He hated how you argued with him when you were paired together for a Science project, claiming "All his ideas sucked," and that "You shouldn't have even been paired with him." He hated that you were so nice to everyone except him, and he could never put his finger on it. Was it because of the look he gave you when the teacher assigned your seat next to his? Was it because of that one time he bumped into you and made you spill your tray? It was unfair. - Sanemi walked into his first class for the morning, steaming cup of coffee held haphazardly as he trudged to his seat. Right beside you. He spared you a glance, his (hardly there) brows furrowing in annoyance. You were glaring at him again, barely trying to hide the hatred burning in your eyes. The man scoffed in response to the look you were giving him, turning to look at the front of the room. Mr. Ubuyashiki wasn't here yet. Typical. Sanemi, for the first time in maybe his entire life, tried to make small talk with you. "No insult today, huh Y/n?" Your head flipped toward him, admittedly pretty face scrunched into a grimace. He assumed you were about to throw a retort back at him, but as soon as your mouth opened there was a scream in the hallway. The scream was blood-curdling, and the silence that followed after filled the air with a sense of dread. Everyone's gazes shot toward the closed door. One curious, yet dumb girl decided to stand up, approaching the door. Her shaky hand turned the knob slowly, hesitantly. She peered out, looking both ways before opening it fully. She took a step out and looked around. The girl then turned back around, with a relieved smile. "It's fi-" It happened so fast. One second, she's alive. The next, she's on the floor, gone. That's not the scariest part, it's the thing that's on top of her. Its eating her. The sound is disgusting, and Sanemi almost throws up. He's unable to move, unable to react as he watches the thing eat the poor girl. There's only a moment of silence, only a moment of listening to the thing chew into her flesh before the screams break out. Shit. His baby brother is in danger. Genya. How is he supposed to get out of this god forsaken room when that thing is chowing down on a body in front of the door. Worst of all, the screaming is attracting another one. He decided to go for the next best option. Hiding. He grabs Y/n's arm and pulls you under the table, his head hitting it with a 'thunk!' He ignores the pain, instead focusing on remaining silent. That's when she notices the tears streaming down your cheeks. Sanemi is not a man of sweet words or gestures, he is not there for your comfort. But, he knew you were scared, so he did the only thing he could do. - You were frozen in horror as you watched the monster feast on your classmate's flesh, mind hardly coming to the fact that tears had escaped your eyes. You only came to your senses when you were tugged under the table by Sanemi, trying to frantically wipe away your tears so he wouldn't see your weakness. He had made a smart move. The tables were covered by cloth that hung over the edges, concealing anything that might be under them. The thoughts subsided as you felt a pair of strong arms wrap around you, albeit awkwardly. You couldn't help but lean closer to his warmth, giving up on holding back your tears. With your face buried into his shoulder, you sobbed and sobbed until your eyes ran dry. He comforted you through your tears, large hands caressing your back lightly. Despite the comforting motions, he was as stiff as a board, as if this was unfamiliar to him. "Shh..it's ok." he soothed "Gotta stay quiet so they don't hear us, alright?" - This would be like a dream for Sanemi if he hadn't just watched so many people die, the memory playing in his head on loop. He didn't know how to react when you leaned closer, stiffening. Stomping approached the table, an inhuman clicking sounding out.

Before Grace got to respond the "Bo" man to her hand leaving the shop with her.

That night you laid in your bed tossing and turning she was on your mind like a unpaid late house bill. All you could hope for was to see her tomorrow.

Globox might not be allergic to plum juice.

Murfy seems to be the only one that mentions this supposed allergy, and listening to the french version (with my basic french knowledge) there is no mention of this, as far as I'm aware!

"Rayman be careful! André is a black lum and black lums are perverts! He will certainly develop bad habits within Globox" or something like that, is what Murfy says instead of the allergy comment.

Yeah, the game was slightly censored in some of the dubs (such as Murfy cursing, asking if the manual's writers were smoking and calling Rayman "too good" as in "hot" jokingly... I'm pretty sure there's a lot of more examples.), so I wouldn't be surprised if that allergy comment was a bad attempt to keep the rating down, since the kids don't know about being drunk.

More proof is in the cut script of Rayman Origins. There, Polokus (Bubble Dreamer) says this when speaking to Globox:

"Glutton after my own heart (happy sigh)... I've still got heartburn since our last chow festival! You lay off the sacred plum juice I promised your Mrs... Leave some for me!"

This implies Globox likes Plum Juice on it's own. It's obviously an allegory for alcohol! The manual in Rayman 3 also doesn't mention the allergy but rather says: "André has such a warped mind that he obligues Globox to drink plum juice, making our poor friend loose all semblance of control..."

