DP X Marvel #10
It all started because Clockwork got bored. That was the only reasonable explanation Danny could come up with. One minute he was signing ghost realm tax paperwork—yeah, turns out being Ghost King came with bureaucracy—and the next, Clockwork was swirling his little time-staff like a smug ghostly Gandalf and muttering something about “character growth” and “you’ve gone soft, Daniel.” And then bam, vortex of neon green time-energy, and suddenly Danny Fenton—a.k.a. Danny Phantom, Ghost King, Defender of Amity Park, Sloppy Hot Mess™—woke up in Westchester, New York, in a bed that smelled like lavender detergent and severe academic trauma.
Also, there was a kid across the room with laser eyes. Like, literal laser eyes. Danny dodged the optic blast with a yelp, crashed into a dresser, phased through it out of panic, and immediately got tackled by some blue-furred acrobatic Shakespeare enthusiast named Hank McCoy, who tried to sedate him with a tranquilizer gun the size of a trombone.
The chaos didn’t end there.
After an hour-long misunderstanding involving accidental ghost-punching, a kid phasing through a wall and screaming about “this new spirit trying to possess my Xbox,” and someone named Jean calmly levitating him mid-air like he was a naughty kitten, Danny finally got an audience with Charles Xavier. That guy. The bald one. Professor X. Wheelchair. Mind reader. Wears a turtleneck in July.
And of course, as soon as Danny sat down, Professor X pressed two fingers to his temple and Danny felt his entire mental vault of trauma shatter like a haunted snow globe. “Ah,” the Professor said with the polite cadence of someone realizing they’ve just tuned into a true crime documentary instead of the weather channel. “You have a great deal of… unique experiences.”
Danny laughed. Hysterically. “I died at fourteen and now I run a death monarchy in an alternate dimension. Unique is so last week.”
Turns out Clockwork, that glorified antique grandfather clock with too much free time, had decided that Danny needed to “learn to connect with others his age again” and “gain allies outside the Ghost Zone.” So he dropped Danny off at a mutant boarding school like some sort of half-dead foreign exchange student. And Charles Xavier, either because he’s too nice or secretly thrilled to collect weirdos like Pokémon cards, welcomed him with open arms.
Now, Danny wasn’t a mutant. He made that very clear. He was a half-ghost hybrid from an accident involving his parents’ DIY death portal and a broken sense of safety regulations. But that didn’t stop the other students from assuming he was just a weirdo with very specific powers and a questionable haircut. The moment Rogue tried to absorb him and got an accidental flash of the time Pariah Dark tried to possess his left kidney, she screamed, exploded a tree, and refused to make eye contact with him for a week. Logan thought that was hilarious and called him “Casper with PTSD.” Danny called Logan “Hairy Ferret Man.” A rivalry was born.
Also, it turned out that mutants at Xavier’s School had no chill. None. Zip. Zero. When they found out Danny could go intangible and invisible? Prank war. Full-on, Cold War-style prank war.
Kurt teleported hot sauce into his shoes. Danny replaced Kurt’s shampoo with slime from the Box Ghost. Bobby froze Danny’s underwear drawer. Danny phased into Bobby’s room at 3 a.m. and whispered “I’m always watching” into his ear like a cursed Roomba. Scott tried to discipline them with a “team bonding” exercise. Danny phased his clothes off in front of the entire class during the obstacle course.
He did not know Kitty Pryde could scream that loud. Or punch that hard.
Things escalated.
One day, Jean and Ororo walked into the library to find Danny floating upside down while holding a book with his foot, chewing a pen, and muttering to himself in the Ghost Zone’s dead language. When asked what he was doing, he said he was “reverse engineering a spectral war code to crash the cafeteria’s menu algorithm so they’d bring back pizza bagels.” Jean left the room. Ororo gave him a high five.
That might’ve been the least unhinged thing he did that week.
Because Danny had fans now. The students—bless their hormone-fueled, superpowered hearts—thought he was the coolest thing since Wolverine got into a fistfight with a vending machine. He had followers. A literal cult. Called themselves “The Phantom Phreaks.” They made glow-in-the-dark hoodies with his face on it. One kid tried to dye their hair white using bleach and ghost peppers. It didn’t go well.
