Hello there! I'm glad to see proud Bleach fans like you! Seems like you appreciate and cherish the existence of every characters. But is there any Bleach character that you dislike, or just simply couldn't tolerate their action or contribution on the story? Tell us tell us!

There are a lot of characters to love! Though I think it helps to be two people, because while our faves do overlap they're not identical, so there's double the coverage. XDD

I think it's probably giving us too much credit to say that we cherish every character, but I think what's reflected in this blog (and this is mostly the deft work of my co-blogger, because she does a lot more of our reblogs/queue) is the pleasure of appreciation. If someone shares phenomenal fan art of a character who is not one of our personal blorbos, the art is still phenomenal, so that's cool to see, and the artist's love of that character is also very cool to see, so what's not to love?

Same goes for appreciation in-series, honestly. Like, my co-blogger does not like Yamamoto. (Sidebar: The Third Captain Amagai Arc was some kind of Yamamoto Image Recuperation Arc but we all know he's a war criminal and they all know he's a war criminal [and so are most of them] but and IN THIS ESSAY I WILL--) But a bunch of characters in Bleach clearly do love him, so sure, let's appreciate that. Same with Soi Fon and Oomaeda--Soi Fon does acually care about Oomaeda, and Oomaeda cares about her, so sure, let's appreciate that Oomaeda is part of this network of care.

The opposite isn't true, though, where if a character is hated in-series we also hate them. Usually that also means we love them, LOL. Aizen? Fabulous. Amazing. Top tier. Mayuri? LOVE that guy. You? You torment our favs? Gold star material! You're doing amazing, sweetie.

I PROMISE WE'RE NOT DODGING THE QUESTION HERE. Maybe these are low-hanging fruit, but here are two characters who came up first in our discussion of this ask + one caveat:

Baby Nel -- It happened that we were at Hueco Mundo in our rewatch at the same time as Ichigo was wandering around Hueco Mundo in TYBW, so there was double Baby Nel happening in our lives, and we were just like, "I can't. I can't do this in two timelines at once. IT'S TOO MUCH." The vocal affectation... I can't. XD

That filler guy who accompanied Ichigo and Rukia to the Grand Fisher showdown in the anime -- Why was he there? What did he add? He was there for no reason, and the only thing he added was another guy to animate, in order to ultimately make everything worse. He is the embodied version of a censorship block, because I guess otherwise the scene would be... too sad? Too scary? People talk a lot about how much more IchiRuki the anime is than the manga but boy, this guy was third-wheeling so hard it's a miracle we all survived!

The caveat being, while our disinterest in these two things (or the amount of these two things happening in a given timeframe) is genuine, sometimes we're just as ungenerous about our faves.

I'll confess I did say during our Winter War rewatch that I wished my blorbo Hitsugaya "would simply die" because he and Hiyori were being extremely annoying for multiple extended scenes and Lisa was just LETTING THEM. So take that as you will. 😂

[ ISSUE 2 ] [ LOLA CEP ]

And were backkkkk !!! If you haven't heard of this absolute fashion icon or the movie, Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen, go straight to disney plus and watch it ! Its cheesy, and I didn't know what to expect on my first watch but its quickly become one of my comfort movies and I watch it ALL THE TIMEE. And I mean that. SOOO without further a due, lets get into the analysis of Mary Elizabeth Cep (or better known as Lola Steppe)'s style :)

Lola is definitely unique, and her style isn't really for the more casual so even if you wouldn't wear any of these iconic fits in their entirety, these are great examples of places to borrow little pieces and add them to your every day to spice it up a little !

I should mention that this is the section where I normally do a bit of intro about the person whose style we're analyzing, but since this is a movie character, their personality is very accessible in the film/show they are in since it's self-contained anddd there is only enough background info that is necessary to the plot ! okayyy let's get started

Lola's style is eccentric, as is her personality, and her outfits follow my favorite formula which is whatever she thinks looks good. The writer of the film states that she is a Pisces, and every outfit shows depth and thought put into it and exemplifies good style knowledge that is essential to making good outfits (psst. need 2 know more abt that ? I have a post coming out ;)

Let's looks at some key details of Lola's outfits !

Accessories! One of the most important parts of these fits is the accessories ! Lola is a sucker for a good hat (as am I) and my favorite type of hat right now is the baker boy/newsboy hat we see here. The grommets make it even better (one of my personal fav details rn) She wears other types of hats too though, including baseball caps, beanies, and scarves tied around her head. Accessories normally make an outfit, but her use of hats, belts, outfit-appropriate necklaces, and jewelry, commonly seen in large silver hoops, and of course her signature bottlecap necklace (you can make it! see link below) totally make most of her outfits.

