If the Whitebeard Commanders had a Minecraft server
The people who play regularly: Ace, Jozu, Thatch, Blamenco, Namur, Haruta, Atmos
The people who play occasionally: Marco, Vista, Rakuyo, Curiel, Kingdew, Jiru, Izou
The people who never play: Blenheim, Fossa
Thatch is more than happy to be everybody's little housewife, staying at the base puttering around doing the crafting and building. Blamenco and Atmos are his usual assistants -- Atmos is really good at redstone and makes efficient farms that Thatch then makes pretty, Blamenco builds huge sprawling warehouses to neatly store all the resources and then goes on errands to collect those resources.
Jozu is the mole man, he lives in the mines. Occasionally he comes up to get more food or wood or to dump hundreds of stacks of various minerals and then he disappears again. Namur and Ace spend most of their time exploring and can usually be found in the nether. Haruta is also an explorer but mostly they're a terrible evil little cryptid who shows up, plays pranks, and then vanishes again. Everybody lives in fear of Haruta.
Rakuyo actually plays fairly often but nobody ever knows or sees him because he fucked 10,000 blocks off in a random direction the very first day and is still out there exploring. Sometimes he accidentally jumpscares the other explorers. Mostly if you know he's there it's because he crossed paths with Haruta, and now they've destroyed half a dozen chunks griefing each other.
Also into griefing, surprisingly, is Curiel. He Likes To Blow Stuff Up. Often he'll be the one who ends Haruta and Rakuyo's nonsense by just carpet bombing their whole war zone.
Jiru, Vista, and Marco play like normal people when they come hang out. Jiru likes horses and elytra and enjoys carrying messages or resources for people. Vista joins the nether boys, and Marco likes to hang out around everybody's bases. Sometimes Izou will show up and just sweep through the base decorating everything and tidying up the spaces that have been ignored, but tbh he doesn't play often.
Kingdew is basically a cryptid. He logs on when nobody else is playing, systematically breaks and rebuilds somebody's base one block to the left, then leaves again. Sometimes he leaves ominously-worded signs littered around the world for people to find, or puts player heads in peoples houses. He'll do this almost daily for a couple weeks and then, when everybody else is at each others throats wondering who tf is messing with everything, he'll stop. Haruta once found an entire torture dungeon built under their secret underground base. As far as anybody knows, Kingdew doesn't play Minecraft.
Blenheim and Fossa both have accounts and have been on the server a couple times, but mostly neither of them are super into it. Blenheim played long enough to figure out how to set up sound blocks and redstone to play Rolling Up, Rolling Down whenever someone enters the main base and then he never logged on again. Fossa doesn't mind watching Rakuyo play for a little while, but he's not super big on video games.

Some Whitebeard Pirate Excerpts
"But," Rakuyo whimpers. He sounds so very small. "But I'm your son."
Whitebeard's face remains cold. "I have so many sons."
"Oh shit," Marco chokes. "Rakuyo, run!"
The call is picked up and echoed, his siblings crying out for him. He hears the cooler heads among them holding the others back from rushing to their own deaths trying to save him. "It's too late for him!" They shout. "There's nothing we can do, he's a goner!"
Not without a fight. He scrambles at the ground on all fours, animal-afraid, and tries to force enough speed into his fragile, mortal limbs to escape what's coming. He barely makes it two feet before Whitebeard's shadow falls over him like a physical thing, oppressive and heavy. Stifling all the air in his lungs.
Someone screams "Pops, you'll kill him!"
There is the boom of displaced air. Rakuyo has just enough time to think this isn't how I thought I'd die. Then, all at once, the world goes dark.
Whitebeard's massive fucking pillow is practically the size of Rakuyo's entire body, and it slams over him with a fwump that squishes him flat and knocks the breath out of him and sends a spray of oversized feathers up into the air. Some of Rakuyo's siblings have continued their dramatics, and from under the very soft weight currently crushing him to death and muffling his ears he can hear Haruta wailing "He was so young!" and Thatch's hysterical "He had so much to live for!"
Rakuyo gets a corner of the pillow pried up enough to drag in a breath of fresh air, only to immediately inhale a feather and almost actually die choking on it. The rest of the gathered crew are avenging his gruesome murder, and Whitebeard is now fending off most of his children while they attempt to collectively beat him to death with pillows.
Pops, the bastard, just laughs.
It's Blamenco who comes to actually help pry the goddamn pillow off of Rakuyo so he can escape it's down-filled clutches. "You're the only person in this family who actually loves me," Rakuyo tells him.
“That ain’t true and you know it,” his brother scolds him, but he’s grinning, too. “Look, they’re all killing Pops for you. That’s gotta count for something.”
Rakuyo sighs. “Only if they actually manage it.”
------------------------------------------------
“Wh— Is this therapy?” Ace sputters. “Are you therapizing me right now?!”
From somewhere behind him, Jiru mutters, “That’s not a word.”
Kingdew raises his eyebrows. “Without your consent? I would never. It would be malpractice.”
“You lost your license,” Ace seethes.
“For murder,” Kingdew peacefully informs him. “Not malpractice. I’m very serious about the privacy of my patients.”
Ace grits his teeth until his jaw aches. “You are a lying liar who lies.”
“I am?”
“Yes!” Ace waves a hand vaguely at the two of them, and the table they’re sitting at, and the — the fucking hot chocolate. “You’re… trying to get me to talk about my problems because your whole thing is beating up everybody’s brain goblins for them. You’re like, obsessed with the crew’s mental health. I’m onto your game.”
“My game?”
“You’re like—“ Ace grapples with the words. “You’ve got like, that thing, where you can’t do a lot of physical lifting or chores or fighting sometimes because of the fibro-thing, so you try to make up for it by being everybody’s shrink because it’s something you can do even when you can’t stand up.”
Kingdew nods, thoughtfully, like they’re having a debate and Ace is raising interesting points. “Hm…” he muses. “Now who’s therapizing?”
“It’s still you!” Ace shouts. “You’re doing a — a one of those — reverse psychic things on me! Well it’s not gonna work!”
“It already did,” Kingdew informs him, all innocence. Ace can practically see his fucking halo glinting. “You just told me you think it’s normal for people to feel like they have to earn their right to exist.”
“That’s — I —” Ace gapes, too stunned to even really argue. “You’re an asshole,” He realizes.
“Hmmm,” Kingdew intones. “And how does that make you feel?”
“Oh, fuck you!” Ace jumps up from the table, snatches up the hot chocolate (it’s good hot chocolate, and shouldn’t be ruined by — by shitty therapizing crew mates!) and storms out of the room.
Before he slams the door behind him, he hears Pops’s voice, a deep rumbling sight. “Do you really have to come down that hard on him? You’ll scare him off.”
“I don’t know what you mean.” Kingdew sounds way too goddamn pleased with himself. “We’re making great progress.”

Rules!!
Here are some rules for my content. These may change in the near future, but for now, here’s what they are:
I accept requests for male, female, and gender-neutral (gn) readers. However, please note that I might not always get it perfect, as I am female and sometimes unintentionally use "she/her" when I mean "he/him" or "they/them." This applies to character x character content as well. I will try my best, but I can’t guarantee that it will align perfectly with canon.
I am open to writing mlm (male x male), wlw (female x female), and mlw (male x female) pairings depending on your request.
I’m okay with multi x reader requests; however, if you're going to send in requests, please be specific. It helps if you have a main character x reader in mind.
Feel free to request what you want! I’ll most likely do it, but if something makes me uncomfortable, I won’t write it.
**Please don’t spam.**
Sometimes it might take a while for me to post fics, but I will try to post at least once a week.
Thank you for understanding.

Sabo/Ace pregnancy: big emotions. Dragon and Crocodile are surprised but also love their boys and don’t want to make things worse or more chaotic — but at the same time its hard to parce bow Ace is feeling other than “overwhelmed” so Croc and Dragon can’t act too happy or sympathetic — just emphasizing they love Ace and will always support him (but seriously Ace do you want this baby because we can’t tell)
Marco/Ace pregnancy: Dragon is cautiously optimistic but Crocodile is BEYOND pissed and suspicious of this older man ‘ruining’ his oldest son’s life with a pregnancy early in his (very successful) pirating career. He remembers how disruptive Luffy was, how hard it was, but he and Dragon were in *love* and Dragon was saving the *world* and Marco is just a *pirate* like sure he’s a doctor but a NON pirate doctor knocking up a boy half his age would be suspicious ANYWHERE. What kind of self respecting pirate doctor doesn’t wear a CONDOM?
