Just a quick #work_in_progress on the #hasegawa #macrossplus #valkyrie VF-11B Super Thunderbolt. Just a quick process shot of adding the #AK_Interactive panel line wash. I just applied it by a small brush, then after about 10 minutes or so. I just wiped the excess off with a paper towel. No thinner needed. I still need to apply different colours to the other greys and black that I used. And it also occurred to me that I can add a bit of weathering that would be typical to an armoured vehicle. Not mud, but using filters and chipping. More #work_in_progress on the #bandai #Macrossfrontier #valkyrie Getting the gunpod together for the next step. And the steel inner lining will look good once completed. It was a simple build. As it was simply sandwiched together. But need to do this part before painting it. As there is a seamline right down the middle that will show up badly once painted. Learned not to paint that way years ago. And can ruin the whole build. Even of a small piece. You just need to notice one thing that can ruin the rest as once you see it. I find that you just can't not remember it when looking at the rest. I find that when I look at my own kits. But overall the gunpod feels quite fragile due to the moving parts (as a note the gungrip can move) and the main barrel can move. And more to come. The last 2 picture's are of me hand painting some of the details. I have used #AK_INTERACTIVE black panel line paint for this. And should of done it first up. But it helps to give me a painting guide. Started painting the gunpod. I primed the base with Black then painted it with #AK_Interactive extreme metal's gunmetal. More #work_in_progress on the #hasegawa #macrossplus #valkyrie VF-11B Super Thunderbolt. Finally getting on to the panel lining. For that I am using #AK_Interactive red brown. Which for the main colour of the Valkyrie just a darker version. It makes the panel lines look like proper shadows. For other parts I will be using other colours to look like shadows. These days I don't try and make my lines match to much in thickness as I think it gives it a slight weathered look. Hopefully get this completed before the end of the year as a birthday gift to myself. Even though it's not perfect I'm happy with it so far. And I have allways wanted a VF-11B on my shelf with my other Valkyrie of this scale. I made it really dark to show alot of usage by the pilot. The foot vernier didn't come out as well as I hoped but I might change my mind when it's all in one piece. The thruster bells came out nicely, probably because I have done this type more then any other. Still experience and doing I find works best . I am using a #AK_INTERACTIVE panel line wash as they are much thinner and get into all the grooves properly. I still need to paint up a few more little details. Just a quick #work_in_progress from the #workbench I've been trying to come up with different ideas for painting my vernier on my sci-fi kits. I've painted inside with #AK_Interactive burnt metal and outside with steel. I then used #tamiya weathering masters metallic blue to add the little bit of wear from heat. Sort of happy with it. Did this on a #macrossfrontier #valkyrie VF-29 and a #GundamBuildFighters kit. Still it was quick and easy to do. #buildforfun #lazymodeller

On to the next kits. Am working on 3 different kits. With this. I am basically trying to make the vernier on these kits look worn. The first is that I prime it with #vallejo black and then hit the insides with #AK_Interactive burnt metal to make inside the vernier look used. The part that I like about the AK metal paints is that if you give it at least 2 days to dry completely. It can be masked. But the kits I'm working on is a #Macross VF-1 #hasegawa and a VF-29 from #macrossfrontier and the last vernier is from a #GundamBuildFighters kit. Which us another play with some paints. More #work_in_progress on the #bandai #votoms #scopedog #plastic_model #plamo #scalemodel The green now finally completed and dried. Once it is complete the weathering will begin. But for those that are interested in how I got it to look the way I do. Here is the process I used. 1 - first it was primed with #vallejo Russian green primer 2 - I then painted it with #vallejo Gunship green 3 - I then coated it with #AK_Interactive dark brown filter. This sort of added s bit more depth to the colour. 4 - coated the parts in #humbrol clear to give let me apply and decals that are needed. I find the gloss coat makes it easier for the decals to slide around to make accurate placement. 5 - another gloss coat. This is to protect the decals and makes it easier to clean up the panel line wash. 6 - use the #AK_Interactive dark brown panel line wash. Brown looks so much better on green then black I find. 7 - then apply 2 coats of #vallejo matt coat. The reason I do 2 is that this paint seems to need it. And if I want to I can use the #tamiya weathering masters to scuff it up a bit. I used soot on this. #bui#buildforfun

More #work_in_progress on the #bandai #votoms #scopedog I decided to make the insides where all the piston, actuators and other look oily and dusty as if it has been in use. So I decided to use the #AK_Interactive Engines and Turbines wash. After applying it. I waited for it to partially dry. Then use a cotton bud to wipe away bits here and there. As grime like this would be random over the surface it covered in thickness. It looks alright, but will not be seen at all After enclosed.