So basically plum juice is Polokus' (aka God) wine. Heck, even the Plum juice could be actual plum wine if it's been stored for a while (if we consider Polokus' comment about it being sacred true, it might as well be). We even encounter them in barrels!

[Edit: They are indeed Fermented, André himself confirms this in Rayman 3 in the first room with a plum. He says he likes Plum juice as long it is fermented, and guess what drink is he craving for during the entire game?]

He also drinks them in Hoodlums' Revenge... although it could be due to André's spirit influencing him.

So, in editing this stupidly long — 08:56, to be specific — Sera and Manu vid that’s set across the multitimelineverse, I’ve been getting a few more concrete ideas from the footage I’ve maniped together for my current verses, including the convoluted, but dearly beloved (to me), Destroyer of Worlds, which is essentially an AU of an AU, following on from A Quality of Mercy with Admiral Pike making the terrible decision™ to wake Khan after encountering the Botony Bay instead of Captain Kirk, hoping he will join their cause, which… he does, except it offsets an even darker timeline that was never supposed to exist.

From there I’ve basically cannibalised a bunch of “Bad Future” bits and bobs across various Trek and a few other sources with a dash of inspiration from the Mirror Universe as well. But all of that is a TL;DR post for another time.

Anyway, back to Sera and Manu, I was trying to figure out where to put their first meeting and incorporate him into the verse in general — Sera I already solidly have a complete arc for. And now I’m inclined to have it occur after she’s exiled by La’an after their biggest bust up yet (the girlies will stop fighting eventually, but La’an at this point is still forever salty about alt!Kirk with no interest in amends) from the ISS Puget Sound II.

Sera then sarcastic Vulcan salutes her way back onto her shuttle with the intention of going after Khan by herself (third time’s the charm, right?) but a navigational glitch puts her in Gorn space instead.

Enter Manu Noonien-Singh, AKA the planetary nursery MVP, best big brother, Gorn hunter, Lewis Tan looking fine and divine, ritual schmitual, Mr. Brawn and Brains.

He saves her from becoming lizard chow and welcomes her aboard his stolen starship the Wrath, and I figure they have a few adventures of their own together on their way back to Deep Space 19, which is Resistance HQ, since that’s literally the only “home” Sera has left, along with one of the few safe spaces in the Quadrant for non-Humans.

And that’s very much a midway point where they both then get involved on the space station with Admiral James Insane-Middle-Name Kirk, which is awkward for Sera. For. So. Many. Reasons. Even though this James is not the James she pew pew’d with an antique.

Long conversation short with myself, it’s a good solid place to establish more canon with them, and with Manu and Sera both essentially being independent there’s also the capacity for them to go off-station for missions as and when they’re needed.

And then, obviously, at some point, La’an will be back, and that’s where the aforementioned in previous musings Echo/Bellamy/Octavia style arc comes in to play, followed by eventual actual forgiveness instead of their dynamic being teeth clenched teamwork under the mutual agreement “the enemy of my enemy is my friend.”

The sparring scene from The 100 says it all for how I visualise it initially going with Octavia/La’an being like, “No, I will not forgive this murderer for something she did [X] amount of years ago, alternate timeline or not.” And Bellamy/Manu being like, “I’m not justifying it, but who she was then is not who she is now.”

Additional Manu/Sera adventures and notes include:

An encounter with the Augments who inform Khan that not one but two of his descendants are still alive… and both of them are working for the Resistance.

Introducing each other to different beverages: Manu to kali-fal and Sera to tea practice.

Hanging out in the holosuite.

Intimate exchanges of truths.

Manu being captured by the Orion Syndicate and forced into an underground fighting ring. Sera then has to get the green body paint out to infiltrate the arena to rescue him.

Manu imparting his knowledge about the Gorn to Sera, including how to interpret their light signals.

Manu learning about Romulan culture to better understand her.

Manu becoming the one person in the world that Sera trusts implicitly.

Manu thinking Sera’s ears are elegant and pretty.

Rescuing a group of refugees from a Gorn breeding planet.

Sera eventually giving Manu her true name (and heart).

Sera giving Manu a crash course in (old) Earth history, including memes and the best of Toronto cuisine, to make up for his lost youth on the breeding planet.

Sera teaching Manu how to read, write, and speak Romulan, only to be surprised by how quickly he picks it up. (What? He’s good with his tongue.)

Stopping the Serene Squall after they raid a Resistance supply ship carrying essential dilithium for the cause.

Training together and showing each other new moves from their respective fighting styles.