Oooh, yes! I love both scenarios!
With Sabo there really would be a lot of big emotions, considering the family dynamics. Are they supposed to reprimand? No, that would just make it worse and just because Dragon and Crocodile have adopted both, that doesn't mean these two (who haven't seen each other in 10 years) would have too many hang ups about it. But on the off-chance that they do, bringing shame into it really isn't going to help anyone. (Would Sabo even know?)
And with Marco...! Of course Crocodile would be outraged. Marco is his age, the guy should be more responsible!! And he's a Whitebeard pirate. I feel Crocodile would just be projecting. Especially if he had, at any point, been a WB pirate himself or is WB's son. He'd probably get angry at Dragon too for telling him that Marco comes across as kind and responsible Marco. Responsible?! What guy in his 40s knocks up a guy in his 20s??! Dragon shouldn't get into the line of fire. X3

Kid pirates and Whitebeard pirates with a singer!reader who specializes in soft vocalizations? (the best example I can think of is Lana Del Rey's Salvatore) maybe reader sings for the crew during celebrations or sings to them one on one if someone in the crew needs something to help sooth them !
─Kid Pirates & Whitebeard Pirates x singer!reader
─Summary: the discovery of your voice was a ray of tranquility for these crews
─Warnings: none
nah this is so cute 😔🫶🏻
─ It's quite unusual to have a moment of calm in this crew, with such an explosive and impulsive captain and a crew that would follow him to hell, fights and celebrations were almost daily.
─ Of course, you were part of that stupid brutality, however you do not indulge in the frenzy that most people carry here.
─ You like to sing, whether you were born with a good voice or you tried hard enough to get to the right pitch, it was a hobby that required calmness and silence, two things that were quite unusual in this crew.
─ And probably no one noticed if it weren't for Heat overhearing you once by chance, he's one of those who appreciates calm from time to time just like Wire.
─ So at the next party, a drunk Kid approached you, urging you to please them with some song, because someone had told him you had a pretty voice.
─ You didn't feel like it was the right time, when they were making bets, juggling things on fire and absurd challenges, even Killer told you that it wasn't a good time because no one would listen to you.
─ But Kid's insistence made you go up to the improvised stage, that is, two boxes and a couple of barrels, asking for silence didn't help much so you just started with your thing.
─ Ignoring all the background noise you focused on using your vocal cords correctly, as it was quite important to reach the soft tone you liked.
─ Everyone became quieter the louder you sang, until they were completely silent just to hear your voice.
─ For you it was a simple warm-up, but for them it was something they had never heard before.
─ You received a cheer from drunks that made you laugh at how silly they looked, as well as the stupid things they said to you about being related to mermaids or something.
─ From that moment on, they ask you to have your rehearsals, which were previously solitary, in the stern so that everyone can appreciate your singing, it doesn't bother you knowing that they really enjoy it and it provides a little peace within a crew of bloodthirsty people.
─ Killer will ask you to help him in the kitchen from time to time, he likes it when you hum while you prepare everything, it makes the time go by faster.
─ Kid will also ask for it when a project is not going the way he wants and he needs to de-stress, something sweet and soft always manages to calm him down, at least that and a glass of whiskey.
─ Heat and Wire are like your groupies since they appreciate calm the most, that and you were stuck with them on most of the ship's chores, and you inevitably end up humming to kill the boredom or at their request.
─ It's not that loud of a crew, yes, they have a lot of unnecessary parties sometimes, but overall it's pretty quiet, also because most of the crew have other ships besides the Moby Dick.
─ Marco was the one who discovered your love of singing, he listened to you while you were showering one night, and although he didn't pressure you to make it “public” since you hadn't had a chance to give a concert yet, he was like a proud mother ranting about how pretty it was your voice.
─The next few days you have Ace and Thatch begging to hear something because they were bored and Marco couldn't stop commenting on how well you sang, so it was your first private audition.
─ These two slept like babies after you reached the softer tones of the song, no one had ever blessed their ears like that.
─ Absolutely everyone knows that you have the most beautiful voice on the planet (according to Ace) after that, so the people you are closest to who were unaware of this side of you asked you for a demonstration.
─ Of course Whitebeard already knew this before anyone else, only that he wasn't going to force you to do shows for the crew if you didn't want to share your hobby, you only started to bring out this side of yourself when you gained more trust with everyone and felt comfortable.
─ Then you started singing more often with the crew acting as an audience, you always received applause even if you were just warming up your vocal cords.
─ Marco now takes the medications that are harmful to your throat very strictly, he doesn't want your voice to be ruined by being so pretty.
─ Ace and Thatch, your number one fans, probably the founders of your fan group, have a board in the kitchen with photos of you as if you were one of those famous singers that appear in the newspapers.
─ Sometimes you and Izo perform to entertain the crew, he dances and you sing.
─ You usually leave the ship to go work in some bars, since you like it, it doesn't hurt to make money from your passion if you can.
─ When someone spends a lot of time away traveling on missions, you are one of the first people they visit, all the fatigue seems to go away when they hear your voice.
─ Thatch will also ask you to help him clean up the mess in the kitchen because he knows you'll start humming while you two clean, making the task much more enjoyable.
─ You better start to believe you are a superstar because Ace will spread the word so much that he has a friend who sings like angels that your reward poster will be forgotten compared to your rumors.
─ This great family is proud of you and the achievements that you set for yourself, whether as a pirate or as a singer, whatever path you end up choosing, they will be there for you.

fans can believe what they want about who is really responsible for Ace's death but it just really rubs me the wrong way when some fans are so victim blamy and say that Ace got himself killed. okay yes he did put himself in harms way by giving in to Akainu's taunting of Whitebeard and had to save Luffy but I think the narrative makes it clear that he was doomed to death no matter what.
I just think it's very clear that the main reason the navy wanted to put Ace to death was first and foremost because he was Roger's son, not because of his own crimes of piracy. sure the Marines made a public show of it because they wanted to start a war with Whitebeard and executing his second division commander would provoke Whitebeard into waging that war. however, I think the navy would have had a public execution for any of the WB pirates that they could've gotten their hands on, it just happened to be Ace because of Blackbeard capturing him. remember, Blackbeard was originally planning on turning in Luffy to the Marines. him getting Ace instead is what instigated the Marines declaring war on Whitebeard.
the thing is, they would have executed Ace no matter what though, regardless of him being a Whitebeard pirate and regardless of him being a pirate at all. nothing would change the fact that Ace was the biological son of the Pirate King. the navy had been trying to kill Ace since before he was born. he was doomed from the start. the fact that they would have killed him as an infant should be enough to show that the Marines would have targeted Ace no matter what, so Akainu (or any Marine) killing him was basically inevitable. that doesn't say to me that Ace caused his own death.
there is nothing that Ace could or should have done - or shouldn't have done - that could have saved him. that's why I don't like when some fans say he died because of a "yo daddy joke." I just don't see it that way at all.
Ace's life was in danger the moment he was conceived just because of who had fathered him. he understandably resented that as it caused him a great deal of pain. he eventually found his true father in Whitebeard, who he loved and respected unconditionally and probably felt that love and respect back. however misguided, it's no wonder that he stopped and faced off against Akainu for insulting Whitebeard.
Ace famously never ran away from a fight, not just because he thought it was cowardly, but because he was worried he would leave something (someone) behind. then Akainu goes on to taunt Ace about WB retreating, essentially running away, and Ace might be projecting and think that Akainu is saying that Whitebeard is leaving him (Ace) behind. Ace can't retreat because that would be putting his loved ones in danger, so Whitebeard also can't retreat for the same reason in Ace's mind. and Akainu implying that WB would turn his back on his loved ones is what makes Ace stop and challenge him. at least that's how I interpret that interaction.
he died protecting Luffy and standing up for Whitebeard. he died protecting his brother and chosen father. protecting their life and reputation respectively. I think that's so tragic and beautiful and I think something is lost when it's joked about and sneered at as Ace just being a pig-headed idiot who couldn't take some taunting about his captain.
yes, in hindsight it was a dumb decision to stop and argue with Akainu on the battlefield as they were making their escape. I'm not saying he didn't make a fatal mistake. I just think too many fans take it at face value and see nothing more than Ace falling for a stupid taunt without unpacking why Ace did that. he's a flawed character and his flaws had consequences and repercussions but more importantly, when looking at it narratively, that flaw makes sense.

