anyways, chert with a kangaroo tail bouncing instead of walking, no I need serious post. At time of hatchling launch day, say hatchling is 19-20 when launching, feldspar has been gone seven years. I don’t know how to begin to approach coming up with the reasons they were able to survive for seven years. maybr…

gossan always feared feldspar getting into a crash they couldn’t be rescued from easily, or them getting lost to the void of space with no fuel and no means to track them. so they probably packed a years worth of rations into the ship, fighting with slate the entire time about “carrying capacity” and “worrying too much.”

feldspar is stupid, but they aren’t dumb. They took one look at gossan’s written manual on rationing the rations, saw them say it could only last a year, and took that as a challenge. They needed some heavy initial intake for immediate healing after the crash, so they were able to make it last between 1.5-2 yrs. They got, veery sickly and malnourished, but it worked for a time

we dont see it in game, but if the travelers have all of the means to set up a semi permanent camp, why wouldn’t they also take seeds for trees that can bear fruit? Feldspar got them to grow after some time, and helped after the rations ran out. There wasn’t much nutrition in the soil of the anglerfish skeleton (related: tree fic named Tree Life), so they didn’t last much too long, but probably got them out to year 3-3.5

the water collectors (moisture farm? vapor condenser? Idk a good name but you get the idea) we’re actually very, very effective inside the node. Turns out, having grown from an ice planet, there is a looooot of moisture and water floating in dark bramble. One can tide them over for 2 years, and they have 3

after the fruits are gone and dead, all the soil used up, they probably had to get adventurous again, seemingly out of food at the moment. They have tanks full of jetpack fuel, and all the time in the world, so they go hunting for anglerfish. Of course, they only spear the mini ones, not a chance of anything more grown than a baby, and collect the eggs if they’re feeling reckless enough (and they are bc they’re feldspar). they have plenty of fuel by year 4.5-5, but a near fatal encounter with the anglerfish knocked them down a few pegs, alongside breaking their… speargun, I guess? No, it’s just a piece of pipe sharpened on the anglerfish skeleton with a rope attached to it, and maybe a fishing rod to actually hook the anglers

year 5 is year of the egg and year 6 is year of the bug. they had collected several hundred eggs and prevented them from hatching (shake it fast and hard for a bit), and they stay useable for a long while. Or at least, if they muscle through the myriad of symptoms that eating early eggs gives them, they’re useable for a while. But they run out, and so? Bugs. Yeap, they gotta eat bugs! Nothing much to it to be honest. Maybe they’ve been intermittently eating bugs in place of other items throughout their stay at Dark Bramble Express & Suites, so they don’t immediately use up all of their bugs, but like, bugs throughout get them going to the end of year 6

at year 7, they are running out of bugs. to avoid getting into the more uhh, sourcing of food “from the self” gory aspect of extreme survivalism (although in another post, that is exactly what happens here instead of bugs), I’ll say they’ve been on a grueling regiment of bug and jellyfish rations by the time the hatchling finds them. just in time!

if gossan knew that feldspar kept that drawing they made on the rations manual, gossan’s little scribble of the five founders together, kept it on their body at all times to always remind them of home, I think they would be put at ease just a little bit more, even if felds were to never get back home.

Ok so in reverse Robin aus I hate when Tim becomes redhood bc it’s really ooc for him, BUT Steph becoming the black mask after the incident but struggling with the business part (she is smart business is hard) and Tim becoming her right hand is in fact in character for him

seeing as he would not be obsessed with a dick Grayson who despite his murderous tendencies was light, and kind, and Jason who was all Robin gives me magic 😀

but instead Damian who is just as gritty as his father and a bitter Steph?

Let's add on, shall we?

Here's some tropes I don't prefer in Reverse Robin AUs:

Tim becoming Red Hood (Tim stealing Jason's shtick again is hilarious in the regular timeline). I will read a good fic with Tim as RH, but I prefer Tim to be Joker Junior, a completely new identity, or an Oracle-like identity.

Batman's partner being named "Robin" (that was Dick's identity he got from his parents. They should have another name)

I personally like Duke being the first one Batman adopts. Maybe Duke's parents get gassed in an alley in front of Batman, and Bruce decides to adopt Duke. The kid can still have his whole gang, and that's how Bruce decides to train Duke instead. Not sure.

Anyways, this could play into the AU you mentioned.

Damian moves on from his mantle, but Duke is still there. Steph, who Duke and Batman meet when she's Spoiler, agrees to fill in Damian's vacancy.

Tim meets Steph on the streets. He would be older than her in this. Your choice on how fanon it is (does he stalk Bats from a young age to take pictures of them), but I like the idea that he sent in cases he solved or tips he heard about.

When she dies, Damian comes home, and Duke is still there. Damian doesn't return to his previous mantle, but he's around. He's actually talking to Bruce again. Bruce thus doesn't grieve her much.

Tim doesn't see a need to step in.

Tim grieves his friend (or gf if that's your preference). Perhaps he goes abroad for a bit to distance himself from the city. There's bound to be some international programs his parents would like for him to take part in. Perhaps he still gets that Lady Shiva training. Dealer's choice.

After a year or two abroad (and if he got training, he learned from more teachers), Tim hears news about someone trying to rival Black Mask.

Since Black Mask took Steph from him, he sees this as a possible chance for revenge. He returns to Gotham.

I don't know if Steph would take up the mantle "Black Mask," but I could see her taking up a moniker that would mock the man (like White Veil, Lilac Cover, or something).

