Hello Fitzsimmons fans!

Do you feel like you had a great theory about something that would happen with FS and it never panned out? Did you really like a plot that AoS began, but never resolved fully (on screen or off)? Do you just have a headcanon that you love that wasn’t dismissed by the show, but hasn’t been explored either?

                         Then this “Spacetime” challenge is for you!

How it Works:

Create a fanwork (of any kind: fic, gifset, meta, etc. ) involving an old theory/abandoned plot/headcanon for Fitzsimmons

This is not a challenge for predicting the future, but rather to explore the past and things you were excited about

The challenge begins now and lasts until 11:59pm PST on July 28th

On July 31st, a masterpost of all works created for this challenge will be posted

This challenge is an important part of Engineering vs. Biochem AND Fitzsimmons Flashback, but you do not need to be a participant of those to participate in this; it’s a non-exclusive challenge

The tag for this event is #engineering vs biochem! (Note the lack of a period in the [vs] in the tag!) Please use this tags to post your works, talk about the event, etc.

We also recommend you tag #thefitzsimmonsnetwork when posting works that you’d like reblogged by the network.

The team tags are #team engineering and #team biochem, but those tags aren’t required in the first 5 tags! If you don’t fit it in the top 5, please do include it as the 6th so that your leaders can reblog your works correctly.

The spreadsheet covers how points are earned for fanworks you create during the course of this event.

While it doesn’t touch on it as much, there will be plenty of opportunities to earn points by voting, and participating in hosted activities that will not be fanwork based. (And some are listed there!)

There will be plenty of activities and challenges during the hiatus to keep you busy and inspired to create things. Some challenges won’t be EvB exclusive, but you will earn bonus points for just participating in those, on top of the points you’d earn for the fanworks created.

The team with the most points at the end of the event will be the winner!

It is possible to individually win as well —there will be categories for top point earners (overall and from each team).

|| Spreadsheets:

You should have all received an invitation to your team spreadsheet. This is extremely important and will be used to track your points during the entire event, so please make sure you have checked out everything on it and understand how to input the information.

Here are the Team Biochem and Team Engineering spreadsheets

Sheet 1: This is where YOU keep track of your points. Each number corresponds to a different week, and each letter corresponds to a different challenge (check out Sheet 3 on a breakdown of the weeks). 

Every time you create a fanwork, please record the points into the sheet immediately. It will be easiest to keep up that way. 

In certain situations, like challenges, you will not be able to record your points. Never fear—we will record them for you once the challenge is over and your points have been determined

Everything is set to a formula, so all you have to do is enter your total, and the numbers will update themselves :) 

The horizontal sums will indicate YOUR personal score total, and the vertical sums let you know how your team is doing each week. 

Sheet 2: This is where you will put you fanwork links for verification. 

Each cell is clipped, so just put in your links (to each fanwork or supporting post) separated by commas. 

This is so that we can check to make sure points are being calculated accurately and also clear up any issues, if you’re unsure of how many points you’ve earned!

Sheet 3: This page just is a organization page to help you! It contains reminders of what column corresponds to what! This page will be updated by the mods and team leaders consistently to add organizational information to help you navigate everything that is going on.

Hello EvB participants!

We bring you the moment you’ve all been waiting for... the unveiling of the team rosters! Under the cut below you will find the line up for Team Engineering and Team Biochem.

I tried to take into account your preferences, but unfortunately balancing the teams came above all. Luckily, we are blessed with a friendly, welcoming fandom so both teams should be a lot of fun!

The challenge is running a little differently this year, so that’s why there’s not a separate team post for each. That will come late once things start officially. 

Tomorrow, votes for each team leader will go up. After you’ve selected your team leader and I’ve gotten to plan with them (I’ll be working very closely with each team leader this year), Engineering vs. Biochem will officially launch on July 10th.                    ~*~ENGINEERING VS. BIOCHEM~*~

What is this?

Engineering vs. Biochem is a unique umbrella event for all the activities that will be happening at @thefitzsimmonsnetwork​ over the hiatus, as well as a way to promote the creation of fanworks. All participants will:

be split into 2 teams: engineering or biochem

earn points for every Fitzsimmons fanwork they create based on a scaled point system

have the opportunity to earn points for participating in TFSN events (many of which will not necessitate creating fanworks)

get to be part of the fun and awesome FS community and make new friends!