Bruises and bad habits
Whitebeard loved all his children. He liked hearing about them. Watching them make progress in the things they loved to do. Weather that was getting stronger or completing a project they wanted to do. It was all he could do not to just cheer them on every day.
Ace was his newest son and the most troublesome. His favorite kind of child. The ones that could hardly be handled they were too wild. They always made life interesting and fun. Ace also reminded the older man of a few past friends that he used to have. Ones that never listened and always did what they wanted. Ace listened a littler better than the boy’s biological father but that meant very little to Whitebeard. After all Ace is his son now and nothing would change that.
Ace lived up to that chaos too. Especially when sparing with the others. Pops knew that it would make others stronger too. Ace always went all out. Only holding back enough not to kill anyone. No matter how the fight progressed. It was a little worrying at first.
A sibling was charging forward, when Ace used his flames. Making the other jump back, his sleeve on fire. Everyone was moving before they could stop. Trying to put out the fire. The sibling yelling out. Until they noticed that his fire wouldn’t burn them. Ace stared at everyone with large eyes. Just watching them. “It doesn’t hurt?” The sibling with fire on their sleeve said. They reached out to touch it.
“Don’t do that.” Ace said, “It’s not burning you but the heat might still hurt.”
Marco stared jaw a gape, as Thatch threw an arm around him. “Wow, already knows you’re trick. Ace is gonna beat you with fire manipulation.”
“How long did you say you’ve had you’re devil fruit?” Marco asked, thinking of how long it too him to learn this little trick. His fire wasn’t even used for burning. But he had to be careful when he was younger. Just because the default setting didn’t burn didn’t mean it wasn’t capable of doing so. Marco had burned a few things from losing control his his emotions.
Ace turned around to smile at them. “Just over a year.” That wasn’t enough time to learn this. Just what was Ace doing to gain such control over his powers?
Ace of course, would never tell them how he learn it. Just saying that he ‘just did.’ And leaving it at that. How he managed to train his fruit so quickly in the time he said he had it, they wouldn’t know. Not that Marco wasn’t dying to know how. He would just have to bother Ace about it later.
Later Ace would explain again that he didn’t do anything all that strange. He just had to get off the island, but maintain the heat and power of his fire. That was all the training he did. When Marco tried to use the striker after that be got it. Just that kind of control with a very flammable person behind you was enough to learn control.
If the fire wasn’t a problem it was the way that Ace seemed to always be able to find the weak point in others was. Ace moved about like he owned the place. His steps bouncing off the mast or off the railing. Almost as if he grew up on a ship. Every move was calculated. Chosen to get Ace as closer to his target as possible. Without over shooting what he wanted.
Now that pops could see the boy from an outside perspective, it was easy to see why he won against Jimbe. Why the world government wanted him to be a war lord next, rather than a pirate. Fighting him would be a pain to do all the time. The boy was always improving. When he gets knocked away he’s already got a new idea at how to attack. Not afraid to go again until he doesn’t get hit.
There was a problem with this. It was that the boy would get hurt. There wasn’t a time that Ace didn’t have some kind of bruise on him form one or more of their crew. It was better than when he was trying to kill, their captain but still. If that was all they could learn to deal with it. Ace would get better soon and he wouldn’t get hurt as much.
But when he got hurt the boy would up and disappear on them. Making Marco, the nurses, and Deuce run around looking for him. He was never in the same place either. Sometimes he would be hiding in a storage room. Other times he was hiding on or in the sails. It was all just a guessing game. It didn’t help that Ace being hurt was the only time the boy could hide better than any haki user. Well except for one. One that wasn’t quite willing to help them. After all his son wanted to hide away from all the poking that he himself hated. What kind of father would force him to deal with that, unless if was life and death. Ace was fine. The boy always bounced back. So Pops didn’t mind him hiding in his shadow, or under his coat. As long as he could keep track of the boy himself, it was fine.
It helped that Ace’s viver card wasn’t burning away to nothing. Meaning there was no reason to fear that he was going to die.
“ACE! YOU BRAT!” Marco yelled, frustrated that the boy had once again gotten away. If this kept up they weren’t going to let him spar with anyone but Marco. It was getting so annoying trying to hunt the boy down.

Appraise Love (Wb Pirates x Reader fanfic) Chapter 1
Ohhh, look at me posting another chapter for this! Somehow, this is something I took better to in comparison to my cat story (go figure, lol.) Anyways, a couple of things to know going into this chapter: 1. The customer name 'Badeaux' actually translates to the Occitan meaning of 'stupid' and 'gullible'. This was on purpose, lol. 2. I head canon Rakuyo to have heavy Arabic/Egyptian and German influence, and Juzo to have more Hispanic/ Mexican influence. (Rakuyo's uses a flail. They were used frequently in Germany and Egypt, and his attire for some reason reminds me of a lot of the colors used during Egypt. Not to mention some of their clothes were more loose fitting/flowy. In Juzo's canon information (or the wiki on him), it's actually mentioned that his armor is inspired by Aztec warriors or at least closely resembles them, hence the Hispanic head canon.) 3. In One Piece, Buccaneers have been confirmed as a race.(at least from what I've found, This might change with more of the research I do into this project, lol.) HOWEVER, while they have been confirmed, I do believe that there are/ were two people confirmed to be buccaneers, and Whitebeard had been one of them. Ok, I think that about covers it for the head canons/ information I did research on for this chapter. I think all of the gemstone information is also correct. (If it's not and you're a huge nerd that's a lot more savvy in this than I am, please tell me so I can correct it-)
For Chapter 0: please go here! ____________ Word Count: 3575 ____________ ‘Snap. Snap. Snap.’ The crude hand that had waved in front of your vacant gaze had been going for a while now. It was only when the snapping started that your mind had even returned to reality in the first place. A little disappointed that you were ripped from the wandering adventure your thoughts were leading you on to get away from the suffocating gloominess within the shop, your gaze finally focused on the person in front of you. Well, you tried to, anyway. Still trying to tie your imagination back to where you were anchored in the world, you remained silently transfixed on the man before you. He was alone, that much was for sure, yet the shop wasn’t occupied by just him. Just outside your field of vision, there were three others there. By their stature, you figure the three were also me. Odd, given that this ‘was’ a jewelry place. More men had seemed to come through on days in comparison to women.
Ah, but you couldn’t afford the luxury to note all of your customers at the moment, for the man standing at the counter seemed to grow more and more restless.
“Hellloooo? Anyone home?” His words came out as sharp, though they were hollow. Most of the customer’s anger usually was. Staring blankly at the man for a moment longer only seemed to irritate him much further than he already had been.
“Are you going to help me, or do I need to report this to your boss?” The idea of the man waiting outside of the boss’s door for days had seemed amusing, and you were almost tempted to test that. But alas, that wasn’t going to do your own bills any favors.
“Apologies, sir.” You started in. “I was just distracted.” Despite the upfront bitterness the man had shown you, your tone remained friendly and inviting. Even if you felt like snapping back at the man, you always reminded yourself of the ‘one’ helpful piece of advice that your boss had told you: you catch more flies with honey than you do vinegar. Even with the kindness you displayed, the guy had only crossed his arms, his scowl deepening.
“Mhmm, I’m sure.” Sarcasm was what he had retorted with. Greeaatttt, he seemed like he was going to make this a pleasant transaction. You took the moment to look the man over. He did seem like trouble. Well, he certainly dressed like it. A lilac colored dress shirt tucked neatly into a pair of white slacks was held together by a gaudy black belt. The golden buckle itself seemed bigger than anything he could offer, but there again most men that waltzed in dressed to the nines never could offer much fulfillment outside of being a sugar daddy for most women. You couldn’t see exactly what kind of shoes he wore from behind the counter, but did it really matter? The rest of the outfit was enough to tell you he came from the ritzy part of town. Unfortunately for you, that also meant that he was going to be a difficult customer. Usually people from the nicer end of town always came in trying to swindle the shop- as if they needed more money than they already had.
