Oh my god. Okay. Technology rant incoming.
So I sell beds. I get deals on stuff like mattresses and adjustable bases. The adjustable vibrates which helps me fall asleep and tips the head and feet up for comfort. I got us a Tempurpedic Ergo Smart Base for the new king size bed. I have an eight year old Ergo Premier that’s in the guest room now and has never had any problems. It is far and away better than the current model we just got.
The new one has a bunch of features like monitoring your sleeping and we’re told to pitch the app that comes with it. Now my beef is we tell customers that they can use their phone as the remote if they want. But the only way to do that is to get the app and agree to let Tempurpedic have all your data, much of which relate to medical conditions? Hated that.
But then I started snoring. And one of the features that’s only on the app is an automatic response to snoring. It’ll vibrate you to have you turn over or elevate the bed more. For my beloved wife I wanted to activate the snore response. So I joined the fucking app. It requires your height and weight. I told it I was seven feet tall and weighed one pound cause fuck their data.
Then I set up the app. It requires an internet connection. Because I don’t want that fucker beaconing my data that I was forced to sign up for I tethered my phone and had it connect to that. Once setup was done I disconnected it.
It ceases to function without WiFi. A basic thing that is programmed in the base itself will not activate without WiFi. I’m fuming. Tried to hook it up to actual WiFi and this fucking thing won’t connect to the non-hotspot WiFi at all. Their help page just talks about getting a better router.
Livid doesn’t come close to covering my feelings about this shit. I’m emailing support but I am gonna fully stop recommending their product on this basis.

Upgrade Your Sleep with a New Mattress
If you’re finding yourself waking up sore or restless, it may be time to upgrade your sleep with a new mattress. Over time, even the best mattresses lose their support, become lumpy, and start sagging, leading to discomfort that can affect your quality of sleep. While you might be tempted to add a mattress topper to solve the issue, it’s often a temporary fix. A topper can provide some softness, but it can’t address the deeper problems of a worn-out mattress. When your mattress is past its prime, no amount of padding can replace the support and comfort a new mattress offers.
A new mattress is a true game-changer, offering the long-term support and comfort your body needs for a restful night’s sleep. It’s important to remember that toppers can only mask the underlying issues—like sagging or lack of support—but a good mattress fixes those issues at the core. For instance, a high-quality mattress will align your spine, reduce pressure on your joints, and help you maintain a comfortable sleep position. This results in better sleep, less discomfort, and a noticeable improvement in how you feel during the day. Investing in a new mattress is a smarter, healthier choice that will make a difference every night.
If your mattress is causing you to toss and turn, it’s not just an inconvenience—it’s a sign that it’s time to make a change. Toppers, especially memory foam ones, may trap heat and shift around during the night, disrupting your sleep. Additionally, they don’t last as long as a new mattress and fail to address the real support issues. By upgrading to a mattress that’s tailored to your needs, whether it’s for cooling, comfort, or targeted support, you’re investing in better sleep. The right mattress will not only improve your sleep quality but also ensure you wake up feeling refreshed and ready to take on the day.

“penelope was spartan!! she’d have short hair for odysseus when he returned so she would seem more masculine to appeal to odysseus more!!”
*loud incorrect buzzer*
(headcanon) once odysseus arrived in troy, penelope received a message from him telling her to not cut her hair and to keep it long. he basically says in the letter that she should just trust him, he’ll be more than fine when he gets home and she has long hair. in the same letter, odysseus mentions how he’ll be “sharing a tent” with diomedes. penelope, having met diomedes, immediately makes the connection that
diomedes has long hair.
yeah, she realizes that odysseus will be just fine with her having long hair when he returns. just fine.

Decided to watch "Who is Luigi Mangione" on MAX, despite my reluctance given the fact that I believe in "innocent until proven guilty", and it was one of the most irresponsible pieces of propaganda I've ever seen. The whole thing was clearly an attempt to carry water for the prosecution. They had people go on and on about what a "good man" Brian Thompson was and all the good he could do in life. They very briefly touched on the fact that he was being investigated for insider trading and that UHC had the highest denial rate among "health" insurance companies, before going back to talking about how wonderful he and his family were. They didn't mention once that when he became CEO his actions shot up the number of denial claims, to the point that the company went from making $12 billion dollars in profit to $16 billion in four years. A small amount of time was spent on people discussing the harms of the "health" insurance industry, but it amounted to maybe two minutes of the 42 minute episode. They acted like killing Brian Thompson was completely irrational and that he was a mere scapegoat, instead of what he actually was, which was one of the biggest examples of corporate greed in the "health" insurance system in the United States.
When it comes to Luigi, they not only portrayed him as unequivocally guilty(though they had a couple of people throw in the word "alleged" with heavy sarcasm), but they also did their best to portray him as mentally unstable, calling him a narcissist. The show also didn't bother to question the evidence, such as the backpack that was supposedly left in Central Park full of monopoly money, but also happened to be with Luigi when he was arrested?? Or the different jacket?
They also didn't mention how fucked up it is that so much media and governmental attention was paid to this one murder simply because the guy was rich and powerful. People are shot dead in the streets all the time in this country. But because it was a rich, white CEO, everyone has fallen all over themselves to bring attention to it.
It was disgusting, and clearly only got created in a ploy to influence potential jurors. It's hard, because free speech is a thing in this country, but it feels like that sort of propaganda designed to convict a possibly innocent man shouldn't be allowed.
*Sigh*
Then again, there have been plenty of jokes about it on YouTube and TikTok, and lots of social media posts pointing out everything I'm saying. Still, none of those things have gotten the backing of a huge media company. Which shouldn't be astonishing, rich people like to look out for other rich people during a peasant revolt.
It's just all garbage.

The media keeps saying stuff about the gun used in the UHC CEO killing being a 3D printed ghost gun , and as someone who knows guns and 3D printing, I want to give my opinion.
The use of a ghost gun is possible. While I don’t know much about them or procuring them, I do know stuff like 80% kits are relatively easy to procure and assemble. A ghost gun is just a gun that doesn’t have a serial number. This leads me to part two.
I’ve seen a lot of articles talking about a lot of ghost guns using 3D printed parts, if not being 3D printed entirely. This is, in the majority of cases, not true. There have been some designs capable of firing bullets that were 3D printed, but it’s rare and very hard to design. 3D printing is essentially just laying down layers of a melted plastic on top of each other and using that heat to connect the separate layers. This leads to several issues with trying to design a firearm made entirely of 3D printed plastic, primarily heat and pressure.
When a bullet fires, part of what applies force to the projectile is extremely hot gasses. The standard 3D print material, PLA, has a melting point of 175 degrees Celsius, which is (probably) much lower than those gasses. That gas also creates pressure which wants to take the path of least resistance, namely through the now softened thermoplastics.
This doesn’t even get into the issue you would have with reliably getting the weapon to cycle and feed ammunition, and from everything I’ve heard/seen, the Adjustor used a semi automatic handgun.
My point is this: don’t listen to the “it was a 3D printed ghost gun” bullshit. It’s fear mongering. In addition, it allows them ignore the issue of gun control in this country. If people are able to just make guns, then that is a completely separate issue.
Edit: It has since come to my attention that it potentially used 3D printed parts, though I haven’t found which ones exactly, presumably ones that would have the least amounts of stress. My point still stands, by calling it a “3D printed ghost gun,” they make it seem like it was entirely 3D printed, which is not the case. The alleged weapon shown in pictures uses components that look like a Glock slide and barrel, as well as magazine.
