Supernatural season 1 + the first half of the major arcana (explanations below the cut)
0. The Fool: Sam
Kind of self-explanatory. Sam is the Hero at the start of his journey, knowing nothing yet. The Fool upright represents innocence, youth, and new beginnings. This is him at the end of 1.01 Pilot where he lays down in bed to see Jess burning on the ceiling.
1. The Magician: Dean
The Magician upright means that you have all the skills necessary to be successful. It's a time in your life when you have power. About other people, it can mean someone who impresses you or someone you can learn from. It also means someone crafty and intelligent, who's creative and able to utilize the resources at hand to accomplish their goals. For the Sam-centric storyline of season 1, Dean is that someone. He's a major part of pulling Sam back into hunting. I chose this scene from 1.02 for him just because I watched the episode recently and I think he's adorable here -- and in stark contrast to how he appears in later seasons.
2. The High Priestess: Jess
Upright, the High Priestess represents personal clarity and wisdom. Reversed, she represents ambiguity, a disconnect with the inner self, and secrets not yet uncovered. Jess's relationship with Sam in 1.01 Pilot is one based on only partial understanding; she doesn't know about hunting or monsters or who he is (and at this point neither does he). Her death only complicates things. Sam doesn't know why, and his journey is driven by the need to avenge her and Mary's death and to find answers.
3. The Empress: Mary
Opinions are divided on whether The Empress symbolizes femininity and sensuality or femininity and maternal energy. In some interpretations The Empress can represent the mother and The Emperor the father. The Empress upright represents fertility, in this case motherhood, and also beauty and nurturing. Upright the card encourages the querent to trust themselves and to listen to their intuition. This scene is from 1.09 Home when Mary's spirit appears to save Sam from another ghost and to apologize to him, though he doesn't yet know why.
4.
The Emperor represents authority, foundation, law and order. All things associated with the father. Reversed, he represents someone who is too controlling and inflexible, unable to see another point of view. He is purely logical and devoid of human instinct. In John's case, the boys see their father as a rigid, austere authority figure who seems to always have the answers, but at the same time is leading them on a wild goose chase, sending them on case after case as they try to find him. He's obsessed with avenging Mary's death, but he has moments where he breaks the mold, surprising the boys when he's able to be tolerant of Sam's powers, when he admits that they're right, when he "wastes" a bullet from the Colt to kill a vampire that's about to kill Sam in this scene in 1.20 Dead Man's Blood. And yet he remains predictable: Dean knows that Azazel is possessing his father in 1.22 because John wouldn't be proud of him.
5. The Heirophant: Missouri
The Heirophant upright represents spiritual wisdom in the self, and a mentor or guide in others to focus the Hero on their journey. Missouri is a tangible example to the boys that Sam's power doesn't necessarily make him evil, an idea that the Winchesters are all concerned about for more than just the first season. In 1.09 Home, she's hiding John from them at his request, surprised that even with Sam's powers as strong as they are, he couldn't sense his father there. I chose this specific scene because of the visual of the Heirophant fading from John to Missouri: John is their teacher, but Missouri has just as valuable a lesson for them to learn.
6. The Lovers: Sam and Dean
Not Wincest. If you feel strongly that it is about Wincest to you and want to engage with this edit as such, do ya thang, but it's not my intention as the creator. Rather than necessarily romantic or sexual relationships, the Lovers are about harmony, choice, and accountability. The Hero, halfway through his journey, is no longer innocent, and the consequences of his choices are his own. Reversed, the Lovers represent disharmony, dishonesty, unhealthy relationships, and an inability to find balance. In 1.16 Shadow the boys have finally found their father, but just as they escape from Meg and the Daevas, Dean realizes that John needs to stay away from them for their own safety, while Sam, even despite his issues with John, objects. The brothers are on different wavelengths here, and the camerawork in this specific scene reflects how they're experiencing the story on totally different planes.
7. The Chariot: Baby
This one is also self-explanatory. The Chariot represents forward movement, and carries the Hero on his journey. The car being a character unto itself is not only a slice of Americana but a manifestation of the unspoken main character of the show, which is the relationship between the brothers. This scene from 1.01 Pilot literally represents the start of the journey.
8. Strength: Sam
The Strength card is what it says on the label, both physical and emotional strength, and all the traits that go hand in hand: bravery, courage, facing fear of the unknown and being gentle with the self.
However, Strength has an interesting history. In old versions of the deck, Strength is represented by Heracles beating two lions into submission, from the Greek stories of his Twelve Labors. When tarot became a thing more close to what we know now in 14th century Italy, the animal and the beast were symbols of the Devil (put a pin in this part of the journey until season 4). In that time the thing to do was to beat the devil (put a pin in that until season 13), a violent display of man triumphing over nature. Later, Heracles became an unnamed female figure, and the two lions became one. Instead of man vs. nature, the card became taming the lion, acceptance of the beast and acceptance of parts of the self which are unpleasant or horrifying.
In 1.05 Bloody Mary, Sam has been keeping a secret from Dean that he saw visions of Jess's death before it happened. He uses that secret to lure out the titular monster so that she can be defeated. Though he wars with his own nature, he comes to accept it as something he can use to achieve his goals.
9. The Hermit: Azazel in the nursery
Well, he's literally hiding from them. But the Hermit also represents the Hero succumbing to parts of their life yet unconfronted along their journey. Reversed, he represents an individual isolated from the outside world, a recluse. He can also represent that the Hero isn't taking the time to self-reflect, constantly pushing but not considering the self. The Hermit can be a person but also the issue of the Hero hitting a wall and realizing their journey is far from over. Azazel is a force to be reckoned with for the first two seasons and the Winchesters all experience tunnel vision when it comes to hunting him down. In this scene in 1.21 Salvation he disappears from the nursery before Sam can shoot him, then reappears in the flames in the window seemingly to taunt them. For as much as the brothers have learned and done, there's still more left to the story.
10. Wheel of Fortune: Azazel as John
The Wheel is the perpetual motion of life. It has no agenda or intent, it just is, and while it does not literally represent death, it does represent the death of the life previously lived and the constant metamorphosis of the Hero. While it is often taken to mean a good future when upright and bad luck when reversed, the Wheel is not that simple. It forces the Hero to make choices, good or bad, and reap the consequences, much like Azazel in 1.22 Devil's Trap forces the brothers each to choose between letting him go to save their father, or killing him while he's possessing John. It's a central feature of Supernatural that when the heroes finally confront the villains, they and the audience realize that they were always going to end up here. For that reason I chose to display it as a card that exists both upright and reversed. The Wheel of Fortune, simply, is.
#spn#supernatural#spnedit#my edits#supernaturaledit#supernatural edit#spn edit#sam winchester#dean winchester#john winchester#missouri moseley#jessica moore#if you didn't read the explanation for the card choices: this isn't a wincest edit learn about tarot#if you don't care and slash or want to rb this as wincest idc live your truth#I don't know why the wheel cards don't sync up but idc I'll kms if I spend any more time hemming and hawing about this edit#lowkey ended up hating this despite learning a lot and spending so many hours on it but fuck it I'm posting it anyway