It got worse when Peter Parker showed up.
Apparently, he was doing some college-credit tutoring with Xavier’s School because of course the kid with radioactive spider powers and crippling anxiety was the designated Marvel mentor. Peter tried to explain the concept of “laying low” and “not being a public menace” and Danny just blinked, turned intangible, floated through a wall, and popped his head back in to say, “I once bench-pressed a building-sized ghost walrus. I am beyond menace, Peter.”
They became friends instantly.
Peter would swing by to help with science classes and would end up staying for hours, mostly because Danny was a magnet for eldritch ghost disasters. One time, a time-displaced pirate specter named Captain Bloodwhistle tried to possess the student kitchen mixer. Peter got covered in spectral marshmallow fluff. Danny laughed so hard he accidentally ripped a hole into the Astral Plane. Peter got dragged halfway in. Jean had to psychic-yank him back with what she described as “a migraine made of bees.”
Also, Danny started dating one of the Cuckoo sisters.
He wasn’t sure which one. They wouldn’t tell him.
One of them would show up to lunch, sit next to him, hand him a thermos full of ghost chili, kiss his cheek, and then disappear into the crowd. Danny asked once if they were just messing with him. The Cuckoo in question smiled and said, “Maybe. Or maybe we’re all in love with you. Isn’t that romantic?”
He nearly screamed.
That was before the Avengers got involved.
Apparently, Xavier forgot to tell them he’d adopted a literal half-dead godchild of the underworld into his school. So one day Tony Stark landed in the front yard in a red-and-gold panic and tried to “detain the supernatural threat.” Danny responded by phasing into the suit, taking control of it, and flying it into the sky while singing “Let It Go” at full volume. Tony had to eject mid-air. He landed in a bush. Scott filmed it. Jubilee added sparkles in post.
Then Nick Fury showed up and tried to recruit him.
Danny told him he was already King of the Dead and the living were beneath him. Then he tripped on his shoelace and fell into a bush. Same bush Tony had landed in. They bonded. Kind of.
And then Loki showed up, because someone (cough Wanda cough) told him that a teenage ghost king with ancient death powers was living rent-free at Xavier’s. Loki tried to seduce Danny into joining his side. Danny asked if his horns were compensating for something. Loki cursed his shampoo to turn his hair pink. Danny retaliated by summoning an actual ghost bull to chase Loki through the halls while yelling, “Fight me, Party City Maleficent!”
Charles suspended them both for 48 hours.
Danny used the time off to open a haunted lemonade stand in the Danger Room. It made five grand and summoned three minor demons. Hank was not pleased.
And look, Danny was trying. He really was. He went to his classes (when he remembered), tried not to make sarcastic comments during training (he failed), and even got a job at the school paper writing ghost horoscopes. (“Sagittarius: avoid mirrors this week. Capricorn: the undead whisper secrets to you, don’t trust them unless they have snacks.”) But trouble followed him like a clingy poltergeist.
One time a field trip to Central Park ended with a ghost bear rampaging through the zoo. Another time, he got possessed by a Victorian poet ghost and started writing depressing haikus on the bathroom walls. He once accidentally opened a mini-portal in the girl’s dorm by sneezing. No one knew how. Not even Clockwork.
And oh, Clockwork?
He’d drop in occasionally, hovering in midair with that smug look, sipping ghost tea, and muttering things like, “Growth looks good on you,” while Danny was being chased by a ghost goose that had eaten a cursed student ID.
It was chaos.
It was ridiculous.
It was unhinged, feral, terrifying, and oddly heartwarming.
Because for the first time since he’d become half-ghost, since he’d died and come back and been crowned a spectral king with too many responsibilities and not enough hugs, Danny had a home that was weird enough for him. A home full of flying kids, clawed professors, laser eyes, psychic meltdowns, teleporting blue elves, and students who didn’t flinch when he told them his parents once tried to dissect him in a lab accident.
He was just another freak among freaks.
And he kinda loved it.