Important Information:

Sign ups begin NOW until June 24th, midnight PST

The team rosters will be announced on June 28th

Before beginning, you will first vote for your team leaders, which will end on July 5th

Giving us a few days to confer with the team leaders about how the event will run... EvB will officially begin on July 10th! You will receive the official point system, links to your team spreadsheets, team chats, etc. on this day

This event will officially end a month or so before hiatus ends: winning team and top point earners will be announced before the show comes back and for both teams will receive gifts from the network

There will be other events hosted by TFSN during the hiatus, like exchanges, challenges, etc.—most will NOT be exclusive to this event, but you will earn extra points for participating

We will host Engineering vs. Biochem exclusive events like contests, chats and vote offs to earn points for non-fanworks

Team Engineering and Team Biochem! 

In order to be able to kick off EvB, we need you to select a Team Captain! 

Although the challenge hasn’t officially started yet, this is a critical part of EvB. Your leader will be your main squeeze throughout the hiatus events, posting challenge reminders and updates, organizational and motivational posts. 

Because their role is so important, we would like as much participation as possible for this event, so we will be awarding you points for this!

Team leadership will work differently than last year: 

Each team will have ONE Team Captain who will work closely and directly with @fitzsimmonsy​ (TFSN mod) to coordinate events, make sure things run smoothly, etc. 

There will be a Team Lieutenant, who will be the help and back up the Team Captain needs

Hello all!

We bring two important pieces of information about EvB.

Sign ups for EvB have technically closed, but we have an uneven amount of people at the moment. So, we will be allowing more sign ups until latest of 9am PST on June 28th, as we work to balance the teams. However, because the purpose of this is to balance the teams, we reserve the right to cut off sign ups once they have been balanced. (If you sign up and it’s been officially closed, you will be added to the waitlist for the event.)

If you have already signed up, you should have received an email confirming your registration. Please reach out to us asap if you haven’t received it. In your confirmation, you should have also seen that we are asking for you to confirm your email. This is simply so that you can be added to the team spreadsheet, which will be hosted on google drive, so that you can keep track of your points. Please confirm your email for us!

Hello EvB participants!

There have been some questions about fanwork/point deadlines, so I thought I would clarify them in a formal post.

Submitting points/fanworks:

For regular weekly fanworks, you have until the following SATURDAY, midnight PST to input all your points and fanworks

For example, for Week 1 (July 10-16), you have until the end of July 22nd to complete all your inputting; for Week 2 (July 17-23), you have until the end of July 29th, and so on

Fanwork Friday falls into the above category, as works for it are considered part of your weekly ones

For challenges, you have a week after the challenge closes to input all your points

As usual, if you feel you have a work that doesn’t fit into a specific point category outlined in the point document, then reach out and I will award you a customized amount points for your work

Checking points:

If you do not follow the above directions, when I go to check the points I will not be able to consider everything

I have my own spreadsheet with my checked totals (which will be the final say at the end of the hiatus to determine winners), so if you add fanworks after I’ve checked you will need to let me know or I won’t count the points. 

I will be going through Week 1 point totals when it closes out this weekend to review your points. If you have calculated anything wrong, I will correct the point totals. For the first week, I will indicate where you made errors so that you will be able to fix it going forward. After that, it will be up to you to reach out if your points have been changed and you don’t know why.

I just wanted to post a general PSA about the “Meet and Greet” Event this weekend in order to update you on on a few things.

The queue on TFSN this weekend will be ENTIRELY devoted to this event (with the exception of a few activity reminders)! 

If you don’t want to see this, please blacklist #evb meet and greet.

POINTS:

While you won’t receive points for submitting information about yourself, you will get 2 points for every personalized reply you make on someone’s post! 

A personalized reply means that you are responding to something specific in someone’s introduction post!, not a simply “Hi, nice to meet you!” reply

Please track and record these points yourself on COLUMN B of your team spreadsheets. I just added this in, so it will be easier for you to separate those out from regular fanworks.

Hello all!

I’m finally here to explain what’s going on with the network given the inconsistency in activity lately on my part. Before I begin, I’d like to reiterate how sorry I am for things not getting updated as promised the past few months. It was absolutely not my intention, and I feel awful about how it all worked out.

I’m very sorry. But, I’ve thought long and hard about how to manage everything TFSN related, and I’ve come up with a plan. So, please read on to see updates and the timeline of what’s next.