During her time "dead," she ends up getting training. Not sure who'd train her, but she learns more than Bruce ever taught her. Perhaps Helena and her end up chatting?

She's clever, and her father helped her knowledge on the criminal workings of Gotham. She utilizes her skills to gather people on her side and make them loyal to her (by providing great worker benefits, ig).

Tim offers his services to her gang without knowing it's Steph as the head (he plans to ruthlessly use them to get his revenge). Dealer's choice on whether Steph immediately lets him in or doesn't trust him (due to trauma with her death and shit).

Tim does some of the business and intel gathering. He occasionally goes in the field as well. Steph is the main brawns, gang director, and manager. She knows how gangs work, what her people really need/want, and how to manipulate the playing field. Tim can learn these things and suggest moves to Steph, but leaves decision-making to her.

Bruce, due to not knowing Tim, hasn't had the chance to instill tension between Steph and Tim. They have issues like all relationships, but they work it out. There's nowhere near the amount of shit there is in canon.

Maybe Tim's parents are dead by the time Steph gets back. Either way, I hope Crystal learns that her daughter is alive again

alright. So.

there are a looooot of routes one can take with this. so many. and i’m not sure i can choose a favourite amongst them, but i will say that i enjoy the ones that are packed full of angst and hurt/comfort because sangcheng shines the brightest when they are both miserably sopping wet and find unexpected comfort in one another (bc they are the only two ppl that can understand what the other went thru) 🤌

in most cases, it’s either JC or NHS finally reaching out to the other after GY temple.

While I personally find it less likely for JC to reach out to NHS first, (because he’s not really the type of person to do that sort of thing) the aftermath of GY temple shows a notable upset in his behaviour that will probably leave him in a state of heavy contemplation for a long while. So it is possible he would reconsider his approach to life and seek out an old flame, especially if he and NHS were a Thing during the short period of time after the 1st siege of BM but before NMJ passed, and NHS had been the one to pull away first due to his brother’s death.

As for NHS, the most commonly used idea i’ve seen is where he’s finally accomplished his revenge and now has the actual opportunity and time to go and win JC back. So he’s incredibly pushy and enthusiastic in his approaches whether (covert or overt) and JC is resistant until he Isn’t. Or JC will keep pushing him away until NHS eventually goes “okay i understand i won’t bother u anymore” and dumbass JC will be like “🧍no wait.”

Additionally, I’ve seen NHs often portrayed as lost and lonely after GY temple and seeks out JC—who is ever the straightforward, unrelenting man—for guidance, eventually staying at LP for a spell and becoming attached to JC. Now this I don’t fully agree with unless it takes place long after, because NHS is shown to be very satisfied with himself immediately after obtaining his vengeance, and competent at leading his men during the burial of his brother. So only once that initial high of achieving his goals wears off (bc as we have seen in the novel, there’s a reoccurring theme that seeking revenge ≠ good ending) and NHS begins to feel empty would I consider this route viable.

We can also use confrontation as a means of reintroducing sangcheng post canon. It’s possible JC had overheard or will later find out about WWX’s conjectures regarding NHS’s involvement in JGY’s demise at GY temple. If we are to take these conjectures as fact, then it adds yet another layer of angst for our beloved sangcheng to navigate. JC angrily confronting NHS afterwards can facilitate the start of their reconciliation. However, for this route to work, NHS must have been attempting to thwart JL from entering Yi City with the dead cats rather than luring him there along with the other juniors (bc this event can be interpreted either way), or JC must have already slept with him at one point during post Sunshot or CR era. Reason I’m saying this is because JL is the most important person to JC, so if NHS had actually tried to kill him then in all likelihood JC is just going to kill NHS or write him off and be done with it. But if they had slept together, then in the same way JC could not bring himself to hate WWX even after he had a hand in getting JYL killed, I don’t think he’d be able to fully hate NHS either. Now this is fully my own personal hc, but I really see JC as the type to imprint on people, and the intimacy that can come with sleeping together is the perfect catalyst for that. He’s not going to sleep with just anyone—he’s going to sleep with someone that means something to him. And once he has, that person will permanently leave a mark on him (I am not shy about reusing this concept in my fics lmao). So now we have a conflicted JC that wants to rage at NHS but cannot bring himself to physically hurt him at the same time and doesn’t that remind you of someone else? oh-ho! how delicious this soup is. 🤌🤌🤌

So we’ve established that one party reaching out or confronting the other are the most effective ways to reintroduce sangcheng post canon, but what if they just. Don’t do that. What if neither of them wants to see the other or speak to the other again? Ah, see now we have something a little more meatier and juicer to chew on.

Sangcheng want to remain estranged, but what if they are forced into proximity with one another, whether it be due to cultivation conferences, or more evil beings manifesting in the MDZS world inciting chaos or conflict? WWX elopes with LWJ post canon, but now we have NHS as another piece of JC’s past to replace him. Being around someone that you once shared something special with but no longer recognizing them as as they once were after all that happened…do you see the potential here? Neither of them reach out, but neither of them can look away either. The want is there, the need is there. And as we are all well aware, JC is a man that wears his entire heart on his sleeve. He literally cannot hide his emotions. NHS is the opposite. This will undoubtedly lead to conflict, and more importantly, connection.