Layering (Jackets !!) Lola wears many types and builds of jackets in this movie, my favorites being her army green zip-up, feather-trimmed mesh duster, and don't even get me started on the amazing patchwork leather jacket ! The outfits without these layers are okay but often her jacket is a statement piece and totally makes the outfit She also employs layering in her earliest outfits, layering the fishnet top over the "I <3 NY" tee I'm sure you've already seen on Pinterest and her first day of school outfit that is topped off with a scarf-like shawl tied around her shoulders

Graphic tees/ Patterned tops Now if you hadn't seen the last image on Pinterest I'm 100% SURE you've seen this iconic photo. I love this outfit and the color story is dramatically made better by Lola's red and black simple graphic tee she wears with her green cargos that is dejavu to Freaky Friday (issue coming soon) This is the top she chooses from Stu Wolff's house nearing the end of the movie and colored metallic is so very early 2000's

Customization I absolutely LOVEE customization (issue coming soon, geez how many times have I said that now lol) and it is a big part of Lola's outfits. This handmade-looking NY Knicks jersey is to die for and I'd like to believe she made it herself, and you probably could recreate or do something inspired by with materials from the thrift ! As you can see in some of the previous photos as well she adds her own decorative flair to all of her things, like the pins on her bag in the bike pic and her customized name hat in the same image.

Dressing for the Occasion One of Lola's biggest fashions strengths, I think is dressing for the occasion/ situation she is put in. You can see this in her outfits for the "death" of her favorite band Sidarthur (not pictured, can't find for some reason), her audition for the school play (modern pygmalion), and this 80's workout fit she wore to dance practice. This makes her outfits seen on key and perfect for the event she is at, and she never seems out of place, just more dressed than the rest

Last Call !! Makeup and Hair !

Lola's hair is Lindsay Lohan's natural orangey-red, but more blonde on top making it seem a bit sun-bleached (doesn't make much sense in context but still very pretty). She doesn't do many hairstyles in this movie, instead opting for hats when there is detail missing on the top of her outfit. This being said her hair is down for 99% of the movie, which means it's in loose spiral curls (Let's be honest nobody's hair does that naturally) so a blowout is probably necessary.

Her makeup is veryy minimal, but you can tell she is wearing some. To me, her character seems like someone who would experiment a lot with her makeup looks, but if anything it lets the outfits shine even more. I would guess she is wearing nude or pinkish eyeshadow, maybe a bit of brown to darken right under her eyes and where eyeliner goes on top of the eye. I also see a pinkish blush (choose what's right for your skin and undertones :) and most likely mascara with black eyeliner on both waterlines. Highlight could be added to make the look more modern but make sure it's light !

Lola's character is very outgoing and I think we could all learn from her a bit. She wears all of her outfits with confidence, isn't afraid of what others think, and believes in herself and her abilities. She is eccentric, sure, but very fashionable and isn't afraid of failure. She always gives it her all and I think that is very admirable.

Graphic tees :) simple and cute, stick to 2-3 colors for maximum wear potential

Personalize your shit ! buttons, patchs, pins, custom jerseys and tees are perf

Dress for the occasion ! Play audition = dress like the time period the play was written, Athletics ? 80's workout inspired ! Death ? PAINT IT BLACK (respectfully ofc)

Hair is not that important, as it is in loose curls and down in 99% of the movie, and the color is also not too crucial but the original Lola's was sunbleached orangey red

makeup is minimal, neutral eyeshadow, mascara, pinky blush, and black eyeliner in the waterlines, maybe highlight to modernize it but LIGHT !

~10 Characters from 10 Fandoms Tag~

Oooh fun! Thank you so much for the tag @lydzisanerd​​ This list is in no particular order. Also just want to add that this was very difficult to do because I can’t just pick one favorite from each (anime) fandom. 😢 

1. Ukai Keishin - Haikyuu!!

Started off my HQ! journey crushing on Daichi (and I still do, he shares a first place with Ukai tbh), but my feelings for him randomly hits HARD when I see him rage drives back to school to get Kageyama in his little yellow car. 

