genuinely obsessed with and mesmerized by this footage in particular but i cannot find any full performance anywhere (i scoured every haldyn hotel performance i could. believe me) and it doesn't help that some guy in the comments said the footage is very rare ... this is unfortunate
youtube
this is like the only video i can find of it (on youtube at least i have yet to check any other sites)
this sure is peculiar
#this is my indirect way of asking if anyone knows what exact concert/performance this is from#im bad at asking for help when it comes to my main interests#anyway im actually obsessed with every detail of this for some reason#i like the part at the beginning where hirasawa looks visibly confused by his guitar being out of tune and quickly fixing it#because ughhhh me TOO king i relate#also that is surely indeed hikaru kotobuki that i spy on that keyboard i know that for a fact#which is further reasoning to find this#.....somewhere#and i cant really read anything else in the video or title besides ''hirasawa susumu - haldyn hotel'' which is all it is it seems#WHAT IS THIS!!! what do y’all think illario’s hobbies are? what is he interested in? what does he do in his spare time? what does he know a lot about the nobody would expect? what did he love as a kid that he hasn’t thought about in years but could jump back into in a heartbeat if given the chance? what are his wyverns and cooking and knitting and romance novels?
who would he be if you took him away from his family and his job and the politics of it all? i don’t think he even knows the answer to that, but there still has to be an answer!
#i’ve been playing with the idea of him liking mystery novels#playing detective as a little kid (specifically the fun charismatic poirot-style fictional detective)#maybe even using knowledge from his crow training as a teenager to come up with murder mysteries of his own#idk how in character it is but i like it#(though i might just be biased as a mystery enjoyer myself)#and i can also definitely see him playing an instrument but i haven’t decided what#maybe violin?? i can see that for him but again i am biased bc i grew up playing violin#UGH i can imagine him getting first chair and being so proud only for caterina to not care bc it’s not what he’s Supposed to be the best at#anyway#i just know that boy was always a performer#but i want more than that!!!! mostly just so i can imagine in my head what he’d be like post-game#if he left treviso to travel with aleister in a sort of informal exile#and had to rediscover who he is without the crows in the same way that lucanis did at the lighthouse#illario dellamorte#illario dragon age#dragon age#datv#dav#davg#dragon age the veilguard

#i've been struggling to find the right words to articulate this#but everything that's happened w/ masquerade nyc has felt so in line with what we've come to expect from ALW in general and wrt his musical#like you're telling me the same guy who didn't think it was important to plan anything for the final public performance of a deeply-#-loved show that ran on broadway for 35 years also didn't plan effectively for introducing a large scale immersive production to an-#-audience that likely has 0 prior experience with immersive theater?#you're telling me the same guy who time and time again has shown a profound disrespect for the people cast in his shows by not informing-#-them that they'd be out of a job before the news went public is also opening a new show that has been extremely cagey about sharing-#-helpful information (age requirement/dates/dress code/prices etc) in a timely manner?#i know ALW is not solely and/or directly responsible for these decisions but it's His show and His company#so these Thoughts are directed at both him and the overlapping higher-level staff across the musical and immersive production#and let me add a disclaimer that i think what the minds behind masquerade nyc are trying to do creatively is super cool and i'm confident-#-that a lot of passion and dedication has gone into this project (on top of tons of hard work from everyone involved at every level)#which is partly why i think all the issues surrounding it are so frustrating to everyone. like we all want to be excited about it!#anyways none of this is really that Deep i just wanted to try and articulate my thoughts on this whole thing without getting too-#-involved in the discourse of it all . that is why i've written this 5 paragraph essay in the tags#editing this to add that none of this even touches on the issues with the production not being open about the accessibility of the venue-#-to the point where people had to DM the IG account to ask. like i get that they want to build hype based on mystery and intrigue but-#-there are certain compromises you have to make when it comes to planning and executing something of this scale

the kink got out of hand, sorry

then what ARE the words you want to say

I can't believe they really went with "antagonist gets amnesia, vaguely recognises the protagonist and decides that they are besties actually" trope
#being silly to distract myself from the pain#li lianhua#di feisheng#mysterious lotus casebook#mlc#kk's liveblog tag#(I don't want to think about llh's impending death tyvm)#(deeply fascinated by him going ''yeaaaah. Have A-Fei perform on the streets'' this fucking guy.#llh is a true theatre kid with how many random tragic backstories he makes up. Yeaaaah your life was so tragic I rescued you and told#You to save people to repay the debt. Then you got captured and what not etc etc)#''people say 10 lies a day'' is a statistical error. Lying Georg who says 10000 lies per day shoudl not have been counted#dihua#<= is that their ship name?