Even if his bedroom lights occasionally flickered Morse code insults.
Even if Logan kept threatening to shave his head in his sleep.
Even if Peter Parker made a “Ghost King Survival Kit” and stuffed it with snacks, holy water, and emotional support memes.
Even if the Cuckoo sisters left threatening notes in his locker written in glitter glue.
Even if Xavier kept giving him polite but exhausted psychic lectures about “not weaponizing the garden gnomes.”
Even if the Danger Room now had a setting labeled “Phantom Mode” that was literally just a green portal, a pissed-off dragon ghost, and an army of flying textbooks.
Danny Phantom was home.
And Ghost King or not, these mutants had no idea what kind of disaster they’d just adopted.

PSA for international Doctor Who fans who, like me, buy their Doctor Who Blurays from the UK: The 60th Anniversary Specials set recently released in the UK is region-locked to Region B.
This means it will not play on BD players purchased outside of the UK, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Australia, and New Zealand (regions A and C).
If you have a region-free BD player, or a player that lets you switch between different regions, you don't have anything to worry about. Your player may also have an unlock code that enables you to change the region lock-out, or enable you to switch between regions manually.
PC/Mac BD-ROM drives also typically let you change the region code, but only a certain number of times. Last time I checked, there was software that let you override this limit for the DVD region, but I'm not sure if that's also true for Bluray discs.
If your primary BD player is a console like an Xbox or PlayStation, you're SOL.
So far hasn't affected any other Doctor Who releases from the UK - I also bought "The Underwater Menace" recon and the remastered Series 1-4 set on Bluray, both of which play just fine - so I imagine it's a result of the Disney+ deal and will only impact the New New Who stuff. This probably means we won't get a UHD Bluray release anytime soon, as UHD Blurays don't have region-locking on them.

𝐎𝐬𝐜 𝐈𝐬𝐜 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐚𝐟𝐭
For my beloved son @jinjersnapz. I know I'm surprised I finally got around to doing this as well. Enjoy :*
Characters: Orderly!Blue, Jonathan, Nathan, Shiv, Jack Warnings: Vague fantasy death and torture references.
Tumblr media
𝐎𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐥𝐲!𝐁𝐥𝐮𝐞 𝐉𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬
Tumblr media
He saw some 'fuckwit' cleaner playing it on their phone and confiscated it. The moment his office door shut curiosity compelled him. Out loud he murmured that the app was 'stupid', meanwhile for the new few hours of his shift he continued taking over the poor cleaners world until the phone went from 84% to 17% and the diamond chest was emptied.
Most of the time he spent killing things, setting TNT off in the villages, luring creepers into pits of lava and eventually setting traps for any mob in sight. He has a particular hatred for parrots, their habit of mimicking mobs always startling him, especially if it was a spider or zombie sound, the paranoia would set him into a rage until his iron sword had hacked the poor bird to death.
𝐉𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐋𝐞𝐯𝐲
Tumblr media
The first time he played this game was in its early days, on an old Xbox, with his daughter. In her youth, she was mostly interested in finding dogs, giggling when Jonathan exaggeratedly fought off zombies and making oak plank houses with neon pink wool in creative mode.
Many years later, when his daughter was too old and cool to game with her dad, Jonathan found the old console and game while cleaning out the attic. Nostalgia plucked at his heart and led him downstairs to the living room to boot it all up. The updates took ages, and two cups of coffee ad a cigarette later he was sat there punching a tree.
Quickly he realised he was more of a creative mode man, much like his daughter, wanting to get lost in building a little plank house, starting a farm and amassing a small army of dogs.
A week later, he's watching YouTube tutorials on building cottages with working chimneys and maximizing villager profits.
Tumblr media
𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐁𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐧
He was the one that made the working Windows 7 in Minecraft. And the working red-stone powered Die Hard movie.
Ironically, he hated gaming in his younger days, opening more to it as he grew older. Getting up to workout every time there was a minor coding mishap was becoming a drag when setting elaborate red-stone traps to commit war crimes on innocent villagers was free.
