What are some good places to look for manuscript style inspiration?
✸ Victoria and Albert Museum's Gallery
Contains lots of examples with descriptions. Sorted by Place of Origin, Material, Type, Time, etc.
✸ "The World of Ornament" by Auguste Racinet & Auguste Dupont-Auberville
Also contains a lot of examples of ornaments from Illuminated Manuscripts. Also sorted by Place of Origin, Type and Time.
✸ Alternatively you can search:
Book of Hours - Illuminated Christian prayer books. They were one of the most common types of Illuminated Manuscripts so you should be able to find lots of examples
Book of Kells - Celtic Gospel Book in Insular Style
Westminster Abbey Bestiary - 13th century Manuscript that contains lots of Animal Depictions
The Morgan Bible (or Crusade Bible) - 13th century Illuminated Manuscript made in France with illustrated events from Old Testament.
✸ And just some generally useful information:
What are Illuminated Manuscripts (who and why were making them)
A process of making an Illuminated Manuscripts (that for some reason ends with a cheese documentary)
Types of Decorative Features in Illuminated Manuscripts

Zresztą, gdyby wszyscy zasiedli do stołu, podali swój prawdziwy zawód, swoją tożsamość, człowiek nie wiedziałby, gdzie się podziać. Niech pan wyobrazi sobie bilety wizytowe: Dupont, tchórzliwy filozof albo chrześcijanin-właściciel, albo wiarołomny humanista, doprawdy jest w czym wybierać. Ależ to byłoby piekło! Tak, piekło pewnie jest takie: ulice z szyldami i żadnego sposobu, żeby się wytłumaczyć. Jest się zaklasyfikowanym raz na zawsze.

Scarabée and Kitty Claws AU
Updated OC list
Dalia Kubdel
Alix and Jalil's mother as well as Alim's wife who has passed away due to a horrible car accident. She died in a car accident when Alix was seven. Like those un her family, she has the "ALI" in her name. She would call Alix "my little Scarabée".
Monica Bisset
One of the girls on Alix's Roller Derby Team. She has a major crush on Alix, but hates Chloé. Ironically, she's a massive Kitty Claws fan.
Albert Corbin, Julien Garnier, & Tristan Boucher
Three bullies that are in Marc and Aurore's class. They're massive fans of Scarabée and Kitty Claws (Albert often tries to flirt with Kitty Claws, much to her dismay). Each of them are akumatized on three separate occasions.
Aurélien Bustier
Caline Bustier's seven year old son. He looks so much like his mother. Chloé absolutely adores him, but wouldn't like her classmates to know that. He doesn't know his father.
Lillian Thorns
A very nice and generous woman that owns a flower shop called "Éclat Épanoui". Alix is often taken to there by Rose or Mylène. Lillian was also good friends with Dalia Kubdel.
Mitchell Clark
An American male model that works with Audrey Bourgeois in New York. He's secretly a fan of super heroes & quite the history buff. He takes a liking to Jalil.
Esmée Rousseau
A teenage girl that's a major fan of Scarabée and Kitty Claws & has major crushes on both of them. This double crush goes away after she's akumatized. She also helps Alya out with the School Blog and the ScaraBlog from time to time. She's great of making and designing superhero cosplay and pins.
Brigiette Alarie
A teenage girl that's a member of Francoise Dupont's drama club. She's a big fan of murder/mystery movies. She's not the biggest fan of Chloé, but a major fan of Adrien.
Elroy Castillon
A teenage boy that Marinette and Max beat in the Gaming Competition (which gets him akumatized). He doesn't like Max and Marinette very much (seeing them as rivals), but has a crush on Chloé.
Henri Bohen
Juleka's biological father. He's known Anarka since she performed with Jagged Stone. Once she got pregnant with Juleka, he was so sure that she'd send Luka to be with Jagged. When she doesn't do that, he leaves.
Valerie Anciel
Marc's loving and supportive mother. She's a well known Dramatist in Paris & she adores the writing Marc would show her & understands when he wants to keep certain things he writes about secret. She also adores his relationship with Nathaniel.
Jolie Gouin
A teenage girl that goes to the same school as Kagami and Ondine. She's seen Alya's Scarablog and has wanted to be a Journalist sense then. She developed a crush on Scarabée and wants to interview her someday.
Lucinda Zeal
A Detective/Private Investigator I introduced in an other AU that I wanna introduce in this one as well. She's actually quite supportive of Scarabée and Kitty Claws doing great work. When Queen Coccinelle and Mao Noire comes into play, she's ready to find out what happened to the younger heroines.
If you all have more ideas for OCs or ideas for the current ones, let me know!