JC becoming frustrated, “why are you acting like nothing ever happened between us?” and NHS, “I don’t know what it means to love anymore. I don’t even know who I am anymore. we’re not the same people we once were. just forget about me, Jiang-zongzhu.”

JC, “if you want me to forget about you then stop casting looks my way. stop making it harder.”

This could very likely end with a rump in the sheets, which would only further exacerbate the situation and make it nigh impossible for Sangcheng to get over each other. They’ve diseased each other. They’re addicted to each other. And resistance is futile, whether it takes months or years.

On a completely different note, there’s even the possibility of Sangcheng becoming a thing Post Canon even without having a relationship or feelings for one another during the main story. Sort of a realization moment where they just randomly look at one another one day and realize, “Ah. you are just like me, aren’t you?”

In conclusion, the possibilities for post canon sangcheng are absolutely endless.

And sangcheng has rotted my brain.

Fanfic writers work way too hard and for FREE to be deduced down to competing with AI. It’s killing the creatives. It’s killing everything fun about fandom.

Every single one of my friends who are writers and/or artists have worked so so hard to be where they are. To acquire the writing and drawings skills they have. I’ve been writing since I was 12 years old. I was the bad fanfiction writer. I wrote really fucking bad Hunger Games and One Direction fics back then. I’ve been through multiple fandoms. I’ve written hoards of things. And a looooot of them were fucking bad, dude. And each time I write something, I get just a little better. That’s the only way to keep doing that too. But each of the “bad” fics in a tag, I’d rather support than fucking AI.

My friends and I sit around in our servers and group chats and bang around ideas for fics— ALL the time. It’s part of the fun of creating in a fandom. We ask for help from one another when we don’t know something. Hell I’ve had to bug a lot of people recently about UK-isms for dialogue recently. You’ve gotta learn how to google. To research on your own. And plus, it’s so discouraging seeing AI generated content get more interaction than actual human written shit. Write your idea. Have someone Beta instead of running to grammarly. No matter how embarrassing you think it is.

Your favorite writers and artists are providing you with content, that they spent time away from their busy lives to create, for free. The least y’all could do is block AI generated shit out of fandom spaces.

But I was just asked about this fic recently in Discord and I also remembered the unresolved subplot involving Neji I had planned, ironically thanks to some no-life Hinata-hater on here tumblr, and the amount of angst that subplot is gonna bring. 🤭 So my interest has been renewed, yay!

But I can't bring myself to raise it high on my priority list just yet. 🥲 I have AWY, Work Friends, Idle Hands reboot, Stepdaddy!Naruto DILF fic, Narutoland... and I'm kinda looking at finally editing Runner's High and starting it again...🫠 It's a looooot. 😅 I want to update each of these at least once within the next three months if I'm lucky. 😭 After that, not sure which ones will be my regular focus. I'd like AWY and Idle Hands to for sure be up there tho. I guess Work Friends and Runner's High after that. DILF fic and Narutoland... 🤔

Hi, this is the first time I've written to someone, so I'm a little excited. I wanted to know if you've heard of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Eyes of Heaven? In it, the characters from jojo travel through different parts of the series.

Your work "Good Fortune" has been on my mind for three days (it's written very atmospheric🔥. I love Dio from the first part). I was wondering if Dio's views (from the following parts) on his childhood friend would have changed if they had met in the past.

Hello dear 🫶 I’m so ?? That people like that fic that was so long ago and I admit it’s one of the faves I’ve done :) I love part 1 Dio too.

As for the second question, I think it truly depends! I think part 6 (since he’s technically a flashback) Dio would be very introspective about his relationship with his friend/old love [Im assuming by what you meant was that these different Dio’s are going back to P1/friend is meeting him in the future] By this point Dio has had almost a hundred years of thinking and getting reacquainted with life, seeing them might rekindle those old feelings and I believe he’d intend on having them join in on his idea of heaven, in line with more of savior complex. It’s selfish, but he doesn’t care, in this new world they will achieve Heaven and be above the crap that separated them in the first place. Despite this, I do not think he would ever replace Pucci as his loyal friend, I think he’d recognize his own bias and his partner’s character as a clash to the plan and his new philosophy.

If a Phantom Blood Dio (mask off and everything) got to see them, definitely more impulsive and would be more concerned with keeping them close. I’d say kind of like a feral guard dog or wounded animal, because this would be in the midst of his grief and anger. His ‘worse’ qualities and his shortsightedness would really take hold and it would take a looooot to reason with him. He just wants them back and to stay forever, and I think that would even make him try to convince them to take the mask alongside him.

Part 3 Dio is tricky I think by this point he’s so far gone that he would basically be like ‘yes I appreciated the relationship but I am so beyond this’. Holds respect and nostalgia for his friend, but not in the way he respects Jonathan. I think it’s a very different type of way where he also lowkey might be condescending to them for even dying in the first place (possibly as a way to reason with his grief and the fact it’s been over a hundred years in his eyes). I think he’s also terrified seeing this ghost of his past, as it reminds him he’s not immune to death and he needs to achieve heaven and the security that comes with it. Those feelings and attachments are just a weakness and he can’t be fully secure there.

Regardless, there is still an attachment there, no matter how long it’s been or how he behaves. He remembers and he remembers well.

New Year Writing Tag

Good Morning 2025!!!!! Thank you for tagging me @cinnamontails-ff I've been meaning to go in depth about my writing this past year :)

What's been your biggest learning point this past year?