On the odd occasion when he's had too many beers, he boots up a crazy mod pack, be it a zombie apocalypse, flood map or something that changes all the mobs to Nicolas Cage.
Tumblr media
𝐒𝐡𝐢
Playing minecraft was a nightly occurrence between Shiv and his son, always putting an hour or two into their shared world before bed.
To Shiv, playing wasn't something he did to appease his son, Minecraft was equally serious to both of them. The man finds himself going to sleep and planning their next nether trip on the odd night, or going to work still pissed off from the creeper that blew up the edge of their base the night before.
Despite being equally as scared of the mines as his son, Shiv takes up sword and shield to protect the boy and their cat as they strip mine.
He also threw his son a minecraft themed birthday party, partially for his own amusement.
𝐉𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐉𝐨𝐡𝐧 𝐉𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐬𝐨𝐧
Tumblr media
Had never heard of a 'mined craft' until he saw the display of it at a shitty target he was stealing from. Went back every day for a week straight to play on the little 'gizmo', being surprisingly peaceful with a little homestead and farm as he adventured.
Came back one day to see some kid had blew his stuff up and he wired a bomb to go off after the store closed so no one could enjoy it.

I know the last thing on people on tumblr’s minds is FPS games but I need to talk about this since an issue that has been plaguing a certain game for literal years and had made it unplayable as a result has finally been resolved.
Today I found out that, after 3 years of being hacked, DDOSed, shut down, and broken (in that order), the Titanfall 2 servers are back online and running mostly normally. It’s been a long, long time coming, since the community has been pleading for this exact thing to happen for so long, and it seems it’s finally been done. The janitor of Respawn finally learned how to code and fixed the servers, and for that we are ever grateful. Matchmaking is finally back to the way it was before all of the drama, the nonsense, the hacks, and the tearing down of a game.
I was playing the game for about 5 hours today nonstop after I heard the news. I have a new account entirely since the last time I played, so I have to re-acquire all of the stuff I once had, but that grind is so worth it. A certain meme comes to mind: “You’re as beautiful as the day I lost you…”. I even played a match of Halo Infinite at the very end just to compare the two, and the difference was night and day. Nothing against Halo, but the movement mechanics in Titanfall are on another level entirely, and everything feels so fluid and graceful, and it compliments the rest of the gameplay perfectly. Also who doesn’t love giant mechs?
Though the servers are back up, the community’s job really isn’t finished. We need to make sure the game is populated again, and show the devs that we are here and that we care about the game. We can’t let another incident shut the servers down for years again. If you’re not a part of it yet and want to check the game out, it’s on every platform save switch, it’s free with Xbox gamepass and/or EA play, and it’s even got a sale going on on Steam of like 90% off, making the price $3! I don’t wanna sound like a salesman, but there’s no better offer, no better bang for your buck if you want to get into movement shooters than this game, and you’ll be helping a community to save a game as well if you get it. Pass this message along to anyone who also likes FPS games too, it would really be appreciated!

What is the most awesome Microsoft product? Why?
The “most awesome” Microsoft product depends on your needs, but here are some top contenders and why they stand out:

🔨 TS4 Build mode cheat codes & shortcuts guide 🔨
Tumblr media
Cheat codes are simple but essential tool to build more freely in The Sims and create detailed and interesting or realistic lots and enhance the overall experience even when playing with base game only. Cheat codes are not CC, therefore your build will appear CC free in the gallery if you're not using any custom content.
Cheat codes and shortcuts guide below
To enter cheats you have to click ctrl/control + ⇧ Shift + C on your keyboard, this will open a typing space on the top left of your screen where you can enter the cheats listed below. To close it simply click ctrl+Shift+C again. For PS4 and Xbox: Press all four bumper buttons.
bb.moveobjects (type and hit send key) - if you enable only one cheat let it be this one. This is essential to freely place the objects, scale them, rotate them and combine them.
Tumblr media
This means the cheat is up and running - this will not slow down your game.