He’s so hardworking: running the store, farming, coaching the team, AND spends his free time coming up with strategies instead of passing out? Sure he may be grumpy at times (which I find hilarious), but I don’t blame him. Seeing all the little proud smiles, cheering and glances at his baby crows when they learn something new just gets my heart fluttering. Very husband material ✅  

Like his protective dad reflex is on point ^

2. Touta Matsuda - Death Note

He’s a cinnamon roll who just wants to do something correctly for once! Honestly, everyone in Death Note has their own dark side, and having him on screen is such a treat. 

I sympathize with him, I know how it feels to think that you are incompetent when you compare yourself to others, especially if you are the youngest person, and when you fear incompetence, some moves you do can end up poorly if it was done out of frustration instead of logic. But that doesn’t stop him, he keeps trying and I look up to him for that (though it gave L a big headache lol). He also just wants someone to love him 😭  Must protect.

3. Sokka - Avatar the Last Airbender

Another funny character that I love very much! It’s been a while since I’ve seen this show, so forgive me if I got somethings wrong. 

He’s not a bender, but that does not stop him from continuing to grow stronger, as he later picks up sword fighting and so on. Like Matsuda, he teaches me that it is ok to feel not so great when you accidentally compare yourself to others (because his sister is freaking strong), but you should use that feeling to encourage yourself to grow in your own way; and that it is ok if your attempts are a fail sometimes.

He’s also hella cute and he actually makes me laugh.

4. Iruka Umino - Naruto

Another husband material character. Stable, kind and loving, he’s passionate about what he does and he cares about his students. Maybe I just have a thing for older responsible characters who takes care of children, who knows 🤷🏻‍♀️

And he’s a little adorably clumsy sometimes.

5. Levi Ackerman - Attack on Titans

He’s a popular character, so I’m not surprised that I ended up liking him a lot too, and I totally understand why. I’m not usually into stoic and violent characters, but after reading about his past and seeing the little gestures of protectiveness and care he does to his comrades and close friends, I respect him. Also a dad, but like, a tough love kind of dad lol.

His fights are always so badass, he moves like the wind!!

6. Hanataro Yamada - Bleach

Someone...please protect him. I love his character so much, and I know he’s usually there for comic relief, but I can’t help but smile every time he does. Another character who struggles with feeling weak and incompetent, but this boy is trying his best. He’s willing to step up to protect the ones he love even if he KNOWS he’s going to lose and is very scared. I respect that a lot, and I just want to give him the warmest hug.

Also, something about his relatively tired face and soft voice that juxtaposes his “high level” of energy and enthusiasm is hilarious to me. He’ll pull all nighters to heal his friends when they need him, he’s just someone you can rely on.

Look at him goo!! 😂 

7. Seijuro Shin - Eyeshield 21

I honestly don’t know why he was my favorite from the series, I don’t really remember much about the manga tbh, since it’s been well over 10+ years since I’ve read it/seen the anime. But I remember gasping when I see him on the cover of the issue and I was staring at it for a while. One could say he was one of my earlier manga crushes?

But I recall him being a little awkward and his unawareness of his strength is hilarious.

8. F. F. - Jojo’s Bizzare Adventure, Stone Ocean

A hilarious simple minded character, or should I say Plankton, hahah! There’s so many characters in JJBA, but I just think F.F.'s (poor) attempt at being a human is funny, They also remind me to drink water every time they make an appearance, so that’s an added benefit.

9. Jean-Jacques Leroy - Yuri On Ice

Ok ok, this character gets a lot of dislikes, and the reason why I like him is deeper than the fact that he is a ridiculously attractive talented Canadian ice skater okaayy? Hear me out. 

There are many times when I would cringe and get second hand embarrassment at some of the things he’s done, but he’s not really trying to hurt anyone. This man is trying to chase his dream, and prove his self-worthiness to his family and the people who supports him. And he’s also just trying to get people to eat lunch with him, dammit.

Instead of simply bathing in the love and cheer of his supporters, his people pleaser personality backfires, and the pressure of not letting people down becomes too immense. I believe he gets to where he is because he is an example of someone who feels incompetent (once again), but is never afraid to pick himself back up and keep trying.

Unlike Yuuri (Who I also really like), he doesn’t have someone like Victor to work with him on his fears technically (I know he’s engaged, but she’s not an ice skater, so all she can do is cheer from the sidelines, instead of being on ice with him). He’s devastated but it did not stop him from picking his head back up to smile and try again.

He’s just a harmless awkward people pleaser boy who does not understand how to fit in with the others, because he grew up around his big family, and that is the only world he knows how to be a part of. I think the others were a little unfair to him when they keep ignoring him. He just makes bad jokes that happens to upset Yuri, though I’m sure that if Yuri approaches him maturely and tells him how much it bothers him, he would stop and apologize.