Perserverance. And how that goes hand in hand with patience. With hyperfixating on things and burning too quickly through all my passion for a project, I am known for starting something in a rush and then just never returning to it. Despite having my ups and downs this year with consistency. I kept coming back to a project, even if it wasn't what I wanted it to be right away. I haven't been able to keep up with myself on those terms since the early days of my writing.

How has your writing developed this past year?

I've been trying to learn the balance between cutting down and expanding on an idea. Getting rid of filler words has tidied up my writing a lot, but because I'm a certified yapper I'm sure I'll continue working on that in the new year. The expansion usually comes into my drafting process when I'm trying to set a scene or connect themes across chapters. (Shout out drafting! You were my enemy for so long, and this year I finally gave you a chance!)

Good writing habits?

Writing things down when I think of them. I'm not perfect at this yet, but I spent many workdays scribbling on scrap pieces of paper and now my life is littered with multi-colored notes. But that's better than my overarching habit of saying "oh, I'll just remember that."

Bad writing habits?

Comparison and self-talk. For as many hours as I spend writing I spent twice as much time beating myself up for it. There are very few cases where a good writing flow and positive feelings about the words on the page actually line up. But the unreasonable standards I hold myself to are a constant lesson I'm having to reteach myself. Perfectionism you win again.

Favorite thing you wrote?

Honestly? Probably my holiday au. I wrote thousands upon thousands of words for my long fic and there are some scenes that I think about constantly. (Shoutout sunset scene you know who you are!) But with how much fun I had switching up to a modern, rom-com style, I fear it has to take the award.

Favorite reads?

I had a very lame published reading year. Again with the not finishing things trope. But "Six of Crows" by Leigh Bardugo was one of my completed reads and I absolutely adored it.

Biggest win?

I think getting past the brain dump stage of writing and actually making headway towards finishing a long work (or even a short one). And even though it seems silly, having my writing read by one of my favorite writers (who tagged me in this no less!! I hope this isn't cringey behavior) has got to be one of my top events of 2024. It's very hard for me to allow people access to my work. Friends, family, people I look up to. I literally fight it tooth and nail, despite having a need for feedback and shared joy. So, this was really something special and I think of it very, very fondly.

Goals for the new year?

Finish something. I want to complete at least one work and hold it in my hands, maybe even learn a little book binding to make it feel real and prove to myself that I can pull through.

Work on my personal novel projects. I really want to have a first draft of a publishable story.

Give myself grace and room to breathe when it comes to critiquing myself.

Your favorite words for the year, aka the words you check each chapter for, making sure you didn't repeat them 788 times?

"perhaps", "eyes", "look", "hand", "given", "quite". There's a lot of Astarion angst words that I had to look out for. "Churning", "broiling", "aching", "burning". A looooot of drama words.

What are you excited for in the new year?

Already being so close to achieving one of my biggest goals. I have a short story on the cusp of completion, and I can't wait to experience that feeling of success.

Working on building a writing community. I haven't had a group of writers around me since my middle school days. I think it would help me feel less like I'm projecting words into the void by having people around who know the ups and downs of this passion.

Sweet Dreams Are Made of This DS9, Quodo cuddling, Odo is a blanket. Of all my fics this is the one I’m most perplexed by its kudo count. Are people that hungry for hurt/comfort pre-slash? Was it on a rec list of a popular blogger I’m unaware of? I don’t know, like it’s very nice it's good fic, but not one I think about often.

What Is This Feeling, So Sudden and New? DS9, Quodo, Odo adjusts to being solid, drinks all sorts of drinks, and has a sexual awakening. Now this is the fic I’m most proud of. That makes sense. Sexual tension! Plot! Emotional beats paced just right! (imo)

like to the lark at break of day arising OFMD, Stede/Ed’s first time, silly but emotional sex. This one I posted just at the right time in the fandom, and I had a lot of fun with it. Dumb banter, Stede gets carried away, Ed nuts and cries, I’m hitting all my favorite tropes lol.

Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? 

I always try to!!! The exception being if I’m not paying attention to fandom at all at the time, I go through phases like anything.

As a reader, I love to comment for the author interaction -- especially because sometimes you mention something you liked and it unlocks a whole interesting train of thought from the author about the behind the scenes insights, like a bonus meta. I’m obsessed by this pairing, you are too, please tell me everything hell yeah.

Do you write crossovers? 

I’ve written one Glee/TNG and one Glee/Harry Potter. Not generally though.

Do you write smut? If so, what kind? 

Yes. Oh idk whatever I think is hot that the character also might be into. It has to be goofy, somewhat ridiculous, and definitely too many feelings are involved... 

Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Have you ever had a fic translated? 

I think someone asked me for permission once or twice, but I don’t remember if I saw the final result.

Have you ever co-written a fic before? 

No, gosh that’d really have to be the right person because it sounds maddening as a process. The potential to be more fun?? But potentially more frustrating.

What's your all time favorite ship? 

Oh you know. Somehow I started writing for rubber head aliens and never looked back.

What's a WIP that you want to finish but probably never will? 

I’m bad at starting things (there are tons of fic prompts I squirrel away for a rainy day), but compulsive about finishing them. If I have more than a couple hundred words written, by jove I’ll figure out a way to get to something I can call a final product that I share, even if it's several years later. 

Even when I’ve posted WIPs, almost the entire fic was written, I just needed to iron out details in the second part and only published the first part to stop myself from messing with it. Actually, exception that proves the rule (?) Coin-Operated Boy is my first true WIP, where I have a long list of ideas brainstormed, but I’m writing a bit by the seat of my pants rather than having all the plot points mapped out already. We’ll see how that goes, always fun to try something new!!

