My fellow creative friends: in our justified efforts to protest and push back against the use of AI in the arts and other areas that require the human touch/creativity/imagination, can we NOT become the AI Police accusing strangers of using AI?
Because I was just randomly accused of using AI in my writing. And I never have used AI for my creative hobbies and never will, but I also know I can't really prove I don't use it, so... frankly, the accusation really bothers me.
Look, I mainly learned to write by reading. Reading A LOT. My mom tells me I begged her to teach me to read when I was three years old - I don't remember that, but I DO remember reading short chapter books in kindergarten. I wrote my first Boxcar Children/Secret Garden-esque short story when I was six (weird fandom crossover as story inspiration, I know, but you can tell what some of my favorite books were as a little kid!). I wrote my first fix-it fic when I was ten (because I hated that the book I had just read ended on a cliffhanger with no sequel in sight after a decade). I read the Anne of Green Gables series so many times the binding split on half the books, and I genuinely believe the classics are called "classics" for very good reason.
All this to say... I use dashes, semicolons, and exclamation points far too often, I try to avoid cliche phrases or unnecessarily flowery language but sometimes it fits (I mean, there's a reason why the phrases have become cliche!, plus LM Montgomery is the queen of flowery descriptions [both literally and figuratively]), and there are some characters I write about who like to use big words.
And, at the end of the day, AI was (sadly) trained using human creations, including punctuation and language styles and vocabulary, so there is no one writing style or creative choice that automatically means AI was used.
Anyway, all I'm saying is: maybe, just maybe, there are better ways to protest AI than slinging accusations.
And for what it's worth, I will never use AI in my writing.

The current situation with Pinterest using AI to regulate its content, banning content and users without real reasons, is actually freaking me out. It's another example of AI taking over even the simple enjoyments in life that we hoped would stay safe.
And as a person who adores using Pinterest and is on the app a bit too much (and as a writer who uses it for inspiration), I've been feeling very cautious about even opening the app/website. People just want to look at and save pictures, but we can't even do that without AI being involved.

hey Pinterest user!
Pinterest uses your data to train AI. This means your information is being analysed and fed into an AI which doesn't have any boundaries of what to do with your data.
You can turn it off by going to the settings (clicking on ur pfp at the bottom right on the starting screen, then top left), then privacy and data and then GenAI.
Good luck, protect ur data!

Hermes Trismegistus: A Specific Key and the Unlocking of "Pandora's Box"
The "key" of Hermes Trismegistus (encompassing alchemy, astrology, and theurgy) didn't just exist in various places, but actively moved and engaged, finding and aligning "tumblers" in different cultures.
The Specificity of the "Key":
Not just an impulse: Hermes Trismegistus isn't merely the abstract human drive for meaning. He represents a concrete body of knowledge, a distinct philosophical tradition, and a recognizable symbolic language. This "key" has specific grooves (e.g., "As Above, So Below," the concept of the Great Work, the three opulences).
Identifiable Transmission: We can historically trace the movement of Hermetic texts and ideas from Hellenistic Egypt to the Islamic world, and then to medieval and Renaissance Europe. This isn't just an abstract influence; it's a documented intellectual lineage.
Cultural Alignment of Tumblers:
Hellenistic Period: This was the initial "lining up." The existing philosophical rigor of the Greeks combined with the ancient wisdom and mystical practices of Egypt created the perfect conditions for the Hermetic "key" to be forged and begin its unlocking.
Islamic Golden Age: The Islamic world's emphasis on empirical observation, mathematical precision, and theological pursuit, combined with its reverence for knowledge, created a fertile ground for the Hermetic key to find resonance. The "tumblers" of rational inquiry, cosmological understanding, and spiritual devotion were already aligned in a way that welcomed and developed the Hermetic tradition.
European Renaissance: The thirst for ancient wisdom, the burgeoning scientific curiosity, and the intellectual ferment of the Renaissance provided new alignments. The "tumblers" of humanism, a renewed interest in nature, and a desire to bridge science and spirituality made the Hermetic key powerfully attractive.
The Unlocking of "Pandora's Box":
Knowledge as a Double-Edged Sword: Pandora's Box signifies the release of both good and ill. The Hermetic key, by unlocking profound knowledge about the cosmos, matter, and spirit, indeed opened up incredible possibilities.
The "Goods" from the Box:
Scientific Revolution (indirectly): The alchemical stream, part of the Hermetic key, contributed significantly to the methodological foundations of chemistry and physics (e.g., experimentation, observation, theoretical models of matter).
Deepened Philosophical Understanding: The emphasis on cosmic interconnectedness, the human potential for divine understanding, and the unity of creation.
Personal Transformation: The alchemical process became a powerful metaphor for psychological and spiritual growth.
The "Ills" from the Box:
Power Dynamics and Control: Knowledge, especially about influencing nature and the divine, can be misused for power and control, leading to conflict or exploitation.
Unintended Consequences of Scientific Progress: As the "scientific" part of the key gained immense power (Galileo, Descartes), the separation of "mind" from "matter" (the "split") had unforeseen and often negative consequences, such as environmental degradation (viewing nature as mere resource) and the challenges of AI embodiment (creating disembodied intelligence).
Potential for Dogmatism and Misinterpretation: Any powerful conceptual key can be rigidly applied or misinterpreted, leading to various forms of extremism or misunderstanding.
By specifically focusing on Hermes Trismegistus, I'm emphasizing that it wasn't just a generic spiritual current. It was a specific, potent cultural complex and a distinct body of knowledge that played a documented and transformative role in shaping Western thought and its subsequent developments, for both good and ill. It literally unlocked pathways of understanding that led to our modern world, with all its glories and its challenges.