Now you can do a number of things with your items: If you click , and . you can turn the item left and right keeping it aligned to the base grid. If you want to place the item freely, ignoring the base grid and the regular game rules - that prevent you from placing objects on top of each other or even too close to each other - pick the item up and hold Alt (pc) Option (mac). To rotate the item ignoring the grid, pick up the item, hold Alt (pc) Option (mac) and drag. These shortcuts will allow you to create more interesting and realistic layouts by angling and layering object, and it also allows you to clutter surfaces more.
Tumblr media
You can also change the size of the objects by clicking [ and ] (or ù depending on the keyboard).
Tumblr media
Another super useful thing you can do is to raise an item after you placed it by clicking 9 (or ctrl + 9 if you don't want the build mode camera to move) and to lower it back by clicking 0. You can do this with mirror as well to change where they sit on the wall, and most importantly you can place clutter where there are no slot by raising the item, clicking Alt/Option ad dragging it in place.
Tumblr media
Now that you know how to arrange items in an interesting way, you need items to arrange! You can find a whole catalog of FREE items by using two other cheat codes.
bb.showhiddenobjects and bb.showliveeditobjects - typing these two codes (hit send key after each one) in the cheat bar allows you to use thousands of items that are already in your game but that you can't normally see. To find them you need to search for debug in build/buy menu, and a long list will show up! Have fun!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There are two other combinations that you need to know to really master your builds: Clicking ctrl/control + F on your keyboard while you're placing the flooring in your room allows you to place smaller triangular tiles (one quarter of a tile). This is super useful to create interesting patterns on your floors or to make pathways more interesting.
Tumblr media
Roofs can be challenging to deal with, but they are also crucial to the final build and can really make a difference. There is a way to unlock more options to curve your roofs by selecting the roof and clicking ctrl/control + Alt/Option + C. You will immediately see more manipulations handles appear, experiment with them!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
That's all for now, I hope this guide was useful for someone! Happy simming ✨ Dag Dag!

Hi everyone! So I been thinking hard on a rather unique 3way crossover that I been considering about writing. Please feel free to give me your input.
The 3 way crossover consist of DC x DP x Halo Infinite. With the ships being Jason and Danny (Obviously). Master Chief and Bruce as the second ship to be included. And Tim Simping for Katrina. (Cortana 2.0 from Infinite)
I see these possible dynamics being cute as Chief will learn how to be human, and how to love. Him and Team Phantom Finding Family. Also I don't mean the bull Chief pulled in the god awful Halo TV Show!
Bruce will learn that killing isn't an act of God. It isn't you kill once, and become a mindless murderer. That there is a difference, between a Soldier doing his duty to protect humanity and his loved ones. And a mindless killer, enjoying the horror of its victims as the bleed out with please for mercy. Effectively stealing their innocent lives... Oh also learn to not be as emotionally constipated after Katrina effectively out smarts him into a therapy session with Jazz Nightingale. (Last name changed after she saved Danny from the their parents lab…)
Danny will learn what it means to be apart of a family. And how screwed the GIW are.~
Jason, finds out he’s ghost pregnant and a heavy underdeveloped Halfa. All while the Pit becomes a full ghost that he ends up birthing. Which is gonna be a Dinosaur that will be Jason’s “Nightmare.” To his Fright Knight. (I am really wanting to go for Altispinax, or Spinax Vivosaur from Fossil Fighters series. But idk, might just use the Giga from Jurassic World Dominion. Just to change it up from what I seen people have the Pits become.
How Chief comes into the story however, would be introduced via Clockwork leaving a very obviously placed Halo Infinite Xbox Game case with a unmarked disc inside it. In an Alley Danny was taking refuge in. With a sticky note of course. And a few chapters in, when he was alone in Wayne Manor decided to play the game. And by Play. I mean go ghost and jump into the game. But of course. With his Fabulous Phantom Luck (trademark pending.) A new power began to make itself known as the code latched on him on his way out. Bringing Master Chief and Katrina to life in the real world, with all his memories and Katrina with the entire UNSC Database.)
While that’s how I plan to bring in Chief and Co. the main gist of this will be an all out battle, to destroy the GIW. Outlaws, Sirens, Chief and the entire Batfam Team up.
