ı really hate the fact scp wiki doesnt give a damn bout some International Branches Hub! yes, there are lots of translation hub in there BUT it is not enough! I mean, yes, lots of people are learning english and reading scps from the original wiki BUT not all of people do know english very well like ı used to do! I joined to foundation via turkish hub and there are lots of scp and tale that didnt translated from turkish! and same for lots of turkish scps didnt got translated to english! like, man, ı dont want to use translator 24/7 when ı want to read a cool scp/tale made by a japanese person!

SCP object concept: book which the Foundation believes contains a lethal, communicable infohazard, but the truth is that if you learn specific facts which are contained in the book, a squad of gnomes comes and kills you, then makes it look like an accident. The gnomes possess some anomalous means of being alerted that someone has learned the proscribed facts, but are otherwise mundane in their capabilities; they're simply very sneaky.

i think a lot about the time someone uploaded a picture of their cat to the scp wiki as a joke article and the actual funniest part of the joke was how it became the most controversial thing on the wiki for a week

Metaphysician/Karpin 001 Proposal - The Stillborn City
After nearly a year of drafting and re-drafting, here is the strange odyssey of Agent Kennedy as she learns everything one could hope to learn about the Sarkic world. And then more.
Tumblr media
Originally a draft by Meta for the 3000 contest, it was never finished. Now, after a year of our collaborating, it is in a new form, almost completely rewritten and yet intended to preserve his original vision.
Tumblr media
It's about 15k words, and is one of the most ambitious things I have ever been involved in writing.

i found this weird book in my room this morning….i dont remember buying it…..every time i try to read it i get distracted and forget i have it…can someone help me identify this book?
happy halloween!! i wasnt actually planning on posting this today but i managed to finish it just before the hallows eve struck!
for anyone still wondering this is a handmade bookbind of There Is No Antimemetics Division by qntm! this is just a hardcover rebind made from a paperback i bought online so no fancy typesetting here unfortunately. BUT i am happy with the cover design at least
closeup pics and thoughts abt my process below!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i wanted to keep the covers pretty minimalistic to make the book seem more mysterious and to draw more attention to the square window i cut out of the cover boards. fun fact, that square is supposed to represent SCP-055! theres only so much i can do to represent something indescribable, but its not round, so at least i have that
Tumblr media
originally i was planning on making the text along the spine white so it would have a sort of disappearing effect against the white fabric, but it didnt really work out so i printed just the shadow of the text instead for a there-not-there look
Tumblr media Tumblr media
something i really wanted to try while making this was to paint the edges of the textblock black. i think it came out nicely! it looks neat contrasted to the white cover :p
Tumblr media Tumblr media
now the ENDPAPERS!! i had actually imagined the design for these way before anything else. i tried to go for a sort of fractal pattern of fingers like the monster from Fresh Hell. i quite like it in combination with the window on the front cover :3
okay thats all thx for coming with me on my journey ^_^

Hi light!!! I have sum questions for you cause yes
1. What has got you into writing?
2. Are you planning on writing on the scpwiki any time soon?
3. Do you have any advice for new writers?
Thanks in advance!
(Haven't read SCP-8980 yet so I'll choose this ask to answer)
honestly I can't really remember not writing. I think I've always liked stories. Finding different things to write about might have been important for keeping writing and also getting better over time without "trying" to improve on it intentionally - like, I got into writing nonfiction, longform, shortform, fanfiction, every now and then I write poetry or a song or a zine, etc, just when the interest strikes.
I have vague plans to go back to Resurrection. By that I mean "pretty specific plans but it's a big undertaking but also I have other projects for fun, plus, like, work." I would say 50% chance that happens in the next year.
So good advice is going to vary depending on who you are and what issues you run into, but to address things I see commonly among people who want to write but are uncertain with their output or uncomfortable about writing more:
The only thing you have to do to be a writer is write. All writing builds on each other so just be writing something.
Stated differently, imagine writing is an RPG skill like "combat". Then within it there are things like "archery" or "heavy armor" ("explaining ideas well" or "characterization" or "writing good tweets" or "pretty sentences"), which you can work on intentionally or just grind by doing them a lot, but they all still improve that core skill, so as long as you're doing something, that base score is going up.
Perfect is the enemy of good.
I recommend writing a lot where people can read it and where you'll get some kind of feedback on it, that's sort of the key loop for "getting the most out of practice".
I don't know what the writing culture on the wiki is like these days but the quality threshold is obviously pretty high, so if you're interested in writing SCPs, depending on where your writing skill is at now, that may or may not be a good place to start. You may have to look around. Social media (including tumblr)? Fanfiction? Forums? Horror subreddits? Ask for feedback too. (These places are often communities, you should contribute by reading and commenting on other people's stuff too.)
Perfect is the enemy of good.
Not all feedback will be helpful. You must develop your own eye over time.
If you're struggling with getting readers/feedback: people are more likely to read short things than long things.
Also read more intentionally. Think about things you read. Did you like the writing or not? Why? What did it do that you liked or didn't like? Try borrowing styles.
Perfect is the enemy of good.
Good luck out there!

recently ive noticed that people (or maybe it's just in one certain group of this fandom,,,) just blatantly hate each other for each others' view on characters, especially doctors. skin color, sexuality, personality. while i still can not agree with some of other ppl's canons, i dont straightforwardly hate on them. people are forgetting there is NO canon/a LOT of canons. ive seen ppl literally argue like only one side will survive that fight. about their perception of fucking nonexistent fictional fellas. guys, thats.... my canon! i get to decide almost everything! i can make them all white cishet men and you wont even say a thing. i can make it WOKE foundation and you wont even say a thing. take care of ur own business friends, dont hate on anyone and just ignore if you dont like how they draw doctors of scps or whatever. sorry for this long ass and kinda meaningless take, but i had to say that. yall need to be kinder to eachother.

While I was going through my old school papers today, I found one of those trick quizzes that high school teachers who think they're terribly clever like to hand out – you know, the ones with a long, complicated series of instructions where the first instruction is "read all instructions in full before following any instruction other than this one", and the final instruction is "disregard all instructions other than first instruction and this one", and you lose a point for each preceding instruction you actually carried out – and now I desperately need to come up with an in-universe rationale for an SCP Foundation containment procedure article to be structured that way.

You know the more I learn about the people on the scp wiki the more I’m aware of just how toxic the whole site and the people running it are. I’ve had countless people accuse me of being a bad person just for simply liking a character, meanwhile these same people will directly hurt others or actively associate with those who do. They’ll throw their friends under the bus as soon as their allegations are brought to light all while pretending they had no idea what was going on the entire time, then play morally superior when it comes to other issues.