Erich von Stroheim and Maude George in Foolish Wives (Erich von Stroheim, 1922)
Cast: Erich von Stroheim, Miss DuPont, Maude George, Mae Busch, Rudolph Christians, Dale Fuller, Albert Edmondson, Cesare Gravina, Malvina Polo, C.J. Allen. Screenplay: Erich von Stroheim; titles: Marian Ainslee, Walter Anthony. Cinematography: William H. Daniels, Ben F. Reynolds. Art direction: Richard Day, Elmer Sheehy, Van Alstein. Film editing: Arthur Ripley.
Erich von Stroheim's reach exceeded Hollywood's grasp, though not without some initial encouragement by the studio heads. Universal eagerly promoted Foolish Wives as "the first million-dollar movie," and most of that sum was apparent on screen: the huge sets re-creating Monte Carlo that were built on the Monterey Peninsula in California. Some of it, too, wasn't visible: Stroheim reportedly insisted on having underwear created for his actors bearing the monograms of their characters. But there were limits to what the studio would do for the director: When Rudolph Christians, a key actor in the film, died in mid-filming, Stroheim proposed that his scenes be reshot with his stand-in, Robert Edeson, but was forced to give in to the studio's work-around: Edeson played the role in the remaining scenes with his back to the camera. But mostly, the studio's resistance was to Stroheim's vision of a movie that would run somewhere between six and 10 hours and be shown on two consecutive nights. He was forced to settle for a three-and-a-half-hour version, which was subsequently cut again under the instructions of the New York censors. More cuts by the studio followed after the film was a box office disappointment, so that what we see today is a reconstruction cobbled together from existing versions. But after that, what we have is a juicy, kinky melodrama about decadent Europe trying to corrupt innocent America. Stroheim plays a con man pretending to be an exiled Russian aristocrat, Count Sergius Karamzin, living with two women he says are his cousins: the phony princesses Olga Petchnikoff (Maude George) and Vera Petchnikoff (Mae Busch). They're out to milk whatever cash they can from suckers at Monte Carlo, and Sergius sets his sights on Helen Hughes (Miss DuPont), the wife of an American diplomat (Christians). In his down time from that seduction, he also pursues, with purely carnal intent, a hotel maid (Dale Fuller) and the pretty but mentally challenged daughter (Malvina Polo) of the man who counterfeits the money Sergius uses to bilk gamblers at the casino. There's a spectacular storm and an even more spectacular fire, too, before Sergius gets perhaps more than what's coming to him. Even in its truncated version, Foolish Wives is almost too much.

May 24, 1964
Had quite a full evening of entertainment yesterday when we first had a very good meal at Luby's then went to the very lusty "Tom Jones' movie and wound up the evening at the club for a drink and a little dancing then to the bowling alley for tea and a baked apple fritter. "Tom Jones" starred Albert Finney as the delightful rogue and richly deserved the 1964 Academy Award for Best Picture and best director. Leroy is borrowing a page from Dad's book for he finally fixed our rocky toilet by of all things putting a match box (Dupont Matches) cover under the toilet base to level it. Today he took me for a Sunday ride nearly half way to Houston. We ended up at Oak Island which more uninteresting than our very familiar Port Arthur terrain but I try not to complain for Lee doesn't particularly enjoy Sunday riding anyway. He gave me a very sweet compliment though when he told me as we neared home---"you're good traveling companion." Felt just like a child tonight when I went next door to visit with Cora Beaumont and Lee awakened after a nap and couldn't locate me so he and Mac went on foot in search of me and I encountered my worried husband on the street in front of our house. He admonished me to write a note next time.
