then i acknowledged that the team i work with consists mainly of underpaid workers who are stressing the fuck out WHY this is happening to them. the battered workers who do work hard to make customers happy at the bottom chain of corporate.

most of these orders were a whole ass pizza these customers didnt have to pay for.

$0.00 for a whole ass large hand-tossed pizza with toppings that averaged.. a little less than $30. free. free. free. some additions that they wanted that did have a charge.

they all filled the lobby and were waited impatiently and my team was like getting FUCKED

i defended them. thats not fair. i just.. asked because i laughed because it amazed me.

The air changes halfway through, it sharpens, sweetens, like candy left too long in a drawer. And when you emerge, brushing dust from your knees and blinking in the golden dim, it’s like slipping into a dream someone else tailored just for you. The house is almost the same. But the sky is tinged with lavender, the trees outside sway too slowly, as if underwater. The clocks tick backward. Somewhere, a gramophone crackles an old lullaby, warped and warbled, but gentle.

“Welcome home, darling.”

The voice curls around you like smoke; soft, familiar, but tinged with something sweeter. Too sweet. You turn. And there he is. Taehyun. He leans in the doorway like he’s been waiting centuries. His smile is easy, lazy. His eyes — oh, his eyes are wrong. Too bright. Too knowing. And instead of irises, they shine like polished obsidian. No whites. No pupils. Just deep, endless buttons, smooth as glass. But he’s beautiful, and you hate that your heart stutters.

"Poor thing," he murmurs, stepping closer. "You looked so tired back there. All alone. He never sees you, does he?" You open your mouth, maybe to protest, maybe to lie; but your throat knots. His fingers brush your cheek. Cold. Perfect. Possessive.
