Why fandom decided that Laito had sex with Cordelia?

My position: they never had sex. Bloodsucking only. Not without a certain reason. I would like to prove that claimimg they were sexual lovers is not correct at all.

Watching the anime only and without any accompanying sources you might not even guess any sex. However the fact that Laito was in love and desired his own mother is obvious. In s01e04 he sighs glaring at the moon remembering the smell, the voice of his beloved' swears eternal love to her; in s01e08 he having pushed his mother off the balcony said that now she belongs only to him forever; in s01e11 he expresses regret that he doesn't see her in hell, and in s01e12 while her dressburning he mumbles something about her (maybe Karl's also but due to contex it must be about Cordelia) and Richter's actions to them.

s01e04:

愛してます. いつまでも いつまでも いつまでも. あなたが望むと望まざるとにかかわらず. 一瞬たりとも あなたのこと忘れたことなんかない. あなたの声 あなたの匂い すべて覚えてる. Laito: I love you. Always, always, forever. Whether you want it or not. I've never forgotten you for a moment. Your voice, your smell, I remember everything.

s01e08:

これで永遠に僕だけのものになったね Laito: Now you belong to me only forever.

s01e11:

次に会う時は地獄だと思ってたよ Laito: I thought the next time we met would be in hell. 期待に添えなくて、残念だわ Yuidelia: It's a shame it didn't live up to expectations. いや 期待以上だよ Laito: No, it's beyond expectations.

s01e12:

一つだけ明らかな真実を教えてあげるよ Laito: I'll tell you the only obvious truth. 僕たちはもう二度と叔父上やあの人に振り回されない Laito: That person and you, Uncle, will never be able to wield us again.

Cordelia in s01e08 asked Laito to save her and, holding out her bloody hand, said that she truly loved him:

ライト 私を助けなさい Cordelia: Laito, save me.

ライト 愛してるわ Cordelia: Laito, I love you. 本当に Cordelia: Really.

And that's the whole story of their relationship in anime.

Unlike Ayato who was thrown into the lake in s01e02 and said to live at the its' bottom in s01e07 Laito seems having no reason to hate his mother but the fact that he desired her is an indisputable (his 'you're mine forever').

No official source desribed it as sexual relationship. Never.

This was only thought up by the fans themselves.

Analyzing DL keep in mind key aspects that important to understand the story:

1. the title is based on a bloodsucking fetish: bloodish is a much more intimate process than simply eating, it's erotic; 2. Laito and others are demonic creatures with a distorted nature, they don't feel like humans and have no human heart; 3. DL women are weak fisicallly and magically; 4. Cordelia's blood and even its' smell drove vampires crazy.

In the first game there are only two oddy episodes that fans automatically saw as sex.

1. DL Laito Dark Epilogue. Laito has a dream of Cordelia coming to him: she says that she is 'not enough' and that she 'loves' him, he promises to 'give her love'. 2. DL Laito Maniac Epilogue. After killing some man Cordelia asks Laito to give her 'warmth'.

The rest flashbacks do not hint at anything at all. Imprisonment in a dungeon (DL Laito Maniac Prologue) and a request to help killing Karlheinz (DL Laito Ecstasy Prologue), Cordelia's murder (DL Laito Ecstasy Epilogue).

But inside Yui Cordelia called her son a 奴隷. It seems to be a special term, we would return to it.

That made fans decide that the mother sex with her own son. If Laito and Cordelia would be human, not bloodsucking demons, I would agree with fans. But from the start I passed the games I noticed many details in Laito's logic that were not that simple.

We have a blood-drinking fetish. Cordelia had special blood. So this story may be more complicated.

More, Blood. There are only two flashbacks with Laito and Cordelia. Dark Prologue and Ecstasy Epilogue. In MB Dark Prologue Laito asks Cordelia in bedroom 'why doing such a thing'. Cordelia answers because she loves him and what a place in a world where any mother doesn't love her child. Laito answers that's 'here'.

Fans again decide that Laito is hinting at sexualized 'love' between him and his mother.

In MB Dark Epilogue and MB Ecstasy Prologue the butler of their castle invited Laito to Cordelia. Laito provocatively asked the reason. To the butler's unfinished answer Laito only grinned and called him a 'bad old man'.

In MB Ecstasy Prologue Ayato tried to hammer into his brother that Cordelia didn't love any of them.

