for those who don't know (as in anyone who isn't marian @ratfuck), i fucking hate the movie Volcano from 1997 so much to the point that it's come full circle and i almost love it. i am bewildered and bemused by the fact that i have never been able to hate a piece of media quite like volcano nineteen ninety-seven

For context both movies came out months apart and each are a Volcano-based disaster movie.

Me and fam: *watching Volcano with Tommy Lee Jones. Arrive at the scene with Kelly and the toddler outside as the building starts to fall*

Mom: That's you, Pasta.

Me: ???

Mom: The toddler is Fozzie. You'd 100% risk being smushed for Fozzie.

Me, to Fozzie: It is me. I would save you, I wouldn't leave you.

Fozzie, suddenly very excited: BARK! OH I HAPPY DANCE! YES I AM THE TODDLER! BARK BARK! MOTHER WOULD SAVE ME! MOTHER LOVES ME!

Me: Baby hush, the movie-

Fozzie, spinning: MOTHER WOULD SAVE ME FROM THE VOLCANO! I AM THE TODDLER, MOTHER WOULD SAVE ME! HAPPY BARK HAPPY BARK HAPPY BARK!

Ok but Roark having to send his injured 13-year-old daughter with a stranger in the middle of an emergency really fucking pulls at your heart strings.

Like when he says he has to stay and help because it is his responsibility and then she's like "I'm your responsibility too!", and then the way she's screaming dad as the car is driving away, ugh.

You know he's just thinking "I know you are my responsibility that is why I'm sending you out of the danger zone because I cannot help you any other way except to send you with a doctor to the hospital." Like just watching his face you know his heart is breaking because he cannot do anything else, he probably feels like he is failing her, and I'm just uggggghhhhhh