Engineering vs. Biochem

I’ve decided to end EvB on October 31st. I know that means that the last week will be a half week. I’m sorry—I think this is the best decision given how far behind I am and how close the AoS S5 premiere is.

During this time, I will be going back and awarding the random bonus points as promised and updating anything related to challenges. I will update the spreadsheet to reflect this. I will also be reviewing your points once the contest closes in order to get everyone their prizes. 

(I know there have been some contestations of points, and I will definitely be looking into all of those issues to make sure that nobody received any more or less than they should have.)

I know that closing early will likely be disappointing news for many of you, especially given the lack of challenges this time around, and I’m really sorry about that. However, the challenges that I planned for EvB will be used going forward in TFSN, I promise. Speaking of TFSN...

The Network 

While I caught up on the queue recently, there seems to have been some kind of malfunction where all the posts I scheduled got moved to October of next year?? I don’t know what the issue is, but I am getting that figured out.

Apart from figuring out the queue issue, TFSN will be on a defacto hiatus (like it’s been the past few months) until the end of October. This gives me the time to update the page, catch up on members, and plan out all activities going forward (aka the challenges from EvB and other things). I will be posting things during this hiatus that I missed (like birthday posts and the like - I’m sorry about that!).

Spacing it out this way allows me to get the network back and running the way it should be without burning myself out, so I can make sure that this doesn’t happen again. 

At the end of October/beginning of November, TFSN will not only come back with it’s regularly scheduled programming, but with sign ups for SECRET SANTA! So, hopefully that will make up for the recent mess.

In any case, this should put TFSN on a schedule of being fully functional and active by the time of the Season 5 premiere, so that we can all have a great time when our favorite show comes back.

I hope all of this makes sense. Once again, I’m very sorry about how things worked out, but this is the best way I can think to salvage the situation and make sure that things get back on track as soon as possible.

WELCOME TO TEAM ENGINEERING’S FIRST TEAM EVENT! what better way to kick it off than by celebrating the birth of our favorite unappreciated genius, leopold james fitz, who will be turning 30 on august 19th. we’d like him to get everything he’s ever dreamed of, one wish for every year of his life, and that’s where you come in.

over the weekend we took submissions for fitz wishes, any and everything you thought past, present, or future fitz would wish for on his birthday. these have been added to a list on a new tab on the team spreadsheet, found here. to participate, all you have to do is:

go to the team spreadsheet

choose a wish from the list

add it with your name/url to the column on the left near the date you wish to post

if you have a wish in mind and it's not in the list, feel free to add it

once you’ve chosen your wish, you can use it as a prompt to create anything you like, be it a fic, gifset, fanart, etc. however, please keep in mind the requirements set out by EvB. by nature, all of these works should be fitz-centric, but we do want to be mindful of what counts, points-wise.

with 30 wishes as the goal, and more than 30 team members, we realize that the ratio of wishes to team members isn’t even, and that’s perfectly okay. team members aren’t limited to only one wish, and wishes aren’t limited to only one claimant. as noted above, if you have a wish that isn’t on the list, just add it. it may be just the inspiration someone needs to spark their creativity. consider the wishes a starting off point, and just have fun with it. we only ask that you keep it to one wish per day when picking posting dates. if we do end up having more than 30 entries, there can be double postings, but no more than two posts per day.

starting on his birthday, august 19th, participants will post their work on their chosen day, with the goal of having at least one wish posted every day for the next 30 days, and ending on september 18th, because who doesn’t love month long birthday celebrations?

Hello TFSN followers and EVB participants!

This is to announce that there will be a tiny break in the queue and in challenges. I’ve been dealing with a concussion for the past week, and while I have been trying to not let it affect the activities and functioning on the network, unfortunately I am limited to a small amount of computer time a day (before I start feeling incredibly ill), and I need to split that small time between IRL duties and TFSN ones.

Because of this, I am almost done putting together everything for the next challenge and wrapping up the Spacetime Challenge and the July Fanwork Fridays. So, please give me another day or two to finish putting everything together. Wraps ups should be posted Friday (and the queue will resume then!) and new challenge and member welcomes should be posted this weekend. Hopefully it will get done earlier, but this is worst case scenarios given how I have been feeling.

TFSN will be reinstating biweekly Sleepover Saturday chats over the hiatus. While anyone is welcome to participate, these chat will focus more on providing a space for both EvB teams to come together and talk amongst each other. The first one will of the hiatus will come back this Saturday, July 29. Details to come.
