“Rock The Boat” made its world premiere on BET’s Access Granted at 8pm EST. This would be the last music video Aaliyah puts her work and heart into as well as the last time Aaliyah does a special for BET Networks.

BET producer Kevin Taylor said that even though putting together the show was tough, footage of Aaliyah joking with stylists Eric Foreman and Christopher Maldonado, who were also killed in the twin-engine plane crash, made it bittersweet. “They were completely hilarious, like sitcom funny,” Taylor said. “I’ve never been around a group of people who were funnier.”

There is apparently HOURS and hours of unreleased footage of Aaliyah during those days but much of it was compiled and chopped down to a half hour mini documentary of this music video. So, what gives BET? Hype Williams? WHAT GIVES Blackground? Can we get some more rare footage? We ain't asking for ALL of it (not yet anyway).

/.\ Memories! Aaliyah’s MAC Collection Launch Party in LA. 🕊💜It was this day #17years ago that I had read on a message board that Aaliyah had passed in a plane crash. I didn’t believe it. I quickly checked MTV’s website & there with a heavy heart it was. I was 19 years old and overcome with grief not shared for any other celebrity or person I didn’t know who passed suddenly. My father came in my room and said “Aaliyah died... That’s really sad. I really liked her in Romeo Must Die.” I didn’t even know my old man had seen the movie. It just showed me that Aaliyah made a positive impression with her gift to anyone who came across her artistry. That day I had to go do a photo project for a friend. I look absolutely miserable in the photos. It felt like an out of body experience. “How could the world keep on turning , when this amazing talented angel had just left us , her family , the world so suddenly. It didn’t seem fair. I cried. I found solace in the Aaliyah fan message boards and fan sites at the time. Quinn Mallory a fan who ran a site orchestrated a vigil & for those that couldn’t make it we could light a candle at home at 6:45 pm to have a moment of silence and prayer for Aaliyah and all those that lost their lives that day. It was cathartic & I wish there was a place for Aaliyah fans to embrace each other like that again. 🙏Even 17 years later I still find it hard to listen to her music or watch her on film . It always triggers the memories of her passing, the “If onlys” & the “What could have been.” I don’t know how her brother Rashad and Diane cope . Today marks the 20th anniversary since the passing of the lovely & talented miss Aaliyah. #OnThisDay November 10, 1989 Aaliyah appears on the mega Talent Show, Star Search

Aaliyah {at the age of 10} makes her first ever national appearance on the hit show Star Search against Junior Vocalist Champion Katrina Abrams.

Aaliyah wow’s the crowd with her soft yet powerful little voice but unfortunately loses to Katrina perfect 4.0 {Aaliyah only had a score of 3.25}. Although Aaliyah’s mother was backstage ready to give her daughter full support for the loss, Aaliyah still had a smile on her face and was determined that this would not stop her and more-so reminded her that she will not always win.

Host of the show Ed McMahon said "There's a thing that you see when somebody walks out on the stage, I call it the fire… And that's what I saw with Aaliyah"

The determined little girl went on to sign to a recording label {Blackground Records} and the rest is history. Although she lost to Katrina, in the end, she became the bigger star with her “don’t give up” and “try again” attitude.

"Hacking" seems to be (lately) a continual attack within the Aaliyah community. Recently another Aaliyah fan page @ourbabygirl22 was "hacked". The original owner came out and NOT ONLY said "I was hacked.." but shared her story. Yeah it's embarrassing to confess how you fell for something, but that bit of information educates others. 🙏🏼 We all know what to watch out for but there are times where we just let our guard down. ❤️🍷 I applaud @ourforeverbabgirl22 for sharing her story. Some of this is common sense but hackers are very crafty..... ❌ NEVER click on weird links, even if that link came from an account you're familiar with. ⚠️If you weren't already expecting to receive such a link and it's just out of the blue.... it may not be wise to click on it. Their account might have been hacked. 🤷🏽‍♀️ ❌ NEVER give out personal information: this includes your phone number, etc!! ⚠️ Please see attached image. This is one of MANY ways someone can use your phone number to get access to your account. ❌ BE WEARY of those "what's your pet's name?", "What's your favorite color?" types of question/games ⚠️ because those are the same questions used to verify your account and/or change your password. ❌ Do NOT make your password something as simple as your favorite singers name. ✅ If you do receive a weird request or a link from an account you're familiar with, I personally like to ask them 1-3 questions that ONLY ME and that person know the answer to; and they have less than a minute to respond. 😒 ⚠️(This is just in case the hacker hacked my friends account and scrolls through our conversation to find the answer to my question so that I can trust them ). ✅ Yeah it can be a pain, but use Two-Step Verification if available‼️⚠️ if the person is able to get far this just adds extra roadblocks making it more difficult for them and if your account allows you to be notified when someone's logged into your account ...set that up too! #TeamAaliyah #aaliyaharmy #aaliyahsangels #aaliyah #fraud #protectyourenergy #protectyourpeace #protecryourself https://www.instagram.com/p/CW3yRD6vEp0/?utm_medium=tumblr

January: Aaliyah Fan Page Appreciation Month

JANUARY is the birth month of our baby girl, Aaliyah. 

Aaliyah’s talent and influence inspired many of us to create a fan page that even we (admins) call ‘our baby’. We put so much time and energy into our fan pages and for years we have kept our fan pages up and running in order to keep Aaliyah’s memory and legacy alive when specific sources are limited. 

From amazing facts, magazine articles, snap shots of our collections, exclusive candid photos, down to engaging content that keep us coming back for more, I just want to say thank you all for helping keep Aaliyah’s memory alive; she would have been 42 in January and still kicking a$$. 

 I want to dedicate each day in January to acknowledge my Top 31 favorite Aaliyah fan pages of all time. We need to support each other and let each other know they are great and to keep up the great work. Some of you inspire each other and we never take that moment to let each other know that. 

So I hope some of you join me in doing the same for your favorite Aaliyah hangouts as well.