MB Dark Prologue, MB Dark Epilogue, MB Maniac Epilogue are episodes which his relationship with the maid Hilde are shown as he decided to use words of love for his own purposes and to seduce her. His monologues also are hardly grasp their essence, it is often unclear who Laito is talking about - himself, someone or in general.

Dark Fate. Laito refused to acknowledge Cordelia as his mother but Richter scolded him for this. Yui wanted a solution to this problem.

DF Laito Maniac Epilogue. Laito himself suggested to his mother to forget about 'that person' because she already 'has him'. Cordelia snapped that Laito is not Karlheinz and is not a replacement of him. And her answer really affected him ('If not a replacement who am I?')

DF Laito Vampire End. Laito having already learned about his father's experiments makes a grave for Cordelia, calls her 'kaa-san' for the first time and says goodbye to her.

In SS for the Dark Fate game he again refers to her 'kaa-san': 'Ayato and Kanato have mom's blood, so they would be okay' (true-sweet-moments).

Lost Eden. Laito only remembers Cordelia once comparing her to Yui whom he suspects of cheating on Kino (LE Laito Ecstasy Prologue).

Lunatic Parade. Yui stutters about ｢裏切り｣ = Laito's 'betrayal' by Cordelia in his childhood (LP Laito Chapter 2).

Chaos Lineage. Some episodes with Yui's heartbeat and her avoiding Laito memorizing Cordelia again.

That's all. That made fans thinking Cordelia and Laito had sex.

The CD-drama Versus II Ayato vs Laito even pushed fans to decide that Cordelia raped her son when he was a child. But again Laito's words are not about it.

However I repeat our bloodsucking story with giving blood that means too much and Cordelia's special blood suggests a much more difficult story. So then we would learn all the fanbooks, descriptions, dramas and other characters' (especially Kanato and Ayato) conversations to understand what it was. Sex or bloodsucking only.

ご無沙汰仕切りにございます。メインブログ込みでお正月以来になりますかね、あっちゅうまに二月もアタマが過ぎております。

さてさて本日より毎年恒例のG28写真展（＠京都同時代ギャラリー）にゲスト参加させていただいております。んで今回はこれまで同様の恒例搬入前撮影会の画でございます。

今回は伏見区近辺ぶらりぶらり。前日までの雪もええ感じで残っておりこれまた趣深いもんでございました。

今回の写真展、@brownie-picsさま、@masachiさま、@sou0902さまもご出展。アタクシは基本在廊しておりませんが最終日は御三人さま揃い踏みとのこと。お近くにお越しの際はぜひぜひ。

another expression note. . .he's looking away and putting his hand on the back of his neck here. He's shy, almost. Because he's not asking you to stay over to perform some task. It's not your usual master-servant dynamic. He just wants you close to him. As close as possible. He really is rather sweet.

Affinity 25(max): (no time constraints)

"Never learn, do you? I don't take you being here for granted. I know it won't last forever. That's all I'm going to say." 懲りないやつだな。言っておくが、こうやってお前が隣にいること…… 俺は、永遠に続くとは思ってねぇぞ

Jin makes a kind of sad face when he says it won't last forever. well, as sad as he can manage.

He knows that once your curse is broken you'll probably go back to your ordinary life. If your curse can't be broken you'll die. And if you, for some reason, continue to stay at Darkwick even after being cured, he'll be a fourth year next year--he's gonna go off to do field work. Eventually he'll work in the highest levels of the Institute and eventually he'll take his father's place as the president. With all of this, there's no way you'll be able to be together, no matter what. This is a short lived burst of happiness and attachment for him. It means a lot more to him than you realize.

Spring: (March-May) (between 5am and 11am)

"(yawn) What's with that look? I'm not allowed to yawn?" ふぁっ…… あ？　何だその顔は。俺があくびして悪ぃか？

(between 11am and 4pm)

"The flowers you can see from the balcony? Yeah, I had them planted. ...My mother liked them." バルコニーから見える花……？ああ、俺が植えさせた。 …………お袋が好きだった花だ

the balcony bg and the front of frostheim background don't have flowers visible in them(i mean the balcony has potted plants but no flowers). . .i wonder what kind of flowers his mother liked. maybe the pc will grow them when they turn into a Kyklos.