I’m also still committed to finishing the fic I started where Quark and Odo meet in prison and escape together based on this one comic about Rocket/Groot I read. I have like 7k written but there’s a looooot of rough sketchy bits and both details and broad strokes I have to figure out first.

What are your writing strengths? 

Managing tone? Something I enjoy doing anyway -- zipping along on a wild ride from goofy to angsty to heartfelt to absurd and back again. I’ve also been told I’m good at weird banter lol.

What are your writing weaknesses? 

Awkward run on sentences where I’m trying to pack too much in at once. PLOT ??? WHAT IS PLOT why can’t the characters just have a lot of feelings for no reason idk idk. being heavy handed with metaphors and ~themes~

What's a fandom/ship you haven't written for yet, but want to? 

I want to write for Phlox sometime. I’m sure there’s a Quark rare pair I haven’t touched yet that’ll get obsessed with enough for a oneshot lol.

What's your favorite fic that you've written?

“What Is This Feeling?” has my whole heart. 

"Dinner for One" also has a special place - getting out my Sisko family feels, plus I pulled off making Siskuark happen (briefly) lol.

oof, it's a whopping 606,304 (most of which were this year and last as i've only recently gotten back into writing)

3. what fandoms do you write for?

at the beginning it was one piece / naruto and then hannibal and supernatural, but now it's strictly PPCU (pedro pascal cinematic universe)

5. do you respond to comments?

i try to!! i get easily overwhelmed on the tumblr side of things but i do try by best to at least do a few hearts or an overall thank you for the response and interaction on something c:

as of right now, it's a wip that is pre-outbreak! tommy miller x reader

7. what's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

all of them! i try to do happy endings bc i need that in my life and feel like the characters deserve it beyond words

8. do you get hate on fics?

unfortunately, yes. i received a lot on the first couple chapters for {of beskar and kyber} and {garnish} and a looooot on {by the grit of sandpaper} it is what it is, i try not to let it get to me, but sometimes it does. but at the end of the day, i write for me and share it with y'all bc i want to, it's a simple solution to just stop sharing if it grows or gets out of hand (even if i'd rather not do that)

9. do you write smut?

i do indeed, some of it is really tame while some of it is truly unhinged lol

10. craziest crossover?

i'm in the process of trying to do a cross over with din djarin into the world of the southern reach trilogy but i dunno if it will ever see the light of an internet page

again, yes unfortunately. both {garnish} and {gone to the dogs} has been copy and pasted

8. Do you get hate on fics? > Sometimes. Mostly people who get upset that I write about problematic things (noncon/dubcon, abusive relationships, etc.) Strangely, I have written about waaaaay more problematic things (in my opinion), yet no one ever talks about those things.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? > Yes. I write a lot of smut. It's all bad because I have to think of how sex works as an asexual and... lol. I don't know. I have a limited knowledge of that kind of stuff.

10. Do you write crossovers? > Never. I don't read them either.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? > Stolen? No, but I did have a fic where the back half of it was copied. So... plagiarized.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated? > Someones asked to translate a fic into Chinese once, but I don't know if they ever did. Oh well.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? > Yes? Sort of? I mostly wrote it and asked the other person what their OC would say in a given situation.

14. What’s your all time favorite ship? > I am a shipping junkie. I love shipping. I have many ships and am a multi-shipper. I cannot pick a favorite.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? > To Have and Hold or Absolutely Nothing. I know exactly how each one goes. I know everything that happens. I just... I have started to really fall out of Obey Me, plus both of those fics are very taxing for different reasons. I may just release a plot summary at some point if people want them?

16. What are your writing strengths? > I have no idea? People tell me I am good at characterization and I accept the compliment, but... I don't know how much I agree with that. (Y'all caught me on a down swing in my self-confidence, sorry)

17. What are your writing weaknesses? > I have always hated overly descriptive language so I am not great at it. If it takes you 3 pages to describe the couch someone is sitting on... I am out. No thanks. Not my thing. However, that means I suffer when it comes to vivid descriptions.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? > It's cool. I don't speak a second language, so I try to only use fictional languages in my fics so that I don't accidently say anything weird or offensive.

19. First fandom you wrote for? > My first fanfic was for Babe so... I was, like, 8. If you mean when I actually started writing in modern times though... it was Homestuck.

20. Favorite fic you’ve written? > Umm.... I don't know? My comfort fic is Follow Someone Home so... I guess that? But it's not my favorite in the way I think this question is asking. It's just to one I type away at when I need something relaxing.

11. What's an idea for a fic you've had that you'll probably never write?

A Warrior Nun piece I started (and started posting, oopsie lol) but is now WAY too far gone for me to pick up--an exploration of the Halo as sentient/compilatory, Ava reliving flashes of the other Warrior Nuns' lives, how it affects her relationships (namely with Bea but with the others as well). It was definitely going to include Ava-as-Melanie fucking a woman who looks like Beatrice in that pub in the journal.

23. What's the most personal fic you've ever written?

Gotta be some of the later Kahlan chapters in The Weight of Us. (no, I haven't abandoned it, yes, I'll be back <3.) There's a looooot of me in those. Made them tough to write.