Despite the JL repealing the Anti Ecto Acts. A few Private donors continue to find them to get their hands on Ectoplasm. The League of Assassin’s, Lex Luthor. And of Course Vlad Masters will be the main villains connected to the GIW.
I can see Jason and Chief getting along like wildfire. And when Bruce finds out Jason is one leading the squad his kids, trying to get them to go on a date with Master Chief. It leads to some funny moments I would think. And of course can’t forget Chief reluctantly surprise appearance in Civies at one of Bruce’s Gala’s. (I kinda wanna make him wear Olive Green suit and dress pants. Black Bow Tie with a white under suit. Black belt. And an Olive Green Military Cap to hide his Neural Implant. Maybe having all his Medals from the service pinned to his chest. At least the ones that match ones in this universe. So not all of them obviously.
And Jason would absolutely catch his father freeze up when he sees the handsome Spartan.
For looks regarding Chief’s face since we don’t know what he looks like. I was thinking Caucasian Male, short brown hair that could be the right height to spike it up at least. Not a complete buzz cut. Rather bright blue eyes. That do not glow like Danny’s. But at least around that color. Of course he will have some scars on his left Temple, his lip and across his right eye. Freckles too. His muscle mass would of course be a bit more built then Jason. Which says something. But, you know. Super Soldier and all. (Update: I did in-fact Draw it ^^. If you want to see. Let me know if you wanna see Master Chief in a suit at the Gala ^^)
The Ages I was gonna go for was as follows.
Alfred: Immortal (Thanks Clockwork!)
John (Master Chief): 46yrs (I know it’s not his cannon Age. But it’s what I want for the story.)
Bruce: 45yrs
Barbara: 29yrs
Dick: 26yrs
Jazz: 21yrs
Jason: 21yrs
Cass: 20yrs
Sam: 20yrs
Danny: 19yrs
Duke: 19yrs
Steph: 19yrs
Tucker: 19yrs
Val: 19yrs
Tim: 18yrs
Ellie: 14yrs
Damien: 12yrs
Katrina: 6 months old
And that’s the little Fanfic I been thinking about. Of course it’s just an idea. but I think it would be fun to write.

InZoi Price, Free Update Plans, And Roadmap Revealed Just Before Launch
The developer says the game still has "a lot to improve on," so it's launching in an unfinished state
The life-sim game InZoi is coming this month, and the game's developer has finally confirmed additional key details, including the price of the game at launch.
youtube
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Game director Hyungjun "Kjun" Kim said during the InZoi global showcase that the game will debut on Steam in early access for $40, according to PC Gamer. He said the game still has "a lot to improve on," which is part of the reason why it's launching in early access.
Kjun also confirmed that InZoi will receive four free updates throughout 2025, while smaller updates will add things like new outfits and furniture--the plan is for these smaller updates to come at a pace of every three months. However, the final plan is not finalized and things could change, he said.
An update planned for May will allow players to visit a gym where they can change their character's body shape; an August update will add a "cat-themed city" for International Cat Day. Updates will also add things like modding support, in-game cheat codes, an adoption system, the ability to swim, freelancer jobs, hotkey customization, and the ability to change the temperature of indoor environments.
The developer confirmed that all updates are included in the $40 base price until InZoi launches its 1.0 version. This means there will be no paid DLC until then, it appears, but plans can always change.
InZoi is a Sims-like life sim from InZoi Studio and published by PUBG company Krafton. Like The Sims, players create, control, and observe the lives of "Zois" who are living in a simulation of the player's design.
InZoi releases in early access for PC on March 27. It's also in the works for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, but a release date for those console platforms has not been announced.
InZOI Roadmap for This Year
The Krafton team has revealed the exciting InZOI Roadmap for 2025. Including Free Base Game Updates for InZOI and the first ever World DLC release coming this Summer. All for free for those who purchase InZOI Early Access!

The Watchful
Taking a break from my break to do this because it's driving me insane that i'm not finding anything about this anywhere except here, specifically here and here thanks to @felassan (go check it out, small warning for trypophobia)
Apparently EA had a holiday promotion with Xbox and some people are getting the codes to get the promotional cosmetics just now but nobody had idea about it.