Cat and Mouse
pairing: tamaki suoh x reader
summary: when a wager is made between the twins and the chairman's son, a desperate tamaki is left scrambling for ideas on how to win. it's only when kyoya mentions the twins' best (and only) friend that tamaki feels he might actually have a chance of coming out on top. the difficult thing is trying to get you alone.
notes: takes place during 1.20 (the door the twins opened!)
word count: 1.6k
You’re not sure what to make of Tamaki Suoh upon your first encounter. You watch him carefully when he first arrives at Ouran Middle School. After all, it’s not everyday a new student starts at Ouran, let alone the son of the chairman. You come to several conclusions very quickly. He’s an airhead, always surrounded by girls, and he seems like a complete idiot, but there’s something so vulnerable about him that you can’t help but be intrigued by him. He’s harmless too, that’s something you picked up immediately. Harmless and so very earnest.
Part of you thinks that the twins are going to eat him alive.
You’re no fool, you know why he’s sought you out. The twins had told you about their wager almost as soon as it had been made and, as the only person the twins speak to who doesn’t cry afterwards, you don’t particularly blame him for seeking you out.
Not that you made it easy for him.
It’s almost fun playing cat and mouse with Suoh, but after almost a week you position yourself somewhere he’s almost guaranteed to find you. Mainly because you’d made sure that his friend, the third Ootori son, had seen you walk into that library.
“If you’re absolutely determined to get to know the two of us we should play the ‘Which One Of Us Is Hikaru?’ game. You in?”
“The rules of the game are pretty easy. You just have to pick which one of us is Hikaru. We’ll give you one month. You can guess as many times as you want in that month but we’ll ask for your reasoning so no random guessing. For the record, only one person has ever been able to get it right.”
“If that’s alright with you, then try your best.”
There is a method to Tamaki’s madness. Kyoya-assisted method, but solid method nonetheless (though maybe it's Kyoya's help that makes it solid). Tamaki knows that it would take more than a month to be able to work out which twin is which, especially since the two of them have their guard up properly now to ensure that he can’t work out who’s who. That only leaves him with slightly more underhanded methods to try and win their bet.
Whilst they said he couldn’t cheat by guessing randomly, they never mentioned that he couldn’t ask who he assumed was the only person to win the game. Getting you alone, now that was the tricky part. If you weren’t with the twins then you seemed to be fairly elusive, always at some club meeting or wherever you went in your free periods. It’s only when Kyoya mentions in passing that he spotted you walking into one of the smaller libraries that Tamaki sets their plan in motion. He’s quick to make his way there, and if he didn’t know better he’d have thought you were waiting for him.
Sat in a fairly secluded corner of the library, you barely look like you’re paying attention to whatever textbook you have in front of you. Your eyes flicker up to observe him, and in that moment you remind him so intensely of Kyoya that it almost staggers him. He does his best to send you his signature charming smile to no avail. Your expression doesn’t change as you continue to observe him. He realises you’re not going to start the conversation and so he takes it upon himself
“May I sit?” He gestures to the seat across from you.
“Of course.” He nods at you as he slides into the seat, resting his elbows on the table.
“I don’t believe we’ve met. My name is Tamaki Suoh.” When he says his name is the first time your expression shifts from neutrality to something akin to a smile but with more mirth. It does nothing to dissuade him from his mission. After seeing Kyoya’s evil expressions early in the morning, this is a walk in the park.
“I know who you are.” It’s not what he expects you to say and he blinks at you for a moment.
“You do?”
“You’re quite hard to miss. You’re the new god Ouran is worshipping.” The way you speak makes it clear you’re teasing him, and he immediately understands why the twins like you so much. A small part of his brain jumps to involving you with the plans he and Kyoya are trying to make a reality but he does his best to ground himself in reality. You watch as he starts to shift in his seat, looking like a particularly excitable puppy.
“I’m flattered. It seems my reputation precedes me.”
“Indeed.” He smiles at you for a moment before remembering why he’s here in the first place.
“I think you know why I’m here.” The amused expression on your face shifts back to something more neutral and it’s fascinating to watch as your expression almost turns steely before his eyes.
“I’m familiar, yes.” He’s about to speak his somewhat rehearsed speech but you speak again before he gets a chance to open his mouth. “I’m not going to tell you how to tell them apart.”
“That’s not what I’m here for.” His response comes quickly because it’s the truth. His words seem to take you aback slightly though, like you can’t decide whether you believe him or not.
“Then why are you here?”
“How long have the three of you been friends?” His question takes you by surprise, he can tell from the way your eyes widen slightly at him. You look at him with suspicion but answer his question.
“A few years now. Why?”
“And in that time how many people have tried to use you to get close to the twins?” It’s a risky move making such a bold accusation so early into the conversation, but Tamaki is no stranger to taking risks. He knows he’s hit a nerve when you flinch back like he hit you.
“Too many.” Your voice is soft, laced with hurt no matter how much you tried to hide it, and Tamaki immediately feels awful. He knows what it’s like to be used for your name, but to be used for your connections is foreign even to him.
“I’m sorry to hear that. I can’t imagine how that feels.” His sincerity hurts more than the question, and it leaves you feeling uneasy. You’d expected this to be a quick conversation, ending once you’d refused to divulge a way to tell the twins apart. No one’s ever stayed beyond that if they came to you with that intention and you’re not entirely sure how to proceed.
“You get used to it.” The hurt is gone from your tone, leaving only a bitterness that again reminds him of how Kyoya was when the two of them first met. The two of you would get on quite well, he thinks, and he makes a mental note to try and introduce you soon.
“You shouldn’t have to be used to that.” It’s clear that your patience is starting to run thin when you close the textbook in front of you, staring hard at him.
“Why are you here Tamaki? What do you want from me?”
“I want to understand the three of you. I think the way to win the game has nothing to do with actually being able to tell the difference between them, at least not at first. They want to be told apart, but not just on a superficial level. I need to understand them, and I think to understand them, I need to understand you.”
“And how do you plan to understand me?” You’re not angry at his comments, not from what he can tell. Suspicious, maybe, but not angry.
“I want to be your friend, if you’d let me.” You look surprised at that, and so oddly vulnerable that it makes Tamaki’s heart clench. He’s seen you around school constantly surrounded by people and he wonders how you must view your peers if not as friends. What must it be like to second guess every interaction for an ulterior motive? No wonder you’re so suspicious of him. You look less certain now, that steely look disappearing before his eyes.
“And if I say no?” He shrugs at you.
“I’ll stick around anyway.”
“Is that what happened with Ootori-San?” Tamaki smiles at you, still warm despite your sullen tone.
“Something like that.” He stands up then, pushing the chair back under the table and bowing slightly towards you. “Think about what I said, will you? And I have someone I want to introduce you to, I think the two of you will be surprised how similar you are.” And with that, he turns on his heel, leaving you alone in the library once again.
It’s only when he’s left your sight that you finally smile. Maybe he’s not as much of an airhead as you initially assumed. You were right about one thing though: he’s incredibly earnest. You quickly pack up your books, heading to the classroom that has windows looking out onto the courtyard. It’s almost time.
You watch from the window as the twins confront the latest girl to give one of them a love confession. It goes the same way they always do, with her running off crying, but this time you see Tamaki running towards them. You’re not sure how their conversation will go, but if Tamaki can surprise you, maybe he can surprise the twins too. The future’s bright for all of you, who knows what it will bring?