So i went to watch the Nice theme (Paragon) MV and it had a Chinese translation of the lyrics, but then I noticed that as usual, their Chinese translation has a meaning or nuance in the lyrics that the original English doesn't really have, and I thought it was cool, so I tried translating it (amateur attempt.) and it got cooler :O so of course I'm going to yap a bit about the differences between the two versions :D

Here are the original English lyrics:

And now, here is my amateurish attempt at translating the Chinese lyrics (some lyrics remain unchanged, but a lot of the lyrics have slight changes of meaning or nuance, which I just directly translated):

Now let's look at what important things changed :D

"Pretenders that would give their lives/If painless and was televised" -> "The pretenders are willing to give everything/Just to stand glamorously beneath the spotlight"

I'm gonna be honest, I don't really understand what the original means by "if painless and was televised" 😭 like I really cannot comprehend what the meaning is, if they gave their lives how would it be painless- (maybe it's a line hinting at the entertainment industry that I'm too immature to understand, my bad) but the Chinese translates into the pink text above which seems like a meaning change to me?

"It's not easy being nice" -> "Perfection isn't easy/It's not easy being perfect"

As you can see it's a fun double meaning of Nice being perfect and the entire concept of "Nice" ending up becoming "perfection"! :)

"It's not about the merchandise" -> "It has nothing to do with transactions"

Actually I think this one technically means the same thing, just it's not about the material rewards/products/items (they used 金钱交易 which is just "transactions of money")

"It's so serene, the blue and green, from outer space" -> "Across the world, the blue and green is so serene"

Again,this technically means the same thing, just that "from outer space" wasn't used directly? (feel free to correct me)

"If we all could make it work/It could be such a happy place" -> "If all is well/This will be a world of bliss"

In the Chinese translation they didn't mention a "we" at all - just said 如果一切安好 "if all is well" and 幸福的天地 "a world of bliss" so the meaning change isn't really major here, it just feels so much more... grand? or some better fitting word? like "place" and "happy" feel a little less intense/monumental than "bliss" and "world" (天地 literally meaning the heavens and the earth, basically the world, but even more grand)

"To broker peace so pain can cease" -> "Establish peace, end the suffering"

Again, not a very major change, but there is a certain level of difference between "broker" and "establish": "broker" sounds like you negotiated peace with something or someone, and a deal was made for peace, while "establish" sounds more like you set up or built that peace yourself, brick by brick, with your own power? if that makes sense? (idk this is one of the takes that im less confident in 😭 again, correct me if I'm wrong)

"We are much more than the sum of all our parts" -> "We are definitely not soulless bodies"

Now, this seems like a very significant change to me. The original lyric says "more than the sum of all our parts" like joining forces will give rise to an even greater power, but the Chinese translation says "we are definitely not soulless bodies/shells" like everyone has a drive, a power within them that keeps them going. Could it be that the original lyric embodies the hero belief system, where the trust and belief of the normal, powerless civilian masses create a hero with superhuman powers and the ability to perform feats that civilians can only dream of, while the Chinese translation embodies Lin Ling's philosophy in episode 1, where everyone in the world, even the civilians and the nobodies, have something in them that could bloom and flourish into a hero given the chance?

"So go and capture all their hearts" -> "Go capture the people's hearts and minds"

Aaaaand we're back to really minor changes. The only difference here is the word choice.

"Cuz you are the teacher/Shine like a sapphire to guide us" -> "You are the model/Shine like a sapphire and guide us"

Extremely slight meaning change here, with teacher and model. In my opinion, "teacher" is someone who actively... teaches, extending a guiding hand and all, basically very active in the role of guiding and nurturing and teaching. The Chinese translation used 榜样, which means "example" or "model". This role is not active in the teaching and guiding process, but is more of an example to look upon and follow - like a prototype, or for example a student who behaves obediently and performs excellently and is made into a "good example to be followed". The 榜样(model) role does not extend a helping hand and does not guide you actively in a mentor role. It is just... there, like a guidebook.