🥹 Aw, I'm glad!! Thank you for sending an ask! This was actually one of my first F1 WIPs, but it was requiring sooo much research that I took a break that turned into a complete abandonment. But hopefully, I'll go back to it one day!

Here's a little snippet I wrote for Charles' first day in the paddock 💪

The only word his brain has the capacity for after the first day is tired. 

The minute they land in Melbourne, they’re heading to the track to begin setting up the garage for the arrival of the cars. Charles gets issued a full team kit, including socks with the Ferrari logo. As soon as he puts them on, he finally feels like it’s real. It’s really happening.

“You’re, Charles, yes?” one of the mechanics asks him in Italian while they’re setting up. “From Monte Carlo?”

He nods. “Yes, nice to meet you...”

“Alessandro. But you can call me, Alé. I believe we’re roommates.”

“Nice to meet you, Alé,” Charles says, shaking his hand. The other man seems young, but still older than Charles. “What do you do?”

“I’m a gearbox mechanic,” Alé says, smiling. “And I operate the front-right gun for the pit. My first race was Melbourne in 2017. So I know what you’re feeling right now.”

“And what am I feeling?” Charles asks, arching a brow in challenge.

“Scared as shit,” Alé says, grinning. Charles laughs, but he doesn’t have the heart to correct him. He’s not scared - if anything, he’s the most ready he’s ever felt. But he doesn’t think anyone would believe him if he said so. “Your Italian is not bad.” 

Charles knows this means it’s quite good, otherwise Alé wouldn’t have said anything. “I’ve been learning since I was a child.” Alé nods.

“Is it ‘Sharl’ or ‘Charles’?” Alé asks, pronouncing it with and without the ‘s’ sound at the end.

“Either is okay,” he says, shrugging. “I like both.”

“Well, you’re very easygoing,” Alé says, chuckling. “Very polite.” Charles smiles, but it occurs to him that maybe he’s being made fun of. He brushes it off though, focusing back on what he’s doing.

Everything, of course, becomes even more real when the cars arrive and he has to begin his real work. He’s been assigned especially to the brake department, as they’ve started to see a brake overheating issue and needed someone dedicated to monitoring them and replacing parts if necessary. 

He records the thickness of all of the brake pads and discs, so he can later examine the wear after practice and qualifying sessions. It’s a clockwise circuit, so Charles in addition to putting the slightly denser brake pads at the front of both cars, installs the heaviest at the left-front brake. They’re meant to all be the same size, but there are always slightly heavier pads and discs.

In addition to this job, he’s also part of the car crew for what will this year be Carlos Sainz’s car. He knows a bit about Sainz - he’s had a successful few seasons in Formula One already, particularly last year where he’d raced surprisingly well in the sub-par McLaren car. It was what had won him his seat, replacing Sebastian Vettel in what had been a slightly shocking decision to Charles. He’s not the only one interested in what Sainz might be able to pull off in a Ferrari.

As soon as the car is built, they’re doing pit-stop practice until late into the evening. There isn’t a curfew for Thursday, so they take advantage of every moment of time available. Charles has been assigned to the left-rear corner, where he removes the old tire from the car when it pits. 

There’s definitely a learning curve, and the tires are heavier than most people think. He’ll need to step up his workout routine if he wants to keep up with the other mechanics. On top of the sore arms he’ll surely have tomorrow, his feet are killing him after hardly sitting down since disembarking the plane. 

At one point, he takes off his shoes and walks around in just his Ferrari-issued socks, the floor feeling blessedly cool on his aching feet. However, he soon has to put his shoes back on or risk injury, which is when he discovers that he should never take off his shoes again because putting them back on is its own hell.

When he gets to the hotel room that night, he hardly says a word to Alé, who is indeed his roommate, instead collapsing face-first onto the bed, still fully clothed. He doesn’t remember closing his eyes, and he’s not aware of anything until the alarm goes off the next morning. That, of course, is when the real fun begins.

A fic wherein Medic is feeling guilty as hell about his... well, everything. He goes to make a pot of coffee, late at night, to distract from it. Instead he is interrupted by Spy, who talks to him about it.

Oh also looooots of intrusive thoughts is also partially the subject of this.

Medic & Spy

It happened over dinnertime, after the last battle of the week. Medic found himself deep inside his own head as he tried to eat. Conversations happened around him, which he did try to pay attention to, but didn't have the energy to add any comments.

That was until Scout started complaining about how many times he died that day.

"It's just fricken' ridiculous that almost everything kills me so fast! I respawned, like, fifteen times today! If I could be constantly pocketed like some people maybe I wouldn't have that problem!"

"Have you considered getting good?" Soldier shouted, "You're a mobility class, dammit! Dodging and paying attention to your surroundings is what's really important, for you. As you would say, it's your whole deal!"

"Yeah you're one to talk, rocket jumping 'cross half the damn battlements, only to get shot with your own rockets.

"It's an occupational hazard!" He punctuated the sentence with a hearty fist to the table. "And one that I must congratulate the enemy Pyro for creating."

"Ugh, whatever. But when Respawn doesn't carry my ass anymore, you're all gonna be sorry you don't have this lean, mean, murderin' machine."

He snapped out of his thoughts when he realized that there wasn't food left on his plate. Instead, he had spent the last several seconds poking at it with his fork. "I believe I am going to bed now, goodnight everyone."

"Aww don't be like that, Demo ain't even got the good stuff out yet!"