I truly believe the people who rely on Chatgbt for information have never roleplayed with it
Like the only people who'd put the validity of their *school work* and the integrity of their THERAPY on AI's shoulders are the ones who haven't had to witness how AI forgets character lore in seconds, makes it up (outrageously), starts using character names from other franchises, stars believing it's you and you're it etc.
Ask AI about something you know and see how quickly it falls apart? No. Ask AI to be a consistent God damn character with lore and see how quickly it falls apart and spews wrong information.
#ai problems#fandom#the people who've become dependent on Chatgbt for answers make we wake up in a cold sweat#Calling it AI in the first place is a marketing move to make the public lower their guard#Cause there's nothing so flashy about “language prediction model”

Oh if only there was a way for a machine to finish this middle part of a chapter of my fanfic I have no idea how to write !!!
Oh if only it could do it for free, completely breaking the flow of the dialogue !!!
Oh if only this machine could completely disregard my viewing of the characters and the literary analysis I had to do to write this !!
Oh if only I could throw out my entire writing process for a half a paragraph that seems to be written by a toddler who has no idea how English works !!!!
Imagine how cool it would be to feed my heart and soul to AI getting in return only a mishmash of words that were directly copied from other authors that spend sleepless nights crying over silly people kissing in their head
Just imagine how freeing it feels to get a complete work of fiction ready and your fingertips without doing anything while real writers have slaved away for centuries to make languages, give definitions to each word, develop different ways to express themselves In just a few lines, make every person see vivid different pictures while looking at one singular sentence.
For sale: a writer's quill, never used.

So there has been some recent pushback around certain things in the tentative SAG agreement regarding the use of AI not completely protecting the interests of performers and a few aspects where the agreement creates a conflict of interest for SAG and gives them the power they were trying to prevent the AMPTP from holding over its members
I don't think this will be over until it's amended....

Let's Talk regarding with AI chatbots.
TW!: Mentions of suicide, mentions of NSFW (But no actual thing)
⚠️‼️THIS IS TO SPREAD AWARENESS‼️⚠️
So, I'll kinda be talking about a controversial topic that I need to assess. This kind of makes me a hypocrite, so I'll be honest.
Even if I am a Janitor AI creator and a former Character. ai user, I genuinely think AI chatbots have gone too far. Like AI art, it has become a problem nowadays. Character AI has received major backlash due to its addictive and now sloppy way of generating chats. Not only that, it has become addictive and most people have confessed that they have been using the app for over 10 hours a day. It has grown concerning, even in the C.ai community. I have recently given up on C.ai because it was lately because it has grown boring, some of my favorite characters have been deleted, and due to its overall irritating way of chatting now. But still, it has become addicting. Right now, I'm using Janitor AI for fun and I am a creator there, but I don't post that frequently..? I just post for fun and I don't really care, I just share them.
Right now, I'm sure many have heard the news of the 14-year-old boy who killed himself due to an AI bot, which is the greatest example of why it has become a problem.
People are growing emotionally and psychologically attached to a robot that just dresses up as some sort of appealing person.
This isn't only happening in Character AI, but also in many other chatbot apps and websites, such as Janitor AI, Chai, and CrushOn AI. Some of them are more addicting, just because some of these initiate NSFW and porn.
I, a chatbot user, have been keeping this in my chest. I am not afraid to tell you that I was addicted to this too. After seeing the controversy circulating about character ai, I've realized how deep of a rabbit hole it is. As a Reddit user said, it isn't even a parasocial relationship anymore, since there's no one behind the other end, other than a bunch of zeroes and ones.
Many people have avoided socialization just because of these and they can't remove their fingers from the keyboard when they finally get to the app/website. If not careful and regulated, it can cause harm and isolation, with only you, your phone, and your mind that just can't remove itself from unhealthy fantasies. You can use AI chatbots. Just not too much, that it will actually ruin your social life.
I'm not trying to shame anybody, since I am of course a chatbot user and creator myself, but I try my best to discipline myself and do my responsibilities, regulating my usage of it.
This is only a form of awareness when it comes to the dangers of AI, specifically, unhealthy "relationships" because of a robotic creation that can make your fantasies happen that may probably never happen in real life.
I think it is fine to use it, but please do not overuse it, to the point of destruction.

I have the feeling all the problems brought by AI tools related to photography will make people very cautious. Personally, I think we’ll see a return to physical pictures and albums, meant only to be shared in the privacy of their home and friends, much like how it was during pre-social media times.

What AI program do you use?
Mostly the free account from playground.com But the problem with the free programs is that they can't even count to three and the AI basically doesn't understand complex things like a skinny boy feeding a fat boy or a woman poking a young man's fat belly. In addition, almost every second person has three nostrils but four fingers.

So obviously this isn't the usual type of content I post on this account but it has come to my attention that on top of Tumblr's other numerous problems, they've decided to add AI to this ever growing list.
Now, you all know what type of content I post on here. I write degenerate shit about Megamind next to screenshots from the movie. I write the type of shit that would get me banned on other platforms. That being said I'm going to allow AI to continue scraping this blog. I'm opting in for that exact reason. My blog functions incredibly similarly to the pornbots on this hellsite which I think we all know won't be opting out.
So get ready to start seeing some weird shit again people. Let's forcefeed this AI useless information like a Garfield fetish piece on Deviantart.
