#Nate’s constantly being made fun of for being average while Ash is an unhinged freak even in the context of his own batshit crazy homeworld#Nate lives in a particularly haunted corner of the real world while Ash’s weird alien world is a speculative evolution clusterfuck#Nate lives like a normal small town teenager his age who goes to school and sleeps in a house.#Ash is a professional exotic animal trainer who lives out of a tent and apparently pays his own taxes if the novel is to be believed.#Yo-Kai are a Weird Other that’s strange and unexplainable and the other humans don’t even know they exist#While Pokémon are integral to everyday life in Ash’s world and if they disappeared one day his society would collapse#Yo-Kai cause problems on purpose while Pokémon are mostly in a symbiotic relationship with humans#and Meowth is the odd one out for being openly malicious to the twerps.