sorry for dropping this into your askbox but someone compared dean going off with sam to hunt (and promising lisa to come back iirc???) was treating ben the same way that john abandoned him a lot as a child. head in hands. one time ben called him and said that lisa was doing badly and dean rushed back to make sure she was okay. john never did that for dean even when he was Literally dying.
We sometimes forget there was more to John than extended absences. His neglect is undoubtably a large part of what harmed Sam and Dean growing up, but when John was around, he wasn't necessarily aloof and distant—he could actually be overbearing and paranoid. Case in point: He didn't want Sam to go to school because he was worried he wouldn't be able to protect him (we are told this as early as 1.08, and John himself admits it to Sam in a vulnerable moment in 1.20). Dean also mentions this about John in 6.02 (quoted below).
Dean is explicitly worried about turning into John in 6.02, but it's in a way where whatever he chooses (whether to stay or go), he feels like he'll reflect parts of John's negative behavior, and it leaves him feeling terrible and stuck. If he leaves, he's afraid he'll be abandoning Ben and Lisa (reflecting his father's harmful absences). If he stays, he's scared someone looking to hurt him will find Lisa and Ben, or that his own trauma and stress over the possibility of that happening will turn him into someone so paranoid about their safety that they can't have normal experiences (which is again, reflective of John).
Dean quickly realizes that he can't figure out how to relax after the djinn showing up in 6.01. He and the Bradens move, but something has shifted for Dean psychologically in the aftermath. This is kind of skirted around, but the simple fact of the matter is that Dean has PTSD, and the djinn showing up was extremely triggering for him. We know from his dialogue in 6.01 that Dean really did not feel well mentally for the first several months he was with Lisa and Ben. We also know Dean is ashamed of this (though Lisa does not resent him for it). I think Dean was scared of returning to that place and the shame and guilt he felt about his own mental health around that period, but those concerns are coupled with—again very explicitly—the fear of reflecting his own father's paranoia. In 6.02, Dean doesn't want Ben to ride his bike around the new neighborhood and doesn't want them to all go out for dinner. Dean realizes that his paranoia is a problem very quickly and has a discussion with Lisa about it and how he doesn't want to be a negative presence in their lives because of his own trauma and stress.
DEAN: I don't know what to do here, Lis. I mean, if I knew for sure what the safest thing was, then I'd do it. Stay here and look after you guys or get as far away as I possibly can, but I don't know. And I get what I've been doing lately, you know, what with the yelling and the acting like a prison guard. It's just, that's not me. You tell yourself you're not gonna be something, you know? But my dad was exactly like this. All the time. It's scaring the hell out of me.
I've talked before about how Dean is being dishonest with himself and Lisa as far as yelling at Ben, but that aside... it's here that Lisa tells Dean he should start hunting again, and come and see them when he can. It's really tragic, because Dean's options are so limited. Dean can't see a psychologist. He does not have access to the kind of healthcare he needs. He is scared that he is at least emotionally—a net negative influence on Ben's development. He can't handle staying because of that and he also doesn't want to abandon them because then what if that's worse or they get hurt because he wasn't there? So Lisa tells him to go.
LISA: Okay. Okay, but you also want to be there. I get it. You're white-knuckling it living like this. Like what you are is some bad, awful thing. But you're not. But I'm not going to have this discussion every time you leave. And this is just going to keep happening, so I need you to go. DEAN: I can't just lose you and Ben. LISA: That's not what I'm saying. DEAN: You're saying hit the road. LISA: Dean, if there's some rule that says this all has to be either/or, how about we break it? Me and Ben will be here, and you come when you can. Just come in one piece, okay? DEAN: You really think we can pull something like that off? LISA: It's worth a shot, right?
Dean's already skeptical at this point that they can make a long-distance relationship work, but they give it a shot. They break up three episodes later.
Btw Soulless Sam, in an effort to convince Dean to leave Lisa and Ben and come with him, had also suggested earlier in 6.02 that Dean staying with Lisa and Ben would turn him into John.
SAM: But moving them around? Keeping them on lockdown? I mean, you do have them on lockdown, right? How is any of that different from how we were raised? DEAN: So you're saying... I'm not shoving anybody into this life, okay? This is temporary. SAM: Dad always said it was temporary, Dean. He said it for 22 years. Look, I get it. You want to watch out for them. That's great. I'm just asking, how do you do that and not turn into Dad?
TL;DR Dean was mentally unwell and as far as "reflecting your dad's negative behaviors" was in a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" type situation with no good options, and two different people told him to leave, and his own brother (who at the time he thought he could trust) told him staying is what would turn him into his father. It's sad to see Dean wrestling with all of that reduced down to cold criticism of him for being "like John" or being a "headcase". This kind of criticism of Dean is in our faces in the show of course, but I think we're supposed to get as viewers that this criticism in the mouths of different characters (including Dean) is not always fair or remotely compassionate enough. Dean is not kind to himself. He sometimes overstates/blows things he's done out of proportion to make them sound worse because he has a very bad self-image. Lisa's own insecurities are in play when she suggests Dean wants to go back to hunting with Sam. Soulless Sam also overstates Dean's negative influence on the Braendens (who we explicitly know from 6.08 he does not care about) so that he can get Dean to come with him. It ultimately feels very cruel to frame someone overtly suffering from PTSD as if they're some kind of evil poisonous monster/the harm-doer/exactly like the eeevil dad because they left and because they stayed too long often simultaneously. It will never not rub me the wrong way how the majority of the fandom behaves about this plot line.