Truth be known, if it weren’t for the other people in the shop, you’d have turned the man away right then and there, all it would’ve taken was a simple excuse of ‘we’re closing for break’ or ‘come back later, I have a meeting with the boss to attend to’. But no. The shop just HAD to be busy at that very moment. Taking what little energy you had mentally stored away for tougher customers, you finally decided to move the transaction along.
“How may I be of assistance today?” Your tone remained chipper, a smile starting to form. It didn’t seem to be enough to waver the man’s bitterness, for he simply scoffed. Reaching into the pocket of his pants, the man was quick to slam the item down on the counter. You had internally winced at the noise, praying he hadn’t cracked the glass counter since it’d most likely come out of your check- especially since the boss was famous for that trick, taking from your supposed ‘pay balance’ when ‘things happened on your shift’. Thankfully when he drew his hand back, the counter had been saved. Atop it sat a ring. A gorgeous one at that.
“This.” His tone was blunt, the sharp edge still prominent in his voice.
“Ok…” You started yet again, your smile still remaining as you carefully moved your hand to gently pick up the ring.
“What is it you’re looking to do with this today?” Briefly looking up to him, you focused back on the piece of jewelry itself.
“I want you to take it back and give me a refund.” He snapped, his arms crossing. His patience had begun to run thin. As it had been said before, the ring was gorgeous. And as much as you’d have loved to give the man money back on the ring…you couldn’t. Unlike the rest of the jewelry in the shop, this ring was unique. The ring itself had a slimmer bezel. It wasn’t anything fancy. But with the color of gold the bezel was, you were certain that it was top of the line. Yet, what was the most breathtaking part was the stone that was in the center of it all. An apatite. Against the teal of the stone, the gold had stood out but not taken the attention from the gem itself. And that was exactly the problem.
“I see…” Your voice seemed uncertain. There was a small voice in the back of your head saying that this was an opportunity to get a piece of jewelry such as this, that buying it and selling it for more could’ve very well have saved the place from going under for another month or so, but the facts stood before you. After gently placing the ring back on the counter, you returned your attention back to the bitter man.
“I’m afraid sir, we can’t accept this back as is. Unless we have a record of your receipt on file, we can’t take this back.” The man had seemed as if you were threatening to take his first born.
“And why, pray tell, is that?” His snippy tone seemed to only reflect the anger he was trying to keep under wraps.
“Well, for starters, we don’t sell jewelry with Apatite.”
“And why the hell not?! It’s a ring, is it not?” Snapping at you, all you could do was allow a soft sigh to escape you. Oh, how you wished you could’ve chewed this man up and spit him back out, but keeping your cool, you only carried on.
“I understand your frustration, sir. But we cannot accept jewelry back that we did not sell. This bezel is clearly made up of a higher gold concentration than we offer here, as well as the gem itself. Due to how fragile Apatite is, and due to how costly it can get trying to remake certain pieces that shatter and crack during the sculpting process, we do not sell nor buy jewelry including it.”
“That isn’t fair! I bought this ring from you people fair and square!” The man’s persistence might've been admirable, even for a scam, but even so, the only thing it was doing was grating your last nerve.
“If you insist you have, I can at least check our receipt logs…What’s the last name?” Briefly turning your back to the counter, you moved to dive beneath the counters for the crates of alphabetized files.
“It’s Badeaux.” As sharp as ever, he kept glowering at your actions while his own patience began to run thinner than before. After a moment of looking through the B fields, you had resurfaced once more.
“I’m sorry, sir. But we don’t have a file for you on hand. If you’d like, I do have some of the local island’s jewelers on file, so I can ring some of-”
“This is utter bullshit!” He spat at you, slamming his fist down on the counter.
“I understand your frustrations sir, but please-”
“Screw this, it ain’t even worth the money anymore. Just take it and choke on it for all I care!” The loud ‘clank’ that broke the ‘mostly’ serene silence of the shop had been from the ring making contact with the safety glasses you wore. As tacky and bulky as they were, you were grateful for them just then. The man had turned on his heel, letting the door slam on his way out. Once more, you couldn’t help the sigh that had escaped you.
“I swear, this job isn’t worth what I get paid on days.” The thought had escaped you with no filter, though did it really matter? No one else was around.
“Oh, I bet.” The voice of reason mused back. Allowing the comfortable smile to return, you simply decided to take a moment from-
Wait a minute…you didn’t have a voice of reason. Well, you did, just not one that talked back so…well…vividly. Just as the smile dropped, your gaze casually turned to the side. Upon first glance, you found yourself staring back at a pair of partially lidded eyes. It was only then that you realized.
“Ah, sorry sir! How, uhm, may I help you?” After quickly standing up straight and feeling a bit embarrassed over the remark shared aloud, it was only then you had remembered the other three men that had been perusing the different counters in the shop. In response, the man let out a light hearted chuckle. He held his hands up in a mock defense, the gesture seeming to do wonders to pacify the sudden embarrassment and anxious atmosphere.
“Whoa, whoa, cool it, Sparky. We’re not here to cause any problems.” His voice was gentle, soothing almost. The way he spoke seemed to hide no ulterior motive. That was good at least. To be quite frank, it was hard to believe that the group was there for anything other than genuine interest in the shop. Perhaps they were adventurers?
“We just had some questions, that’s all.” As the man spoke, you took note of his attire. Much like the last man, this one also had a purple shirt. Though unlike the first, he had been worn in a more casual manner. The way he kept it unbuttoned exposed the tattoo that embellished his chest and the muscles he had. Around his waist was a blue sash, along with a decorative belt that- somehow- topped the last man’s. From what you could tell, it seemed like he was wearing blue jeans of some kind, though again, from where you stood, you couldn’t quite tell if that was the case or not. Atop his head was a tuft of messy blond hair. To you, it did look a bit comical since no one really had come through with such a hairstyle before, but you must’ve figured the poor guy probably got enough trash talk for it. All in all, he had a much more laid back nature about him, something you couldn’t quite place, but something that seemed to be trustworthy for the time being.
Taking a moment to glance at the other two over his shoulder, You made note of the other two. One was a far burlier looking man, his frame towered the other two easily. A much more tan complexion had adorned him, the shade of red that the armor plates he wore seemed to pop more against him. From where he was, his back had been to you, so very little was able to be made out on his face. However, you could tell from just his stature alone that he was definitely not someone to be messed with. The other seemed a lot more enthused about the different pieces of jewelry within the cases. His back had also been to you, but what little you could make out from him was the messy blond locks he wore in dreads, as well as the cream colored jacket. Though, it did look more yellow than white.
In a way, you felt a little bad for the more excited man out of the two. All there were beneath the glass casings were boxes of different rings bunched together. Maybe before they left, you could at least pull them out of the casing and let him rummage through them? It wasn’t like your boss would care so long as none of them had gone missing. For now, though, they were here for genuine business, so suggesting the idea was off the table for now. Returning your attention to the first shaggier man of the trio, you recomposed yourself from the startle he gave you.
“Very well. What is it you’re looking for help with today?” Asking the question, the man had seemed a little stumped. ‘Please don’t be trying to rob the place…please don’t be trying to rob the place.’ The thought crossed your mind as the man stalled in giving his response.
“Well, it’s a bit…complicated.” He started in. He took note of the way you watched him before taking a step back.
“My bad, didn’t mean to make you feel uncomfortable.” He reassured, his tone remaining insouciant. Oddly enough, you couldn’t help but take his word. Clearing his throat, he briefly turned to look over his shoulder at the other two.
“I myself am not very savvy with these kinds of things. But Rakuyo over there…” Speaking the last of his words loud enough for the other two to hear, the more eccentric man had quickly turned his head towards the two of you. Motioning the other over, the blond allowed a casual smile to form.
“I’ll let you talk to him, you’ll get a lot further since he’s more adverse in what we’re looking for.” With the blond taking a step back, the man- who you presumed was Rakuyo- stepped forward in his place. A bright smile adorned his features. Despite his energy, the laid back atmosphere of the interaction had remained.
“Hey, Shug.” The man replied. Though the nickname had already had you turning your nose up, something told you that was just something he called most women. At least it didn’t seem like he was trying to hit on you. With a simple ‘hello’ in return, you refocused your attention back to the conversation at hand.
“So, your friend here tells me that you’re more equipped with what it is you three are in for today?” You started in, your tone remaining as friendly as before. Earning a chuckle in response, the man nodded.
“I suppose that’s true to an extent.” Remaining light-hearted in the exchanged banter, the man continued.
