I could be like ‘hey, do you remember in 13x05, yep the episode before Cas comes back, that Sam tried to cheer up Dean by offering to take him to a strip club called the clamdiver because it had good reviews. And Dean was like what’s up with you man, my boyfriend died, again, I’m not in the mood for clams’. And you’d be like, wait, did that actually happen or did I read that in fanfic. And that’s the show.

there I am driving down a road, all to myself, and Steppenwolf's "It's Never Too Late" starts playing so I'm like "oh I guess we're going to have destiel feelings for the next 4 minutes and 3 seconds" and so I'm thinking of this post about the 13x05 ending and imagining the whole scene and then up ahead I see the front silhouette of an approaching car. and I say "no." but yes, it is. a vintage black Impala. likely the same one I nearly backed into at the car show. what are these signs from the universe indicating for my day ahead, I am concerned

What's crazy about s13e4 The Big Empty is that it's so aptly named because even tho my dearly beloved Castiel is resurrected at the end of the episode which should and normally does fill me with overwhelming joy, knowing Jack's whole story but even just seeing this snippet of it play out (and seeing more of Sam and Dean's grief + the shifter grief counselor storyline) absolutely guts me and making me feel (you guessed it) empty.... Jack volunteering to go with Dean to investigate because he wants to win Dean over so badly even after Dean has literally told him he wants to kill him is so insanely gut wrenching and fucked up

I should be celebrating right now, I'm one full episode away from tombstone but now I actually also have to sit through Dean being perfectly okay killing himself maybe 10 minutes after he makes himself a pb+j for breakfast which is conveniently one of the only foods that also happens to be associated with Castiel who Dean happens to think is dead

Something in Advanced Thanatology that will always make me cry a little:

The little boy dies, his soul trapped in the Veil. He's s sort of "saved" in the end together with the other souls but...

(souls that can also be used as a weapon like in s11 where they "harvested' them in the asylum to manufacture the bomb)

his mother is left to grieve alone, at least we're spared the pathetic show of consolation. Lives have been destroyed nonetheless and the mother will never know her kid is at peace (not sure if that's any consolation but I think it's a bit better than keeping on living knowing your child was horrendously murdered... by who? Was she told? We don't know).

Dean wants to die and so he dies but Billie says he must live because he's got work to do. And Dean goes on living but he thinks he needs a win or life stops making sense to hin.

And it's so fucking brutal.

That kid could just die because apparently he didn't have "work to do". Dean does so he lives. But he can do so because he's just a tool, a cog (a special cog is still just a cog) in the multiverse that must do his part or else. Another weapon to be deployed, like the soul-bomb in s11 (poor souls).

Then we have Cas who comes back and he's like: there must be a reason as to why I'm back, I'm a soldier so the reason is war. There has to be a purpose otherwise why have I been brought back?

Nooooooo! Everytime I want to scream at the screen because there is no purpose, no win, no work to do! You can just be, just because! There's still value in that, in fact there's ALL the value in that!

You're not as important as your purpose or the work you must do, you're important because you're you and there are people loving you and caring for you just because you're you!

But I'm left to my insanity alone, just like the mother at the end of the episode. She would've loved having her son back, no purpose, no work, no need for a win. Just her son back.

I love that episode so much to the point that I hate it. Same goes for Cas and Dean's final scene in 15x18, although in that case I hate that scene so much I love it which is ultimately the same thing.