10. Spike Spiegel - Cowboy Bebop

Tbh I never finished the show, the story telling style is just not for me, but I might try again sometime in the future. However, I kept watching it for a while because I really enjoy Spike’s characterization. He’s so relatable, especially in parts where he’s just trying to recover from his hangovers, and his fights are very entertaining to watch. I feel a sense of authenticity in him, because he acts exactly the way he wants to, and he has no shame. Also, his playful demeanor and crazy appetite is endearing.

Can you tell us more about your fursona?

im gonna assume you mean Blank, my albino white shepherd!

Blank’s original name was Raven. i wanted a “dark” name to contrast her light appearance, like Shadow, or Shade, or Coal, or Smokey, but i went with Raven, i dont know why but i did!

i chose a white german shepherd because i was currently obsessed with Bolt, the disney movie!! its still one of my all time fav movies. 

I made her super plain white, turquoise eyes taken from the anime character Toshiro Hitsuguaya from Bleach (i always thought his eyes were the most BEAUTIFUL shade of blue EVER...)

i was also really into bandanas and camo patterns, specifically gray camo, thus ending up with THIS:

she wasn’t my main fursona then, i had a different character, but she was one of the many i had. i didnt draw her much, cause i liked complicated, fun designs, and she wasnt all that fun to draw. i mostly drew her in vent art cause it was the easiest, and she was more of a serious character (dont let that smile fool you)

When i finally up’d her to my main sona, i added a SHIT load of gear to her. this was during the era of making fun of wolf a boos and sparkledogs. they were major cringe, and i took great pride in NOT having such a colorful, blinding character. but she was STILL boring to draw, so what did i do?

GEARED HER UP BABEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i LOVE wearing hats, ofc i gave her one, including a spiked collar, and her gray bandana. wristbands, a ...bandage? i liked to wear as if i had some sort of wound, gave her an ipod arm band (including headphones), a sticker (it mightve actually been meant to be a TATTOO?) with my favorite number (11), and on her right shoulder an LOL face sticker, earrings, a chained wristband along her leg wristbands cause i played LOZ twilight princess and i liked the chain on Wofl Links leg, AND............A CHAIN...HARNESS?? oh also changed her eyes to red. cause red eyes were badass.

i almost NEVER drew her harness tho. FUCK CHAINS...

i changed my fursona again tho, to a lil fennec fox named Zenka. i made Raven more of a High school persona kinda of character, and also for vent again. i updated her designs but kept a lot of stuff on her still, i was really attached to a buncha her stuff. got rid of the chains and wrist bands and the stickers. combined her collar and bandana, made a camo printed collar, gave her a KITTY HAT i loved these types of hats back then!!! i collected the hell out of them! i gave her a pink nose, green eyes, and black faded tip tail (i played okami recently ghfdk). oh and i actually learned a bit of anatomy, so she looks more like an actual shepherd dog.

(got a tablet recently. did i mention the ones before were drawn with a mouse? its all tablet drawings from here on out)

i drew these only a few years ago for funsies, but this is a side by side comparison

i started to FINALLY become attached to Raven, but i wasnt feeling her green eyes, and i was starting to love pink. minus the black tipped tail, which i forgot (or maybe i didnt cause this was when i got the albino idea), here is when i officially started the process to permanently changing her design to what it is today. i also noticed i had a nick on my left ear, so its been an official staple of all my fursonas designs ever since.

made her a new anthro form that i ended up NEVER drawing after i made this cause i had no idea how to design clothes. disclaimer, ive NEVER smoked but i thought it was Cool(tm) back then, so id draw my sonas smoking. at least smoking rainbows didnt sound or look so deadly. OH and teh declawed design idea comes from when i started working in the job industry and bc of it i have bouts of joint and muscle pain every now and then, possibly arthritis, who can a afford a doctor and official diagnoses these days. and the effect of declawing animals shares the same symptoms, so i use it as a little hidden tid bit.

new ref in 2017, finally new official name!! took getting some used to. i had a childhood friend who was considered a bad influence/bad seed child, but i enjoyed her company, and loved the name she picked for herself Blank.