Sometimes I look back at s6 of the dragon prince and the whole viren-soren situation, and it's still beyond me that some people really defended that shit with "actually it's not a problem that soren didn't get closure because it's realistic"
Said about a character who should have very severe PTSD from murdering his father among other things mind you
#like yeah sure buddy it was done for the sake of realism okay#in general just- people defending the mystery of aaravos with “you're mad cuz it's not what you expected”#honey- were you there during the hiatus? don't you know no one had a fucking clue on where the story was gonna go?#and that's why the fandom fought tooth and nail to promote the show?#“you're mad because it's not what you wanted” I don't think it's insane to say that a show shouldn't loose track of what it was about#and instead become just very well performed fanservice whether it's about shipping or empty angst that goes nowhere#i will never not be upset- to think i even started the show to heal from that other tragedy that was Voltron...#the dragon prince#the mystery of aaravos#tdp soren

Something about Charlie's 1.1 Garment makes me feel really bad for her
Like, you have her smiling, but then you have the reflection; showtime vs backstage
I would not be surprised if Charlie had a serious case of imposter syndrome; after all, who is she, outside of the spotlight?
A tyrant? A regular girl under the rule of William III?
No one knows, not even herself...
Oh my, I hadn't noticed that detail
Poor girl definitely struggles with keeping up that facade. It always seems to slip, and she doesn't seem pretty comfortable when it does.
I haven't read her story so I wonder about her past, if her personality and her ways of acting have something to do with that (This is reverse ofc it does)
Sometimes she feels like she doesn't belong there, that all the fame is not hers, and that she doesn't deserve all of it. It's a shame, nothing can make her feel deserving, but of course she won't say that out loud.
She needs someone to hold her from time to time, it's unfortunate she would never let anyone know. Behind that tough barrier, antisocial behavior and confusing personality, there's someone who doesn't know how to deal with herself.
She needs a hug
#reverse 1999#defining sanity#may a hug be upon ye#🙏#I feel like Charlie is such an ambiguous character#Nobody knows much about her#what she likes. what she does outside of acting. what her interest are#nobody knows much except from what she wants us to know#different from Isolde who is vulnerable and mysterious despite being a performer#she manages a different kind of personality that not even she knows how to deal with#my baby get a hug 🫂

Hush...Hush, Sweet Charlotte (1964)
"Miriam? He really... isn't here, is he? Just now, I thought I heard... sometimes at night, when I wake up, it seems as if he really is here. Don't turn on the light. It's not real when it's light. It's only real when it's dark - dark and still."
#hush...hush sweet charlotte#hush...hush‚ sweet charlotte#robert aldrich#1964#american cinema#lukas heller#henry farrell#bette davis#olivia de havilland#joseph cotten#agnes moorehead#cecil kellaway#victor buono#mary astor#wesley addy#william campbell#bruce dern#george kennedy#frank ferguson#frank de vol#Aldrich's follow up to Baby Jane reunited him with star Davis (and initially Crawford‚ until she left the project under a cloud; she can#just about be glimpsed in one of the long shots of cousin Miriam arriving at the house by taxi) and even provides a cameo for Baby Jane co#star Buono. the rest of his cast is also notably starry: de Havilland‚ Cotten‚ Moorehead‚ even a genuine cinematic legend like Astor not to#mention a pre fame Dern and Kennedy. sadly all that increased star power doesn't translate to a film even better than its predecessor#this is solid‚ a strong and sweaty gothic grotesquerie‚ but it's a little flabby and nowhere near as sharp or as honed as Baby Jane was#Davis often goes very large and brushes caricature more than once with her faded Southern belle but to give her her dues there are other#moments of true heartbreaking beauty in her performance. de Havilland is also very strong altho maybe tips her hat a little soon in#revealing the true personality lingering beneath the surface of her mysterious outsider. Aldrich is as strong as ever helming a killer#fantasy sequence... tbh the more i think about it the kinder my memory of this becomes. it has just one main flaw and that's that it isn't#Baby Jane. but then what is? Aldrich never quite hit those heights again (tho he did some p great work) and this is a commendable try

Person reading this can you tell me your favorite story and why it was the way that it was.
#.txt#I'm overthinking narrative structure but I can't think of what I would say. I just finished a Tarantino movie#So I am thinking of the genres it came from.#Westerns feel so definitive of at least like American cinema. Even though she was mostly Italian. And I've been very Italian cinema pilled#I enjoy a bit of unravelling but more so as developing context naturally rather than a twist#I think I have to go pick Stalker because I keep going back to it.#If not just for porcupines story. The professor is also really interesting. And the author is more so a typical author to me but he provide#A certain enrichment for everyone involved.#Twin peaks I enjoy framing as a medieval heros story that fell apart for meta textual reasons.#There are other stories I'm thinking of that I think we're told we'll but not scratching the itch I'm having#Which I think would mostly be defined as a detective story which twin peaks for sure falls under but why am I thinking about stalker.#I feel like understanding motivations of the characters in the movie is very interesting and it's certainly mysterious but it's not really#A mystery. There is a central unknown. It's got that post war feel which is very noir.#But other key things don't really line up the more I think about it.#Any way all this started because Crystal Plumage was so good on a way that I want to compare it directly to blue velvet#Neither story is anything that like. Nothing was SURPRISING. But coming to understand the people in them was more mysterious than anything.#Rossilini vs renzi's characters especially.. I like them very much.#And also beautiful visual set pieces and the performances and the perversion#I'm thinking on it!!#I've talked a lot about movies I think I need to find a book that has an interesting structure to it...#Not house of leaves interesting but like Shakespeare. Solid ass foundation where everything has a purpose.#Though I'll be honest I've never had a heightened emotional reaction to a Shakespeare play idk if that should be factored into my brain#If you read all my rubber ducking tags thank youuu sorry!!

