigan to the north; by Lake Michigan to the east; by Illinois to the south; and by Iowa to the southwest and Minnesota to the northwest. A border dispute with Michigan was settled by two cases, both Wisconsin v. Michigan, in 1934 and 1935. The state’s boundaries include the Mississippi River and St. Croix River in the west, and the Menominee River in the northeast.

With its location between the Great Lakes and the Mississippi River, Wisconsin is home to a wide variety of geographical features. The state is divided into five distinct regions. In the north, the Lake Superior Lowland occupies a belt of land along Lake Superior. Just to the south, the Northern Highland has massive mixed hardwood and coniferous forests including the 1,500,000 acres (6,100 km2) Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest, as well as thousands of glacial lakes, and the state’s highest point, Timms Hill. In the middle of the state, the Central Plain has some unique sandstone formations like the Dells of the Wisconsin River in addition to rich farmland. The Eastern Ridges and Lowlands region in the southeast is home to many of Wisconsin’s largest cities. The ridges include the Niagara Escarpment that stretches from New York, the Black River Escarpment and the Magnesian Escarpment.

The bedrock of the Niagara Escarpment is dolomite, while the two shorter ridges have limestone bedrock. In the southwest, the Western Upland is a rugged landscape with a mix of forest and farmland, including many bluffs on the Mississippi River. This region is part of the Driftless Area, which also includes portions of Iowa, Illinois, and Minnesota. This area was not covered by glaciers during the most recent ice age, the Wisconsin Glaciation. Overall, 46% of Wisconsin’s land area is covered by forest. Langlade County has a soil rarely found outside of the county called Antigo silt loam.[63]

Education

Wisconsin, along with Minnesota and Michigan, was among the Midwestern leaders in the emergent American state university movement following the Civil War in the United States. By the start of the 20th century, education in the state advocated the “Wisconsin Idea”, which emphasized service to the people of the state. The “Wisconsin Idea” exemplified the Progressive movement within colleges and universities at the time.

Today, public post-secondary education in Wisconsin includes both the 26-campus University of Wisconsin System, with the flagship university University of Wisconsin–Madison, and the 16-campus Wisconsin Technical College System. Private colleges and universities include Alverno College, Beloit College, Cardinal Stritch University, Carroll University, Carthage College, Concordia University Wisconsin, Edgewood College, Lakeland College, Lawrence University, Marquette University, Medical College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee School of Engineering, Ripon College, St. Norbert College, Wisconsin Lutheran College, and others.