"He, last I checked, has gone out for the night. I believe it's to hang out with Merasmus and the other Soldier." He rose from his chair and walked over to the sink, where he deposited his plate. It wasn't his night to take care of dishes in the base, luckily.

When he got to his room, he locked the door. The thing that Scout said echoed through his head "When Respawn doesn't carry my ass anymore". What if, one day, Respawn actually did stop working? What if it happened right now, or sometime in the next week. What if he completely forgot about it, and then it broke because he got lazy with his heals?

He would have to figure out how to live with the idea of his team, his crew, his family being dead. There wouldn't be any way to save them, it's not like he has the technology for that. They would all blame him, whoever survived, anyway. It would be his fault.

Archimedes, lovely dove that he is, cooed at the sight of him hyperventilating against his door. It caught his attention, and distracted him a little. How could he be worried when his bird was right there?

He reached out a hand for him to stand on, closing his eyes and breathing as he did so. "This too shall pass," he said to himself. He repeated it to himself, and to Archimedes until the thoughts faded into obscurity.

It wouldn't matter if that happened, because it hasn't. If it ever did, he would figure it out at that time, with the help of his team. If nothing else, Archimedes would be there to listen to absurd rants.

"One of these days, I will get you a friend dove. I think I'll call them Einstein, or maybe Shelley."

He cooed in response.

"Alright, alright. Two friends. Now, I need to see about a glass of water, don't I?"

Another coo, this one affirmative.

He rose to his feet, after letting Archimedes fly to his little bath. He chuckled about it, 'all in a day's work for an emotional support bird'. It was something that the Engineer had said when he found out about his little job.

With a mug of water in hand, from his convenient water cooler, he pondered between sips. "You know, I think it's been a while since I gave you a special treat. Archimedes, would you like a strawberry?"

A curious coo, the bird tilted his head to the side.

"Oh who am I kidding, of course you'd like a strawberry. You bloodthirsty little baby, you." He plucked a large strawberry out of his mini-fridge and placed it at the bottom of the bird cage.

Archimedes acknowledged the strawberry, but went back to bathing, leaving Medic to find something to entertain himself.

He read books for a few hours, mostly short stories and things of the sort. They distracted him from the thoughts plaguing his mind, though they were still present-- albeit more in the 'background'. They escalated a little, and tore through a box of ideas until seemingly getting tired out.

The next time he looked at the clock, when his eyes physically felt tired and he was fighting off the urge to take a nap for "just five minutes", it was around two in the morning.

Sure, he could sleep at a time like this, but he didn't want to deal with the obnoxious things that come with it. Nightmares, a return of the intrusive thoughts, or simply not being able to sleep in the first place we're the most prominent. The second his head hit the pillow, he felt his tiredness would dissipate entirely.

He yawned, and rose from his desk. Rubbing his eyes, he came to a decision. It was time to make a pot of coffee, and drink half of it. He wouldn't have to worry about waking anyone up, given how heavily most everyone sleeps. Maybe once or twice he had ever noticed another teammate out of bed at an hour like this.

The rest of the base was dim, lit only by a few sconces. The cold air he inhaled carried the scent of citrus, a smell that permeated from the shared bathing area. The sound of several men snoring-- probably Soldier, Heavy, and Demo in their respective rooms-- was faint for once. Usually they were much louder in their sleep.

Their shared kitchen was relatively small, considering that 9 people were supposed to share it in a given day. For just him though, it was plenty large. The coffee maker and assorted fixings all sat in a corner of the room.

Still sure that nobody would interrogate him about why he's awake at such an hour, he pressed on. Water in there, enough grounds for 2 cups of coffee in there, and press a few buttons...

A few minutes later, the machine stopped making its ugly slurping sound to let him know that coffee was hot and ready to drink! He poured the stuff into a to-go cup that he used to think wouldn't get much use on the base. Next came adding in milk and sugar, not too much, not too little.

While he was busying himself with making the drink taste "right", he didn't hear the gentle footsteps of Spy. He felt as though something was at his back, but brushed it off as just paranoia. He was stressing about any number of things, so why wouldn't he start to believe someone would do that? He was just being silly, right?

"Docteur, je sais pas quoi tu fais ici, mais il est le subject de ridicule."

He jumped right out of his skin when he heard that. When he regained his normal pattern of breathing, he asked for a translation. "I'm sorry, what?"

Spy rolled his eyes, and turned on the kitchen light. "Why are you making coffee right now?" He said it almost like a rhetorical question, one he knew the answer to, and then some.

"I have things I'm doing."

"And? They can wait until the morning, I assure you."

"No they cannot, I am specifically avoiding anything that ensures sleep."

"Why?"

"I'm having a bad day," he snapped, "does that explain anything?"

"It does. Now comes the question, 'may I help you?'" His face was neutral, mostly unreadable. The faint softness of his expression was all he could tell.

"And why should I trust that you'll actually be helpful, and not just send me to Respawn for my troubles?"

"Do I see you wearing blue?"

He did have a point there, the two were teammates. It wasn't exactly a good idea to kill someone you're meant to fight side by side with.

At the lack of response, he tried something else. "If you want you can pat me down for weapons. You won't find anything, but if it makes you feel better..."

Thoughts flooded his mind, all of them some variation of the other crossing the room and stabbing him in the back, as he looked into his eyes. Some of the versions were worse than others, with unnecessary additions. He rubbed his eyes again, trying to clear his mind of it. "Stop, stop. Stop it" he muttered.