MLCB Concert: XSY's Farewell
In truth, I really don’t like this part, because it also represents that we are bidding our characters farewell for good.
In the morning, when I was getting my makeup done - in an instant, I returned to that summer. I felt that, to be together with good friends, and then having experienced as sweltering a summer as that…
Such an ardently hot-blooded jianghu was presented to everyone; to stand here today-- Because… Because, during the time of Mysterious Lotus Casebook’s initial broadcast, everyone and all the lianluorens must also be thanked. I know there must have been a lot of difficulties when it was first broadcasted, right? To have reached this step today, I think is already very good. I think it is a result of every person’s hard work.
Just now, when we were off-stage, Yan-laoshi said something I really like; in an instant, I lost my composure. I don’t think fate is something that will come with enough waiting, or something that can be insisted on having. It’s when there comes a day where we stand together and work hard to strive toward a common goal. The sentiments of that moment, I feel, last forever.
I hope, however many years later, everyone is still together - that lianluorens can still be together. Thank you, everyone. This summer, thank you to every person. Thank you to all my good companions; thank you, every single person.
Di Feisheng! Until we meet again!
【莲花楼演唱会】 Mysterious Lotus Casebook Concert - 20230916
江湖路远 山高水长 祝 「繁华」 似锦! The roads of the jianghu stretch far; the mountains are lofty, and the rivers are long. I wish your future to be as splendid as an embroidered tapestry! 「追光」 而行 不负初心 愿 永生难忘! Chase the light as you journey; live up to the original intentions of your heart. I hope this will be unforgettable for your lifetime!
Any mistakes are my own.
#mysterious lotus casebook#莲花楼#di feisheng#xiao shunyao#my translation#i doubt his studio purposefully intended to allude to FDB's goodbye video bc a lot of wuxia/jianghu sayings are all the same BUT#it makes me feel things nonetheless that there exist so many similarities#青山不改、绿水长流、后会有期#the jianghu is full of reunions; we will surely meet again#永生难忘: i hope you won't forget this story; i hope you won't forget your friendships#不忘初心#永生难忘: a promise made with a life - i will always remember you#come the next life we must meet again#i also really like what he said: 缘分不是等来的、不是可以要来的#if anyone wants some casual reading you should check out the wikipedia page for yuanfen lol#the more i ferment and ruminate the less i feel like “fate” is an adequate translation#but it's the most popular one#oh and if it wasn't clear enough lol his studio posted puns using the songs he performed

i don't like the pressure on artists to have a social media presence. i don't want to see your morning routine, in fact, i don't want to see you at all. Off you go to your cabin in appalachia to write 9 minute songs about the passage of time and the vastness of memory. You can still fuck your bassist but DON'T make a tiktok about it. your only existence to me should be on a name on the album cover.
#jokes aside i think this forces artist to perform humanity on a level that's fundamentally fake. you have to fake being “real”#and i think it waters down your art#you have to be humble about your art and promote it endlessly on tiktok and that makes it look like it's not something to be taken seriousl#since social media is inherently unserious#you cannot be aloof on social media. you cannot be mysterious. you have to bend your knee to the algorithms#you have to be human to the masses when that's something you should do in your private life#there used to be a clear line between your artist persona and the real you but this landscape demands you to only be the real you which is#still a persona mind you#it's an illusion of the real you#and of course that creates parasocial relationships#that is not what the dynamic between the artist and the fan should be#parasocial relationships have been a part of the culture but they have been more like a side effect not a requirement#i don't need to know *you* i need to know your art#i think that's what i'm trying to get at#the art should be the focus not the person behind it#we should know the artist only to the extent that the art reflects it#i think social media also fucks up the power balances between the fan and the artist because it makes the fan feel superior to the artist#even though i think the relationship should be equal. both parties appreciate the other but do not demand anything of each other#but now the algorithm demands things from artist through the fans. that distances the original intention of making art. it is no longer#tailored exactly to the artist's vision it is now tailored to the expectations of the algorithm#this mostly applies to new and indie artists but that's where all the cool shit is happening anyways#well not all but i'm of the belief that most cool or worthwhile art has not been discovered#sometimes gems will get unearthed but sometimes they don't need to be#point is we should always keep an eye on what is happening outside of the spotlight. sometimes the spotlight avoids cool stuff and sometime#the cool stuff avoids the spotlight#no idea if anything i said can be applied to anything ever but oh well it is 2am after all