Hanasei, the chorus of Koegama
Height: 1.20-1.60m | Weight: 50-100kg | Hypercarnivores | Semi-aquatic
A frog-like species, Hanasei are known for their powerful vocals, using their gills for vocalization out of water and being able to mimic any sound. Their societies tend to live near riverbanks and lakeshores, constructing stilt houses with direct access to the water. Most are fishermen, but some host farms of larger animals in artificially constructed lakes and deviated river branches.
They have an affinity for water Aether, but hold a unique reproduction system of using it to create eggs, meaning they lose access to their water abilities for a few months each year and lack sexual organs. In trade, they can create from 50 to 100 eggs per reproductive season.

MY GOLDEN BLOOD – EPISODE 4 IS REALLY AN HOMAGE TO BAD BUDDY
I haven't seen anyone post about this yet, so I'm just going to dive right in… After watching Episode 4 of My Golden Blood, I'm absolutely convinced the writers were winking left, right and center at Bad Buddy. 😂
Yes, I know this sounds like more BBS brainrot talking, but there are just too many parallels in MGB Ep.4 for me to think otherwise. I also didn't notice any obvious BBS nudge-nudge wink-wink in Episodes 1 to 3, which makes the concentration of parallels in Ep.4 simply too much to be mere coincidence.
So what are these call-outs to BBS? Here are some I've found.
First of all – surprise! Guess who's your neighbor across the corridor:
(top) My Golden Blood Ep.4 [1/4] 10.28 – Tong points at Mark after discovering he’s staying across the corridor; (bottom) Bad Buddy Ep.2 [2/4] 4.56 – Pat and Pran point at each other after discovering they’re dorm neighbors (and across a passageway too)
And looming large over the drama – big jocks with scent kinks:
(top) My Golden Blood Ep.4 [3/4] 1.54 – Mark inhales the Golden Scent suffused in Tong's t-shirt; (bottom) Bad Buddy Ep.3 [3/4] 5.04 – Pat beams after inhaling some Eau de Pran in the music shop
And then there's the laundry reference punchline:
(top) My Golden Blood Ep.4 [3/4] 2.01 – Tong blames the fabric softener after Mark exposes how besotted he is with Tong's Golden Sex Pheromones; (bottom) Bad Buddy Ep.3 [3/4] 5.16 – Pat follows up his "You smell good" with a request for a bewildered Pran to do his laundry (not realizing that it's Pran's special sauce he really likes, rather than his detergent or softener)
There's the gloaty mid-game clinch, more sensual than sporty (with white bandanas as a bonus):
(top) My Golden Blood Ep.4 [2/4] 9.07 – Mark smirks as he tightly shadows Tong on the basketball court; (bottom) Bad Buddy Ep.4 [4/4] 3.44 – Pat smirks as his plan to waylay Pran with a full-body grapple on the rugby pitch pays off (explanation linked here)
There's Tong's Friendship Checklist v. Pa's Love Guru Signs:
(top) My Golden Blood Ep.4 [1/4] 8.26 – Tong's Friendship Checklist; (bottom) Bad Buddy Ep.5 [2/4] 2.17 – Pa dispenses Love Guru advice, starting with the first of her Telltale Signs
Sandwich desire as sublimation of lust for the sandwich-maker:
(top) My Golden Blood Ep.4 [1/4] 10.52 – Mark (who isn't supposed to be able to taste anything, nor even need to eat) asks a befuddled Tong for his sandwiches; (bottom) Bad Buddy Ep.5 [1/4] 2.01 – Pat unconsciously casts himself in the role of a romantic partner while munching on the sandwich he stole from Pran
University project work based on an alliance uneasily forged – with one member also secretly undercover:
(top) My Golden Blood Ep.4 [1/4] 5.03 – somehow Mark, Tonkla and Tong end up in the same group project; (bottom) Bad Buddy Ep.4 [1/4] 1.20 – the Archi and Engine gangs discuss their joint project to resurrect the bus-stop they wrecked
The Kiss that comes unexpectedly early in the series:
(top) My Golden Blood Ep.4 [4/4] 11.49 – Mark, unable to fight primal urges more powerful than he, plants a big one on Tong; (bottom) Bad Buddy Ep.5 [4/4] 12.16 – PatPran give in to their long-suppressed passions and break all BL records in the process
Domestic BL boys go supermarket shopping:
(top) My Golden Blood Ep.4 [3/4] 4.24 – Tong and Mark with their shopping cart on their way to the car; (bottom) Bad Buddy Ep.10 [3/4] 19.30 – Pran and Pat with their shopping cart on their way to the car
Ketchup-laden sausage snackery that hints of duplicity:
(top) My Golden Blood Ep.4 [3/4] 5.51 – Nakan nibbles on Tonkla’s sausage sampler, red ketchup dripping from his lips boding ominously for Tonkla’s storyline; (bottom) Bad Buddy Ep.8 [1/4] 3.24 – Pran smears ketchup on his lips with Pat’s morning wiener before going on kissy attack
"Don't bother knocking; I was already waiting for you":
(top) My Golden Blood Ep.4 [3/4] 3.15 – Mark opens his door before Tong has a chance to knock; (bottom) Bad Buddy Ep.3 [4/4] 6.44 – Pat opens his door before Pran has a chance to knock
There’s also drink-gifting across the divide:
(top) My Golden Blood Ep.4 [3/4] 3.31 – Tong offers Mark a box of his favorite tomato juice in the corridor; (bottom) Bad Buddy Ep.2 [1/4] 10.26 – Pran crosses the boundary with Oishi Vitamin C Song Roy Percent green tea
Big blasé boy invades his honey’s apartment and infringes on his personal bubble:
(top) My Golden Blood Ep.4 [1/4] 7.09 – Tong pleads with Mark for more personal space; (bottom) Bad Buddy Ep.4 [1/4] 13.21 – Pran pleads with Pat to end his apartment incursion
And even song lyrics that echo each other:
(top) My Golden Blood Ep.4 [4/4] 12.28 – a clip from Mark’s theme; (bottom) Bad Buddy Ep.8 [3/4] 10.57 – a clip from Pat’s theme
While dining in public – one gets all worked up over being noticed, while the other doesn’t care:

"We have the same taste in books!"

They also have favorite t-shirts!
(top) My Golden Blood Ep.4 [3/4] 1.10 – Tong tells Mark about his favorite Pirates t‑shirt; (bottom) Bad Buddy Ep.4 [4/4] 11.03 – Pat discovers his favorite tee
Crimson roses! (OK this one is probably just a coincidence): 🤣
(top) My Golden Blood Ep.4 [3/4] 0.58 – crimson roses on Tong’s favorite t-shirt; (bottom) Bad Buddy Ep.5 [4/4] 6.04 – a crimson rose adorns Pran’s favorite condensed milk
If there were only a few parallels, I could chalk it up to coincidence (you know BL series do like to rehash tropes). But there are so many, and I think it can't be just chance anymore.
A lot of MGB Episode 4 was about Tong trying make new friends of strangers, when he already had a greatly-familiar and amply-qualified candidate (Mark) applying for the job.
And this echoes both Bad Buddy's Thai title (แค่เพื่อนครับเพื่อน, roughly translated to "I'm just a friend, buddy") and all of its ensuing Friend/Unfriend discourse, as well as BBS Pat needing to discover that the one he was searching for was right there beside him all along.
I’m guessing the writers of My Golden Blood recognized these links to BBS, and then went on to pepper the narrative with tons of other references as well.
Clown theorizing again! I'll see myself out... 🤣

Dandy's World OC: Ticker The Clock

Bio and details below!
“Ticker’s a hardworking guy who’s always on time, with little tolerance for tardiness or schedule changes. He gets lost easily, but his time management skills are nothing to sneeze at. Ticker teaches history and how cultures lived in the past.”
Full Name: Ticker Timekeeper Other Name: Ticker the Alarm Clock Species: Alarm Clock Gender: Male (He/Him) Voice Claim: Dominic Keating (Gremlin Prescott - Epic Mickey)
Dandy Store Quote
“You can always count on Ticker to give you the time of day!”
Requirements
1200 Ichor
Complete 12 floors in under 5 minutes
Appearance
Ticker is a toon with a purple alarm clock for a head, with two golden bells on the top-hand sides of it and a golden clock hammer between them. On his face are two black clock hands that point downward to resemble a mustache.
He wears a black business suit and pants, a white undershirt, a dark purple continental tie and dark purple shoes. Unlike Geo, who’s suit is open, Ticker’s is buttoned closed.
Personality
Ticker is a diligent and hardworking travelling businessman who is quite the stickler for rules, schedules, and regulations. He takes his job very seriously (arguably, too seriously), is quite stubborn, and is easily annoyed by sudden changes.
Ticker likes to be prim, proper, and sophisticated. Similar to Teagan, he prefers to keep proper etiquette. He does tend to be bossy towards others who don’t follow his standards, but never means it in a malicious manner.
Despite his overly serious demeanor, he does tend to loosen up a bit when talking/explaining his two favorite things: History and ancient cultures. Predictably, he has an excellent sense of time and is great at time management skills.