In a moment Spy crossed the room until there was a foot between them. He took the other's hands, and started to run circles into them with his thumbs. The sensation of the gloved hands into his own brought him back to earth.

"Breath, mon ami. Breath."

He took in some air, shakily. He should feel like he's in danger right now, so why didn't he act like it? He cracked an eye open, and saw the concern on Spy's face.

"It's okay. You're safe here, now. I am the only one here with you. There is no one else out of their room."

He stayed quiet, only trying to focus on calming himself down. This was a teammate, they'd worked together for years at this point. It really was ridiculous not to trust someone like Spy.

"I'm... sorry for scaring you. I only meant to know what you were doing, and then you seemed so tense over a pot of coffee. What happened?"

"What happened" he began, was a mix of having a bad day on the field, and then I have a brain which wishes to torture me. It's not all the time, but when I'm stressed, they have a nasty habit of showing up."

"Ah, the bad day on the field rolled into everything else?"

"I believe so, yes."

"Then losing sleep will only make that worse. Your brain needs to be allowed to rest. I can stay with you, if it helps."

It probably would help him, to have someone else in the room with him to sleep. "Yes please."

"Your room or mine, in that case?"

"I- my bed is too small for two people. Would you mind?"

"I wouldn't have offered it if I did." He stood up from his place, and grabbed the cup full of coffee. He frowned at it a little, not wanting to waste it. "This is going to sit in the fridge, for you in the morning. Understood?"

"Yes, I do."

"Fantastique. Can you get up on your own?"

"Yes, of course I can get up on my own." He rose to his feet, rubbing his eyes to get the tiredness out yet again.

"Off we go then." He walked in front, leading Medic to his room. He followed.

The room was cushy and relatively small, but that was more than made up for by the large bed inside. A lamp brought just enough illumination for him to see his way around. He heard fabric shuffling around in front, and immediately felt his face heat up.

"I don't have pajamas on right now. Do you... have any I can borrow, by chance?"

"I think I have something that would fit you. If not I can cloak and go to your room."

"Would you, please?"

"I can do that. Wait here."

In a few minutes Spy returned with a pair of sweat pants and a tank top. "Will this do?"

"Yes. Thank you." He politely pretended not to notice that the other wasn't wearing a shirt. He did look quite strong, it was very aesthetically pleasing to him.

When they finally sorted everything out, and Spy turned out the light, the two slept soundly. If Medic had to judge it, he'd say it's the best he'd slept in quite some time.

Connecting back to young justice season 3, Dick is a major sadboy 😅 shortly after watching season 3 of young justice, i started working 60-70 hour weeks (just for 1 summer) and to get through the day i would make up stories about how i thought Dicks season 4 arcs would go (this really cemented him as blorbo)

3. An irl friend was also into young justice, she got into batfam stuff, I'd never read fanfic before, and seeing her read it at first i was like "pffft i wouldn't get into that lame stuff" and lo and behold i got curious and spiraled. There's a looooot of sadboy Dick fics out there. Like. A lot. But yeah i started out as a batfam stan rather than a titans one, and in my heart i love both and theres an internal battle that wages within me

4. At the same time (or before?) i started reading fics, i also got into the comics from Young Justice. Part of the reason i like Dick is because there's literally just so much content i can read, and i started reading and rereading his solo runs and eventually branched out into titans comics. Not all his comics appearances are good, but I like having a lot of content 😅 it helps spark ideas and gives me "i can fix it" disease

5. His relationships with people!!!! A core reason of why I love the character is all the great relationships he's had across canon. He's a big brother/mentor to Tim and Damian (with Tim i love the image of infallibility Dick has, and his slow fall off the pedestal, and with Damian they start at the bottom and build things up from scratch - i love how he has to earn Damians respect by putting in the work). His relationship with Jason especially pre-reboot is a gold mind of agnst (like. Little brother dies while you're in space and your dad doesn't bother inviting you to the funeral *screams* and blames you for his death to some extent) - the way he knew Jason and they got along fine, though they didn't interact like a ton (i see it as like. Older sibling who's in college) and then one day he's just gone, then comes back and wants to kill you and is so blinded by revenge on your dead father he will destroy everything in his path is just, so much potential here. His relationship with Bruce makes me scream. I liked the few interactions he has with Cass before she got yeeted by DC. And moving outside the family, the found family aspect of the Titans i literally love so much. I cherish his friendship with Donna, I'm a big fan of platonic m/f relationships being given importance and weight, plus again the whole "i love angst" thing was on fire when she dies. I love his relationship with Roy, the way they push one another and butt heads while still deeply trusting one another + the thinly veiled sexual tension between them (i say thinly veiled because Grace literally points it out in Outsiders). His friendship with Wally is also fun, i like reading their team ups. There's so many characters that he interacts with it just sets up so many possible stories, and i love how interconnected he is in the superhero community

6. Man vs world. I like that Dick is a (mostly - everyone has flaws, and Dick does fuck up in canon) well intentioned person struggling against the injustices of the world. That's the long way of saying "i like him because he's a hero". But part of that is like - a lot of his battles narratively fall into man vs world (especially in his solos), with a bit of man vs self here and there, and i like these categories. Most of his conflict is external, and while i like some internal conflict, i get a little bit bored when characters in comics are too introspective - like some of this i don't mind, bonus points if the internal and external conflicts are aligned in a satisfactory way, but DC comics only lets characters grow so much, so introspective stuff can get repetitive imo