“We were actually in to see if there would be any way you could resize or replicate a ring to request.” He started in. It took a moment for you to actually regroup yourself. It was a bit shocking, actually. For the first time in months, someone was GENUINELY INTERESTED in requesting service. Quickly gathering your wits, you had finally nodded.
“O-of course we do! Though we cannot offer a free resizing service with rings not sold here, we still can, depending on the condition of the ring itself. Pricing would mostly rely on the gemstones preferred for the ring.” The man had listened to your explanation, his features seeming to light up.
“Really? Well then, that answered quite a bit.” He mused, his words sounding as though they were mostly directed towards himself. When he refocused on you once more, his smile seemed to grow.
“I suppose that leaves us with a couple other questions, Hun.” For once, you could feel the corner of your lips tug upwards in a more genuine smile the more the conversation progressed. The three men had, for once, not been thugs- which was surprising given the same symbol they all adorned on different parts of themselves. You could’ve sworn you had seen it somewhere before, but remembering where had eluded you. The conversation had gone from asking about the gemstones local to the island to the rarity and cost of others that were hard to get. At the end of the day, their request hadn’t seemed that complex. It was nothing more than a simple thicker bezel for a man with a single holder for garnet embedded into the ring itself. At the end of the day, it wasn’t something that would cost any of the three of them a fortune, outside of the third man who had remained in the back, neither of the two you spoke to seemed like they would’ve had a larger ring size. If you dared say, you didn’t think making it would’ve broken the bank for the third man either.
“Right then, I’ll be sure to put the order down and get the supplies ordered for you then.” You chimed. Rummaging through the boxes behind the counter, you pulled out a small notepad. On each page seemed to be an order ticket of sorts. As you began to work away at writing down all of the order information, you carried on with the conversation.
“I think I have just about everything here I need. I’m only missing the ring size.” The question had only earned an awkward silence from the three. Rakuyo was the first to pipe up after being unable to take the silence.
“Well, if you don’t mind me asking. What…sizes do you go up to?” Briefly stopping your scribbling, your gaze had turned up to look at him. When he had seemed a bit nervous in the manner, you turned to the other two. The first had seemed just as nervous, even the bigger gut out of the three seemed to have some pause in his stoic demeanor. Oh, they were serious. Standing up right once more, you started with another explanation.
“Well, at the moment we can only make up to a size 15. However, we can make additional sizes to accommodate different groups, such as giants and other larger groups. Most requests like this are done upon request, but the problem with them is that they may take a bit more time outside of the usual week. Would you happen to know the ring size off the top of your head?” Looking between the three men, each of them had seemed baffled for an answer. Taking that as a ‘no’, you ducked back under the desk to rummage around for a simple stack of papers.
“That’s alright if you’re unsure. We do have different sizing for each kind of person.” You started in. Pointing to the first set of sizes, you kept your focus on the page.
“These ones are mostly for humans. Don’t mind any of these numbers, it’s just for us back here to know what the bezel width would be. Over in this column,” Your finger circles the furthest set of numbers to the right, “is what you’d need to know. Down here are for Fishmen. Again, You don’t have to worry about any of these, this just tells us where we’d need to cut the bezel in order to assure it causes its owner any discomfort against the webbing in their hands./ Most mermaids and mermen do fall within human measurements, but there are a few that do have occasional sizing outs-”
“I don’t mean to be rude and cut you short, but why do the numbers have such a significant jump between these two groups?” The first man had piped up, pointing to a spot in which the whole section had been scribbled out.
“Ah, that.” You simply stated.
“Well, that was the sizing for buccaneers, but unfortunately, they haven’t been around in years. Most of the tools that we have for them aren’t kept on location. We still have them, of course, for the few odd folk that do have sizes that fall in that range, but that…would…” When your gaze had turned to look up at the three, each of them had seemed as though they had just witnessed a miracle. Raising a brow a bit, you kept your gaze flickering between the three of them.
“Is something the matter?” After you spoke, the peppier man had placed his hands on the counter, leaning over a bit.
“Do you realize what you’ve just done?!” He spoke. Taking a few steps back, you watched the man’s shock quickly contort into a wide grin.
“M…my job?” You spoke, uncertainty prominent in your tone.
“Well, yes, but no.” He finished, allowing him to place his feet back on the ground.
“Ma’am, you don’t realize just how long we’ve been looking for someone that has the equipment to make a ring for a buccaneer.” For the first time, the third man finally spoke. Your mouth had opened to speak, but you found the words stalling in your throat.
“...I beg your pardon?” The words had left unfiltered. Baffled by their wording, you figured that maybe they were simply just stating that whoever the ring was for was just unlucky enough to have sizing that fell within the buccaneer range. Yet, something told you that wasn’t the case.
Surely, it was just a misfortune, right? I mean…buccaneers had been extinct at this point…hadn’t they?

Whitebeard Commanders Rizz Check
Jozu shoots his shot by teasing you and gifting you with little trinkets he made, but he doesn't actually like to talk much, so all his flirting is just *stares at you adoringly* *gets caught* *smiles, waves, and walks away.* Doesn't hide that he's into you but also doesn't push for anything more, he'd let you come to him if you're interested.
Thatch is absolutely a flirt but he's also very approachable about it. He'll offers to buy you chicken wings instead of a drink at the bar, and conversation with him feels effortless. Farmer's Market Hot/Boy Next Door kinda rizz, but with that bad boy spice when you find out he's a pirate. Also a man who can cook automatically gets a +16 hotness boost.
Vista's Casanova ass are you kidding me? This man needs to stop rizzing people up, it's becoming an actual problem. Vista enters conversations tits-first, kisses the back of your hand, calls you Spanish pet names and offers to teach you how to tango right then and there. His cologne smells amazing and his hair is like silk. Somebody nerf this bastard.
Blamenco is too shy and nervous to ever attempt to rizz anybody up, but if he did he'd absolutely flirt like a butch lesbian. Hey darlin', want to sip this iced tea he made you while he does skillful handyman repairs around your house, listens to you talk, and validates all your emotions and experiences? Actually tbh he would do that even if he wasn't trying to rizz you up. This man is Overwhelmingly husband material.
Rakuyo shoots his shot by chattering about the history of shipbuilding with exact dates and locations while scrawling incredibly detailed diagrams all over the napkins, getting too excited and knocking a drink all over himself, and then being genuinely startled and impressed when you show him a trick for getting wine stains out of fabric. He loves when somebody can teach him something. Maybe you could give him some more advanced lessons? He's a very attentive student, *wink wink*
Namur has that nerdy shyboy rizz. Nervously approaches you in a game shop to compliment all you nerd merch and then when you compliment him back he'll turn purple and start stuttering. Talks with you about favorite Pokemon gens and which anime openings get stuck in your head, shows you the elaborate DM screen he designed and made himself. You think probably he just wants to be friends but then he sees someone being an asshole and steps up to do something about it and you're reminded Oh Shit Actually This Guy Is A Shark. Not A Cinnamon Roll, A Big Fucking Shark, A Shark--!
Blenheim doesn't even really need to work for it honestly he's a hot older man with those vibes where you know he knows how to fuck and he has the most interesting stories to tell with that smooth, confident way he speaks, his salt-and-pepper beard, his big, strong hands. It's not rizz it's genuine understated charisma and we're all lucky he hasn't ever been as girl-crazy as Vista because frankly two of them on one ship would be too damn much.
Curiel doesn't know how to flirt and at this point he refuses to learn but he does have that energy of a man who's very big and very strong and very gentle, and he'd speak to you warmly and call you little one and make hilariously terrible dad jokes and we all know that would be more than enough for some people.
Kingdew has no rizz just huge muscles an extremely deep voice and many unsettling things to say.
Haruta is obnoxious and rizzless. Point this out to them and they will throw a tantrum about it, which will both be entertaining and serve to prove your point.
Atmos used to have a ton of rizz back in the day. He had that "I'm a bad motherfucker, but I like poetry too" kind of thing going on. Friendly, easy to get along with, intelligent without being pretentious, playful without being abrasive, capable of carrying a conversation. Atmos could get it. Not so much since the brain damage though. No, not anymore.
Jiru's quick silver tongue and big doe eyes and dimples aren't quite as dangerous as Vista's tits but that's mostly because Jiru doesn't weaponize them as often as Vista does. For all his friendliness and skill with managing social situations, Jiru doesn't actually like people very much. That said, he's absolutely not above flirting his way out of a problem he can't run through with his lance.