Twisted Ticker
“This Twisted will make sure you don’t stay in one place for too long. Once you enter his detection range, the clock will tick down from 12. Get away before the clock strikes one, or you’ll be the one going down…”
Rank: Uncommon Speed: None Attention Span: None Detection Range: Below Average
Twisted Ticker is a stationary Twisted that will spawn in a random location on a floor. He disguises himself as a clock on a wall, usually randomly stationed either near a potential hiding spot or near a machine. His detection range is signified by small area of shadow in a wide, conical shape
Should a player step into his detection range, the clock will start audibly and visually ticking down to 12, ticking down once every second. If the clock strikes twelve, and anyone is in his detection range, he will come out of the clock and attack them. The clock’s countdown resets once the player(s) leave the detection range. After Twisted Ticker manages to attack someone, or after 30 seconds of not attacking anyone, the clock will teleport to a new location.
Twisted Ticker does need a line of sight however, so if you manage to hide behind an object when he appears, he won’t be able to attack you.
Twisted Research Trinket: Pocket Watch Trinket Category: Other Increases the Panic Mode timer by 5 seconds
Trivia
Ticker can always tell what time it is no matter where he is or when it is.
Ticker was inspired by Time Man from Mega Man Powered Up

Dandy's World OC: Dr. Frankie the Flask
Bio and details in description!
“Frankie is a Toon of science! Always coming up with inventions to help others (or for fun!). While they’re rather kooky and don’t always think things through, they teach children the value of creativity and curiosity.”
Full Name: Dr. Frankie the Flask
Species: Flask
Gender: Androgyne (She/Her, He/Him, and They/Them)
Family: Shotson (Brother)
Voice Claim: Dan Povenmire (Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz; Phineas & Ferb)
Dandy Store Quote
“Frankie’s a little kooky, but they’re a Toon of science for good reason!”
Requirements
2500 Ichor
Get 300 “Great!” Skill Checks when extraction
Complete 3 Mastery Quests on Shotson
Appearance
Frankie is a toon with a flask for a head, filled with the same colored liquid as their brother Shotson. They wear a pair of goggles that cover their eyes, the goggles have opaque white lenses with black swirls on them.
Frankie wears a white lab coat similar to Shotson that reaches the same length (knee-length). But unlike his coat, Frankie’s coat sleeves are rolled up at the elbows and are almost completely closed except for the bottom part. They also wear a pair of black below-elbow length gloves.
Personality
Frankie is…quite eccentric and kooky. He is a creative and curious kind of intelligent genius with a passion for science and making inventions that can help others with their problems (or, sometimes, just “for funsies”). Aside from all that, Frankie usually has an energetic, carefree, and silly demeanor.
However, Frankie is a mad scientist for a reason. Despite their intelligence, they tend to be quite careless and impulsive and don’t always have the best foresight for the potential effects their inventions or actions can cause. There are times where they say things that make others uncomfortable (such as the “99.99% safe” line., despite not intending to make them feel that way.
Stats
Rank: Rare Health: ♥️♥️♥️ Skill Check: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (Size 250/Value 3) Movement Speed: ⭐⭐⭐ (Walk 15/Sprint 25) Stamina: ⭐ (100) Stealth: ⭐⭐ (5) Extraction Speed: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (1.20)

“It’s working! It’s working!” “For science!” “Eureka!”
Descending to the next floor
“What could possibly go wrong?!” “Trust me! It’s 99.99% safe!” “I may have miscalculated a bit…”
Activating Twisted Be-Gone-Inator!
“Behold! The Twisted Be-Gone-Inator!” “Stay back! I am a Toon of science!” “Time to test my newest invention!”
Twisted Frankie
"Doing well on skill checks is a necessity to survive this Twisted..For they have sabotaged the machines to produce a debilitating shock should you fail. If you do fumble with the machine, leave it as soon as possible, they’ve got a keen sense for mechanical failures… ”
Rank: Rare
Speed: Above Average (19)
Attention Span: Above Average (3)
Detection Range: Below Average
Twisted Frankie is a roaming Twisted that, upon a player failing a Skill Check, will run to the source of the failed skill check from anywhere on the floor, similar to Twisted Vee. Twisted Frankie has also sabotaged the machines, indicated by a black box with a green electric symbol on it strapped to the side of the machines, which sparks green electricity every few seconds.
Upon failing a skill check, the player will be shocked with electricity. This does not hurt the Player, but it does inflict them with Slow I and Tired II debuffs for 7 seconds.
Twisted Research Trinket: Plasma Lamp
Trinket Category: Stamina
Restores 35 stamina upon completing a successful skill check
Trivia
Frankie’s name is based on Dr. Frankenstein from the titular novel “Frankenstein” by Mary Shelly.
According to one of her elevator dialogues, the reason she names her inventions with “-Inator 3000” is for “branding reasons”, and mentions she plans to sell her inventions once they’re safe enough and able to be mass produced.
Despite being referred to as “goggles”, they function as glasses, as Frankie is practically blind without them.

Got nothing better to do today so I'm prepping to make some mead! The goal was to go as far as I could with the cheapest, simplest materials and buy as little of the professional stuff as possible to start with. I did make some concessions, but still planning not to buy something until the step where I need it.
Bought at step 1:
Hydrometer. This was the biggest concession, but the one that I saw the most warnings about not having. If I don't measure sugar content at the start, I won't ever be able to know the final ABV or tell when it's done fermenting. $8 for this, which I won't have to buy again.
Yeast nutrient. Another concession, but necessary to make sure fermentation happens right. Also comes in a package I can use for a lot of batches, for $6 total.
1 gallon of spring water. I didn't have any gallon jugs already and I'm not about to drop unnecessary money on glass carboy jars. Also takes away the chance of chlorine in the tap water killing the yeast. $1.30 for a gallon.
Yeast - Fleischmann's Fast Acting. There are specific wine and champagne yeasts but this brand is usually listed right alongside them on a lot of sites. Maybe in the future I'll try some of the suggested fancy brewing yeasts. For now a three-pack of Fleischmann's is $1.20.
Balloons. Airlocks are necessary to allow gas to escape while also preventing contaminants from entering the brew. I could get 3 airlocks for about $10, but that'll be something I save for a later batch when I don't have to buy another hydrometer. For now a balloon with a couple pinholes in it will do the job. A pack of 25 balloons was $1.
Honey. This, of course, is the most necessary part but also the most expensive single item. Most recipes I see call for 2-3 pounds of honey. I picked up 2.5 pounds for $15.
Total cost at time point 1: About $33 to start my first gallon brewing. Everything except the honey and the water will make multiple batches.

