I’ve been doing some self discovery this week pertaining to my work. For me, Creativity is a delicate and fragile mental space. I am finding that simplicity is one of my driving forces and imperative for keeping my inspiration alive. I get easily overwhelmed and bogged down with too many choices and it stifles my process. It shuts me down mentally. Makes me feel defeated and exhausted. It’s all a very intricate dance. . I’ve completed 41 new pieces this week. New designs. New shapes. New creative mental space. . Thank you for your continued support during all that is going on in the world. I’m certainly thankful for my sacred studio space. It has been the best way to quarantine and to distract my thoughts that have a tendency towards depression. Clay has always been good to me in that way. . I would love to hear from you. We all have to start somewhere. This applies to everything we ever do and learn in life. We start at point A and take baby steps until we reach our goal. Most people are not born artists. It is a matter of desire. If you want something bad enough and you enjoy doing it, you work on that skill a little at a time, or fully immersed, until you learn it or improve upon it enough for it to become something you are good at. When we first got married we moved from the big city of #charlottenc to the small town of #cloversc Being born and raised in Charlotte, we had both always wanted to experience life in the country. It was a drastic change for both of us, #notgonnalie , but we embraced some of the changes with excitement! Raising #boxerpuppies was the first. We started with Jasper. He was my first #puppylove🐶 . Tragically, he got loose one day and was hit by a car. Completely devastated me. It felt like my child had died and I thought I’d never love another dog again. Eventually my heart healed, but he will always be missed. We loved having him so much though that we ended up getting 3 more boxers. We were in love with the breed! Next big change, we decided to raise chickens! We don’t do anything small, so we ended up building the Chicken Coop Condo and having 30 or so, different types of chickens 🐓 😳. We had a little chicken farm there hatching chicks, raising chicks, selling chicks, selling eggs...it was a blast!!! I loved the whole experience and everything I was learning about the life cycle of a chicken and the egg and chicken industry as a whole. Today, we live in between the city and the way out country in a house on #lakewyliesc . We have 12 chickens and 1 dog. Much more manageable. This year though, we’ve also added a family of 5 ducks to the mixr. Why not, right? it makes life even more exciting!!
