so i literally cant get the thought of my head of this sort of au where brozone from trolls 3 get integrated into the plot of trolls 2 because i like the plot of trolls 2 and i think barb and brozone should exist in the same movie. so like heres brozone if they went to the different genre tribes after they went solo

clay- classical (doesn't play anything himself, does admin work for trollzart)

floyd- country (the sadness really spoke to him but the townies dont trust him because hes got pop vocals)

bruce- funk (still lives on vacay island and runs his restaurant, it's just that funk trolls frequently come to his place because the vacay islanders arent involved in troll stuff most of the time)

john dory- rock (glamrock to be specific- joins queen barb on a mission to reunite his brothers once and for all)

It starts with coffee on the Rayburn House’s third floor common kitchenette.

More specifically, with the brand new ‘Coffee Tap’ that someone’s magically found the budget for. It had just been installed – the admin email announcing its operational status is still at the top of your inbox – and you’re just here to gawk at the new spectacle.

It is what it says on the tin – a tap, a faucet really – that sprouts out of the granite countertop and promises ‘barista-style brews on tap’. A wireless tablet with the menu sits innocently next to it, and you can’t see where the coffee grinder, the milk jar, or even where the rest of the machinery is.

As you approach it with great distrust, you find that Bucky Barnes is already there, staring at it with so much weariness, like it’s about to explode in his face.

“This feels wrong,” he says, eyeing the drink in his cup with suspicion.

You glance side sideways as you place your up under the faucet head and make the safest selection – a whole milk latte. The thing doesn’t splutter to life like every other coffee machine that you’ve used before, but you suppose, somehow, somewhere, it’s making your order as liquid begins appearing in your mug. “You mean the machine or the concept?”

“The whole thing,” he replies. “Coffee’s supposed to be earned. Ground, at the very least. Not summoned like beer from a keg.”

You hum in agreement. “My suite still has a Nespresso. Derek’s minimum standard for caffeine is a pod.”

Bucky lifts his cup, sniffs it, and grimaces. “Smells like battery acid.”

You grin, putting your cup to your lips. “And isn’t that the point?”

Objectively, the taste isn’t terrible but seeing (or not seeing) how it’s made does not inspire much confidence in its quality. At the very least, it needs some sugar.

The both of you must have had the same idea, and your hands both reach for sugar packets at the same time. Your fingers brush – just briefly – over his flesh hand. It’s nothing, a proximity-based mishap.

But it catches.

You both pause, and then, just as you start to pull back, he says, light and easy, “careful. Keep that up and people might start thinking we get along.”

The smile he gives you is crooked, harmless on the surface. But his voice dips slightly at the end, like the idea isn’t entirely a joke.

You say nothing and tuck a sugar packet into your palm and step back. “See you at the hearing,” you mutter, beating your retreat before either of you could make it any worse than it is.

Trolls Headcannons

(BROZONE Edition)

[Hi yes. Welcome to another fixation.]

•The brothers got out of the troll tree BEFORE it got caged in by the Bergens. They only heard about the outer trolls being hunted, but never thought it would make it to the main settlement. All of them believed that Branch and Grandma were still alive.

•The brothers knew of other genres of music, even dabbling into a few of them. JD and Clay enjoyed techno and funk. Bruce enjoyed classical. Floyd enjoyed rock. No one really fancied country music.

John Dory

°JD felt like the group had to be perfect and loved due to their parents. Their parents (before they got "chosen" or before leaving after the last kid was born) had a wish-wash way of parenting, only giving positive attention when the boys did something of merit.

°JD acted more like a parent than a brother, assigning roles he felt fit his brothers in order to give them a better foothold in their life and career in the group. He blamed himself if they didn't seem to succeed.

° JD hasn't truly showered in like 10 years. Man is a "water's clean" kind of guy, and was promptly held down by his brothers for a cleaning. Rhonda helped by essentially being a pressure washer.

°JD found Rhonda as a baby pill bug and didn't expect her to get so big. He felt a little bad decorating her once she was big enough to house him, fearing that he was hurting her.

Bruce

°Bruce let go of his ripped image because of Brandi's cooking. This man fell in love with her food THEN her. He felt at ease with her, especially since she didn't know Brozone.

°Bruce grew his hair out for his little girl to play with since her brothers won't. He lets her put little braids and clips in from time to time, and he wears them proudly.

Clay

°Clay tried to go back for Branch during the escape, but got caught in a wave of escaping trolls. After seeing the collapsed tunnels, he believed that his family got out safely even though he never truly knew for nearly 20 years.

°Clay made it to other Troll settlements and became a CPA after leaving Brozone and before he attempted to go back.

°Clay bonded with Viva over the loss of family due to the split™. He would share all these stories about Branch and she would try to do the same for Poppy, even though she was barely a year old when they got separated.

°Clay's little admin hut actually is bigger on the inside. He dug out a little living space underneath to hold his bed, desk, and a small kitchenette. Its like his own little bunker.

Floyd

°Floyd did a self-discovery journey through the other genres. He hung around the rock and country trolls the longest due to them being more land-based tribes, even though country trolls don't particularly like visitors.

°Floyd made a name for himself in the indie scene, eventually making his way to Mount Rageous where he had a new contract in the works. He had hoped this small push would bring his family back.