Fossa does not have rizz he has paranoid delusions and a chain-smoking habit. Leave him alone. Go away.

Whitebeard Commanders Headcanons: Diamond Jozu
Jozu doesn't talk much, but is extremely expressive. He has that thing where his neutral expression makes him look like he's plotting murder, but he doesn't actually wear a neutral expression very often -- he's very free with showing his emotions on his face, so he's usually grinning or scowling or rolling his eyes at someone. If he's talking out loud it's usually short, one-or-two sentence statements, otherwise he prefers to communicate non-verbally. A thumbs up, a shrug, even some sign language. This can cause Jozu to come across as dismissive, cold, or stoic, but in reality he gets flustered easily, and his response to that is to try and shut down, so the more he's feeling the less it shows on his face. If you ever see Jozu holding completely still and staring into the distance with a furious expression on his face, you know he's screaming internally about something silly.
(If you ever see Jozu holding mostly still with a grumpy expression on his face, he's just chilling.)
Do not play Poker with him until you figure out how to read him. Then feel free to clean him out, because his poker face won't fool anyone who knows his tells. The only time he's good at actually controlling his expression is when he's keeping a straight face through a joke. This man will not crack. Jozu never starts the silliness, but he will happily let himself get swept up in it, and his quiet, gruff demeanor hides an immediate willingness to fully commit himself to any and all bits. The master of less-is-more style comedy, some of his best jokes involve the rest of the Whitebeards getting up to mischief while Jozu just Stands There. Thatch and Haruta are always putting silly hats on him and he just lets them. His division turned him into a Christmas tree one year while he ignored them/pretended not to notice and then he did not move or make a single noise for almost three hours, because he was Being A Tree.
Shockingly light-footed for a man his size, he is always accidentally startling people by coming around corners or through doorways silently. Even Observation Haki doesn't always help, Jozu has such a quiet, calm presence that he could stand right next to someone and go unnoticed if he wanted to. Everyone is always complaining that they're going to put a bell on him, and honestly, if someone did ambush him with a silly cat-bell choker Jozu would let them put it on him and then pretend he hadn't noticed it was there until someone directly calls him out on it, because that would be wildly hilarious to him personally. Very superstitious. A little embarrassed by that fact. Jozu is very spooked by the supernatural as a concept and, if asked, will explain that it's not like he could punch a ghost if one of them popped up. He's big on handing out good luck charms and protection amulets to his crew mates, and he's always throwing purifying salt around. He has a somewhat masochistic love of learning the superstitions and folk beliefs of whatever new islands they dock at. On the one hand, he usually learns about a few new types of ghoulies to have nightmares about. On the other hand, he also learns about new ways to deal with those ghoulies. Pros and Cons.
Jozu deeply values fragile, delicate things, and his favorite hobies include glass art, eggshell carving, and the like. Due to growing up alone and in poverty Jozu was forced to be tough, hardy, and self-sufficient basically as soon as he could crawl, and as a result he's fascinated by the idea of things that are easy to break or that require a lot of attentive care, since he himself has never been treated that way, and honestly kind of struggles to treat other people that way.
As someone who values action, effort, hard work, and consistency, Jozu isn't always great at understanding why people might fall short of expectations, or be unable to complete certain tasks. He's so rooted in the physical world -- and in his own values of discipline and self-control -- that his interpersonal skills can often fall short, and he's not always as sympathetic to or patient with other peoples' struggles as he should be. Jozu is very good at cutting down to the heart of something and finding a simple, straightforward path through a seemingly complex and difficult problem, but this means he can overlook nuance or disregard important details as being superfluous. He can be dismissive or cutting when confronted with peoples mental or emotional struggles.
Jozu knows this about himself, and tries to treat people more gently and with more acceptance of their shortcomings, but he tends to come up short himself. Often it's not until hours or days after someone has tried to open up to him and he's shut them down that Jozu will look back and realize he'd been careless with someone's feelings again, and likely hurt them in the process -- and then he struggles to apologize, not because he doesn't mean it or doesn't want to, but because he doesn't know how to express how sorry he is. Part of his enjoyment of creating and caring for delicate things comes from the fact that he has so much difficulty treating his family with that same care. He wishes he could give his family the gentle touch he shows his glass sculptures, and hates that it's so hard for him to do so.

Imagine being ASL Childhood friend and Falling in love with Ace
Tsuki's note: This is a Ace x reader thing. Also leaning on the angst side. Bear with me here. Reader is a shirwright but is especialized in ship treatment ( Kinda like Rayleigh).
Tsuki's note 2: I used a popular phrase from Brazil translated to english -"Uma vez no inferno, abraça o capeta" - "Once in hell, must as well hug the devil"
Tsuki's note 3: In case you are reading this like a female reader, please consider you would be wearing a tanktop or something. If you are reader as male or GN reader, just keep going as you see.
Tsuki's note 4: I can write more about this if anyone gets interested. But this piece is just a summary.
Not Proff read. This too long to proof read sorry! Also my eye sight is still blurry, so bear with me here.
PART 2 Can be found here. Its more about the childhood itself. No ships, just kids. + Uta.
TW: mentions of blood, injury and death.
Imagine you were friends with the ASL trio since kids.
You were the same age as Ace and Sabo, but you befriended Luffy first at the Windmill village.
The last time you saw Ace and Luffy was when you and Ace were 13. It was a rough time especially for you and Luffy, since he was very much attached to you. After that you only exchanged letters. In of them you wrote the following line:
"I will collect all of your wanted posters. I would like to have a big collection, so please, stay alive ok? I am looking forward how big you guys make!"
Reading this tiny phrase made Ace and Luffy very happy! You didn't exaclty love pirates ( despite liking Shanks quite a bit), but you did support those two. At first it was to antagonize Garp, but later on, you just wanted them to be happy and do whatever the wanted.
They knew you loved building things and were pretty good at drawings. So they were cheering you on as well, to persue your skills.
You met Ace again, a littlr bit after he joined the whitebeard crew. You happened to be working on a project for the governament, when... well, you noticed it wasn't just a simple project, a simple bridge and ship. It was meant to carry slaves.
So you decided to slowly dismantle the thing, removing some small parts to make the whole construction crumble " on this own". No one noticed what you were doing. You planned to leave this island when a supply ship would dock. You could just write a letter and sneak leave.
You came across some people stranded on the island, they were badly hurt with a broken boat. You decided to help them, bringing them food, water and trying to fix the small boat.
Those group of men were very fidgety for a while. You never asked anything about them. Eventually they blurted out they were pirates. Oh great. you thought to yourself.
They were expecting you to just drop everything, but you didn't. Once in hell must as well hug the devil, right? They were super grateful to you. Alas they never told you which pirate group they were from.
They just said they were pirates running away from the marines and that the Marines had stolen their treasure. You just nodded along.
The managed to leave, the boat was safe for a short travel - you warned them about it.
The day that you were planning to leave was close by. But before you could, a Marine ship docked. Weird, could they be the ones those pirates talked about? You were very wary about this ship. Something wasn't right.
The managers from plants called of you who were working on this project and there were the Marines. Guns in hands. A wicked grin in the captain's face appeared. Oh not good. You immediately looked for escape routes.
A colleague was oddly nervous. Another one was grinning too. You soon came to find out that the Marines were there because you all knew too much. Appearently your nervous colleague questioned the management and now you were all doomed.
You managed to escape - badly hurt, but you did it! You were barely conscious when a man talked to you:
??: Hey, are you Y/N? Hey!
When you opened your eyes all you could see was a wooden celling. You felt your body gently swaying - you were in a ship. Looking to your side you saw no one, just a few empty beds.
You carefuly sat up feeling pain everywhere. You noticed your foot was wrapped in bandages. Did you break it?
You sighed. There was no windows on this room. But you noticed it seemed like an infirmary. Your head was spinning, where were you? Could you or better, should you get up and walk around?
While you debated if you should walk or not, the door opened. You jumped a bit, heart beating fast.
You saw a blond man enter and stare at you before smiling:
??: Look who is awake, Yoi!
You hesitated a bit. You recognized that guy. you saw his posters a dozen of times.
??: I am Marco. And you are Y/N, right?
You blinked.
Y/N: Yes... how do you know my name?
Marco smiled.
Marco: You are popular here, Yoi.
He then proceeded to explain what happened. You helped some new members of the Whitebeard pirates. They came back to the main fleet and told everyone what happened.
Upon hearing your name and description, Ace became anxious. It was too much of a coincidence. He decided he would go to island to check it out and well, others tagged along - After all the Marines picked a fight with them too.
So two birds with one stone. Check on you and the treasure. When they arrived there, they saw the Marine ship and could hear the chaos happening.
Ace went looking for you on his own, while Marco and others went to find the Marines. Turns out, Marco and pirates you helped found you first. bleeding from the head and a nasty injuried foot.
Upon hearing the whole story, you had one question and one comment:
Y/N: I am glad the guys are ok! But... By Ace, you mean Portgas D Ace?
Marco nodded.
Marco: He said he knew you from a long time ago.
You confirm it. You just couldn't believe what just happened. You helped some random people that were pirates. Whitebeard pirates. And for some reason Ace is now on the Whitebeard crew?
After checking on your wounds Marco left to tell Whitebeard and Ace you were awake. You felt your blood go cold. Why tell the captain? i mean, this was HIS ship, but... oh boy.
Soon you heard a knock on a door. At the same time you answered, it bursted open. This time you saw a very familiar freckled face.
Ace: Y/N! Are you ok?
You couldn't help but smile:
Y/N: I have seen better days! - You laughed.
Ace sat down next to you. He was smiling:
Ace: Can't believe It's actually you!
Y/N: Yeah, i can't believe none of this either...
You told him everything that has happened until Marco found you. Ace listened to you in silence.
Ace: So, they found out you were breaking that thing?
Y/N: Of course not. It should collapse soon. But they aren't smart enough for that.
He laughed.
Ace: How long has it been, huh? You didn't change a bit!
Y/N: Neither have you!
You wished to talk more with Ace, but you came to know it was nightime and quite late, when Marco shooed Ace out of the room so you could rest more.
In the next few days, you have talked to Whitebeard with Marco, Ace and those pirates together. He allowed you to stay around until your leg recovered - as a token of appreciation for your help and your boldness.
Whenever you needed to go around, Ace volunteered to carry you on his back - you tried to walk on your own with a crutch, but escaping Ace was hard sometimes. Why? You realized he grew taller than you. He was always stronger than you, but now he could easily swipe you off of your feet.
You guys caught up with life. How he ended up in the Whitebeard Pirates and all the places he had been before. And you told him about your studies and projects.
Marco has told you your leg would take weeks to heal, so you couldn't make much effort. Alas, it was pretty boring to just sit around. So whenever you could, you would pester the shipwright for some activities.
You did little things here and there and he actually loved your help. When Marco found out he scolded you, but! you claimed to be resting - you were seated, leg elevated, all good right?
Well, no. The man sighed and scolded you some more. You pouted. Ace laughed.
After two weeks, the newspaper was delivered. On the cover page there was the attack of the Whitebeard's pirate on an island... wait. That was an awfully familiar place.
As you read that article you became nervous, catching Ace's attention. He rested his head on top of yours to read the article:
Ace: Isn't this what you were working on?
Y/N: Yeah....
Ace laughed.
Ace: You were right! It did fall apart.
Y/N: But.. you guys took the blame.
You were feeling very guilty. It wasn't fair. You wanted to apologize to Whitebeard, but you heard his booming laughter from behind you.
Whitebeard: Pipsqueak, do you think this is a big deal?
You shifted a bit, head low and ready to apologize.
Whitebeard: For you, it may be. But for me? This is nothing.
Right. It made sense. The man was one of the biggest pirates ever. Ace laughed at the captain's statement. You felt your face heat up, you were both embarassed and happy. He was taking the blame on your stead.
As more time passed by the Shipwright gave you more activities, of course, things that wouldn't set make you get scolded by Marco. Your leg was almost fully healed. Some crew members were very upset about letting you go - you were handy, lovely person. It was absolutely funny to see you and Ace bickering.
One example, of said bickering, was when you were adding layers to protect the wood on the railing. It was a hot day, sun very strong on your head for a while. Marco wasn't around to nag you, so you helped a lot this day.
Alas, because of the heat, you were shirtless. You didn't mind at all, everyone was doing their stuff. So were you. But when Ace saw you he marched towards you, saying you should wear something.
You frowned.
Y/N: Ace, it's hot today.
Ace: Yeah, you are going to et sunburn.
Y/N: No, i won't. I take care of my skin ok?
Ace: Sure, but you aren't healed yet.
Y/N: I am fine!
Ace: There are bunch of people you don't know here.
Y/N: Aren't they your family?
Ace: Y-yes, but you should something.
You dropped the brushed.
Y/N: Says the guy half naked.
Ace flinched.
Ace: This is different.
Y/N: Oh really?
Ace: I Am made of fire. And this is my home.
Y/N: You are ridiculous.
Ace: Y/N!
Y/N: You know what? If you find a shirt, i will wear it.
Ace: You better!
Ace stormed off and you rolled your eyes. Neither of you noticed the crew members grinning and laughing.
Ace came back with one his shirts and tossed it on you.
Ace: Here.
Y/N: !! Is ... is this yours?
Ace: You told me to find some. I did.
Y/N: Oh... so you do own clothes.
Ace ruffled your hair, you laughed. His cheeks were red on frustration making his freckles more apparent. You did put on his shirt and rolled up the sleeves.
Y/N: There. Happy now?
Ace: Very much, yes. But what are you doing?
Y/N: Your shirt is too big, Sleeves get in the way.
Ace lowered his hat. His face was burning. No scratch that. His back was burning. This kind of interaction was a gem to see. The oh so fearsome Firefist Ace, being shy around a civilian like you.
Another task that was given to you was to fix Ace's boat. He manage to burn part of it. Here were you using a special treatment resistant to fire. Hopefully he wouldn't burn and fall into the water.
This time Marco was around to make sure you were in the shadow and not overworking yourself.
Y/N: Ace, you can test it out. Be careful to not to fall ok?
You glanced around to see if there was anyone who could swim.
Ace: Really? Can we test it?
Y/N: Sure.
Suddenly, Ace was in front of you. You blinked and before you could ask, he had throw on you on his shoulder.
Y/N: W-what are you doing?
Ace: Testing!
Y/N: with me??
Ace: Yeah, C'mon Y/n!
You looked up to see Marco grinning. You raised your arms towards him in hopes he would help you. He should right? He always nags you about over working.
Marco walked towards you two. You sighed in relief, but he did not reach for you. He took the tool you were still holding out of your hand:
Marco: Be careful! Y/N is not fully healed!
Ace looked back and smiled and Marco. Off you went on a test drive of that boat.
Ace was really good at piloting that thing, but you were scared. He went way too fast and the space was too small for two people. You were furious.
Ace: Y/N, If you keep hugging me like that you will make it difficult to turn!
Y/N: Y-you do know this is cramped right?
Ace just laughed.
Slowly but surely you ended falling for Ace. And Ace for you. Before you two knew it, you were already a thing. Not a secret to anyone in the crew.
Whitebeard ended up allowing you to stay, because you were very handy, but also you felt like family already. His son's partner, was his kid too. Alas, He did made an agreement with Marco, Ace and you, that if worse comes to worse, you were forced to be there. You didn't like this idea, but you did get where he was coming from.
Ace wasn't particularly found of it either, but he figured it was the safest route for you. Marco supported this full on.
Almost two years went by, when you got the newspaper. Scanning through the articles you reached the Pirate's bounty. There you found a lovely face you could never forget:
Y/N: Ace! Look!
Ace got his arms around you, head on top of yours.
Y/N: It's Luffy!
Ace snatched the poster out of your hand for a moment. He laughed and so did you.
Ace: Haha! He did it! Look at our little brother!
Y/N: Yup! He did it!
It was then you noticed something. "our little brother" You questioned Ace about it. He grinned at you, face burning red:
Ace: Well, yeah! If he is my little brother, we are a thing and he loves you, that makes him your brother too, right?
Your face burned. You did love Luffy like a brother. But you never called each other as such. You smiled. Yeah, it made perfect sense.
Ace went on to tell the others about Luffy. His cute little brother. It was very adorable how proud he was of Luffy, of course you were too. And now you had a new poster to your collection!
Soon after this, Thatch was murdered. You and Whitebeard insisted that Ace should let it go. Something about blackbeard wasn't right.
He didn't listen. No matter how much you pleaded and argue, his mind was set on going. And off he went. You sighed in frustration.
When Ace met Luffy at Alabasta, it was a very sweet encounter. They talked things out a bit. Ace told Luffy he met you. He actually told his brother everything - very shyly, but he did.
Luffy was beyond happy. You were alive and ok. And you were with Ace too! That means you were safe and his two favorite people were together, whatever this means! Great!
Ace was beyond happy to see Luffy reactions. Alas, their encounter didn't last long. But before Ace left Alabasta, he found a gift for you. A beautiful bracelet.
A few days went by and you crossed paths with Ace, very briefly. You just so happened to stop at the same island to gather food. As soon as he saw you, he ran up to you, hugging you so very tightly.
You couldn't help but giggle. You loved when he did that. It felt so warm! Ace told you about meeting Luffy in Alabasta. You were very happy to hear about his crew, his adventure and everything.
You tried to persuate Ace to give up on going after blackbeard. He refused once more. But before he left, he gave you the bracelet:
Ace: Listen, Y/N. I have to do this, ok? I promise when i get back we can have a huge a party!
He smiled.
Y/N: No, you don't! Your captain said so! Ace, something if off -.
Ace: Here, I got this for you. Take it as a... promise!
You took the bracelet. It was very beautiful.
Y/N: Promise of what?
Ace: That i Love you!
He grinned. Your face burned. You could see fire on his back. A clear sign he was beyond embarassed.
Before you could say anything else, he kissed you and left. Your heart began to sink. A dreadful feeling took over your heart. You screamed, hoping he could hear you:
Y/N: You are an idiot! You better find me a ring after this!
Ace's back had more fire now. Yeah, he heard you.
Ace: You got it! - screamed back at you.
Guess you were engaged now? You sighed. Still worried about him.
A few weeks passes by when you heard the news: Fire fist Ace, was caught. Your heart ached so badly. Whitebeard was furious. The crew was in disbelief.
You begged Whitebeard to allow you to help. He deny it. You couldn't fight. He couldn't put you in danger. You offered to help as you could - perhaps enhance the ships?
This suggestion got the gears in his head running. You could help like that, yes. After shooting you down many times, he finally caved in. You and Rayleigh worked on the ships to make them more resistent and to make be able to stay underwater.
You didn't had much time. You did your best, as you were in a hurry your hands had deep cuts. You didn't stop until all the preparations were done.
Marco patched up your hand before they left. He told you the plan was to leave you in Saboady, where you would be safe. You pouted. tears falling from your eyes.
Marco: Y/N, it will be ok. Will bring Ace back.
You sniffled.
Y/N: With everyone, right?
He didn't answer you. You knew this was an impossible request. Marco patted your head and left you in the care of Rayleigh and Shakky.
You watched the whole ordeal from a corner of the plaza. Your heart did flips seeing Luffy there with a bunch of people - some you heard of like Crocodile, others, no clue. Like the person with a purple hair.
You were anxious, hands gripping whatever they could find. Shakky called you out, your hands were bleeding again. You felt relieved when you saw Ace and Luffy side by side. Just a little bit more and they both could be home.
It still ached your heart, knowing so many comrades died. Seeing Whitebeard so beaten. But you were happy. Just a little bit more and you hug your idiots.
Then, Ace slipped out of your reach, forever. You cried and soon began scream - You knew Luffy was in danger now. You were begging for something, someone, to help him.
Shakky moved you from the plaza. You didn't want to leave. You knew the image of Ace's body would haunt you, but you needed to see him. Somehow it had to be lie.
Shakky and Rayleigh took you away from the plaza. You were in shambles. Crying and shaking. You could hear the cheers when Whitebeard fell. It was all too painful. Too much.
A day went by, Marco came to fetch you to go to Ace's and Whitebeard's grave. At the same time, Rayleigh was about to leave to meet Luffy.
You begged the old mand to allow to tag along. You had to see Luffy. He must be hurting so bad. You were turned down. The man explained it was best for Luffy for you to stay out of the picture for now.
It took a bit more to convince you go with Marco. But you asked Rayleigh to at least, deliver a letter to Luffy. To which he agreed.
When you arrived at the island, you had no more tears to cry. You were watching it all from a far. It all still seemed like a dream. None of it was real. You could swear your Ace would pop up anytime.
As you were lost on your thoughts, You didn't notice someone approach you.
??: Y/N?
You looked up to see Shanks. He had a sad expression.
Shanks: You grew a lot since i last saw you, huh?
Last time you saw Shanks in Windmill village, he had just lost an arm. Your eyes pooled with tears. The man patted your head, all you could do was cletch to him his cloack.
In a lower voice, almost like a whisper, you thanked him. For the funeral and for not meeting Luffy, just yet. You couldn't see it, but he smiled at you. Patted your head again:
Shanks: Sure.
A simple word that weirdly enough, gave you comfort. It was genuine. He left soon after, his crew mates waving at you.
In the mean time, Luffy opened your letter. He began to cry as he read it, It was simple and very wet, since, well, Rayleigh had to swim.
" Luffy, None of this is your fault. You did all that you could. I am so proud of you! Stay strong ok? When we meet again, tell me about your crew, your ship, your adventures! I will be waiting for you.
Y/N."
Luffy verbally answered to your letter, between sobs. That he would tell you about it all.
Hancock got very curious/ jealous about you. Who the hell is this Y/N? How can they talk to him like that? She marched over to Rayleigh, to demand an answer.
Jimbey sighed.
But Luffy himself answered:
Luffy: Y/N... is my big sibling.

Rocks dies and WB doubles down on protecting and loving their little pebble. Both out of a sense to “provide 2 parents’ worth of love and care” but also because this sweet little thing is all he has left (and WB has an enormous heart)
Absolutely KILLS Dragon decades later when they realize WB taking on 100~ “sons” was his way of trying to fill the loss of his pebble when Croc made a break for it decades ago.
Oh no, my heart ;w;
Is this a scenario where WB then would have done whatever he could to protect his beloved pebble? I suggested in another ask that he and Rocks might have argued about how the child should grow up, with WB being of the opinion that the child should be, above everything else, safe.
So he might take his child to a secret location, a safe place and stay there with it, while they're both reeling from the loss. Of course, Whitebeard is a pirate, a young one at that and he has to get out there again, not only because he feels the pull of the sea, but also because piracy was the only way he could make sure there was money for his home town and for the child.
And of course the child would want to come with him. She doesn't want to be left alone in a strange place, with strange people, without anything to do. She's a child of pirates, she has been trained, she's used to the rough and dangerous life in the New World. But no, Whitebeard is firm, may even start some of his "girls should be home, safe!" (when he should have said "children". When he meant "I don't want to lose you.") which sparks anger in her. And defiance.
Despite her father's stance, she will not stay put. Will try to build a ship, get out, sneak on the Moby when Whitebeard is not paying attention (she gets very good at being quiet, at concealing herself and evading her father's uncanny ability to still spot him.) And I think WB might grow frustrated with the kid at one point. Frustration and fear and abysmal grief a destructive mix that doesn't unload in healthy ways.
He probably eventually has to allow the kid on the ship because he can't go chasing after his child, but stands firm on her not fighting. Again, this nonsense about girls not fighting. She knows its nonsense. There were girls on Rocks' ship. Hell, Rocks was a girl. Sometimes. Maybe she too can be a boy sometimes. If he's a boy then, he can fight! But of course that wouldn't work with Whitebeard. So he'd continue to butt heads with Whitebeard and doing rather reckless things that don't only endanger himself but also the crew. Which probably leads to one huge arguments were lot of things are being thrown around that would just be devastatingly painful for the teen.
As a consequence he sneaks off the ship and disappears before Whitebeard can make the cut, put him on an island and leave him there for good. And no matter how desperately WB looks for him, he just can't find him. Just like that, his precious child has slipped through his fingers, just like Rocks did. ;w;
Depending on what kind of AU this is, Dragon might try to nudge Crocodile towards a reconciliation. Because he can tell that Whitebeard is hurting and while it shouldn't mean anything to him, he is still sympathizing about the loss. Of course, Dragon might be projecting a bit, now that he finds himself facing fatherhood. And most of all, he can tell how Crocodile's anger conceals a deep wound. They really should fix this, before it's too late.