Overall the items look like made from a mix of something organic and mineral, colors are a sickly white and a desaturated black, and the shared element is the items seem to have multiple “eyes” of various sizes all over them in what looks like marble or some polished crystal, hence the “watchful” name. Lots of “eyes”, but also in some cases the items show cilindrical protuberances of the same material as the “eyes”. The set is a weapons cosmetics set and which ones players get depend on their Rook's class, and they are very suspicious. The descriptions taken from code are out of order and the only confirmed match between item and description is for the mage staff as the screenshot shows it, so i decided to try matching the others. The descriptions for saber and blade may go the other way around, i'm not sure. And it's interesting the code shows one for a quiver when quivers aren't equippable in game but rather part of the bows, but i guess that was there to sort of cover the absence of a Watchful armor.
Watchful Poinard/Dagger: “The small blade sees obstacles and drinks deep to remove them”
Watchful Saber: “Observes and obeys with perfect precision, as a good tool should”
Watchful Blade: “The long blade sees goals and opens the paths to desired outcomes”
Watchful Maul: “It sees. It crushes. It waits. The chains are ornamental now”
Watchful Staff: “A trusted tool that facilitates observation and will never reveal secrets”
Watchful Bow:“The arms tremble as if hungry for the arrow’s target”
Watchful Quiver:“Every archer needs a trusted pair of eyes at their back”
Watchful Shield: “Protection, warning, and when merited, shelter from the storm”
Other than visuals, the descriptions offer a common theme, evident in the set name. These are weapons that “see”, “observe”, “drink”, “open paths”, keep secrets, things that would imply they are somewhat sentient. At the same time they are “trusted tools”, they “obey”, and phrases like “the chains are ornamental now” from the Maul would imply these weapons on top of being sentient may have been enslaved but are now free. Other than the creepy factor, they don’t seem to be holding grudges, but are implied to be trustworthy and reliable.
The visuals, the watchful/eyes motif, the “shelter from the storm” in the Shield’s description and the mentions of obstacles, goals and paths to desired outcomes from the dagger and blade, it all tells me “Those across the sea”. They do seem to have had eyes everywhere in Thedas across the ages, they have observed, they have cleared the obstacles to their goals, their manipulation of actors throughout key events in Thedas' history have opened the path to their desired outcome. They have been waiting a long time to get rid of the Evanuris (“the chains are ornamental now” bit tells me there are no masters pulling them anymore).
The word “storm” from now on has an intriguing significance in DA and it’s undoubtedly linked to the Executors, those across the sea and the secret post-credits scene. Also the way some of these descriptions are redacted resembles how the mysterious voice speaks when each circle is found in DAV, and not to mention the color scheme screams it’s them.
What i'm wondering -and may be wondering forever because i doubt we ever get anything official on this- is why put this in cosmetics from a very limited holiday promotion??

✧ After Elden Ring: What Next?
Tumblr media
This is intended as a condensed, spoiler-free guide for people who have played Elden Ring and no other Soulsbornes, but are very curious about the rest of the genre. If you were enamored with Fromsoft's game design or lore, and are otherwise new to things, I'm here to peddle you some other potential starting points!
I'll give a lowdown on systems available, DLC available, and some thoughts in regards to each as a starting point post-ER. And just because I like him, also whether or not each game contains our favorite little guy: Patches!!!!!
Tumblr media
DARK SOULS 1 (2011) Systems: Playstation, Xbox, WIndows, Steam, Nintendo Switch DLC: purchaseable intact with special editions or purchased in online store (intact: Artorias of the Abyss, Prepare to Die, Remastered)
With slower combat than Elden Ring, and no fast-travel for a good portion of the game, this is often a tough sell for many. Nonetheless the entire Dark Souls saga is a shining gem of its own right, and it all starts here. The setting is somewhat similar to Elden Ring, albeit striking far further into Low Fantasy than High. You may or may not have some growing pains, but don't let that deter you; determination is all very much part of the experience. (And, it's got enough cracks in the code you can sufficiently cheese a lot, should you get fed up and stuck.) Contains Patches, the Trusty.