(also ditched the ink stained tail design idea, nvr used it. now its just a silver tipped tail)

QUESTIONS 

what is your special talent/skill as a roleplayer?    i always try to improve myself, my characterization and writing; i like to think i’m a writer in motion. i also kinda try my best to make even unplotted interactions interesting and to carry them on as much as i can and use the ideas i have without necessarily discussing them first, which, idk, might be good? since not everyone likes to engage in plotting, i think it’s fairly easy to interact with me even without needing to plot, at least on askin. can’t say anything about my writing because i personally believe it’s good enough, but i’m not a native speaker so what sounds good to me might as well sound terribly weird to native speakers haha. trying my best here, don’t give me that look.

what is your favorite type of roleplay genre, and why?     whatever enables development and / or exploration of character. i love when muses engage in interesting conversation that allow them to explain or otherwise challenge their own views, and confront their differences and pasts. learning more about my partner’s muse as my own muse, too, comes to learn about them - that’s nice. i also like writing intimacy and closeness, i find that cathartic.

why did you pick your muse?    i’m still wondering myself haha i swear i just don’t know how to answer this question. askin was a slow discovery, in truth; i learned more about him and the way i envisioned him as i honed my characterization. writing him allowed me to adjust to a new writing style that i felt was more suited to his character, and i ended up settling with it. then, when i came back to this blog, i definitely approached his character with different eyes - but still, he was familiar, and i already knew what made me love him. idk why i picked him the first time though lol, i just started getting ideas and i thought ‘ok let’s give it a go’.

if you could write any other muse - but know you don’t have the muse for him/her - who would it be?    sometimes i consider trying my hand at different bleach characters, like koga kuchiki, uryu, kyoraku ..... especially kyoraku. from the ac fandom, lemme say cesare.

what is one thing you think you need to work on as a partner?    i rarely message people first, unless we’re close and i got something to say. i’m pretty good at small talking irl haha but on the internet, i prefer going straight to the point. i’m also pretty detached, but that’s just how i am in general and i don’t think it’s something i gotta work on sfghjks.

what would be your warning label to other roleplayers?    i’m slow. my slowness does not mean disinterest, but i have a life and other hobbies, so :/ just be chill and we’ll definitely get along. 

what is your favorite episode/scene of your muse?     don’t wanna sound like a cishet white boy on reddit but in the manga, askin vs nimaiya is fucking epic.

what crack!ships do you have for your muse?    i’m told a crackship is a ship made of characters who never interacted in canon, so ... gotta say ginjo and lille :^)

Ahem, yes hello! I woke up this morning and felt compelled to sprinkle positivity upon you. We don't interact IC really (aside from lil crack comments here and there) but I just have to tell you that I am always admiring your blog from afar. You are truly a shining light in this fandom, despite your vulgar boi. From the fun development asks you send, to the nice comments you leave on my art, you never cease to make my day! Not only that, but you're also an incredibly writer AND artist! Wow!!!

     [ I’m???? I did not expect this!! Lainey this is so incredibly kind of you! Is this what getting positivity sprinkled on feels like? I feel more like I’m swimming in positivity here! It makes me super happy to know that you enjoy my blog, even though we don’t interact much IC. I’d totally be up for writing something together in the future though! And especially if you’re adding a human!au for Chiyo, since I always find it easier to interact in modern!aus rather than canon ( since Nnoitra always wants to kill everyone in canon… )– But of course I’m totally up for canon interactions as well! — ANYWAYS! Me??      AND— My Nnoitra? I love spending time developing him. He’s a guiding light in my life, so when people comment on my portrayal and say they think I’m doing a good job, it’s the best feeling! I’ve always loved writing him, and it’s one of those things that I can do no matter what. It’s super nice to have a place where writers-block or art-block or things like that don’t exist. Thank you so much for your kind words on my portrayal! ANDDD! It’s hella to know people enjoy the ship between Lexie’s Grimmjow and Nnoitra. I often wonder if people assume I wanted to ship with a Grimmjow because he is one of the most popular characters in Bleach. Like? He’s got a ton of fangirls lol. But honestly? Nnoitra/Grimmjow used to be on my NOTP list, and I remember ranting to a friend of mine about how I didn’t understand how anyone could ship it. WELP. Nnoitra interacted with lots of different Grimmjows before he met Lexie’s. And? They just fit together. I never would’ve imagined! But now I’m super attached to our ship, and knowing people enjoy it is so nice!

H - What is your favorite source text for fandom stuff (e.g., TV shows, movies, books, anime, Western animation, etc.)?

@whipplefilter: The media doesn’t matter so much to me. Really, I’ve found that whether it’s anime or TV movies, it’s gotta be some long-ass convoluted source material. If the storytelling is too tight I feel like there’s fewer invitations to join in. But for all that all my series are sprawling action serials, each of them fulfill different needs. Bleach is my "relatable workplace" and worldbuilding fandom!

@ippoddity: I don’t think I really care what medium the source text comes from, as long as I like it. I have had favorite books, tv shows, cartoons, etc over the years, and I don’t think I liked anything less/more because of the form it came in. Recently though, my co-blogger and I have been on a anime/manga kick (hence the recent creation of this blog). I’ve I don’t really have much more to say about this, other than if I like something, then I like it…

L - Say something genuinely nice about a character who isn’t one of your faves.

@whipplefilter: Okay, so, when rewatching Bleach, we got to the Oomaeda vs. Elephant Arrancar Guy fight and were DEAD certain it was an added filler fight. We were like, "This didn’t happen in the manga, right? There’s no way. I have no memory of this. Why did they add in an Oomaeda fight of all things?" Only to discover that Oomaeda vs. Elephant Arrancar Guy is... very much a manga-canon fight, and we had both indulged in a shared fantasy where that fight did not exist. XDD

But my genuinely nice thing to say about Oomaeda is that later on in that fight, Oomaeda genuinely cares about what happens to Soi Fon, and we see some mettle beneath all of his outward incompetence (even though he screams shrilly through the entire scene). Soi Fon seems to know him in that way, and trust in that, and I feel like it’s a moment where it becomes clear why Oomaeda remains her Vice Captain, even though they seem to have such different values and ways of being in the world.

@ippoddity: Grimmjow: Personally I’m kind of indifferent about him as a character, and don’t spend much time thinking about him. I’ve mentioned this before, but I am constantly amazed by his talented fanbase. I love reading/seeing fandom’s incarnations and characterizations of Grimmjow, and at this point I may have read more Grimmjow fic than any other character. Even though as a whole I still wouldn’t even put him anywhere near my top of favs.

V - Which character do you relate to most?

@whipplefilter: This question is hard! Because I think of all of them as being so much their own person, a person who is not me.

But Orihime bringing an entire but bare loaf of bread to lunch is very relatable. In high school would sometimes just bring like, a pile of naan for lunch. I think her feelings of inadequacy and not being cool or interesting enough to compete with Rukia was super relatable, though at 15 I didn't have the self-awareness to be able to admit/take responsibility for my jealousy the way she does. Orihime is and has always been a much better person than I am.

In real life I am very Type A (in ways that are not reflected in the way I treat this blog), so I find a lot of Hitsugaya’s general orientation to things relatable. And like him, I am also fairly amenable to wallflowering it up in the midst of other people’s parties, more observing than participating. (He acts annoyed by this, but it’s not like he couldn’t just… leave the room, lol. He has an entire captain’s quarters he could disappear to if he really wanted to. And if that’s too far, 10th has at least two separate rooms that we’ve seen him and Matsumoto use. There are options!) I also relate generically to anyone who’s had to sit through (stand through) a Captain’s meeting.

A few weeks ago I had a Fancy Diplomatic Dinner to attend and the whole time I related hardcore to Rukia attending Kuchiki family functions. I was this tiny girl who’d somehow already managed to get a mystery stain on my white shirt conversing with a bunch of Men in Suits and I did not know what to do with the sheer number of cups involved and even though I was committed to being on my absolute politest behavior I’m pretty sure I spent a good half the evening willing myself not to say things like "haha, the Meiji Restoration sure did a number on all THAT!" or "I think what the US and Japan really have in common is their legacies of imperialism and colonialism!"

@ippoddity: I thought about this for a very long time, and it honestly started giving me a crisis of self. There are many many characters in Bleach that I love (whether it be because I admire some quality of theirs or because I’m enamored by their way of being super messed up), but in terms of being relatable?? (who am I to assume that these perfect characters have anything in common with me, a deeply flawed human)

In any case, I came to the conclusion that it might be Hisagi?? I tend to be someone that likes to come across as highly competent, because I am a people pleaser, and maybe there is some aspect of me that is also screaming “notice me senpai!” (take this blog, for example) I also have trouble setting boundaries, and often volunteer to do Too Many Things™ just because someone asked me to. Of course, this is something I’m trying to work on, because I don’t think it’s necessarily a good trait. Unlike Hisagi though, I do not possess the type of self-assured confidence that it takes to have a catch phrase like “It’s not easy being a talented man.”