°Floyd suffers from muscle spasms and PTSD after his time in the bottle. Branch was kind enough to help develop a wheelchair and other mobility aids for him to use in the jungle gym called Pop Village.

°Floyd experiences fatigue easier. One of the brothers is always ready to be a pillow or a helping hand when he needs to rest. Poppy goes to him when she wants to know what else the village can do for others like him.

Branch

°Branch's muted color is due to his many years in the gray. He still feels the effects of the fight™ and grandma's capture, and personally blames himself from time to time. He leans on Poppy and his brothers who assure him that things are okay. No one really knows if he'll fully get back to his bright blue.

°Branch kept an item from each brother, even if they don't know it. They're buried somewhere in storage. He only wears Floyd's vest cause he missed him the most and held no animosity to him.

°Branch knows exactly how to deal with his nephews and niece when their energy gets too high because of Poppy. Sometimes, he'll ask her to help since she already teaches the younger trolls in the village.

It's so funny how Cap just COINCIDENTALLY seems to be physically unable to go through a SINGLE Republican presidency without having a crisis of faith that causes him to not be Cap anymore. Nomad with Nixon. USAgent with Reagan. Death and Buckycap with Bush, then HydraCap with Trump. I like to think him dying was the universe's way of identifying "...well he doesn't seem to be changing yet. Better balance this out real quick"

This is true, and moreover this ask dovetails nicely with another Cappost I've been thinking about making. Given the sliding timeline, who should we assume was in charge of the Secret Empire?

Loose, possibly at-least-partially misremembered background for those who weren't aware of this batshit plot point- In the early seventies, concurrent with Watergate, Captain America shut down a scheme by a neofascist group called the Secret Empire to, I dunno, hold the country hostage with a mutant-powered nuke or something, the specifics aren't important, what's important is that Cap cornered the leader of the group in the Oval Office, where he killed himself to avoid capture, and you never get to see the guy's face but it was all but directly stated that the Leader was Richard Nixon attempting a Coup D'état (possibly to get out of being prosecuted for Watergate?). This shakes Cap up pretty badly and he temporarily retired the Cap identity in order to operate as Nomad, The Man Without A Country, it was a whole crisis of conscience situation. Anyway, the whole situation is still vaguely implicitly canon, they refer to the Secret Empire, and there have been successor heroes who've taken up the Nomad identity after Cap got out of the funk. But It also can't have been Nixon who killed himself in front of Cap due to the sliding time scale- the rule of thumb for Marvel is that it's generally only been about 15-20 years at most since the Fantastic Four did their thing, which does hilarious things to the worldbuilding. My understanding is that you're supposed to assume that if the president is depicted in a marvel story you need to just mentally "swap in whoever would have been president 10-15 years before the present day, but given the specificity of this situation that quickly gets insane. Did Bush kill himself in front of Captain America to escape the consequences of the 2008 recession? Did Obama?! Was it just not a president at all at this point- in which case, why did Cap react badly enough to quit and become Nomad? And so on, and so forth. They basically gotta memory hole it, but I will not let them forget! Cap saw a U.S. President off themselves! But to tie this back to Civilwarposting- what I think about a lot is that from a worldbuilding perspective the actual political moment that generated Civil War is perpetually in flux. This is true of every Marvel comic but it's especially notable here because of the extent to which the comic itself is emphasizing the political moment and what created it. It's a Bush-era comic, a reaction to the politics and the rhetoric of the War on Terror and the post-9/11 years, Bush actually personally appears in it. But if it hasn't already, eventually it's going to have implicitly been pushed through Congress during the Obama Administration, and then during the Trump Admin, and then during the Biden Admin, and so on and so forth, and like. setting aside that there's already an entire swath of the marvel timeline that's very blatantly trump-admin-coded, produced in reaction to that atmosphere, The situations and arguments and rhetoric and battle lines that would have gotten that bill through each of those admins looks very different each time! And I'm not gonna say it's interesting to see how they'll resolve this, because they won't resolve it, they don't need to, they're politely asking everyone to let this one go and that's not the biggest ask these comics make of me, so fine. Whatever. But it's very very funny

I failed to go to work today. Like, completely planned to, set the alarm, have no reason not to go. Woke up and just decided I could not be arsed. Which is pretty dumb considering I only have this week and then I'm on holidays for three weeks straight. And I have lots of ducks to line up. But fuck me I continue to really just not want to do my job. Mostly because I can't, like my career is tanked in a lot of ways.

But also I am wondering if I'm just in a funk because I don't know how to do a three week holiday. Or maybe this is just hormones. Or maybe whatever. Still managed to spend two hours this morning just sending emails like that's what I do admin, and complain and play politics. It's the worst.

(Please note: When I say 'bad grammar' I don't mean it as in you struggle. It's when someone is writing and they simply DO NOT care about their writing. I can tell when someone is writing and trying their best and WANTS to improve, than someone who simply does not care.)

People also who have no patience with replies both IC and OOC are a deal breaker for me. I am slow to reply, I work, I am disabled, I have other hobbies. Sometimes it takes me a LONG time to get around to chatting and threads. I have a VERY low social battery.

muse preference ( fluff, angst, smut ) — Fluff and angst-- yes. But please note, if I'm in a funk, angst might be put on hold depending my mood. And for smut-- I really prefer we get to know each other.