"Wisdom is just in your nature/Fighting for justice" -> "You are born with wisdom/You fight for justice"

You guessed it - virtually no changes to the meaning except for word choice. The only thing that can be mentioned is "wisdom is just in your nature" to "you are born with wisdom" - since apparently the Chinese translation "生而知之" comes from a line in the Confucian Analects (a record of this really wise guy talking with his disciples): 生而知之，上也。There are more lines behind this but what this specific one means is literally "Those who are born with knowledge are superior" (in learning) (ive said this so many times but please correct me if im wrong 文言文 is NOT my strong suit 😭)

"You take us higher" -> "You lead us to march forward fearlessly"

This is because I feel that the Chinese translation of 乘风破浪 has a bigger/deeper meaning than just "take us higher". 乘风破浪, literally "ride the winds and break the waves", means "to move forward bravely without fear of challenge or difficulty". So I changed it here to "march forward fearlessly".

"Saw the potential to be good" -> "Saw the kindness deep within the depths of the soul"

Word choice again. Just has the details of the soul there. The meaning is pretty much the same.

"So many just misunderstood/So many lost deep in the wood shall find a way" -> "Too many people who misunderstand each other/Too many lost people, will always find a path

Minor difference here on the "misunderstood ones" line: the original English lyrics just says "so many just misunderstood" which, in my opinion, implies the misunderstanding is one-way, while the Chinese translation says "misunderstand each other", which implies that the misunderstanding goes all around. The people are all hurting each other at the same time instead of it just being a one-way hurting. As for the "lost" line, the Chinese translation doesn't bring up woods at all, but for the "find a way" to "find a path", the Chinese translation uses 柳暗花明, which, if my research tells me correctly, means "to suddenly find a path of survival/salvation after going through suffering" which. basically the same thing. but cool Chinese idiom :)

"Can imagine a world with no fear of hate" -> "Can imagine a world with no hate and fear"

This one's a little strange - the original English lyric implies the world is... afraid of hating? Hmm. But the Chinese translation says something else, that the world contains, or is filled with hate and fear.

"Waking up with no reason for feeling great" -> "Wake up and enjoy true goodness"

Here's another one with a major meaning change - the original English lyric is pessimistic and depressed, while the Chinese translation is saying to wake up and "enjoy the true goodness". One thing to note here is the use of "goodness" - I struggled with this translation because they used 美好, which can have a multitude of different English translations, such as "good", "fine", "lovely", "pleasant", "enjoyable", "wonderful", and... "nice". heh.

"Can imagine a world that you can create" -> "Can imagine the world you will create"

Minor changes again. Here you can see the original English lyric treats it like just a possibility or an idea, while the Chinese translation is much more certain with it. "A world" is vague, "you can create" is not very certain. You can create it, but you might not. There is still the possibility that you don't. However, the Chinese translation uses 你将创造的世界, with 将 meaning "will" in this context. "The world" carries implications of an already concrete plan or image, "you will create" is very certain. You are going to create this new world. There was never any consideration that you would say no, or decide not to do it. You will.

"Paragon, just cut through the night/Guide us with your beacon of light" -> "Morning star, illuminate the dark/Guide us with your light"

So this one's interesting, considering the Chinese used 启明星 here, which means morning star (a bright planet, usually Venus, seen in the eastern sky before sunrise). Paragon means "a person or thing that is regarded as a perfect example of a particular quality". Very fitting with Nice's theme! But morning star means something else now - there might be biblical implications, but I'm not familiar with that and don't want to get anything too wrong there, so i focused on interpreting it as "bringer of light", as can be seen from the following lines "just cut through the night/illuminate the dark". Nothing to say about "guide us with your beacon of light/guide us with your light", it means the exact same thing. "Paragon" is a very fitting word for Nice's whole theme, but "启明星 Morning star" is rather fitting with the visuals.

right side of the screen... east... literally shining light down from above the masses who are sitting in the dark... light coming from the right/east... he floats above them, a step above them all, in the "eastern sky"... seems quite fitting with "morning star"!

his theme in general. the many stars, the pure unstained white cloth, the doves, the singular larger sun/star emblem above him... morning star! (and the golden ratio in the back, for perfection!) (if I remember correctly doves also have some spiritual/biblical meaning. salvation I think?)

now that is the end of a rather long yap. I feel that overall the Chinese translation sounds a little more optimistic and determined (?) than the original English lyrics, which is interesting! Can't wait to see how Nice and Lin Ling's story unfolds :)

上週到這週我和女兒見面約會兩次；自從她從紐西蘭回來之後，她又隻身去了一趟南韓/釜山過聖誕節假期，並且她正兼職和學習鉤針手藝課忙碌於準備今年快則二月、慢則三月將去愛爾蘭自助旅遊和工作，她告訴我學習手藝若在愛爾蘭鄉村工作之餘她才不會無聊 。🥱😜haha