Tumblr media
DARK SOULS 2 (2014) Systems: Playstation, Xbox, Windows, Steam DLC: purchaseable intact with special editions or purchased in online store (intact: Scholar of the First Sin)
Considered by many to be the black sheep of the DS trilogy, given its abrupt change in development direction; nonetheless, it's still a VERY worthwhile title, and a very apt inclusion into the Dark Souls story. Certain mechanics such as a gradual, incremental loss of HP bar per each death MAY seem daunting, but for a mediocre player like me it actually wasn't all that big a deal. You COULD jump into this one as a starting point, but you may as well just go for DS1. Does NOT include Patches (but has a Patches-like).
Tumblr media
DARK SOULS 3 (2016) Systems: Playstation, Xbox, Windows, Steam DLC: purchaseable intact with special editions or purchased in online store (intact: The Fire Fades Edition)
Faster-paced in combat than the previous two titles, it serves as a decent starting point from Elden Ring, if only for the relative similarity in feel and mechanics. It also has just a bit more hand-holding that the previous two, though nothing to sand away the bulk of challenges. But as the final title in the trilogy, and intended in and of itself as a send-off, though, if story is your priority then you're best off starting with DS1. Contains Patches, the Unbreakable.
Tumblr media
DEMON'S SOULS (2009/2020) Systems: Playstation Only DLC: no expansions, only items
Alright so I haven't played the remake, which also may very well be the most accessible to you unless you have a PS3 and the original discs. Nonetheless, Demon's Souls in and of itself was the predecessor to Dark Souls, and the beginning of the Soulsborne formula itself. It seems a bit simpler on the surface, but there's a lot of brutal charm here all the same, and unique lore you could still dig through for years. Contains Patches, the Hyena.
The remake is most easily available, and has a higher graphical fidelity if you're into that; nonetheless, there's been a lot of understandable qualms about the changes made in much of the art direction from the original, so if you want the true, ORIGINAL intentions in full... well, find yourself a letsplay or a PS3.
Tumblr media
BLOODBORNE (2015) Systems: Playstation Only DLC: must be purchased intact in special editions or purchased in online store (intact: The Old Hunters)
Everyone's favorite. Bloodborne is a standalone Soulsborne that gave the genre that latter half of its name, and takes place in a horrific, Victorian-era England. Its primary focus is on offense over defense, and there's a bit less customization available in builds... nonetheless, the trick weapons are fun as all hell. It's got a unique, dreadful atmosphere unlike anything else, and a feel I've been craving to see again anywhere. Contains Patches, the Spider.
Tumblr media
SEKIRO: SHADOWS DIE TWICE (2019) Systems: Playstation, Xbox, Windows, Steam, Stadia ?? DLC: no expansions, only items
While NOT a true Soulsborne, it's considered by many to be within the fringes of the formula. I personally still have yet to play this one, but the combat is apparently fast-paced, and primarily focused on deflections, with a story centered in fictionalized Sengoku Japan. It's been praised consistently and highly by many, but may have a bit of a learning curve. Does NOT include Patches, to my knowledge.
Tumblr media
ARMORED CORE VI: FIRES OF RUBICON (2023) Systems: Playstation, Xbox, Windows, Steam DLC: none. yet?
.... Okay this one isn't a Soulsborne at all. It's actually the long-awaited revival of Fromsoft's Armored Core series, and it's a mech game. But do you like crazy customization in builds? Do you love Fromsoft's lore and stories, and want to see their unique writing in a fresh, yet still crazily strong take? Do you LOVE critiques of hypercapitalism and want to see it all burn? Please play AC6. Please. It was so fucking good. (Doesn't contain Patches, but he DID appear in AC4: For Answer)
_________________________________________
And that's that! If you feel I missed anything, or have any further questions, don't hesitate to add anything on or shoot me a message. Elden Ring has brought sooo many new people into the fold and there's so much more for you to discover!!! Don't ever be afraid to try out the rest, challenge yourself, and fall in love!! ദ്ദി(˵ •̀ ᴗ - ˵ ) ✧