There are more things I foresee needing to buy for this first batch, like a siphon, chemicals to stop fermentation so I can backsweeten or add flavors, and bottles/corks for the eventual finished alcohol. However, that's all at least a month or two (and a paycheck or two) away, and I got nothing but time when it comes to this hobby!

Dead Man’s Blood
-Dean offers to drive to ny so that Sam can see Sarah (the art dealer) again and Sam shuts that shit down right away. Dean only encourages Sam to have Dean-sanctioned relationships and sex. Dean’s Freudian nonsense is that he likes to pressure Sam into being involved with women, be certain that he’s the reason Sam is doing it, and then convince himself it’s good for Sam. I don’t think there’s anything malicious in this pattern, I think Dean is just operating at a high level of cognitive dissonance and avoids question his own motivations and feelings.
-Dean manhandles Sam away from John, de-escalating, then things escalate again and Sam and John grab at each other and it looks like they’re going to fight so Dean changes tactics. He forces them apart and puts himself physically in front of Sam, telling John to back off. First he tries to get Sam away, then he stands in front of him to protect him and waits until John walks away.

And now seems like a good time to talk about the fact that John was probably violent when they were kids. They don’t seem particularly scared of him, and they seem all to genuinely love each other and be able to find moments of ease and humor, so it was probably more a violence born of dysfunction than systematic abuse. There’s enough evidence for this that it’s safe to assume. For example, John says “I stopped being your father and I became your drill sergeant,” and he’s a vet, so he probably means that pretty literally and that in itself is a brutal way to treat children. In season 6, when Dean is explicitly trying not be become his father but falling more and more into re-enacting John’s behaviors, he slaps Ben across the face to try getting him out of shock. In s7 teenage Sam says that his dad has a temper and you wouldn’t want to see him after he’s been drinking. And then of course there’s this scene.
Neither Sam nor John see Dean’s diffusion of the situation as unusual. He’s done it before. Dean’s primary order is to look after Sammy. So I can’t really see him letting John get escalated with Sam, especially with how comfortable Sam is with Dean protecting him.
As codependent as Dean is with John, it seems like Sam is the subject on which he challenges him. He doesn’t have to break from his role as John’s surrogate co-parent and partner or as Sam’s (everything, but first and foremost) protector to do this, so it’s not really even him breaking rank. Dean follows John’s orders because he wants to keep Sam safe in the first place, so it makes perfect sense that this is normal for him. His motivations revolve around Sam.
-Sam, pacing, waiting for Dean to return from the morgue: “it shouldn’t be taking this long, I should go help.” Sam worrying about Dean part 497.
-John uses the vampire’s mate as a hostage because they mate for life. Immediately after this, a vampire uses Sam as a hostage to make Dean back off. It takes one to know one.
-When John kills the vampire Sam stumbles into Dean, who catches him. Dean holds onto Sam until the vampire dies, which takes a moment. Maybe even after that.

-John tells the boys they disobeyed a direct order and Sam says yes sir and Dean says “but we saved your ass.”
Sam can’t believe Dean said that. He looks afraid of what John will do.

Dean showed Sam that he can stand up to their dad too, and not just when it comes to de-escalating situations where Sam is involved- he stands up for himself.
This is important because it’s Dean breaking away from John and coming into his own. Sam has come to understand and even appreciate Dean’s obedience to John, but he still couldn’t choose to be with Dean rather than living a normal life when Dean was following John without question. Now Sam can believe in Dean’s ability to break the pattern Sam couldn’t live with. They’re a team.

prev post + my tags; it really does get me how it goes from 1.20 john's impala reference ("i wouldn't have given you the damn thing if i thought you were going to ruin it.") -> 2.01 sam's impala reference ("if there's one working part that's enough. we're not just gonna give up on...") -> 2.02 dean taking a crowbar to the trunk (-> 2.03 dean punching sam). like not only did dean basically perceivably inherent sam's autonomy‚ the impala and a role as patriarch but it's also insanely implicative of how john's role is able to redefine the familial dynamic. like john's usage of sam as an extension of himself in a similar way he usually does with dean while dean is incapacitated in 2.01 does foil his having dean's autonomy in his hands while the question of sam enacting upon his own autonomy was a sore spot for their relationship for the entirety of the season and while sam does continue to squirm under john's patriarchal eye, especially after he had overcome certain specifics of john's grief-related hunter ideals in 1.22 ("no, sir. not before everything,") and basically reset to his perception of them pre-jessica's death, it quickly flips the moment dean is ressurected and the idealised winchester familial dynamic is restored. john returns to using dean as an extension of himself while sam is actively excluded, excluded from the family and his own autonomy
#the isms of john's patriarchal role of course continue to be found in dean's within his and sam's relationship#like sam is both treated an an extension of dean while also being excluded from his own autonomy#referat#2.01