You know, Random Strange thought that I kept having in mind.
If the Stupid Invaders movie wasn't cancelled, I kept having a strange feeling that the Villains would've been recast once again like in the Game version compare to how Bud & Stereo's voices were changed in Season 2 or the Cancelled Film Trailer (at least, if Stereo could've been in the film somewhere and not in the trailer).
I honestly wouldn't tell who would've played Dr. Saccharin, but the Theory Vision thing that comes within in mind is how I would've imagine Ben Kingsley voicing as Bolok in the Movie (at least in Synthese's Own English Dub & not have it be butchered much like with The "Other" Adaptation).
#fun fact: I just watched “Death and the Maiden” & was stunned with Kingsley's performance#and like...#honestly the character (dr. miranda) is what kept reminding me about questioning bolok's mysterious nature#kinda have been having a sense of a gutting feeling that maybe somewhere they'd probably would've had a few celebs to voice anyone#or maybe they'd probably would've kept the same voices as either in the game or show who knows#just wanted to share this stupid random thought#but I surely have a few theory predicts of what could've been towards cancelled media up in my sleeve#indie text#space goofs#stupid invaders#les zinzins de l'espace#xilam

Unpopular opinon: norris still a better driver than piastri but it seems like he has a mental block right now
I've made my opinion on this clear. I disagree. As far as hot takes go I'd say this is a 5/10 fandom wide, it's a 9/10 here specifically.
However, it's not a mental block, Lando has been pretty clear his issue is with the car and the fact he isn't comfortable and hasn't adapted to the car as well as Oscar this year. So I don't think it's a mystery with the current h2h.
#and I believe him because what he is saying about his feel in the car is reflected in his performances#so he is not getting along with this car as much#which is I imagine frustrating#its not some mystery mental block#anons#hot takes#I have been saying Oscar has much stronger racecraft for years and I think its been pretty clear#I havent seen a really impressive performance from Lando#I dont care about wins#I care about overtakes etc#watching that man attempt the same type of overtake every time is painful#idk how he hasn't learned or tried anything different

The pacing on the Silo 17 subplot is especially weird when you remember what got people hooked on the show is Rashida Jones and David Oyelowo having full arcs and character growth in 1-2 episodes and then BAM they're out and that momentum carries us through the introduction to Juliette and the gang in mechanical.
As a non-book viewer it seems like they maybe signed Ferguson to a contract of $$$ per season so they don't want to reduce her screen time when the plot requires her character be sidelined, so they just made her and Zahn have the same scene over and over again until it's finally time for her to go back to the A plot.
#to be clear zahn and ferguson were great and if their work got compressed into like 3 episodes it would be an absolute treat#but instead we have to watch juliette solve a mystery the audience got to 8 episodes ago#which is an insane writing choice bc zahn's performance tells you exactly what happened! like i didn't know it was supposed to be a twist#if it is a budget thing of justifying ferguson's salary to apple that's also insane bc now there's a guest star and underwater stunts#silo

More stellar canning advice from the UK: "Your rowan jam will keep for up to a year in a cool cupboard and like all jams once opened should be stored in the fridge and used up within a month. Please Note – We do not usually do water bath or other canning methods here in the UK. Our preserves keep perfectly well without this."
Just as their cats are uniquely able to dodge cars & mean children and so must run free, their insects uniquely disinterested in entering open windows and thus no need for window screens, so too are their jams uniquely impervious to spoilage and thus require no proper canning. I wish I could think that this person was an outlier, but unfortunately this is the state of food preservation in this country. There's a lot of similar advice in Germany as well, though I don't know about the rest of Europe.
#I can't imagine sticking an unsealed jar of jam on a shelf for a year & hoping for the best#unsurprisingly UK canning advice also includes a lot of very cavalier suggestions about scraping away mold when you open a jar of jam#I am not a stickler for food safety nor am I overly concerned about a spot of mold#the thing about this that bugs me is the implication that UK 'method' -- ie doing basically nothing -- is somehow superior or even adequate#and that steam/water bath canning are neurotic & unnecessary activities performed by foreigners#just because your jam never killed anyone doesn't mean it's not causing other mysterious and unpleasant GI issues#which might be better avoided#plus no way am I giving someone else jam that might later show mold#have some personal dignity & pride in your preserves folks#earlier I observed Delia Smith's official website telling people to just scrape the mold off non-heat-processed jam#like lady are you _trying_ to get sued or what