她兩週前到另一個城市刺青，這是她人生的第一朵七彩小花刺青，我覺得超可愛的，花兒挺像她的風格。然後我告訴她：我怎麼第一眼聯想到「奧運會標誌」。😂 她又告訴我：她將會在手腕處再買一個刺青是中文字：「羽」。（羽毛 🪶的’羽’是她的中文名字的最後一個字。) um hummm… sounds cool! 😎 🫶 and 我跟女兒說：聽過有此一説～”但凡刺青之人都會對紋身上癮。”😏🤔

説真的，我很喜歡觀察並且好奇研究別人身上的刺青。我曾經夢想過、也被承諾過要和心愛的人一起去刺青作為「永生的紀念」，但遺憾的是我的命中不可能會有這樣的事：一生永遠在一起/雙雙對對，因為只要任何人變成我的夢，這夢就會碎。🥲💩🦕

TGCF Draft vs. Final: Chapts. 1-2

The only difference in Chapter 1 is that the story of Xie Lian's first banishment is completely changed. It erases the events of the Xianle civil war from Xie Lian's mythology: the part where he's warned by Jun Wu that the gods are forbidden from meddling in the mortal realm, the fact that Xie Lian voluntarily descended to help his kingdom, or any mention of him being "unwilling" to accept his "punishment" of being banished. The final only says that he fell from heaven because his people, unwilling to believe that they could worship a god so and still suffer as they did, turned on him, and the subsequent lack of worship caused him to fall back to the mortal realm. There's also more emphasis on the fact that the other gods used to watch him for entertainment for years starting from the ill-fated parade until they got bored and simply tuned out. Any mention of his powers being sealed is erased.

Chapter 2 is where we really get into the plot and character changes.

Major Changes:

Mu Qing and Feng Xin are no longer generals. They are just ascended gods, with their "general titles" becoming their Daoist names.

In the above quote, mxtx also apparently decreased the amount of temples dedicated to Mu Qing, a fact I did not catch until I made this post 😭

Keeping up with the titles change: Ling Wen directly refers to Mu Qing and Feng Xin by name, and neither she nor the narration call them “zhenjun,” anymore. However, she, herself, is still referred to as “zhenjun” by the narration.

The gods of the middle court are not "deputy gods" but "god attendants" now.

在八百年前，曾是侍立在仙乐宫太子殿座下的一名副将。 Eight hundred years ago, he was a deputy general at the Xianle Palace of the Crown Prince.

Mu Qing's aggression is reduced by a lot. He speaks less (thank god) and doesn't immediately come out attacking Xie Lian, instead, quietly informing him that his ascension destroyed a lot of stuff. However, you can still catch hints of Mu Qing's viper personality, such as still directly ensuring that nobody lends Xie Lian helpers for his mission. Also in the final edit, Xie Lian says that he couldn't recognize Mu Qing by his voice because the latter never used to speak to him "so gently" in the past. His sarcasm is yet unchanged.

The aggression taken from Mu Qing seems to have been directly applied to Ling Wen, who is lowkey meaner to Xie Lian. She's not offering him help or a way out of convos as often as she does in the draft version. It seems like she's really pissed about the work she has to do fixing up Xie Lian's destructive entrance lmao!

Minor changes:

Xie Lian offers to sweep the main street of the immortal capital to earn merits, and Ling Wen has to talk him down from it, a joke that seems to replace Xie Lian asking her if she would pay him the amount of merits owed if she kicks him down from the heavens.

Xie Lian doesn't enter into a "gambling channel" of the communication when he first joins. It's just dead silence. He also doesn't need the passcode to enter because Ling Wen gives him all of that info and directly tells him to enter to seek help about resolving his debt issue.

Small notes that aren't changes:

Xie Lian's "palace" is not the same as everyone else's "palaces." His palace is 宫/gōng which is a just a regular palace, but everyone else's palaces are called 殿/diàn, which are palaces of worship (though his "crown prince's palace" is 殿/diàn, just not "The Palace of Xianle"). If you see me refer to the other gods' abodes as "temple palaces," it's to stay true to that distinction. This isn't a revision change, it's just that both can be translated as "palace" in English so no other translation made the distinction.