Something fun for you to ponder. When Sam was soulless, Bobby thought there was a chance that, "This is just Sam." I think it's because Sam tends to perform empathy somewhat selectively, at times more cognitively than emotionally. Do I personally think it's a neurodivergent trait? Yes, I do. BUT. It's hilarious to me that Bobby looked at soulless Sam and thought, "Hmm. There's a good chance that's just Sam." No?
Ho ho! Very interesting.
From 6.06 "You Can't Handle the Truth":
DEAN I don't know how much longer I can do this, Bobby. You got to figure out what the hell he is and fast. BOBBY I'm trying. But, Dean, there's a worst-case scenario. DEAN What, Satan's my co-pilot? Yeah, I know. BOBBY Well, that'd be the other worst case. DEAN Well, then what? BOBBY Maybe it's just Sam
Notably: This happens before anyone knows Sam is soulless and before Sam has admitted that he doesn't feel anything, but after Sam has let Dean get attacked and turned by a vampire.
I don't think that Bobby disagrees with Dean that Sam is acting different from before (I think that's why he calls it a worst case scenario). Sam has been putting everybody on edge, not just Dean (Samuel says that Sam scares him in 6.07). I think what Bobby is considering is that Sam simply isn't the same person after The Cage—that Sam compartmentalized his emotions to deal with the trauma—turned himself into a stone cold killing machine as a coping tool—and now Sam doesn't know how to warm back up to feeling anymore or caring about anyone or anything (or maybe can't because it's still too raw). Bobby's considering the idea that Sam may have simply cracked open and spilled his emotions out on the floor somewhere and left them behind... which ironically, is pretty much what happened?
Bobby is aware of similar (though less extreme) behavior from Sam in the past in coping with trauma. In fact, he arguably knows this side of Sam better than Dean does. Sam ghosted Bobby while Dean was in hell (and for months in 3.11 "Mystery Spot", though Bobby doesn't remember that). It wasn't that Sam stopped feeling (he was full of anguish and rage), but he did push Bobby away and focus obsessively on revenge, hunting like a machine. Sam pushed away the potential to talk through Dean's death with someone else who loved Dean and understood a lot of the grief Sam was feeling because it opened him up to a dangerous amount of vulnerability.
This is very John-coded behavior from Sam and it doesn't represent a lack of emotion as much as it represents "I feel so much that I cannot stand the idea of touching that emotion or I will break". It's a refusal to engage with and feel certain emotions, because if he did, he wouldn't be able to get up. Anger is fuel that burns hot and keeps you moving, but grief and fear can rip the life from you.
Consider even John's way of dealing with the worry he perpetually felt about Sam. Yelling and telling Sam never to come back when Sam wanted to go to school, making the fight all about betrayal and responsibility when deep down the entire time, John was just scared that Sam would get hurt (1.08, 1.20). Griping at Sam as a kid for wanting to play soccer (1.08), but without Sam's knowledge, quietly placing Sam's soccer trophy in a storage unit because John couldn't bear to throw it away even though there was no room for it on the road (3.03). John buried certain representations of affection and love because they were fraught with so much terror. Being open about how much he cared exposed him to feeling so much fear he couldn't cope with it, and John feels emotions incredibly deeply like Dean does. When the crying starts he cannot stop. It isn't macho bullshit—it isn't "I'm a man so this is unacceptable"—it's "If I feel this emotion right now at this exact moment then I will shatter into a million pieces".
Sam does the same thing when Dean is dead. Bobby represents vulnerability, family, and love—talking about how much Dean meant to both of them. The rage is easier. Being a hunting machine in 3.11 is easier. Focusing on murdering demon and training to kill Lilith is easier.
When the people Dean loves are in pain, Dean talks to them—he tells them how much he cares about them. He lets himself be vulnerable with it. Sam wants something to do and he needs to take charge. We see this is in 5.07 after Bobby reveals that he's having suicidal thoughts. Dean is distraught, and Sam is too (we see how much Bobby's opinion of him matters to Sam in 5.01)—but Sam just tells Bobby he isn't going to let him sacrifice himself, then jumps into action and focuses on the mission, while Dean lingers at Bobby's side. Then at the end of the episode, Dean sits down with Bobby alone and tells him how much he loves him and needs him. I don't think Sam could have that conversation at that point in his life. I genuinely don't think he could—and not because he doesn't love Bobby, but because he can't touch the distress that would surface from a discussion like that. One could argue Sam really does the same thing in 3.10, stepping outside of Bobby's house and seeking out Jeremy inside Bobby's dream while Dean goes up the stairs and finds Bobby and again—opens himself up to vulnerable emotions and expresses how much Bobby means to him—that he sees him as a father and he can't lose him. Sam focuses on finding the guy doing all of this and skirts the emotional vulnerability.
I think this is something Bobby, then, is very familiar with from Sam, so when he takes it to an extreme, where Sam is now dealing with a traumatic experience from being in The Cage, he can easily see how Sam would suppress his emotions and focus on hunting like a machine yet again, and how that could possibly reach such an extreme that Sam would stop feeling altogether and maybe not know how to or not be able to come back from that. And you know... I've never thought of this before in this exact way, but how did Sam's soul and body get separated in The Cage? Is there anything that disproves the idea that Sam himself ripped his soul from his body to cope with Lucifer's torture?

Um hello! I heard there is a so called dreblr minecraft(?) discord server and I have been slowly inching towards the dream team fandom totally not melting at having no one to talk to about it..
Is this an open server? Is it specifically for a Minecraft world? :D
YES YES IT IS!
The Discord server is partially open. You just have to prove you aren’t a Dranti by giving the mods a social media account that has positive Dream Team/Dreblr content. Once you provide that, you’re in!
We do have a Minecraft world that’s on 1.21! It started back in July, and we always love more people, I myself joined midway through the 1.20 server, so there’s no shame in joining “late.”
But also, the Discord is Dream Team and Dreblr positive. We have different channels for headcanons, writing, liveblogging, and more! The server is alive and well, and we’re always thrilled to have new people join.
The Admins are @the-final-sif and @hiding-in-the-vault, both incredible people, who can help you out if you have more questions I may not be able to answer.
Hoping this was helpful! Here’s the link:
